The resort itself is beautiful. But since we arrived the welcoming at the reception was not at all pleasant. Maybe it was because we visited on a weekend yet weekends are when most people arrive and first impression matters. The room we got was a deluxe double and not worth the price. Absolutely not. Some of the lights and switches in the room doesn’t work. They haven’t maintained it forever I guess. And the wifi didn’t connect throughout the stay for any of us. We had to wait overnight after calling for room service to clear out certain things. And when it came to food, it was delicious but not many varieties to choose from. Can rate a 6/10. I’m sure some can find a much better place worth the same price. Lunch way actually good. No complaints about that. Overall was okay but not up-to expectations.

Wow- what an incredible resort. It was the last destination for our 2 week holiday around Sri Lanka & it was amazin!. Definitely a place that you could stay for a week or more to relax & unwind and do day tours from, if required. The staff were polite & so helpful. A personal staff member is assigned to you-we had the charming Chaminda-who tended to our every need. The house boys and other staff were also lovely. We met the General Manager-who was delightful & assured us that nothing was too difficult. The food was exceptional, with no buffets, but a-la-carte dining for all meals. The chef came out to meet us & was able to satisfy one of our gluten free friends with ease. The pool & other equipment is good. I would highly recommend this boutique resort if travelling to Sri Lanka-you don't need to go elsewhere-just relax & enjoy the serenity!!!

We stayed here only for one night during our our honeymoon. Although the actual villa and decor of the place itself, rooms etc were of a high standard, we were extremely disappointed with the service. When we arrived to check in, it appeared the limited staff were not prepared despite our advance booking. The main lobby area was dirty. We were left waiting with no-one advising us as to when we could check in or when our room would be ready until we had to ask. It was also disappointing that as this is located in a remote area, that there is no proper food or drinks menu despite indicating there is. We were told if we wanted food that there is no kitchen service so to order well in advance as ot is made to order only. None of the drinks listed were actually available when we ordered either and we found out that there are no alcholic beverages served as they do not have a license to sell it. This was not indicated on the website when booking and for guests coming to relax, this information should be made clear. At a point in the afternoon the few staff available all disappeared and we had nobody to take any drinks orders. Luckily we had brought our own with us. Also as we were never actually 'checked in' as you would in any 4 star establishment, with amenities etc explained, so we had no idea where to go for breakfast the following morning, and ended up wandering until we found it. We sat there for quite some time and eventually my husband had to go find the kitchen area to ask for drinks where he found three staff members all sitting around chatting with no interest in serving us prior to this. The food that was served at breakfast was very tasty and we could not fault that, but overall for the price you pay per night this is absolutely not the service that you would expect and would not recommend anyone waste their money when you can easily find another high standard hotel and spend the same amount. Poorly run and although the staff were polite, the problem appears to be that the owners do not staff their establishment well enough.

Just Wow! This property is just so amazing. It is a little piece of heaven just before Putnam town but transforms you to a little oasis away from it all. It is the perfect hide out for those who want to get away and just catch up with family or close friends. Play board games, watch movies and enjoy the garden and the solitude this place provides. For the more adventurous, it is also very close to Wilpattu National Park for wild life enthusiasts, close to Kalpitiya for those who want to kite surf or whale/dolphin watch and Anuradhapura and the cultural triangle for those culture buffs. Thus loads to do if you want to explore! However one of the best thing about Bethany is the food! :-) From the tin kiri tea, to the prawn curry and paratas and pretty much everything done at Bethany, is done very well. Both the eastern and western food are amazing. Not a surprise being owned by total foodies! All in all this is our go to place for family and friends get aways and will be back again soon on our next trip to SL. Thanks so much to Chaminda and all the staff who looked after us so well. Azam you continue to amaze with all the detail in the garden that continues to improve every time. It is just amazing! Last but not least ask to meet the killer Bethany pack of beagles! :-) They are just a delight and if at all it will be death by eating or I should clarify over eating! :-)

Comfortable room with private bathroom, great mosquito net around the bed. Staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Good food, made with love. Little, but beautiful garden with a small swimming pool. Nice to hang out to relax and refresh. Direct view at the lagoon from the restaurant and the garden, which is not only pleasant for the eyes, it also gives often a nice breeze. So the place doesn't become so sticky hot. If you're a kite surfer it's very handy to be able to see the wind conditions directly from your hotel. I fell in love with this place. I would not recommend this resort to people that need a 5 stars hotel standard. This is a resort were you feel welcome and were you can allow your heart to open.

