My son and i needed a place to stay in the Gold Coast for a few weeks. The Front Desk staff made us feel like home. They were welcoming and accommodating. The location is terrific--close to Lincoln Park, the Lakefront and an easy 1.5 mile walk to downtown. The room is on the small side, even more so the bathroom, but still fine for the value. COVID-19 safety measures were well-observed. I would definitely return.

Recently spent two nights here on a college trip with my daughter. Chose this because i was looking for a place in a neighborhood outside the tourist areas, that was cheap, and relatively well reviewed. Pros: Regular neighborhood outside the tourist areas. Relatively new. Funky sports theme. Fairly inexpensive. Parking outside at not crazy price. My teenage daughter dug ther funky vibe and cafe in the lobby. Content teenager is kinda cool. Cons: Small rooms. This is true of any place in Chicago. We had bunk full beds -- it was fine for two, but would've been crowded fsoor three or more. Housekeeping was odd. When we got in our room their were fitted sheets on the bed but the flat sheets were just folded and left at end of bed. So we had to make the beds. Second night they took away the flat sheets and put on 2nd fitted sheets. Had to call for new flat sheets and make the beds again. The housekeeping thing fits with the general "upscale youth hostel for families" vibe. If you want skyline views, this isn't your place. It's two stories bordered by an alley on one side and the El on the other. Our room faced the alley...we could hear the El but it wasn't a problem. I'd consider staying here again if I was coming back with my teens who would line the non-traditional vibe. It's clean, new and a good option outside the typical high-rise tourist haunts with overpriced parking.

My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights and everything was perfect. We've asked for an upper floor an so they gave us a great room with city view on the top floor. When we arrived at about 5pm, the room was not ready yet but in just a few minute they gave it to us. The hotel is close to the "L" to the town center and from O'Hare airport. Really a great experience, for sure I'll come back. Just a couple of really minor issue. There's no TV in the room and the "reception" is inside the spa and is open at the store opening times. Once you know that, it's all right, you know what to expect.

I went on a cross country tour over this past month and I have to say that Mishan Mack literally made me cry tears of joy due to her hospitality. My father was recently hospitalized and she saw me having a tough time and I explained to her my situation and she asked for my father’s name so she could pray for him. Happy to say he’s out and doing great! The hotel is great too, and I will happily stay there again (but only if she’s working!). Great place, greatest town, and awesome time. Thank you, Mishan! You were the best part of my 28 day trip!!!

This hotel is a fine property - but it is NOT set up for people who have cars and intend to valet them. There is no provision for anywhere to stop and go in and check in, no signs indicating that if you are going to valet that you need to drive to another street, and no valet attendants on station when you get there. I have no idea how the management of this hotel has process mapped the customer experience when using the valet is concerned. We got to the hotel location at about 8:00 p.m. and there are obviously not going to be any spots as far as street parking anywhere near the hotel to even be able to walk in. So, having gone around the block twice, I finally decided to pull in to where there was a sign for a valet for another Marriott property (Residence Inn). There are no signs there saying what you should do, nowhere for a car to be parked to wait, and no valet attendants there. Finding my way into the hotel I told the person at the desk that I had a car to valet and she absolutely jumped into the situation, went outside, and coordinated with the valet and ultimately got things under control. However - while this was going on there were people coming up to my wife who was in the car and telling her that if she didn't move it from the alley behind the hotel that they were going to tow the car. As a customer, it appeared to me that that had been not a single thought given to "So, when a guest comes in with a car to valet - what do we expect them to do?" Leaving was a very similar unpleasant experience. I called down at 12:40 to have my car brought around and was told it would be 20-30 minutes. We went down to the lobby a few minutes after one, and were told where the valet staff would come in when the car was there. 20 minutes later (40 minutes after we called down) a valet attendant came in looking for another car that I could hear the front desk staff had taken a call for while we were waiting downstairs and when I asked the valet attendant about mine, he said "Oh, I'll take care of it." So it appeared that my call had never been relayed to the valet staff. At 1:30 (50 minutes after I called down for it) I had my car. The hotel is nice enough, and I'll be the first to admit that as a guy in his 50s with a car, I'm probably not their target demo. I get that it's located in as urban an area as you'll find, and that parking is really, really tough. So just communicate to me that "You know, this might not be the best fit for you if you're bringing your car." That way if I decided to still do so, I'm the one making that call. But either way - if you are going to offer valet parking at your location, it seems to me that you have to put some thought into how your guests are actually going to - you know - USE it. That's the only complaint I have - but it provided a lousy experience both checking in and checking out, and thus taints the entire stay there. If I ever were to return, I would only do so if I didn't have a ca

My friends and I were in Chicago for a weekend to hear some jazz at The Green Mill. Great club just a few blocks away from The Guesthouse. Our suite was a full 3-bedroom apartment, with well equipped kitchen (gas stove & oven, fridge, dishwasher, dishes, utensils), gas fireplace, balcony w/ bbq, laundry, 2 bathrooms. Couldn't ask for more. The staff were friendly and helpful. Everything was in top condition and very clean. This would be a great place for a long stay. Doesn't feel like a hotel, it feels like a home. It was about a 20-minute uber drive downtown to see the sites. There is a nice neighbourhood with a real "village" feel just a few blocks away with lots of pubs, restaurants, grocery stores etc. Everything you need.

