I must say this hotel is exceptional in every way. I came to Budapest and stayed for 4 nights Friday-Tuesday. The first night the hotel managed to sort me out a table at the rooftop bar (see view pictures) lovely food and drinks, very good value for the standard you recieve. Breakfast in the morning is buffet style with cold meats, pastries, hot selection etc. Plenty of choice and they bring you coffee fresh OJ etc. The staff here also helped me to ring my airline to check baggage restrictions etc and went above and beyond particularly the young guy on reception his name begins with "B" but I can't spell it 🙈 very kind and everyone always has a smile. The hotel even have helped me to store some things for my friend to collect later- nothing is too much trouble. Photos of room attached.

Near Kelvin Square, tens of meters from the subway line 3/4, the transportation is convenient, there are several supermarkets nearby, and the dining street is downstairs. It is within walking distance of the Danube Freedom Bridge and the Central Market. The hotel room is a bit small, but clean, the European IBIS is the same. Next to the ticket machine at the subway station, there is an old lady who wants to pay for it. I have to buy 2 tickets on the machine. The old lady has poked a few times on the machine interface without my consent. Not coming out. I ran to find the subway staff. The staff said that you should never buy a ticket. You must go to the RELAY store next to it. It is estimated that they also know the tricks of this old lady. Later, a few days later, the old lady was found to be turning next to the ticket vending machine, and it was estimated that she would deceive others.

The location is very good, the subway station and the tram are downstairs, it is convenient and safe to go out casually. The room is not large, but there are consumables such as slippers, shower gel, decoration and facilities are consistent with Mercure's standard. The service is very good, you can solve some small problems in time, The Internet corner in the lobby can be used to print some boarding passes for free. Will stay here next time.

The location is very good. After the train station arrives, I will take the subway. It seems that the two stations are here. Get off and follow the navigation for 2 minutes to get to the hotel. It is a good place to take a quiet place. It is very clean. Check in according to the time they say. At half past two in the afternoon, so when we arrived, we left our luggage and went to the central cafe next to breakfast. It was great. It was really close to wherever we went. It was solved by walking. One and a half will have one. Small coffee shop, free coffee and tea, need self-service, message book, breakfast is also very delicious, all kinds of bread is really delicious than domestic, and the train that we had earlier on the last morning, told them in advance, they I started to say that we can pack a little breakfast with us. Later, let us go in for 15 minutes and start eating. Although the content is not yet on, it is also a very human service. The central market is nearby, walking for five minutes, you can buy some fruit gifts, etc., very close to the river, the price is fair, very good, you can rest assured.

We arrived outside the apartment around midnight, and had called two days in advance to tell the owner about the time we would arrive. He told us it was “no problem”, we just had to call the same number when we were outside the apartment. We called several times, and waited outside for about 1 hour in pouring rain, and no one answered the phone or opened. We had to find a hotel, which was not easy because everything was booked for the weekend. There was no taxi available, so we had to find a bus and were walking around in pouring rain in the middle of the night. We finally found an available hotel, and payed around 100€ for one night (4 people). The next day we called Expedia (the company we had booked the apartment through), and they were not helpful at all. They talked to the owner of the apartment, and he said we could come any time. If we did not want to stay at his apartment, we would have to pay the cost for a new place to stay by ourself. They also did only refund 60€ for the hotel we had to pay for. We then went to the apartment again, and waited outside for about 30 minutes, and the owner continued to tell us to wait “2 minutes”. Then an old woman finally came and let us in, and she told us she was not finished cleaning yet. She had clothes/sheets still in the washing that she had to wait for, and continued to clean while we were in the apartment for about 1 hour. We figured that the apartment was probably occupied when we arrived last night, and that was why the owner did not answer the phone. Horrible experience with the owner of the apartment, and we got little to no help from Expedia.

There is a large kitchen where you can cook your own meals. On the first day of arrival, the hostel also held a wine tasting session to communicate with people from all over the world. It was not easy to find the hostel. There was no obvious sign on the street. I relied on the people nearby to help me find the intersection of the hostel and had to carry my luggage to the third floor.

