I feel like I'm the only person who isn't blown away by this hotel... We were really excited to stay here since it's really supposed to be on the best hotels in Croatia, and it looked really lovely based on everything I saw online. It just somehow fell short of my expectations, and I was left feeling a little bit disappointed. Good things: - Amazing breakfast. Loooved it. Lots of freshly squeezed juices, a la carte dishes like benedicts and cheese plates, outdoor seating with heat lamps, etc. They really killed it on this aspect. It is insane to me that other nice hotels have continued with buffets and indoor-only dining in a pandemic, and this hotel really does it right. - Cool design - Nice that you can rent bikes - Nice that you get a discount at some really good area restaurants - Valet parking Less good: - We had a suite with a private pool on the terrace. Given that we were staying there in October, I called before booking to ask about the temperature of this pool and if it would be appropriate for use in typical October temperatures. I was assured that it was heated and would be totally fine. Unfortunately, that really wasn't the case. It's not a hot tub but just a normal pool (with massage jets) with a normal pool temperature. It turns out that is really not an enjoyable temperature for October (and our October was even apparently unseasonably warm). I get this and I'm sure it's lovely when it's hot outside, which is when they probably have the bulk of their guests, but I just would have appreciated an honest heads up when I called to check on this very question. Had I known, I would have booked a different (less expensive) room with a sea view, which we didn't have much of because of the two-floor layout of the suite. - It was our honeymoon, which I indicated when I booked, but this was not acknowledged. That's fine but just not the experience we had at the other five-star hotels we stayed at, where we were congratulated and given something nice like champagne or roses. - I was repeatedly addressed as "Miss [last name]" in written and oral communication with the staff, but I'm a doctor. I don't normally care about how I'm addressed, but they specifically ask for your title and I just couldn't shake the feeling that if I were a man, they would have noticed. - Some surfaces and floors of our room, like in the upstairs bathroom, weren't fully clean and had some spots/stains. I know I could have complained about this and I'm sure they would have fixed it, but it was not a big deal and I didn't want any cleaning staff to get in trouble or have extra work. Just unexpected at this type of hotel. - The "leather-bound journal" is not as exciting as it sounds, and there was no instant photography camera. I was actually looking forward to those things so that was kind of sad. Overall, I probably wouldn't stay here again just because it's pricier than other really nice-looking options in Rovinj and I didn't have an es

Was here for two nights while having a conference in a hotel close by. This hotel makes you feel like you are home because staff goes an extra mile to make you feel good and of course since it is small boutique property. Should be good in summer as well (was there in April) since it has a private pool area right in front, with both Rovinj and beach area not far away. Rooms are big, modern and clean and breakfast is really nice with homemade dishes. There is dedicated parking area in front so there is really not much to worry about while staying here.

We visited with 9 year old son for a 5 day break. We upgraded our room to guarantee a view and a well appointed bedroom. Overall we were impressed with the service quality and standard at the hotel. The only shame was the outdoor pool was not heated and there is no waiter bar service from sunbed (this may be a seasonal issue?) The free bike hire was a nice extra as was the use of robes and relaxed feeling this gave the hotel. The indoor pool and spa areas were lovely and not very busy which was nice and my son could splash around while there was no one about. We found the bar lovely and reasonably priced considering the standard of hotel x2 alcoholic drinks and a x1 soft drink approx £16. The ‘chocolate’ night was a lovely addition and our son loved it & We felt welcome in the bar area with him. Breakfast was perfect on the balcony. Really enjoyable. We ate lunch by the pool at the adjoining Lomé hotel. This was ok and again ok value considering the surroundings. One disappointment we had was the tea/coffee situ (lack of!) in the room. Having upgraded I did expect to have this in the room. After 2/3 requests to reception we ended up with a kettle but no cups etc so after this we gave up. I really don’t see why the hotel create an issue over this? The room was an ‘ok’ size for two adults and 1 child but it wasn’t generous. It would not be suitable for an older child. I loved all the Molton brown room treats!

The hotel has its own restaurant, where breakfast is served, ok. The bed is large and there is no extra bed in the room, but there is a large sofa. The location is good, just beside the pier, the old town is right next to it. The hotel offers free parking but stops in another location. The hotel will help you park your car, and the hotel will have a car to the parking lot. The rooms are clean and tidy, with many warm arrangements, such as room perfumes and small snacks. Recommended.

