I booked a 3 bedroom apartment. We had 5 in our group. Communication from the staff was excellent. Our train arrived after the office closed. We were given very specific instructions on how to access our unit. Our first impression of our garden view unit was “wow!”. It was spacious, comfortable and clean. Each bedroom had 2 full sized beds (maybe queen sized). The master bedroom had a king size bed. There were 2 bathrooms. The master bedroom had one bathroom and the other bathroom was shared by the 2 other bedrooms. The toilet was in a separate room from the shower. The kitchenette was well equipped with utensils, plates, glasses, a microwave, coffee maker, toaster, frig, dishwasher and stovetop. There was a combo laundry washer/dryer in the bathroom. I brought my own detergent but there were detergent pods provided. Many small convenience stores nearby, Starbucks is about 3-4 blocks away, Nishiki market and the shopping area are a few blocks away as well. The office staff was friendly and helpful.

During our three weeks of travel in Japan, Nest at Nishiki was the nicest hotel we stayed in. It's the type of place where you immediately feel at home, tucked away on a quiet side street within walking distance of restaurants, bars and shops as well as subway and bus lines for when you venture out. Facilities are first rate with everything you need to feel right at home: very comfortable beds in a clean and quiet room with en-suite bathroom and good quality toiletries. Our 'superior' room had a kitchenette with microwave, fridge, kettle and Nespresso coffee machine and comfortable sitting area with small sofa, desk, chair and even a free to use smartphone. For laundry, there was a mini ironing board in the room as well as washing machine and tumble dryer self-service with free to use detergent. The kindness and warmth of the hotel staff was second to none and they did everything they could to make our stay in Kyoto a pleasant one. Our new friend Sachiko :) gave us some great museum tips and advice for day trips. When we return to Kyoto, Nest at Nishiki is where we will stay.

The staff at this Ryokan were all very kind, smiley and respectful. We booked 2 rooms of 2 pax each but since only 3 of us made the trip (covid 19 fear), we requested to have our dinner and breakfast to all be served in 1 room. Understanding that it could be too tight (check out our meal!), they arranged for us to have our meal in another room instead! We declined as we didn’t mind so you can see how packed our table is. Although a kaiseki meal is served by stages, we had ours all fully served up but we didn’t mind. They kept greeting us when coming through to set our table and they were just so courteous. The meal was great and filling. After dinner, they came to serve us dessert and cleared up before setting our beds. The room came with a heater so it was enjoyable to be able to appreciate the zen garden in the comfort of the room. I’m not sure if it is because each room came with it’s private tub or Low occupancy but when we went down to the public bath, there was only 1 lady leaving and so we had the entire place to ourselves! How perfect. We had the Japanese bfast and they were so kind to call before sending the food so that gave us ample time to prepare for their arrival. Even until the time we left, they actually held up a banner to bid us goodbye. Very sweet and thoughtful. I highly recommend this Ryokan.

My family of 4 adults stayed in a family room for two nights. We were snug, but we managed not to step on one another too much. Having the table layout during the day and the futons set out at night makes you feel that we are normally very wasteful with space at home. We all found the futons to be very comfortable, probably more so than regular hotel beds. The staff at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. We did not purchase breakfast at the hotel but opted instead for the free breakfast provided, which was rather sufficient. The Japanese breakfast for purchase did look good, however, so if you are not planning on trying it elsewhere, then here is as good a place as any. While the inside of the inn seems rather modern, it is the tatami mats in the room that make the experience completely different from the usual hotel stay.

Staff are extremely friendly, me and my friend stayed in a 6 bed female room. The beds are comfortable - if you’re on a bottom bunk, the beds are really big too. Staff were helpful, had excellent English and really polite. The rooms include a “handy” phone which has unlimited data for you to use for free during your stay. Lockers are only big enough to store your valuables in but the rooms have bike locks for you to lock your luggage’s. The showers are really clean and include hairdryers for you to use. Washing machines are ¥300 to use and ¥100 for 30mins in the dryer. The only thing is, the rooms have loud clunky code locks on them which are quite loud whenever people go in and out so remember your earplugs.