An airport shuttle bus station is about 10 minutes walking distance, very convenient. The hotel was very nice and helpful. The room was clean and big enough for a single traveler. Hotel location is good. After cleaning every day, do not change bath towels, and do not change toiletries. Arrange the car airport for me, saying that the private car service number is guaranteed in all aspects. As a result, I went to the front desk one minute and asked me to charge the euro. I accepted it later, but the driver started to watch the ipad TV on the road. He also answered the phone and the ipad was suspended when he answered the phone. I thought he was driving. How many are on the iPad, he doesn't want to miss 1s! There is no requirement for oneself, but for others, it is a demanding purpose, money, garbage.

The apartment was perfect. It was huge, high ceilings with A/C. Black out curtains and shutters. Clean bed lining. The apartment was spotless. Small kitchen, but we didn’t use this. Shower was powerful and big!. We was placed in block B which is just through the court yard. Only negative was our new neighbours on the 3rd night didn’t know how to talk quietly before 7am and their door was constantly opening and closing (slamming) but this isn’t the hotels fault. If I was to come to Budapest again I’d book here without a doubt. Location was fab, short walk from everything. We didn’t get a taxi once. Sooo many food places. From the airport we got the 100E bus which took you straight to Kalvin, the apartment was a 5/10 min walk from this stop, it only cost 900HUF.

We were a little disappointed with the apartment. We arrived in the dark, and unfortunatley the Manager due to meet us was delayed dealing with a another guest who'd arrived unexpectedly. This was partially our own fault as we were later than planned, but we had phoned ahead to explain. This meant we were waiting outside for about 20 mins, and were getting concerned we were in the right place. On his arrival the Manager was extremely helpful and explained everything well. Our apartment was small, as we expected, but well equiped, a large comfortable bed, well equiped kitchen and small shower room. However our apartement window looked out over a very scruffy courtyard, with bikes, bins, and builders rubbish left around, and we didn't get much daylight in the room. The rug, cushions and sofa were stained and could have looked much better if they'd been cleaned. There was black mould around the showere tray and sink in the bath room which is a little off-putting. There are a few steps, then a lift to the other floors. The location is excellent, a short walk to shops, restaurants, and tram stops, 2 minutes from Margaret Bridge, and 7 minutes walk to the railway station. It is a quiet residential area so peaceful at night. Value for money for sure.

The location is very good, on a pedestrian street opposite the supermarket, downstairs with a restaurant, pizzeria and beer hall. On the diagonal is Las Vegas **. If you take a taxi from the outside, you will find a shopping mall at the end of the pedestrian road. Among them are banks, money changers, supermarkets and Eve. Shoe store. There is a bus stop at the main entrance of the hotel, a Chinese restaurant and a supermarket, and the Danube River on the back. When we are on the Danube, we often stay at the hotel. The walk behind the river at night is also very romantic. The hotel's cleaning service is very positive and it feels like When we went to breakfast, we went into the house and cleaned it. It felt that it was not very good because we didn’t pack everything and put it on the bedside and on the desk. Later, when I went to breakfast several times, I hanged on the door and did not disturb. Not going in, the third photo is the supermarket and restaurant bus stop at the hotel entrance. The location of the hotel is very convenient.

The location is very good, there is a Miller perfume cosmetics can buy and buy downstairs, next to the spar supermarket, opposite the M2 subway station, surrounding McDonald's, pizza shop is readily available. The facilities are almost three or four stars in the country. If the sheets are not changed every day, they will be laid for you. There are not many varieties of breakfast, but they are basically enough. The room is still quite large, we added a bed for 15 euros per day with breakfast, very cheap. The toilet is a bit high, not very friendly to Asians, and it doesn't feel like sitting on it!

