As the northernmost star hotel in the world, and even the most northern hotel in the world, this Radisson Hotel itself has many selling points that other hotels do not have. When you arrive at the hotel lobby, you will be able to feel the thick atmosphere of the northern part of the land, the wooden floor is high, and there is a special area for snow boots at the door. It is said that the locals used to enter the house to put heavy snow. The boots are placed in the door, and then the bare feet enter the house. The hotel is also recommended, but it is not forced, so you will see someone barefoot, and some people wear shoes. There is a standing polar bear specimen in the lobby, which is really tall. The hotel room key is still a traditional key. Going down the house number to find the room is told to go uphill. In the other building, the original room is divided into two, one is with the building where the lobby is located, and the other is left after going out. The location is relatively high. The hotel does not have a lift, so it is really difficult for people who have big luggage. Our room is on the 3rd floor, and it takes a lot of effort to carry luggage. Hotel conditions may not be as good as other hotels, but think about the location here, you will find that these are already very luxurious. The facilities in the room are quite comprehensive, the heating is also very adequate, and adjustable. After we arrived here, we arranged outdoor activities every night. Every time we came back from the outdoors, the warmth of the face would indeed make people feel happy. The restaurant in the hotel restaurant is in the lobby and the view is very good. In October, the snow-covered peaks are opposite to the high-cold blue and blue waters. The breakfast is very rich and there is a special supply. The glacier water is very interesting. However, the reminder is that the restaurant only serves breakfast and dinner. In addition, the hotel has a small souvenir shop, as well as a small outdoor hot pool, which is very pleasant in the cold air. In short, staying here is really an experience.

The breakfast is excellent and the restaurant is also good. The hotel is furnished in a unique mining style. The rooms are slightly small. The hotel and the town center are separated by a river, but the small town is not a problem.

I visited Svalbard with my son in dec/ Jan and split my time between basecamp and another hotel. BASECAMP is right in the middle of the town centre so within safe walking distance of most cafes restaurants etc. As there was a bear about!! From we arrived we felt totally at home and comfortable enough to ask all the stupid questions tourists probably ask!! They helped book excursions for us in advance, helped with taxis to restaurants etc. I was concerned as the first night we were booked on an overnight elsewhere and would have several hours to kill before heading there but the hotel gave us our room a night early as no one had booked it. ! Incredibly cosy, like a log cabin, with ladders to beds on mezzanine and a hatch into a communal lounge space with tv and games. It’s not for everyone, and somewhat unconventional but it was perfect for us.

During my stay in Longyearbyen I stayed at Funken Lodge from sunday to thursday. Realy nice clean rooms, with all you needs. The resturant at Funken is one of the best in Longyearbyen, and the breakfast area has a fantastic view over the city. I'm impressed and had a realy good time at Funken Lodge.
