At the 5th floor there is a brothel. I think it describes the best the situation of the hotel. On the stairs i have seen 3 dead cockroaches, it is not a good start if you think to eat in the hotel. The safe in the room is not fixed, so easily everybody can have it with full of your values. The view is terrible, the windows are really thin, like you stayed on the streets. Ridicolous. I change the hotel.

The staff here is friendly and helpful although there is no reception area, but a small & comfortable cafeteria right at the lobby (on the second floor). The breakfast is just acceptable, so don’t expect something special to eat. Actually they served us the instant noodle (phở) with chicken for our first morning and egg with bread for the second one. The room is so quite new, with modern facilities and nice decoration. And this apartment is located at somehow in a quiet and peaceful area so I highly recommend it to people who like the not so crowded environment.

Stayed here for three nights in total as part of a north to south tour or Vietnam with Swallow Travwl(seperate review) Check in was very efficient and staff very informative. We stayed our first night in a beautiful double room on the 10th floor I think it was, the same floor as the terrace. Unfortunately there was some noise from the roof on that first day after we arrived after 24hrs of travel. I believe, having spoken to reception staff, that as there was some work going on for the emergency stairwell. We checked out the following morning to go on a tour of Halong Bay. We returned the following day and although our new room was on the same floor it was much larger. The bathroom was huge with a wonderful shower &huge comfy bed. Breakfast buffet was also very nice with a good variety of local dishes, pastries and eastern style food. Plenty of options to set you up for a day of sight seeing. All the staff here are amazing and I believe they are one of the hotel's best asset, along with its location and cleanliness. Every one of them from the doorman to receptionists to the ladies& gents in the restaurant at breakfast always have a smile and a greeting for you.(sorry I can't remember names!) Would have no hesitation in staying in this hotel again and/or recommending it to friends or family. Well done to all involved, they made our stay in Hanoi wonderful. On a side note there is a lovely backery directly across the road too!

We had a wonderful time in Hanoi - although Corona crisis gave us a hard time - just because we had the chance to find this cute and cosy and so welltreated house in Old Quarter, Hanoi. Anne cared for us all the times, even during the days when we tried to travel countryside. When the crisis even forced us to change our flights - and you remember that all flights were later stopped at a certain stage of the pandemy - she found a way to bring us home to Germany by personally fighting for new tickets for us! Remarkable lady! Furthermore, her auntie is a wonderful cook and surprised us with tasty dishes. And Hannah and Jen were very helpful and so friendly, too. The house is very clean, the coffee is super tasty, the concept with food from locals for breakfast is really smart, the location is perfect and the rooms are cosily designed and well equiped. We will definitely come back!

My favorite thing about Golden Time Hostel 3 was the staff. Every member of the staff was helpful, kind, courteous and made me feel as though I was a member of the family. In particular I want to acknowledge the receptionist Na. She was amazing. She helped me book tours for: Ha Long Bay & Sa Pa (both of which were absolutely fantastic and fun!). She also helped me book buses to Ha Giang as well as a flight to Da Nang. When it came to Na she really went above and beyond to help me have the best time in Vietnam. I was actually quite sad to say goodbye to Na when I finally left Ha Noi. Aside from the staff the hostel itself is great. The rooms are very clean. The beds are memory foam which were super comfortable. The location is right in the heart of Old Town Ha Noi - everything seems to be within walking distance (the lake, the church, the War Museum, the memorial to Ho Chi Minh were all accessible by foot). I stayed in 3 or 4 different rooms while in/out of Ha Noi and each room had a fan, AC, TV. Golden Time Hostel 3 really met and exceeded all of my expectations regarding how a hostel should operate. If I'm ever in Ha Noi again (which I hope in my lifetime I do get to come back to Vietnam) this will be the ONLY place I consider staying. Thank you to everyone @ Golden Time Hostel 3 for making my Northern Vietnam experience so special. (Again, shout out to Na!)