We have just got back from these apartments, they were good value for money. We had a superior studio, was quite basic but was cheap so you don’t expect anything too glamorous. Bed seemed a little hard at first but we got two full nights sleep so can’t complain. It was a good twenty minute walk to where the majority of bars and restaurants were but this didn’t bother us much because we were out all day exploring and taxis were so cheap so we just got one back at night time when we’d had a few drinks. The service from the girls at reception was just fantastic. They were so friendly and couldn’t do enough to help you. My only criticism about these apartments would be that we didn’t find it very clear on how to check in. There was a sign on the door saying you had to go somewhere else and we ended up going round in circles and then it turned out you had to check in at the first place we’d been to. Also, it wasn’t clear where to scan the fob to get back into the building so we ended up being stood outside a while trying to work it out. Luckily some other people staying at the apartment turned up and showed us how otherwise I don’t think we’d have got back in. Overall I would recommend these apartments for someone looking for a cheap and cheerful base in Budapest.

Pros: Definitely a great location. Dog-friendly! The woman who checked us in and wore many hats was super friendly and accommodating. The breakfast staff was smiling and cheerful the entire time, despite being quite busy. The rooftop view (which included a night-view of tons of bats flying around the Budapest Parliament building from the roof. It was awesome!) A great outdoor seating area in front of the lobby with comfortable seating The fitness center was cleaned regularly. Nice breakfast. Refrigerator in-room for personal use Self-service laundry facilities on-site Parking Garage with easy access from the hotel elevator Trash cans available out front. Dog-poop bags would be a nice touch to go with them. Large, spacious standard room Cons: Slow elevators The lawn was unkept on the rooftop. Access to the rooftop was not provided to us until we asked for it. A tray of food sat outside of our door for 2 nights (we eventually checked out) without being removed. It seems no one walked the floors to ensure tidiness. Public area carpets are filthy The patio on the front entrance area/lobby needs to be power washed No cups in the fitness center for water Lint/filth in the elevator crevices Front desk did not always have someone behind it to help (they also had to wear many hats and assist with other departments like F&B) No view from our room If housekeeping is going to use the computers at the front desk, they should be able to acknowledge guests waiting in line, too, to let the guest know that the FD Agent will be with them in a moment. FD Agent upon check-out made it sound difficult to pay with both Forint and Credit Card...which it shouldn't be...and if it is, it should not affect the guest. I believe that a lot of the cons listed will be resolved once staffing levels are back to normal once covid is *hopefully* over. At least, I hope so! I cannot wait to visit again - we had a great time!

We stayed only one night in Vagabond's penthouse apartment. It all went well until the day after our stay when I received a two-sentence email claiming that we left the bedroom in an unacceptable condition so they charged me 40 EUR cleaning fee. No photos attached, no cleaning invoice, just a made-up instant charge based on their belief that their false accusation is appropriate. The host was adamant that it was us and after a request for clarification they sent us some pictures. However, the picture details were deleted so there was no chance to check when were they taken. In the end, the host corrected that it was not us, but the guest staying after us. Personally, I am not convinced about the "following guests' story", smells more like a scam. It took 5 emails and two calls with the host and booking.com in a span of three days to achieve a single sentence apology and the confirmation about the refund. The received refund was less than the original charge due to currency change but who cares. The apartment itself is OK aside from missing microwave, terrace furniture and towel hangers, however, everyone should decide for oneself, whether, it is worth to grant bank account access to such unprofessional and ignorant bunch. My time and nerves wasted for this single day booking definitely were not worth it.

Stayed here for 5 nights at the end of January. Hotel was very easy to find almost opposite Semmelweis Klinikak Metro station though I arrived at the weekend so on the M3 replacement bus service. Checking in was fast though the tourist tax appears to be based on the room rate the supplier pays to hotel not what you pay to the supplier as it was considerably more than the 4% I was expecting to pay. I had emailed in advance and asked for a room on a high floor and ended up with a suite on the top floor with access to rooftop terrace and fantastic views over to the city and Gellert hill. Was only staying on a room only basis but having the fridge, kettle and microwave was great to make breakfast and snacks. There is a LIdl about 5 minutes walk away to stock up on supplies. Plentiful toiletries and towels in the bathroom though at times there was a bit of a drain smell which other travellers have commented on. Large double bed was also very comfy and always had a great nights sleep. Room was cleaned every day and a couple of times a fresh bottle of water was also supplied.