It felt like a SCAM. I advise you not to stay there. The welcoming was very enthusiastic. We arrived late at night after a long train ride from Tokyo and also still tired because of the jetlag. It was our first stay when arriving in Japan for 2,5 weeks. I am very sorry to say that the next morning I realised that the place was actually not a nice one. And time passing, it actually felt like a SCAM. Now that I go back through the trip advisor reviews, I see that the good reviews are from 2014… - I was expecting a high standard taken into account the price: 129 000 JPY for 3 nights. I do not mind paying so much as far as the location and the price are worth it. Here the high price is due to (1) overpriced anyway and (2) calculated not per room but per person and we were 3 - The house lacks maintenance. Very old. The painting really needs to be refreshed – so old that it actually looks dirty. And this for everything: walls, bathroom, wardrobes etc. - No Japanese inner garden where to relax - The onsen (bath) is only open from 4 pm till 7 pm. Strange as I discover later that actually guest used to go the the Bath in the morning and shower there instead of in their private bathroom - Mostly we came at 10 pm back from evening dinner. The owner never gave a remark as such but always told us he was glad we are back so he can go to sleep as he wakes up early in the morning. And asking if the next day we would take half – pension at the Ryokan. From all the information gathered, Kyoto seemed to be the city where you should stay in a Ryokan. We were really looking forward staying at the Sanga Ryokan, run by a Japanese family and very well located in Kyoto. It was our first night when arriving in Japan for 2,5 weeks. We told the owner it when checking out that it was quite expensive for what we got. He laughed and told us this is normal, this is Japan. While travelling around I can definitely tell you that the Ryokan Sanga does not meet the price / quality level of Japan. It’s just so much overprized, a real tourist trap. And tourist traps are totally NOT common in Japan, on the contrary. Not only disappointed, I really feel like I have been cheated. And during the rest of the trip I was checking everything suspiciously.

The location is very good, the surrounding area is bustling, and it is convenient to go anywhere. One day it rained, and the shoes returned to the hotel were wet. The uncle of the hotel helped to warm the shoes, and also dried the raincoat and umbrella. It was packed with plastic film for our storage. Hotel facilities are relatively old, hot spring is an indoor large bath, few people. Japanese-style tatami is very comfortable, there is customer service to make beds every night, send cold tea on cold days, send herbal tea on hot days, great service! Worth to experience!

The family has been to Kyoto before and recommend it to us. General accommodation bookings are not recommended, mainly Japanese. Room facilities are old, the socket does not support domestic chargers, it will electrophoresis, and finally we had to go to a convenience store to buy a Japanese Apple charging head and cable. Although the room has a shower room, but it does not supply hot water, I have to go to the large bathhouse. I go alone at more than 9pm every night, so I am scared. It is more like a homestay. Although there is room service, the waiter will lay a mattress every night and collect it in the morning. Then he will send breakfast to the room (to order with meals). If there are requirements for accommodation, it is recommended not to live anymore.

The spirit of the ultimate service is played in the traditional Japanese life, and it is amazing. 1. In order to avoid the impact on the bed, the mirror is designed to be open and closed, and the wipe is spotless and bright as new. 2. Specially equipped with lacquer boxed popular magazines and common wires for guests 3. The interface desk is well lit, and even if there is direct drinking water, a sufficient amount of bottled water and water heaters are prepared for the foreign guests according to the number of guests. 4. The porch has prepared slippers and yukata for guests to take a bath downstairs and be as free at home. 5. The independent bath room is not only separated from wet and dry, so guests can take a bath after bathing. The bathtub is much deeper than the domestic one. It has two modes: bright and warm. 6. There is a small light window on the bathroom door. If it is lit, it means someone 7. Washlet's buttons are directly on the wall, not only the quality guarantee is more convenient to use, no need to look down the button. In addition, enough toilet paper and odorless freshener were prepared. 8. There is a small basket on the table to place small objects for the guests. 9. Although the bed has been laid. There are also a wide variety of pillow quilts for guests to use. There are also discounted welcome paper cranes, the second day handwritten weather forecast and various cartoon instructions.