I just stayed for a bit over 2 weeks in Kite Bay Resort. I came there to do some kitesurfing, and if you come in the right season it really is a great spot for that, for beginners as well as advanced kitesurfers. Staying at Amjads place made it really easy and comfortable for me to enjoy the surroundings of Kalpitiya and go to the kitesurf spot with a bicycle every day. The rooms are basic but good and Amjad really put some effort in creating a nice outdoor area, perfect for some morning yoga sessions, to chill out in the hammock or a slackline to keep you busy if there is no wind for kitesurfing. The atmosphere was super relaxed and Amjad organises everything for you to make you happy. The WIFI was mainly very good and strong, so you can sometimes there is a powercut but never very long and it's just something you will have to deal with if you want to travel in remote places. The food was some of the best I had in Sri Lanka. He cooks dinner every night and it's not the typical Sri Lankan food, more like some fusion Asian almost Thai cuisine and he takes care about what you like to eat and it's never been the same in more than 2 weeks. For me it was perfect, we had fresh fish almost every night and also the breakfast he did something different every morning. Since in Kalpitiya most accommadtion includes the food, there are not many other options where you can eat unless you wanna make your way to town every night which you don't want to deal with after long days in the water, I wouldn't think about eating anywhere else than at Amjads place. The staff working there was also always very helpful and friendly, he has a lot of friends in the area including a local kitesurf instructor Rimjan who offers you cheaper kitesurf-lessons than the bigger western owned kitesurf schools. Our last evening he took us at a mangrove tour with a friends boat which was quite amazing since you get the idea how remote but also beautiful this area really is. So either if you're coming to kitesurf or just to relax to Kalpitiya, you won't regret staying in Kite Bay Resort. I was really sad having to leave and hope I can come back one day!

We stayed at Elements for 4 nights in a beach villa. Our first holiday to Sri Lanka with a 2 year old. All our communications with the hotel's manager before our arrival were prompt and very helpful. Samitha arranged a pick up from the airport and also booked a kite surfing course for me. I fell in love with the villa s giant hammock and the whole setting. This is real nature. One of the most beautiful sunsets I have ever seen. The villa is spacious ,arranged on three levels and there is a lovely outdoor jungle shower. This is an eco resort. There are no plastic bottles or any unnecessary junk. But you have everything you need inc a small fridge and a kettle. The night time at the villa was unique as it was really important to keep your mosquito net properly sealed so that insects do not come into your bed. The donkeys that roam the fields around the villas can sometimes be noisy but we got used to them, they were part of the experience. It was a wonderful detox from modern world's cognitive noise and distraction. There was food WiFi at the restaurant and lounge area. The fact that the price included dinner was very welcomed as there aren't many options for dining in the area. Every night the meal was delicious and we would like to thank Roy (chef) who proudly told me that he has 22years of experience in hotel catering. All the staff was smiley, polite and helpful. We soon got to meet most of the hotel residents and there was a lot of mingling in the chill out lounge. The babies and children were all happy playing on the sandy floor of the restaurant or running around at the chill out lounge. The sea was beautiful and the sand white and soft. The hotel has an advantageous spot for kite surfing and I really enjoyed all my lessons. The story of how the owners started this resort and their ethics behind it is very interesting. This is a must place to visit in Sri lanka and I am hoping to come back again for some more kite surfing! PS: Tip: go for the beach villa if you can best view and closest to the sea

Been here for three weeks to kite and it was a very pleasant stay. Varying Sri Lankan breakfast which is very nice. Good price and a very nice family. Basic rooms. The bed was somewhat simple and if your a couple it will be very small I reckon. Food is more expensive than other sri lankan places, but it is all-organic and plastic-free.