After reading some negative reviews I was concerned I had made a mistake, but I was pleasantly surprised. The location in the Jewish Quarter is great. Near the Newyork Cafe (a must visit) and close to some great eateries. I recommend Lado. I’ll outline some good points and bad. Good: comfortable beds, clean sheets and bathroom, cute balcony overlooking the quirky terrace. I liked that. I asked for an inside room and not a street one - very good choice ! The reception staff were so helpful, pleasant and informative. We had a late flight departure and we were allowed to leave our bags in a secure area. Rooms were pleasant. Shower was hot and powerful. Bad points: Our room was a bit dark and dingy but we were only there to sleep. Tv didn’t work. No shampoo provided. Coffee machine but you’re only given a couple of free cheap coffee sachets. No tea. If you like tea, maybe bring your own ! There is a fridge but you have to pay for anything you consume. The carpet looked a little dirty by the skirting. Only one small towel each. I like two as I Like one for my hair too. Breakfast and coffee was cold ‘sometimes’. Not an awful breakfast as there was quite a lot of choice. Fuel for the day. Not as bad as some have made out on the other reviews. I may have listed a few bad points but the good outweigh them really. It’s a good price and a decent bed for a short stay In a great location ! I would stay here again. Point to note. The entrance is a bit weird. Strange door entrance. Sometimes a bouncer is there, oddly! But it’s next to Burger King and a Metro as a landmark. You must pay in cash. Hungarian currency is much better as it works out cheaper.

Hotel breakfast is very good, adult 16 euros, half price for children. The only bad thing is the two bedrooms, with two shower rooms, but there is only one toilet. Room 13 - 11/07/2013 - four night stay.Room was on the ground floor with a garden terrace/pool view.Getting to the hotel is simple using a map or app fromm the nearest metro station "Szell Kalman Ter" its about a 15/20 min walk from this location,A major tram upgrade is underway at this time so walking time is a little longer for the time being. If you are on foot bear in mind the hotel is on a hilly part of Buda,This is not a problem if you have a basic level of fitness. The hotel is in a very quite part of town we were able to have no problems getting a goodnights sleep. The water presure is super, you will enjoy the shower after a long day.in the garden is a small pool so pack some cozys if the weather is going to be good.Breakfast is basic, but more than OK. Just a few bits about this wonderful city.We found the best pound for pound food was Turkish. Its in abundance outside the main centre of town over in pest.Cafe/canteen type food all nice & fresh and it will not break the bank. The best bar we found near the hotel was "Cool Tour bar 3" not far from the metro etc.Use the public transport its super and very cheap,Buy the value 72hour pass etc. The Hotel is a wonderful option read this review it should help you decide if its for you.Do not be afraid of the "MINI BAR" it just has basic OJ/Beer/Water/Coke.Very good value for money so enjoy it. The location is very central, three stops from the train station, and it takes 10 minutes to get there. From the Iron Bridge Ferris Wheel's various net review foie gras restaurants are very close. Closed after 11 pm, you need a room card to enter the hotel. In addition, the ten girls' room is very good. They are in the two separate rooms on the edge of the hall, all of which are girls. There are men and women in the public bathroom rooms upstairs. And the ten-person room is not cute, it is not a steel bed, it will not affect both sides, and there are cabinets. But the lock must be brought on its own.

We stayed for 4 nights, booked through a BA holiday deal and had a great time, would definitely come back here again. The staff were helpful and friendly. The place was also very clean, which was very important to me. The breakfast is great, and I'd recommend adding it, as I couldn't find good breakfast spots in Budapest on days when we went out super early. The rooms aren't huge, but they didn't feel cramped. We didn't feel like we were tripping over each other. I liked the buildings unique design and was thoroughly impressed how light the rooms were, and also the strength of the black out curtains when we wanted an early night Would definitely stay again Also if your looking for other Budapest recommendations we suggest Baths, the funciular, zoo cafe and Zing Burger