We stayed here for two nights in a really charming apartment. It was clear so much thought had gone into how they had been decorated, even down to the hallways which had little pieces of local art. The couple who run the apartments were incredibly helpful and gave us advice on what to do / see. They were also on hand if we needed anything else at all. They put cold water and juice in the room too - which was a really welcome touch. The location is fantastic, a minutes walk and you are at the marina. Close by to all the restaurants, bars and shops - despite this it was very quiet at night. It was a really comfortable stay and we slept very well! Thank you for having us - we would certainly stay again.

Stayed for three nights in Jun We liked: - location, very central - host, very friendly and helpful - spotless clean - very calm - effective AC Good to know: Old town is car free. We got free parking at the reception, and free transfer by electric cart to our apartment. Super convenient. Can improve: there is no curtain to stop the indirect light coming from the skylight/ patio. So it was not possible to keep the room totally dark in the mornings. No a big problem if one is not sensitive.

Located in Old Town, this very small - 7 rooms only - hotel is in a pedestrian only zone. The hotel staff was phenomenal is meeting our car with a golf cart and showing us where to leave the car, and then bringing us and all our bags by cart right to the hotel door and of course bringing our bags to our room. There is a lift that takes you, slowly, to the third floor. So, even if you are on the 4th, as we were, it's just one flight up! The rooms are beautifully decorated and have recently been updated with modern bathrooms. Breakfasts were good, with made to order eggs and the usual assortment of pastries and cold meats and some fish as well.

Location: Mobile homes are a part of medium sized camp. Special sections are available for these homes. Mobile homes in Forrest section (numbers 185-188) are in a nice and quiet area with nearby parking (approx. 50m). This section is on a steep hill though. It was quite hot in the evenings as there is less windy up there. Time to the beach (downhill) is approx. 7 mins. Camp is very neat and beautiful. Mobile home: House itself is modern, nice, cute and clean. You are welcomed by a covered patio with a table with 6 comfy plastic chairs and 4 sun beds.  Mobile home offers two bedrooms, living room, kitchen and two bathrooms (both with shower). Air condition is working fine but it took us part of a day to cool the bedroom too. AC is located in the living room, towards the kitchen (on a wall between bedroom and living room). The house itself was clean. there was no ants and you get a "welcome package" with dish soap, sponge etc. All the windows have anti-mosquito net. Kitchen: Kitchen is fully equipt (silverware, microwave, coffee machine (for filters), tower refrigerator with freezer drawer, glasses). Basically everything you would need. Bathroom: Bathrooms are standard. Small but there is some storage behind the door and under the sink. Shower is big enough. Beach: Nice beach. Small pebbles on shore and small rocks and even parts of sand in water. It is not deep! Very suitable for children. Beach is clean, nice and accessible (stairs, ramps). There are public showers available (on the beach). Camp: Camp has many toilette houses situated throughout the camp (showers with blowers, WCs, kitchen sinks, foot sinks). There is a pool area, sports area and many shared public grills too. There are 2 ATMs (I recommend the one at reception), a fairly equipped grocery store, bakery, veggie shop, two bars, "fast food" joint, a restaurant (grill, seafood) and pizza place on site. Prices are higher than usual but normal for camp services. There are garbage cans all around the camp (they are emptied on a regular basis, so there is no stink). There are a couple of "recycle centers" available too. Free WIFI is available through the camp, however with a partial coverage (At beach and at houses there is good wifi connection).  Overall experience: Enjoyed it. I would recommend a mobile house closer to the beach as there is no need to walk up a hill so far (however then you are not so close to parking).

