Our Family loved staying at Hotel Schongarten. Very nice rooms, delicious breakfast, great location, beautiful gardens, and the Owner very accomodating. We travelled to Lindau from the USA for a Family Reunion of German relatives late May Pfingsten. The price is very good too. Also when we returned home from our vacation, our son who works in Marketing for a a brand footwear company forgot one of his favorite and nicest dress shirts in the closet of the Hotel. We called the Inn and Mr. Naim immediately located it and packaged it up. We were ready to give our credit card to pay postage but he said no need and he paid to send the package to USA. We just received the shirt this week! This is a well run Inn with a top Team. Thank you! Family Krahn, Maine, USA

Not as expensive as the hotels on the front, but well located near to restaurants/shops and only a two-minute walk from the front, the Insel-Hotel is a very clean and tidy hotel with a lovely breakfast room like a walk-in bar from the street. We found the staff very helpful, particularly when it came to parking (there are spaces you can reserve - we were touring in classic sports cars, and found the outdoor parking to be completely safe) and to recommending places to eat and drink. Lindau itself is a delightful place to visit. We would happily return.

The hotel is in the most amazing position and we had a fabulous suite overlooking the harbour with a geranium decked balcony. Our windows looked straight out onto the Lindau lion and lighthouse and I could stand there people watching and soaking up the view. The reception staff were friendly and the restaurant staff efficient but being a luxury hotel we didn’t experience the warmth of staff at the other hotels we stayed in on this trip. Breakfast was plentiful and there was an excellent choice, the only thing my husband missed was really good coffee. The interior decoration was excellent, lots of creamy yellow with antique pieces of furniture and old prints of German towns (the hotel could do with walking round and moving a few as we played picture snap finding some duplicates next to each other!) There is a lovely lounge area off the reception where we had tea one day but sadly it was usually empty. My only criticism was that the pool and spa area are pretty hard to find and you walk miles along corridors as there are two or three buildings joined together. We would have benefited from someone showing us the way and what the facilities were, as a result we didn’t actually use them which was probably a waste. When it came to leave I was out there on the balcony looking at that view and almost had to be pulled away!!

My first stay in Reutemann for a brief holiday of 3 nights. I must say that my initial experience during communicating with the hotel was quite good, responses were fast and efficient, there seemed to be a duty of care, but that is where it perhaps ended. I must say that at 117 Euros per night, for a small, cramped room, with a blocked window view and with the smallest bed ever to get banged and knocked, and that too with a breakfast.....this was an absolute rip off. In my world travel several year, have never been subjected to so much of cramped space paying quite high I must say in the town of Lindau. The hotel though is impeccably maintained, very neat and clean and staffed quite adequately. The bed was uncomfortable, pillows were as good as non existent, loud noise from the adjacent room entire night, people shouting and chatting through the whole night, reception inefficient and not doing anything, insulation of the rooms poor - you can hear the toilet flushing, noise coming through and a bed which is so small and cramped that you are better off sleeping on the floor. When complained to the reception, a callous "sorry" was just the answer without making any efforts to do something. No coffee/tea maker in the room, not even a complimentary bottle of water. Complete rip off and disaster. Not coming back ever again. The only silver lining....Jonas the restaurant steward who with his impeccable service, attitude and customer service makes you come back and want more. Utterly frustrated and disappointed, A very uncomfortable stay which marred the entire vacation Thanks

The best of this hotel is its location, which is directly opposite the convention center and very close to the center of the island. The rooms are of good size but rather old-fashioned (particularly the curtains). TV is abysmal, no English channel, not even all usual German channels. Housekeeping is lousy, neither the floor nor the bathroom sink were wiped. Even for a double room you get only one key (of the simplest, non secure type), which you cannot return at reception when you leave the hotel, so better stay together all the time. Breakfast is okay but served only until 9:30 hrs. The manager tries to be friendly and helpful in the strangest way, which made me feel very uncomfortable.

My wife and I stayed at this small hotel in June of 2017. I dropped the bags off at the hotel and parked across the bridge, a brisk 5 minute walk. This is a small and quiet hotel located in the Island of Lindau, Bavaria. Checking in was quick and we got wonderful recommendations for places to eat and explore on the island and beyond. The island is small but has a nice little harbor and historic area, as well as some good restaurants. The room was basic but comfortable. There was no AC, but we did ask for and received a fan (they call it a ventilator...) WiFi in the room was spotty, but was much better by the lobby and dining room. Breakfast was also basic but enough for us to fuel for our day of adventures in Bavaria. We drove about 1.5 hours east to Fussen and the castles. Overall this is a solid economical choice for travelers and families who want to stay on the island.

We booked here as we could not find accomodation on the island and knew this was walking distance. We were aware of its busy location. Some of the reviews are dated - there is new carpeting on the stairs and fresh paint. The style will not be to everyone's taste. We found the staff to be helpful, our room big and very clean as was the dining room which served an excellent breakfast. Although our room had a tower fan it's was much goo hot and the very busy road meant that the traffic noise was too loud with the Windows open. Their next improvement must be air. Conditioning!

The exterior will not win a beauty contest, and it is located a bit too far from the old town island, but otherwise this new and modern hotel has a lot to offer. Very friendly and welcoming staff to begin with, carafes of complimentary aromated water in the lobby, nicely furnished rooms with very comfortable beds and a good-sized bathroom. But not much room for putting away clothing, and an unfurtunate corner of a small cupboard just at head height... The restaurant was a very good addition for us, being a bit tired and not wanting to travel back into town for dinner. A limited menu, but what there is, is very good, tasty and well prepared. The breakfast buffet leves nothing to be desired, all you can want is there, from fresh, crusty bread to golden scrambled eggs, fruit and preserves. Parking is a sore point in Lindau, so the hotel`s offer of free parking is very welcome. If only it had been within walking distance of the old town, it would have earned 5 stars...

Excellent standard. Clean with very good amenities. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The restaurant was superb. We stayed just one night as were travelling onward. Location is a bit out of town but to be honest the appeal of Lindau is the narrow streets and parking would have been difficult. I can’t recommend this hotel enough! Stupid app won’t let me rate the service/cleanliness/rooms but they are all 5/5!!
