Fully agree with other reviewers pointing out the good location for exploring laid-back and underrated Nizhni. We loved the city and had a solid base at Nikola Haus. Our rooms were clean, quiet and spacious. Comfortable beds (not a given in Russia even in 4-Star accommodation). Okay size bathroom for which an upgrade would be great at some point. Didn’t try breakfast which was not included and a choice of 4 or so different sets. There are many Cafes in the immediate vicinity which we found to be better meeting our needs. Helpful and friendly reception staff, some spoke English. For a change laundry service was quite reasonably priced and quick, a nice surprise for our family of four.

The "hotel" is very well located. From the train station it's a 10minutes Uber ride that cost us 250 Rubel. We were standing in front of the hotel and din't realize it because there's no sign. Chkalov Monument, Kremlin and other sites are within a 5 minutes walking distance. Good starting point to explore Nizhny Novgorod. The staff was very friendly but didn't speak english very well. Google Translate helped a lot. The room was clean, confy with two single beds, air conditioner and a fridge. The bathroom had a proper shower cabin. The layout of the bathroom is a little weird because while sitting on the "throne" you could easily fall down the stairs. All in all a good budget stay and great starting point to go out and explore the city.

We've visited this hotel on September 2018. The hotel is brand new, in the center of the city, close to restaurants and coffee shops, to the main street and Kremlin. The service in the hotel was very good, nice clean rooms, good breakfast! Absolutely will visit it again!

We stayed at Hotel Joy for 2 nights during the World Cup in June 2018, and were very impressed by this small hotel. This was probably the busiest and most stressful period that the city has seen, and yet the hotel staff were very welcoming and kind to all of their guests. We arrived very early in the morning and despite being at full capacity the night before, the hotel staff very quickly turned over a room for us as soon as one was free so that we were able to check in early - much appreciated after our overnight train to Nizhny. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and ours had a kettle, microwave and fridge. We slept very well - comfy beds, very little street noise and an excellent air conditioning unit. Breakfast, served in our room and pre-ordered the night before, was delicious with plenty of options for every preference. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay and the location was absolutely perfect - I don't think we could have found a better location in the Old Town! Only slight drawback was a complicated wifi system that isn't very friendly for foreigners (you need to receive a code by text to enable the hotel's wifi and the code never arrived to our non-Russian mobile phones), but the hotel staff helped us to work this out. We would be very happy to stay here again.

My friends and I were at Nizhny Novgorod in summer 2018. We attended a game between Croatia and Argentina within Fifa World Cup. We had never been in NN before, that's why I asked my old friend who used to live in NN to help us with a hotel. He recommended this very hotel. Fortunately, he didn't let us down. Hotel is located next to the Kremlin and not far from the rest of the amazing attractions. Guys on reception welcomed us warmly. Breakfast was included in the price of a suite. Room was equipped with plasma tv, quiet refrigerator, air conditioners and very soft beds. Сleanliness of that room was flawless and I didn't find any stains or anything else that could spoil my impression. Plastic windows shielded us from the noise of the city. Finally, with regard to question value for money, I'd put 10/10. I'd like to say thank all the stuff and person who opened this hotel. I definitely can recommend Domino Hotel to all tourists who don't wanna spent a lot of money while getting quality service.

This hotel has a lot to recommend it and a few not so good points. It is very modern in terms of the standard of the rooms and facilities, perhaps with the exception of the restaurant. There is a bar, an ATM and the rooms have every amenity, including an espresso machine and cable TV. Everything is spotless, plumbing and electricity is good and our room came with a kitchenette which we did not plan on or use. The staff are first class, smile often and many speak English. For a Russian hotel, it is of a high standard. The location is perfect for seeing the sights. It is a 7 min walk to the Main Street and a tramway runs past the front door. They seem to do a good trade in conferences (one for each weekday we stayed) On the downside, a bunch of small issues marred the stay a little. We extended for one night and the cost went up. The bar fridge was empty, although the supply of free bottled water was ample. The view from the window was appalling- a derelict factory. If you are fortunate enough to get a forward facing room, the courtyard is pretty. We had only one pillow per guest. The restaurant features chairs that are too low for the average guest, making dining awkward. There are no proper napkins and you must ask for salad or vegetables with the main course. The price for our two course meal was hefty, but the food was superb (food and drinks $140 for two). The district is of great historical interest as is the hotel itself, and I recommend anyone looking for a quiet stay to check the hotel out.

On my trip to Nizhny I was pleased with the overall quality of the Sheraton. The hotel is a relatively new property that has been designed to reflect its historic environment. The staff work hard to meet the requests of the guests. The rooms are of good quality and creative. The gym is well equipped and open 24 hours per day. The breakfast is classy with a nice selection of offerings. Perhaps my one suggestion for the hotel would be to provide a stronger selection of hot food items at night in the Sheraton Club. The actual Club is very nice but also very limited in the hot food items. Overall, a sold 5 star property. I will come again.

Went to Nizhny Novogord on a work trip, but found the Hampton both very affordable and very convenient. The staff speaks excellent English and the amenities alone are worth the stay. I had some trepidation going to Russia for the first time, believing all I had seen on the news and in movies. Do not believe what you have seen. The Russian people are wonderful. I found them to be educated (beyond US citizens), friendly, and very helpful. The customer service at this hotel is top-notch. I cannot say enough good things about the Hampton by Hilton in Nizhny Novgorod. It is a short walk from the Volga River promenade and a bit of a walk to the city center, but totally worth it. There are enough restaurants nearby to make this a desirable location. Breakfast is incredible. There is a wide assortment of choices, and they change daily. The front desk staff is very accommodating and the rest of the staff is the same. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, and I cannot wait for my next stay. The hotel was built for the World Cup in 2018, so it is very modern. The air conditioning works just fine. Excellent, excellent, excellent hotel with superb staff.

We stayed at Marins Park in Yekaterinburg and it was much better. This one had a nice big room and clean beds and towels but the maid didn’t take our laundry and then when we took it to reception later that day they said it was too late so we missed out. Our room was “cleaned” although they don’t make the beds and we were only left with two towels, no new hand towels or foot towels. The drink dispenser in the foyer was empty and the coffee shop was not staffed. Breakfast was good. There is a strip club next to the restaurant which is odd. Ok for the price but not overly impressed with promised service.

The Azimut Hotel is built to maximize the sweeping views out across the Volga River not for convenience in getting to any place within the city that might be on your itinerary. On arrival after a morning train journey my room was not yet available so I tried to get lunch in the lobby cafe to fill in some of the time. After sitting for about 10 minutes with a menu but no service I left and walked the long distance into the main pedestrian street (about 25 minutes walk) and ate there instead. My visit didn't continue too well either when I discovered that my very small standard room on the second floor with a view only of the tree very close to the window did not have a safe and there was no safe available at reception either. After a bit of discussion I agreed to pay a small amount extra per night for a deluxe room. As it turned out that was a bargain. The room I was given was on the 5th floor with a great river view. It was also at least 3 times as big as the standard room and came with huge bed, kettle, fridge, bottled water and a safe. The bathroom was also much larger and very well set out although the shower was over a very deep bath tub which I struggled a bit getting in and out of. The wifi worked well - it was reasonably fast and stable. Breakfast had good choices and was kept well stocked. One of the most positive aspects of the hotel for me were the helpful, English-speaking reception and bar staff. On reflection I would probably choose to stay elsewhere if ever back in Nizhny Novgorod because of the inconvenience of where the hotel was situated in relation to other parts of the city but if you have transport then the Azimut is a reasonable choice.