Unless you have business/work to do in this neighborhood, you can skip this hotel and pick a good one in a better part of the city. The Hospitality of the staff and smiling faces is what adds the 3 stars to this hotel and they make you feel at home from the time you enter until you leave. LOCATION: Bit far away from the city center or old town and not the finest neighborhoods and nothing much to do around. DINE + DRINK: Nice Rooftop Restaurant on the 10th floor with sweet views of the cityscape and serving local and international food. ROOM: I stayed in 202, so this review is based on that; VIEW: Sweet view of the arterial road outside and traffic which is actually cool in the night; SIZE: Reasonably spacious room; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part to put me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand in shower; TOILETRIES: Not great, Bring your own! FACILITIES: NO Gym or Pool. Just chill out Asian Style! SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all my needs with a smile and made us feel pampered and well taken care of. Special Shout out to LISA at the front desk HOW WIRED YOU WILL BE: Free high speed Wi-Fi that works well all over the property. Good Plasma TV screen dishing out very limited set of channels spanning sports, news, music, movies and entertainment in a few languages

Hotel is very ageing but well-kept and clean. Bathroom lighting a little dim, furniture on the vintage side. Bed and linen was clean and very comfy. Pillows were especially inviting, Gym is stuffy but you can use the brand new gym next door at its sister hotel. And the pool as well. So it's a good deal. We initially stayed for a few days at another lovely place we'd chosen before leaving NZ. However for a more intimate experience, for even better value, for the gem that others described, we chose the charming, boutique Ladybug when we retuned to Hanoi and ended up staying on two occasions with Hanoi as our base. We noticed it tucked down a little alley we passed on walk to our original hotel and thought it looked cute and worth looking into. We agreed with every positive review we read. And would unhesitatingly chose french quarter over noisier old quarter. The latter is an easy walk or cheap, cheap taxi ride away from Ladybug. In addition to everything else that makes Ladybug fabulous e.g. the bathrooms, decor, comfortable beds; one evening I asked for poached eggs instead of the sunnyside option. My request was not on the menu, despite all sort of other lovely options and I felt I was unwittingly putting them to too much trouble. I was unsure what I was asking for had been understood and asked them not to worry. Well next morning breakfast seemed to take slightly longer... not much mind... the delay, for which our lovely host apologised profusely, was due to the fact that the eggs were poached perfectly and in hollowed out toast. Very artistic and delicious. Eggceptional. I was embarrassed and touched that the lady had gone to so much effort and apparently this was her first time making them! They were a masterpiece and caused a bit of a shared laugh as these were not ordinary poached eggs. The staff really were great. The young guy's English is particularly good and they were all so friendly we would absolutely stay there again on our next visit to Hanoi. Thank you everyone at the Ladybug.

Incredible customer service. The staff here went above and beyond during our stay. Rami, and her sisters, truly made our time here amazing. Rami helped us with booking tours, buses and more. She truly embodies what customer care is. Along with the great staff, the rooms are incredibly clean, A/C, and it’s in a great location that is walking distance from everything we needed. One thing to note is that it is on a busier street so you will hear traffic, but being in the Old Quarter you can’t really escape that anywhere. Highly, highly recommend anyone to stay here- we did, multiple times throughout our journey in Northern Vietnam! :)

Our original plan in Hanoi was to stay for only one night and then travel to Halong Bay but we liked the city so much we asked our hotel for more vacancy, which they did not have (this actually turned out to be a lot better).... Walking around Hanoi all hotels were full, until we arrived Au Cœur de Hanoi Boutique Hotel and we found the friendliest staff ever. They offered us the Au Cœur de Hanoi apartment, helped us get a Grab to get our luggage at our previous hotel and take us to the apartment. At first it was not easy to find the property because it is located at the end of a dead end alley (it sort of looked a bit sketchy but after all it turned out being pretty safe) We were a family of 5 and my sister and nephew and I fit perfectly in one room and my brother and his wife in the other one. The kitchen in the middle with its table and sofa were not big but worked out perfect for what we needed. We stayed for 2 nights and then went to Ha Long Bay. I had kept the contact of the staff in my phone and since our flight was not until midnight from Hanoi airport I asked them through WhatsApp if it was ok to leave our luggage at the Boutique Hotel while we went shopping for souvenirs and then come back to pick up our luggage to fly for our next destination. If I ever come back to Hanoi I will definitely stay either at this apartment or boutique hotel.

