10.5km from Makoto KindergartenThe minute you arrive at this isolated Ryokan style resort overlooking Matsushima Bay you can’t help feeling relaxed! The stunning spacious timber indoor architecture and a requirement to only wear the slippers and ‘pyjamas’ provided to you, creates a relaxed anonymity. We had to request size L large as we are 2 big Aussies.. There are two divine indoor/outdoor ‘hot spring spas’ that are really a ‘must do’ experience. We enjoyed the live music in the lobby at night, and the Glass Museum too. I found some lovely Japanese crafted gifts at a reasonable price in the resort shop. The meals offered a sensational example of fresh high quality local produce, seafood and meat. If you can’t manage to sleep on the comfortable mattresses on the tatami matting floor, there are a few western style beds available. All rooms have western style ensuites and stunning views over Matsushima Bay. Take a cruise on the local ferry or just relax in the spacious gardens.
