Why not 5/5 you might ask? On the 2nd night the reception gave a gay couple the key to my room. I found out about it when they walked in at around 10PM as I was falling asleep. They must have thought I was a present from the hotel. Little to say the unnecessary awkward minute interaction lead to inability to sleep for the next 2 hours and a consequent drop in efficiency at work the next day. The hotel cleaning staff drops a discount card under your door if you don't want your room cleaned, which is a cute gesture from their side. Nonetheless, the first day a week after I decided to let them clean the room, the staff mistaken my bag with toothbrush, paste, shaving cream, razor and nail scissors for a garbage bag and threw it out. Other than they let me use their microwave and offered their restaurant cook to boil the rice I wanted to cook myself. The hotel staff is extremely friendly. The suppressing majority of interactions were very pleasant, and a few neutral. No bad ones tho.

Stayed for 3 nights in a four bed dorm room 101, with an ensuite bathroom. On checking in, you’re given clean sheets for the bunk bed. A sheet for the mattress, pillow covers and a large sheet (not a duvet) to go underneath the blanket. In room 101, the bunkbeds are custom made and each is independently attached to the walls. This makes for pleasant sleeping as it doesn’t shake whenever your bunkmate moves. The mattress is covered with plastic sheeting, which I really hate because they make me hot and sweaty. The fitted sheets go the mattress, the other sheet for the blanket is not a duvet cover i.e. the blanket simply sits on top of the sheet, this annoyed me as well. I’d rather not touch the blanket. Although there’s more than enough space for four bags, there's only two cupboards with two locks, so I don’t see how four strangers could share two. The dorm has a separate toilet and shower, plus two sinks. Which is obviously a good thing. Though both the toilet and shower are “boxy”. I could just squeeze into the toilet. The bathroom is slightly bigger, but is quite small by most standards, although it was fine for me as I’m quite slim. The Wifi can be intermittent at times. Inside the dorm room, Wifi can be unusable at times. Outside, the connection cuts off then comes back after about a minute. The hostel has fantastic common area with books and games, the outdoor part of the common area has outdoor seating and also great views of the Belfry, which looks like it’s directly above the hostel. Breakfast was included in the price and it’s pretty decent by hostel standards. A few cereal options, plus bread, jams, cheese and meat slices to eat. Tea, coffee and juices for drinks. Location wise, the hostel is only 5 minutes walk to the Grand Place and about 15 minutes to the main train station.. Mons is pretty small anyway and most of the attractions are within easy walking distance. Overall I had an above average stay, but I didn’t like the sheets and the poor Wifi annoyed me.

I stayed at this hotel for one day. This hotel has everything thing you need for a short visit. The room was clean and nice bed. The location is great. The hotel is location few hundred meters from the Grand Place. You can easily get to the hotel by car and a lot of free parking and it takes you only 5 minutes to walk to the Grand Place where you can eat at some of the restaurant there. I had a breakfast for 12€ and it was ok.

Fantastic, kind and warm people Stayed for 2 weeks before moving in to accommodation. Everyone here has been so friendly and helpful. There is a family feel about the hotel and restaurant. House keeping have been extremely kind. Doing laundry which being here for 2 weeks has been a massive help. I honestly don’t believe I have stayed in a hotel like this anywhere in the world. Food at the restaurant is awesome. Sorry to have to Leave but will always want to come back and stay.

We first stayed at Stéphanie & Julien after an enjoyable supper in Mons and loved the overnight stay & Sunday brunch experience. Their warm welcome, interior design taste and excellent cooking skills were much appreciated. We then asked them to organise a private brunch with 20+ friends. They were very well taken care of and food was both excellent in quality and quantity. The beautiful summer weather even allowed us to make the most of the roof terrace and garden. Thanks again and we’ll definitely be back ;-) Greg & Alex

If you build a hotel in an isolated location (which this is) you’re kind of honour bound to make staying there easy. Utopia was booked by my company as it was convenient for work but it wouldn’t have been my first choice. My room had damp in the wall, a grubby sink and dead mosquito remains on the walls. No fridge, pillow option or English speaking TV which is very rare for a 3 star hotel nowadays. I ate in the restaurant for 2 nights. The first night was good, the second not so. In fairness they were preparing for a wedding but the service and food quality did drop as a result. The staff were all polite just busy. I believe it has potential with a regular trade but needs a bit of TLC bring up the standard.

An overnight stay, combined with dinner and breakfast, was ruined by the appalling behaviour of children attending some sort of presentation. The only adults who appeared to be with this mob of wild children appeared to be completely unable to quell any aspect of the children’s behaviour. The hotel staff present did not attempt to control this dangerously out of control behaviour, consisting of groups of children running up and down corridors, knocking on bedroom doors, etc. Not the sort of behaviour any civilised society should accept. During the evening a fire alarm was set off, which appeared to be totally ignored by staff, in that no evacuation procedure took place and no explanation was given. This alarm continued to sound intermittently throughout the evening. What would have happened if, in fact, an actual fire had occurred? Perhaps management of the hotel need to improve their procedures, in respect of both fire safety, plus vetting of conference room bookings with rules set in place to ensure safety and well being of ALL their clients.