Santa Barbara Hotel reminds me of some old hotels in Italy - quiet and quaint. If there were tiny verandas with flower plant boxes, the similarities would have been complete. Although there was indeed a nice garden up the 6th floor where we had breakfast - munching on some noodles while watching the typical Hanoi street scene below was precious. In a place where store front space is prized (and heavily taxed, that's why most Hanoi buildings are narrow front and up but built deep across), Santa Barbara occupies quite a space - add the Highlands Cafe at the ground floor and the building seems to wrap around two streets! We checked in at around 3am (CebuPac's schedule is really something), found the tiny front lobby in darkness and thought the hotel was closed (we're so used to bright lights at night that this was a pleasant surprise). Of course, hotels are always open and the bright (for that time of day) reception staff (Mr. Bing, sorry if I didn't get the name right), had us checked in in a jiff! Our room had a window that opened directly above the front door. Surprisingly, it wasn't all that noisy and we still had a good four hours of sleep as we needed to be ready before the 8 am pick up for the Halong Bay tour that I've been dreaming of or years. Loved the huge headboard spanning the twin beds, with tacked foamed faux leather that was perfect for my feet as I needed to put them up after walking long hours touring and shopping! Just this is enough reason for me to come back. I remember I also did this in our Beijing hotel after walking more than 20,000 steps at the Great Wall, but my feet only encountered cold concrete! Ouch! The good stuff kept coming - they have nice toiletries, fluffy towels, bathrobes, comfy comforter, and a tub! I love bath tubs! And the one at Santa Barbara was very good for the price we paid for the room. Then there's the service level - friendly and efficient, just like most in Southeast Asia. Cleanliness was excellent - good for sometimes OCs like me. Breakfast fare was modest but filling - loved the mantao, tho they should be always steamed to maintain their fluffiness. The noodle dishes were also very yummy. The location is prime - we walked in any direction and we reached interesting restos, spas, convenience stores, little shopping areas, cafes, etc. The night market is just a walkable distance away - esp. if you're young with lots of excess energy. Don't worry if you get lost, the locals are very friendly and they will use their smart phones to point you in the right direction without fail. We greatly enjoyed our stay, albeit short, in this hotel. On our last day we met some pinoys who also booked this hotel by luck! We'll definitely be back - in Hanoi and Santa Barbara!

A taxi to the hotel as soon as it landed, & # 127976; the distance is a bit far, but the housekeeper will arrange check-in after entering the hotel, there will be a welcome drink and wet towels, the housekeeper is very good, will help you solve all problems, but will recommend an additional 100USD Upgrading a large room can have administrative treatment, but we are out for tourism. Administrative services are completely unavailable, so we refused. The hotel has a very large environment, and there are almost no Chinese. What makes me feel most charming is the small corridor where the hotel introduces its history. The history of more than 100 years is really meaningful, which is why I chose it during my trip. , Let me have a new understanding of Hanoi. The only drawback is that the shower in the bathroom must be in the bathtub. It is very unsafe and it can be dangerous if it slips. Next time I go to Hanoi, I will continue to choose this hotel ~ The design style is also very distinctive ~

