We came to Bolzano from Innsbruck to visit some friends. Since the city was fully booked for the dates we decided to stay in this "hotel" since there was no other options. We came at 2 pm on a really hot summer day and there was no one in the reception even they say the service is 24h. We found out in a banner sticker on a second door that the check-in time started at 4 pm!!! After coming back two hours later and during the check-in the receptionist tried to inform us in a really poor English that the check-out time was at 10 am (...) The room is pretty basic. Small and low quality towels, two separate beds that you would need to rebuild every once and then and a shared balcony with the room next to. If you consider yourself fan of Berlusconi that's your hotel. You couldn't change to any other channel on the TV than the one who shows 24/7 Italians drama queens sponsored by the national Gigolo. Finally, in the next day morning try to find the exit in a corridor full of dirtt bed sheets, towels and pillows.

We visited with a coach party for five nights. The hotel is clean and the room was nice. However the welcome drink which the hotel was supposed to provide according to the coach company brochure didn’t appear. There was supposed to be a choice of menu for the evening meals but for the first two nights there was no choice. There was a limited choice after that. The buffet at breakfast was not the best I have seen. At meal times some of the food laid out was, we were told, not for us! There seemed too few staff serving tables, and meals arrived for different people with long intervals in between. At one point we were seven our desserts before the main course plates had been removed! My wife’s dessert had melted on the plate before it reached her. The hotel was said by the holiday company to be within easy strolling distance of the old town but it is four kilometres away.

We are a family of 3 adults and booked 2 rooms for 2 nights. It was so special to stay at this hotel - perfectly located on the square and an easy walk with luggage from the station. The rooms are generously sized with large comfortable beds and pillows, a small sofa and arm chair, big tasteful bathrooms and loads of space. Just the hotel for a bit of relaxation. I can’t fault the rooms, the decor and the space. Staff at the desk were very helpful with check in, advice on local buses and restaurant recommendations. The breakfast room is an absolute delight and again the staff are quietly efficient and helpful. The hotel manager stopped by for a very friendly chat. Bolzano is beautiful and this hotel, in our view, is the only place to stay. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Greif for a very special few days.

We chose this hotel because of its proximity to the train station. From the reception to the staff everyone was super nice. Had a bit of an emergency and they helped us through it all. Everyone whether involved or not made it a point to inquire about the situation. THATwas impressive and the entire staff has our gratitude. So its not the Ritz and they have clunky room keys that you have to turn in when you go out, but this is a clean place staffed by nice folks. The rooms are clean. The breakfast buffet is great...fresh sqeezed OJ that you squeeze. If we get back this way we are returning.

I had booked other apartments in Bolzano which were utterly disgusting when I arrived so I grabbed my bag and searched for another place. The young receptionist at Figl was friendly, charming, very helpful and efficient and gave me a single room. The big room was spotlessly clean and had a tv, fridge, wardrobe unlike my previous place. It was quiet, great comfy bed, fabulous shower and breakfast was amazing. Fresh fruit, juices, coffee from the bar, jams in large jars which were probably from a nearby orchard, muesli and other cereals, soya/oat milk, meats, cheese, boiled eggs, delicious variety of breads, pumpernickel was my favourite and cakes....strudel ... almost as good as my Mums which I ate every morning. It was the perfect breakfast before my mountain walks everyday. Lovely, friendly staff who speak everything....Italian, German, English and probably more. Right behind Waltherplatz it has the perfect location. Loved it !

We spent 6 nights here, the hotel has apartments which are located 50 metres from the hotel. The apartment we had was on first floor it was spacious, immaculate had a dining living room with kitchen, bedroom and a large bathroom, we also had a balcony which was generous in size, it had table chairs and a clothes drying rack. What was very appealing about this apartment was the clean modern design everything was in excellent condition. The bedroom was a generous sized bed was queen sized, bed linen good quality, sleep quality excellent ,beds very comfortable as were the pillows. There was an air conditioner in both the bedroom and lounge area which functioned very well and was quiet, controlled by remote mounted on the bedroom wall. Bedside cupboard and lights modern and functional, what was really impressive was the built in wardrobe space which was really large. Plenty of hanging space and hangers, shelves, spare pillows and it also housed a safe which was again generous size. The kitchen area had a full size fridge, oven and cooktop and plenty of dishes, cutlery and cooking utensils. The apartment has a phone so that you can contact the main hotel if required. The dining table and chairs were modern and functional and a sofa in the lounge area very comfortable,TV was wall mounted. Bathroom well stocked with towels and bath mats, there is a toilet and bidet and the shower was a step in one with glass doors, lovely and clean and a good supply of hot water. Toiletries are supplied. When you check in you go to the Hotel Post Gries and they will then take you to the apartment which as I mention was 50 metres away. Access to the apartment building is via a gate which is open during day and locked late afternoon, you have access using a card, then there is a elevator which is secure as it will only operate when you put your apartment key in and partly turn. Access to room is via key, so everything is very secure. We stayed in several apartments during our stay in Italy this apartment was the best! Near the apartments a very short walk is a newsagent, bread milk and small goods store. Across the road from apartment is a supermarket about 60 metres from apartments ,this supermarket has everything you need for your stay including fruit and vegetables, meat etc. Further down the road on the same side as apartments is an Aldi store, it’s less than a kilometre away, there is a dry cleaning shop that you will walk past if you go to Aldi. The main town the old part of Bolzano is about 1.5 kilometres from apartments an easy walk and flat, you will cross a bridge that gives you lovely views of the Bolzano hills mountains. Taxis are easy to get if required if you arrive by train you will need a taxi to get to Hotel, taxis are reasonably priced, very clean vehicles .Most taxi drivers speak English though it is important to note Bolzano people speak either German or Italian and sometimes both, English is spoken in some places in Bolzano .You will see

A 400 years old building renovated in a very special way, at high class standards, with perfect conditions for extremely demanding customers. A perfect vacations in Bolzano for shopping (exactly in the heart of the main shopping streets) and for enjoying local food and wine. Delicious breakfast, with fresh food and local typical dishes. Maria (the manager) is very kind and helpful. She is always there for every kind of support you may need! Congratulations for the owners. Everything is just perfect!