So, with airbridges disappearing and previously booked holidays vanishing we took a last minute chance on Resort Amarin with Jet 2 this month...and we were suitably impressed. The flight (Manchester to Pula) was relatively short, a little over 2 hours, and arrival at Pula airport was easy and quick. We were signposted to our transfer - we didn’t pay for the private transfer but we were clearly the only family going to Amarin on that flight so we had the minibus to ourselves which was nice. On arrival we knew we were going to be hanging around; we landed around 11 and check in isn’t til 3pm. That’s annoying but not the fault of the hotel. Had we hired a car it would have been a good opportunity to go to a big supermarket for supplies...but we didn’t do we left cases in the luggage drop at reception, had a nose round the beach and resort and grabbed a bite to eat at the poolside cafe/bar - and I’ll come back to the food later. Once checked in we went to the apartment. Having 2 children and having previously tried to work logistics when the kids are in the lounge area, this time we booked a Premium Apartment which was in the light blue area (or the land of the bathing duck-woman...if you know, you know!). The apartment was good; a friend called it Ikea-modern - plenty of space for the four of us, a decent sized kitchen area which was pretty well equipped, and two good sized bedrooms. Usual stuff, pans, plates, cutlery...there was a coffee machine but no kettle, so tea involved using a pan on the hob - a minor inconvenience. We had an enclosed garden area which was mainly in the shade - no good for drying towels, but good to get out of the midday sun! It was quiet enough, yes you could hear some of the other residents from time to time, but being a bit further away from the pool area meant it didn’t get the evening entertainment. Facilities on the resort were ok. The two main pools are pretty small, it was busy around the pool even though the resort was pretty quiet. If you didn’t get there by about 9am, there was no chance of getting a sun lounger - and at 40 kuna per lounger (plus an additional 40 kuna for an umbrella), staying by the pool could prove costly! We didn’t do it more than once as the sea is a stones throw away and there was plenty of space on the beaches. Food on the resort was good. We didn’t got to the main restaurant at all, and didn’t take breakfast outside the apartment. We did go to the poolside bar/cafe a couple of times and each meal was good - the burgers are amazing! Prices were possibly a little high, but mainly for drinks rather than food (30 kuna for a 500ml bottle of Coke Zero, 69 kuna for a Pina Colada). The supermarket and bakery on resort are massively expensive. I suppose they have a captive audience, but the prices are pretty much unjustifiable. Hence the reason for needing a car; it’s about 3 miles into Rovinj which, in 30+ degree heat is not a pleasant walk! There is a pretty reliable bus that goes into the c

Very good hotel, only a few rooms, very design, very beautiful. Going out for a minute and going to the beautiful bay, this is a great place to watch the sunset. The rooms are fully equipped, but the electric kettle and toothpaste toothbrush need to be provided. The breakfast variety of the hotel is not so delicious, but the taste is very good. The hotel service was in place, the room was cleaned up in time, the hotel owner met us with a warm handshake and asked about the feeling of staying. When we arrived and left the hotel, the waiter sent us to the bus station with a battery car. Every service link can be professionalized. In addition, free travel requires basic oral English communication skills, which is very important.

Set in the heart of the Old Town, The Melegran is exceptionally well maintained and immaculate throughout. We stayed in one of the Luxe rooms which was both spotlessly clean and comfortable, amazing rain shower, coffee machine, excellent wifi and thoughtful little extras. Dragana was brilliant with pre-booking enquiries, a friendly welcome and arranging transport for us on departure, the rest of the team were extremely attentive and approachable. Dragana arranged for us to be collected from the airport in their private car, the last part of the shuttle is done by golf buggy through the cobbled streets of the Old Town with highlights and the best places to eat being pointed out - a great introduction to such a beautiful place. I would highly recommend staying at The Melegran if visiting Rovinj and would certainly stay there again (and again!) Thank you Team Melegran for making our stay in Rovinj such a memorable one. The concept of staying in a medieval building is charming, quaint, and nostalgic but for 130 Euro/night, the amenities and service are very lacking. I can only guess that the owners are tired from the high season and maybe just weary of tourists but I felt that I paid an incredibly high price for almost non-existent service. Because I was the only guest, breakfast was something I needed to request on WhatsApp with the owner. There is no kettle in the room for tea or coffee so there is no luxuriating in the pricey room with a warm beverage - you have to wait for the owner to get there and honestly, he can't cook and it's obvious he just rolled out of bed. I more or less took care of myself and crept around the tunnel area (very creepy) near the kitchen trying to find food for myself (most mini-markets and stores were closed for the season). It was just strange. Yes, I was offered breakfast and even dinner but it was like they'd rather be at home than be at reception (which they almost never were) or having breakfast ready at a set time. The tipping point was the value for the money - it's simply not there. I had a room with a fireplace but no fire! How is that ok? I should have had a fire every evening for 130 Euro. The owner said it was due to a low pressure system that I couldn't have a fire without the room being smokey. Well, the weather lifted and so his excuse was no longer valid. And, the room is smokey regardless of weather due to it being at the rooftops thus getting smoke from neighboring chimneys. Also, hot water lasts for 30-45 SECONDS - yes, you read correctly - there is no hot water to be had. I don't complain during my stay because it involves someone being in my room on my time and that is simply unacceptable. I am stunned that this is a Rick Steves' recommendation. I also want to note that if you are a woman travelling alone -- avoid this place.