Stayed for 2 nights recently at the end of our trip in Vietnam. Had a great welcome by the staff, all very friendly and willing to do anything to help your stay be as comfortable as possible. We did their laundry service which was fabulous, a good price and came quickly. Breakfast was mediocre, not much available but the Pho was delicious. We were offered an upgraded room for an extra $5 dollars but had to change to next door the following night. They claim it has a lake view but we couldn’t see the lake at all. We didn’t care for the view anyway, but there is not point lying about it to future customers. The last room we had had dark mud stains all over the light curtain and stains on the bed. When asked to write a review at the end of our stay, we are watched until finished writing it. After all the positives we had written, we were made to feel uncomfortable about the little things that weren’t great about the room, I feel they really push for great reviews. We have now moved on to another country backpacking, and my partner receives several whatsapp messages from one of the staff members at the hotel. She retrieved his number via booking.com to communicate first off about whether we need an airport transfer. However this time they are continuing to push for a good review which is now getting annoying. She sends heart emojis to him and says she misses him so much. Which may be their version of customer service lost in translation, but it is a little inappropriate to message your customers this way. This hotel would’ve received a lot more stars, but after how much of a big deal has been made about our tiny comments about the stains and how much we’ve been pestered to leave a good review, it has ruined the experience for us.

My friend and I stayed at Moon View Hotel twice as part of our tour package and during our stay in Hanoi in April 2019. Unfourtantly, we were not impressed by the staff, service or location. Upon arrival, after an exhausting day, we were provided with average service and with the wrong room key card. We were then presented with the wrong bedding layout in the room. The first set of rooms we were provided with during our first stay was quite large but outdated and dark. When we asked if a package had arrived from our tour company (as informed by the tour group) the guy at the desk was unhelp and told us that it was not their problem. They also kept our passports from us when we arrived to photocopy and informed us they would provide it later. As a tourist, this is always an uncomfortable experience. We had no help with our luggage upon arrival or departure by the hotel. During our second stay with the tour, the room provided was slightly more modern. However, the service again was average. The guy at the reception had an attitude problem. He was unhelpful and grumpy when asked a question. The location itself was quite far and walking distance from the Old Quarter.

I stayed in Chip's House for a couple of days with my boyfriend when we visited Hanoi and we loved it. The hosts, Loan and her brother, were super friendly and gave us many tips as to where to eat breakfast and what not (Loan had even texted us more tips and places to visit through whatsapp!). We had one of our most favorite and memorable meals during our 6 week SE asia trip here at Chip's House and that was when we accidentally stumbled upon a lunch and fresh spring roll cooking class that was in the kitchen when we walked in. Loan and her family were teaching all of us who were there at that time how to make a proper spring roll, which we afterwards ate in addition to more super delicious homemade vietnamese food. Now most importantly, concerning the accommodation itself: we stayed in a double loft room that had a sea view and it was great. We had air conditioning, a window that stretched an entire wall, a cute little bench area and a small open space underneath the lofted bed. The bathrooms are shared and the toilets/shower stalls were clean. There is also a roof top terrace which has amazing views. The place itself is a bit difficult to find as the entrance looked as if it was in a parking garage, but there are signs that point to you how to get up to Chip's Place. The location is, to be very honest, not that great - for tourists, most of the sites are within Old Town and will require ~30 min walking or a taxi ride. But really, we had such a great time at Chip's Place that we didn't really care too much about it. Thank you Loan and family for such a great and memorable stay!

Graffiti house is a great place to stay. The photos are accurate. The rooms at the back are narrow, but so is the building. It's a little quirky having to find the paint shop for the entrance, and for some reason it is on a street of paint shops. Use Google Maps to help navigate your taxi there. Once found, everything was easy and it's in a great location in Old Town.

Host Thomas is a very nice and caretaking host. His pick up from Hanoi airport had been without any problems and with a good and experienced driver. Wifi works all 2 days excellent. You can deposit your luggage for some days without any problems. Summarized we have had in Thomas' guest house a very good performance-price ratio. We could warmly recommend Thomas' guesthouse to our best friends when they wanted to have a good price - performance ratio and are not looking for a 4 or 5 star hotel which you find everywhere.