I loooved this room. It's how a room would look if I decorated it. Very chic, clean lines, lots of mirrors and a closet with a decent amount of space. The price was very reasonable. There were great restaurants and cafes within walking distance. The staff was very nice and super helpful. The location was ok for the price. The train/tube was less than a half a block away. The bus and tram to city center were at the end of the block. However, most tourist attractions were about a 15-20 minute bus ride away. Not terrible by any means but if you like to be in a more tourist friendly area- this isn't it. Also, the hotel occupies a floor in a commercial building. So the hotel doesn't control the common areas. At night, there are no lights in the hallway/ common area of the building. It's actually pretty creepy trying to make your way in the dark from the main level to the level the hotel is actually located on. I complained about it to the front desk but nothing changed as I am not sure they have the power to change this. Outside of that, I loved the hotel and would recommend it to those who are a bit more adventurous and are ok living outside of the tourist trap.

My wife and I have just returned from Budapest and had a great time. Our son booked us into the Boutique Residence Budapest (Hotel) Hotel in brackets as it's not like any hotel we've been to before. As you approach the building our hearts were in our mouths as the place looked nothing like the pictures. Although it's a stone's throw from the Basilica the building is inauspicious to say the least. The entrance is sad and tired with a lift from the 50s. However as soon as the door is opened its like a different world. The welcome was warm and genuine, and the interior is modern and immaculately clean. The room (109)was a lovely size also very modern and immaculately clean. The bathroom was lovely and ultra modern, with good quality fittings. Basically everything you would need was there. Breakfast is the anomaly, the Continental breakfast is allocated to the room. It comes in cute baskets with your name and room number. It typically consists of 3 assorted bread rolls and a croissant each, with a butter, pot of pâté, three cherry tomatoes,a bottle of juice and a jam. More than adequate but odd. If you're looking for a great coffee and good selection of pastries cafe Artisan is a right turn out of the building and straight across the junction and on the right. The location is fantastic close enough to get around but not noisy. Public transport is fantastic, local and with the help from Google with the names, very easy to navigate. A great find, we would definitely stay here again.

I travel often to Budapest and always look for an accomodation that is out of the ordinary: the Pest-Buda perfectly fits in this category. The location is fantastic, near the Castle, and the building itself is extremely well renovated. The beds are amongst the best I‘ve ever slept in -that‘s something coming from an extensive traveller! The service was flawless: the manager went out of his way to help me even though it was Christmas. I warmly recommend this hotel to everybody looking for something special: I stayed in the Attic Suite and I‘ll surely come back! One thing that could be improved: the vathing towels could be a bit bigger and the vathroves were size „M“, so too small for me. The hotel might want to consider asking the guests which size they need: so much a better feeling to get out of the bathtub and slip on a comfortable bathrobe!

I have spent my holidays on New Year's Eve at Vik Rooms in Budapest. I booked a room for 4 nights starting from 31st Dec 2018. I had to pay almost € 100 per night without breakfast. The room was basic, not worth € 100 per night, but I accepted it. After the first night I found cockroaches in the bathroom. The next night I had cockroaches in bed and the flush's pusher fell into the flush tank inside the wall. Therefore I told the young guy at the reception that this can't be accepted anymore. While I was visiting the city he spoke to his boss and in the late afternoon they offered me another room for compensation. Now we had to seek for the TV's remote control. After some time we found it in a drawer between towels but the TV was still not to use as there was no TV cable. After the third unsuccessful attempt I booked a nice 3 or 4-star hotel behind the American embassy for the same price with breakfast included!! On the next day the Vik Room's owner offered me € 100 for compensation which I refused, as I did not spent not only one, but two nights at this 'establishment'. I requested € 200 for two nights as I did not sleep there. I did not request anything for all these inconveniences I had the nights before. As the owner refused to compensate 2 nights I told him that I would write a proper comment in booking.com. After that he set my reservation to 'noShow' so it was not possible to write this comment in booking.com. This is the way you will be treated at Vik Rooms. Have a nice holiday!!