We stayed in hotel Amarin for the first time this February, for 4 days/3 nights. They offer a full board, which we liked, with drinks included. You can order yourself other beverages than water/juice from the machine, but no one is pushing you to do so. Food was excellent, from breakfast to dinner, lots of choices. I wouldn’t say it’s the healthiest, but it was delicious and something for everyone. Staff in the restaurant was nice, they clean the tables all the time and also disinfect children’s highchairs (from Stokke!) after each use. Respect! Also they don’t have like hotel cards which you need for room electricity, room entry... they have wristbands. Super convenient. You also pay with them at the cafe. Reception staff was ok, I mean I don’t go there for a chat, but only for check in and checkout, so yeah, they do their job. Rooms are large, hotel is new, our balcony was facing the playground and partially the sea. I like a nice view, so this was fine. I also like my sleep, so when the hotel is kid friendly and all the kids go to bed early, the hotel gets really quiet and this is what I really appreciate! It was quiet from 10 pm to at least 7am, mattress on the bed was awesome and I got to sleep for the first time in a while, especially in a hotel. Much obliged! In most hotels you have nothing to do, but here your kids can enjoy different playrooms, movie room, pool area was also nice and the water in the pool was warm, not cold as in some other hotels. Which is super important. Everyone also gets a towel card so you get a fresh towel everytime you go to the pool. Outdoor playground is a dream, lots of climbing possibilities, they offer bike rental or for smaller children push bike/ scooters to travel on the paths around the hotel. I mean everything is still very new, currently they are building a beach and doing lots of outdoor work, but it is nice, at this time reasonably priced (in the summer sadly too expensive for us), car park is free and large, lobby cafe pretty and serves great coffee... I can’t find a negative thing to say and I always find something wrong with places I visit on holiday. Thank you for your hospitality, hotel Amarin and staff. We will certainly return in the next winter.

Lovely, clean and well managed boutique hotel in a terrific location in the old town centre of Rovinj. Rooms are well cared for and bathrooms are newly renovated with good water pressure in the shower. The greatest asset to this beautiful hotel, however, is its staff. Adriano (who is genuinely as lovely as humans come) and his colleagues made my mom and I feel safe, welcomed and cared for in the short time we stayed in Rovinj. In this difficult year, all staff meticulously followed Covid-19 safety measures protecting guests and themselves, but somehow still managed to radiate the warmth, friendliness and helpfulness that truly make a holiday special and memorable. Breakfasts are served hygienically at the table in a beautiful courtyard with fresh items individually sealed for each table. I truly commend the effort they have made and hope they are rewarded for it, especially Adriano - it wouldn't have been the same without his input. When the world opens up again, we will be back at Angelo d'Oro because of the exceptional yet dignified level of service from their staff. You're all an example to the industry on how to do this right.

Knowing that parking in Rovinj is a challenge was one of the reasons I first chose Residence Rovinj&, which has free parking and is only what we regarded as short (15-20 minute) walk into the heart of the town. Having stayed there for four nights, I can now add many more reasons why travelers to the area should choose this hotel. Our room was very spacious, simply but beautifully appointed, and was clean and very quiet. Hotel managers Ivan and Ana were unfailingly helpful--making and checking restaurant reservations for us, providing suggestions on sights and best routes there. Breakfasts were among the very best we had during our nearly three weeks of travel in Croatia--eggs cooked to order and a great many sweet and savory buffet options. Regarding the location of the hotel: If you are planning on visiting sites all around Istria as we did (one day exploring Motovun and other hill villages, another in Pula, and a third split between a morning in Porec and afternoon in Rovinj), Residence Rovinj& is an excellent choice since you will not have to expend time and money on parking within/adjacent to the town and can easily access roadways. We'd recommend without any hesitation whatsoever!