Kyoto Station
Love this hotel! One of the best I’ve ever been. They’ve recently open in 2019 and it’s not very crowded here as there are a few hotels beside and The Thousand is just right connected to the Kyoto Century Hotel so if you are taking taxi, you would like to mention Kyoto Century Hotel and they will alight you right in front of The Thousand. It’s not only new, the amenities are so high tech even the toilet bowl cover automatically open up when detected. Undoubtedly, this hotel has a very nice, warm and homely feel. When you step right in, the woody lemongrass fragrance will make you feel so welcome! Most importantly, the hotel staff converse very well in English and are extremely kind and helpful and patient. It definitely deserves a 5-star rating! Everything is so perfect here that I wish I could have stayed longer in Kyoto!

This hotel is about a 20-minute walk from Yasaka Shrine and Kiyomizu Temple. There are direct buses to Kinkakuji and Lanshan. 10 minutes walk to Nijo Castle. Kyoto Station is only about four stops from the hotel. All in all the location of this hotel is good. Room for two people was just right. The air conditioning and bath water were very powerful. The shower gel and shampoo are both POLA. So you do n’t need to bring any toiletries here. The room has a washing machine to dry and a microwave. Free coffee in the hotel lobby. Overall this hotel is very good.

As for this hotel, I really have to praise it. I ca n’t speak English, I do n’t know Japanese. I went with my baby. The location of the hotel is especially convenient. It ’s close to the bus station. Follow Google. The route he recommends is not necessarily the most convenient. You can choose, it is closer to the hotel bus. I can remember the road once. After getting off the plane, I do n’t remember what tickets I bought at the airport, but I just entered from the ticket office, opposite, b. You can go to the front door of Uniqlo on the back of bus 104. There is a trail opposite Uniqlo. It is especially easy to find when you go in. The hotel service is really great. The first day check-in is a Chinese-speaking beauty. There is also a handsome guy who also speaks Chinese. The room I stayed in Osaka is not as good as this hotel. It is highly recommended, geographical advantage, and the room is clean. In Japan, this room is quite large, 29 inches, 22 inches luggage can I opened the two at the same time, I put the two beds together, and the side was very spacious. I came to Kyoto in the future and chose this one. It was a super happy trip

Last weekend, my wife and I stayed in this Hotel Gracey Kyoto Sanjo for the third time since January 2019, with satisfaction. The service was consistantly of high quality, other than the convenient location and moderate pricing. However, I would like to reflect one minor comment to the hotel management, because the bed sheets were a bit rough this round, compared to the previous visits. Cheers:-) Wellington FUNG

5 minutes to Nineizaka, 5 minutes to Hanami Shoji, but really quiet and true Gion. The hotel is also a pure Japanese style building with Scandinavian style rooms. It looks small, but it has elaborate storage and very convenient furniture. Even if it looks like nothing, various things are hidden. Please stop hiding the TV remote control (laughs) It was a very comfortable hotel. For breakfast, you can enjoy the long-established tempura garden, which is really delicious! The delicious breakfast at the hotel is comparable to that of Sofitel, Luxor, Egypt. However, juice and coffee are terrible, so I wonder if it is better not to serve them. I thought it was a good hotel, thank you.

Hotel is conveniently located. Right opposite the train station and next door to Kyoto tower and Big electrical store Yodobashi. Rooms however a bit outdated. Their housekeeping service were great! If we visit Kyoto again, likely we will use this hotel again for its reasonable pricing.