The shuttle bus from the airport to Garden House was about a 20 minute journey. Buzzed to get in and we felt welcomed and comfortable right from the start and to the end of our stay. The man on reception was helpful and informative. Then another man came in and like us, he was from England. He was outstanding with the amount of advice he gave us and places he recommended. He circled a few places on the map he gave us and that was useful. Dropped our bags off in the room (number 6) and we were away walking to the city centre. You can get to city centre areas in 10-12 minutes or so but to get to a riverside bridge maybe about half an hour. We discovered various eateries and bars on our way back and these were very good. McDonalds was also on the way and was useful for a quick snack. We did try local foods too! Some reviewers have said the area is a bit scruffy. Nah, it's not much different to many streets in the main centre and we have never felt safer in a major city than we did here no matter what time of day or night. Garden House - the staff - all friendly, polite and helpful Rooms - our room was good. The floor had a slight slant but it was fine. There is an angled wall in the bathroom and I banged my head on it EVERY day at least 2 or 3 times. We had a kettle and some coffee. The TV had lots of channels. I managed to track down an English speaking news channel. Yay! I also watched football and we all know we don't need any particular language for that. The shower was great! The room was pretty warm and that was good. garden - there is a small garden with a few seats and they are covered in case of rain. It was a very chilled out place to sit. Location - we tried many foods whilst in Hungary and because of this, we walked everywhere and did not use public transport so we could burn calories. So the location was perfect for us. It's not too far out anyway and we never had any problems finding our way back. The rooms were cleaned every day and we had new towels and the beds were made. We checked out on our last morning and we were allowed to keep our bags in the reception area so we went out and enjoyed our day. We were then permitted to use the garden area to sit in and wait for our shuttle and we could have coffee if we wanted it. The staff are so relaxed and friendly making it feel like a good temporary home. We had a great stay overall and we would totally recommend it.

If you are not a night owl or a person who sleeps easily, I would not recommend you to stay in this hotel. The first floor of the hostel is a nightclub. The hostel has a hollow design, which means that there is basically no wall between the room and the nightclub. Fried songs every night until four o'clock in the morning! ! If you need a peaceful environment, don't stay.

We were dropped off 6 blocks off target by our miniBUD van driver. Once we finally walked and arrived at the correct address, it appeared to be an apartment building. It's a bit confusing because the name plate for the hotel is small, gold and not on the call box. It's actually on the wall of the building so it's easy to miss. We ran the bell and the very lovely manager of the 5 room hotel came to let us in. The courtyard inside appears run down with lots of mildew or similar around the brick planters. Then you enter the little hotel. Wow. Completely redone. 5 cute bedrooms modernly decorated and a very pretty bathroom. There is a communal kitchen that the 5 individually locking rooms can use. I did not hear any street traffic but I could hear other guests moving around mid morning. It fit our needs perfectly and was very reasonable.

Me, my partner and parents stayed here for 4 nights at the end of January. On arrival check in was smooth and we were given the cards for our rooms. Both rooms were spotlessly clean and very spacious (much bigger than be expected) and they had everything we needed for a great holiday, we even used the kitchen facilities, which is unusual for us. The reception staff were really friendly and helped us in regards to directions when we first arrived. I have stayed in various hotels all over the years and I have to say this was the quietest hotel we’ve stayed in, we never heard anyone in their rooms or in the corridors. The hotel location was perfect for us, just down from the boulevard but far away not to be disturbed at night. it was easily accessible to wherever we wanted to walk to.

This is the best hotel I've stayed on when traveling in Eastern Europe. As soon as I entered the hotel room, I felt very warm and comfortable. There's free water and cola, both tomorrow. This is not available in many hotels. The bath water is also very large and hot, and I personally like it. Breakfast is western food, but a little more than other hotels. The location is also a hotel I am very satisfied with. Close to subway station, bus station, easy to go anywhere. Fisherman's Bastion can be reached on foot from the hotel in less than ten minutes. Very convenient. Recommended for freelancers in Budapest.

I am happy to write a nice review for the House Oktogon. I stayed here with my friends and we want to thank everyone at House Oktogon for such a pleasant stay. The place is very clean and fully equipped with anything you will need. We were given advice on where to eat and which places to visit. The location of House Oktogon is excellent and central to where everything is located. On our next visit we will stay there again. Thank you.