What a brilliant hotel! We visited Island Hotel Istra following the Corona virus pandemic and lockdown, so social distancing measures were in place but this just made the visit even more comfortable and happy. The main positive about this hotel is the setting. If you want a reasonably priced, romantic holiday- this is the place to be! Watching the sunset from our balcony on the first day was just the perfect start to our holiday! Our 'superior double room with a sea view' was a good size and cleaned everyday (the shower is powerful, which is a big positive for me!) And always felt clean and comfortable. Plus, our Aircon worked brilliantly. They also have shampoo, shower gel, conditioner & moisturiser (if you're not fussy about bringing your own). The staff were all really friendly (leading aqua aerobics at one of the pools each day too!) We chose an airport transfer which brought us to the pier in Rovinj to then catch the taxi boat. Luggage is loaded into a luggage area and then when docked on the island, the luggage was transported to the hotel for us which is a lovely added extra. There is a buffet restaurant, a pizzeria and a grill for eating out (but we mostly got the taxi boat to Rovinj). There a couple of bars to enjoy too so you could easily stay on the island the whole time...but imo, Rovinj is too beautiful to miss! The pools are great and, for us, it was reassuring to see how well distanced the sunbeds were. There are 4 pools too (2 larger, 2 smaller, 2 are salt water and 2 are chlorine) so even more distance. We didn't use the spa as we were always happy by the pool and sitting in the pool bar but that's another extra bonus! Another thing we liked was being able to 'pay on the room' which meant not worrying about carrying any cash around. One thing we did regret was not adding the buffet dinner to our booking. One of the evenings brought a storm our way so we decided not to take the taxi boat and chose to stay to have the buffet dinner. We were charged €25 each for this when we could have added it to our original booking for an extra £15. I would recommend booking this if you think you might want to try the buffet-even for one night-it would work out cheaper. This aside, we loved our stay here and wouldn't hesitate to book again. Thank you to all the wonderful staff for making our stay so wonderful in this difficult times.

Amazing staff, friendly and smiley at all times. They have a mini club for kids to be babysit while dancing, coloring, playing. Almost every night there is entertainment with life music, mini disco and mini quiz for kids. Restaurants are good, pizza was nice and drinks were also good. Pool area very clean and spacious. Private beach at walking distance from apartments. Definitely recommend the apartments, individual little houses, about 45-50 sqm. Will definitely come back again next summer if I can. Mini market on the spot, more like a convenience market although prices compared to outside supermarkets were a bit high. But you find first need groceries. House keeping and other staff extremely nice and helpful. COVID-19 safe place as they are enforcing use of masks in all enclosed areas, tables and seats are properly distanced and there is hands anytime right almost every place you go to. Beach as said above was super nice and clean, little pebbles and shallow water makes it great for toddlers like mine.

Checking was slightly confusing a bit of miscommunication The apartment was very clean and large and nicely decorated. Pretty newly renovated.it did have a view of the water and markets. It was a little noisy at times but not after 8 pm The bed was quite firm and the pillows very large. The hot water was inconsistent and didn’t work at all the last day The alarm system was very sensitive and did not work all the time. The staff were helpful with recommending local restaurants and Car hire

Ok, no-frills apartment on a good location right on the edge of old town. Our apartment's entrance was on the ground level while the windows (that had the sea view mentioned in the name of the place) in the other end of the apartment were on the second floor level. There are apparently multiple apartments so your mileage may vary. The kitchenette had basic utensils and a coffee pod machine, AC was working properly, the only minor complaint we had was that previous guests had been smoking inside even though it is a non-smoking property so it took a couple of hours to get rid of the smell.

On arrival I initially got a very good impression. Clean, nice green lawn, modern. But the female receptionist seemed super bored and could barely put on a smile for us. She did what she was supposed to do but she really should find a new job unrelated to service. The other girl in the reception was VERY happy on the other hand. Pure joy! The other girl should learn from her. We stayed in a mobile home area 160 with whirlpool. We were very happy with it. Modern, clean, good space and houses not too close to each other. After a few days however some noisy couples moved in next to us (not really disturbing but a bit annoying, talking loud etc) and we asked to be moved to another house. We got super nice service and was told it was no problem. We decided to stay despite of this and the couples left after a few days. The whirlpool was a great addition and the pool cleaning guy did a great job changing the water etc. Very service minded and friendly. The restaurant in the camping is good. Not amszing but good quality. Even better than most other around the area. There is a fruit stand here which is qay too over priced but the fruit is of excellent quality. The main pool is a bit too noisy and over crowded so we avoided it but the pool areas for mobile home guests are superb. Polari should make sure however that only mobile home guests can use these pools as anyone can enter the area and at times it could get over crowded here too although not bad at all. We were a bit disappointed with Istria in general, not because of the people or nature (we love it), but because in our opinion at least the restaurants and food did not meet our expectations. Being so culturally and geographically close to Italy it was surprisingly hard to find even decent pasta dishes. These guys know fish best so stick to that. We loved Polari and could definitely consider coming back and Im sure when we come home and watch our vacation videos we will feel much warmth in our hearts. Croatia is beautiful and, sure there is room for improvement, but I believe in this country and its people! Hvala!

advantage: 1. The location of the hotel is very good. The old town of Rovinj can be seen from most places on the island, and the angle is excellent; 2. The breakfast at the hotel is great and the variety is abundant; 3. The service is quite satisfactory. Disadvantages: The rooms are very shabby and the facilities are old.