I can't even say enough about how great the Moxy in Chicago was! We arrived way before our check-in time because we had an early flight. Since our room was not quite ready yet, they held our bags for us while we walked around the corner to get a bite to eat. They had our room ready for us at noon which I believe was 4 hours before our actual check-in time. The atmosphere was fun and casual, which was right up our alley. There are games scattered around on the tables which I thought was fun and there is a 24 hour taco joint attached to the hotel as well. I think I tried almost all of the taco choices and they were great! Kylie at the front desk is so sweet and helpful and so was Ellen, the assistant manager. The bartenders were super fun and always willing to give a suggestion on things to do. When we travel, we typically like to see what the locals enjoy doing and every suggestion they gave us was spot on!! I really wish I could remember all of the bartenders that helped us, but I remember Brandon and JJ right off the top of my head. We will definitely be back to the Moxy next time we visit Chicago!

I was recently staying here for a wedding. The rooms were clean, the beds were comfy. It was perfect for what we needed it for and we all slept very comfortably. Best of all, I had family things come up and needed to leave a day early, I did have advanced notice but Expedia fooled me into thinking I could get the last day taken off, but they never processed my request. I know that sounds bad, but the owner stood up for me and refused to charge me for the last night since I was checking out early n before 11am. He was so helpful, and knew that if he didn’t charge me for the night, they couldn’t force me to pay. Thank you so much Heart O’ Chicago and Jawed Imtiaz. You saved me almost $100. As a Chicago local, I’ve recently set off on a journey, with COVID in mind, to explore this beautiful city and find the true gems. In that journey, and thanks to the recommendation of a friend, I stumbled upon The Robey. Let me tell you, after this horribly stressful week of mine– The Robey was like a breath of fresh air. From the two phone calls I had with the hotel, with Sydney and Michael, the customer service was astounding. They were knowledgable, eager to fulfill my requests, and incredibly kind. Starting on the ground floor, there’s the Robey Cafe which is adjacent to the lobby and incredibly beautiful. The front desk staff, Celia, specifically, were super sweet and efficient and made sure I understood and could take advantage of every amenity my room rate included. Contrary to other reviews, I thoroughly enjoyed the customer service I received. On the second floor, there is a gorgeous mid-century modern workspace with tons of space to set up shop and hang out, while masked-up and socially distant, of course. I stayed on the 8th floor, in one of the King suites with a tub. The room itself was one of the nicer rooms I’ve ever stayed in. Truly incredible. And the view? was STUNNING. Watching the sunset with a glass of champagne was truly the pinnacle of my stay. In the bathroom, which was absolutely beautiful, they included a bathtub tray so that I could watch read a book while taking a bubble bath! While I personally did not check out the rooftop or the lounge, I am sure they were just as incredible. In short, I had an incredibly relaxing night and will be returning with more business, both for myself and my family/friends. The Robey is officially the go-to hotel.

Wow, after staying at other HGV this one is DISAPPOINTING! First off, the desk staff really have no idea what HGV is, cannot answer questions about it and if you ask, they say, "that is a separate thing." This is a hotel, and that is it. No pool, No hot tub, No room service, No breakfast. No coffee mugs in room, tiny little packet of coffee, and only enough for two cups. They don't clean or restock room regularly and when asked, you have to twist an arm to get it. The faucet fixture in the bathroom was loose, like turns every time you wash hands. The shower never really got hot, and the pressure is terrible so good luck getting the cold out after walking around Chicago for days. One comforter on the bed but to cuddle up with another blanket, the one in the closet is this almost plasticky- holes worn in it weird blanket. This place is bad.... Motel 6 may top them!

My husband and I both have held positions within the hospitalilty industry, him being an executive with Hilton at one point and I’m so surprised at the lack of customer service training!! We traveled 12 hours by car to visit family in Chicago, I called the hotel before midnight just to remind them of the notes on my account that we would arrive around 2am. The young lady who answered didn’t seem to care. She said “ok” as If to say well why are you telling me. We arrive at the hotel around 2am and unfortunately the ability to check in from my phone wasn’t available since it was after midnight. The front door is only Accessible with a rook key which we didn’t have because we are here to check in. We spent 15 mins outside knocking on the door and calling the hotel to locate a front desk agent! Eventually I saw a gentleman appear and we knocked on the lobby window and he let us in. While my husband unpacked the truck I wanted to get us checked in especially because we have a cranky restless 2 year old. I asked the gentleman could he check us in and he informed me that it wasn’t him that does check ins and the front Desk agent ran upstairs real quick. I said ok and expected someone to be down soon. My husband unpacked the truck and still no one to check us in. The guy kept calling someone on a walkie talkie and stated he didn’t know where she was. My husband asked if she was upstairs sleep or something and he said he didn’t know. After 25 mins the young lady name Kayla came from a side door with no hello, no I apologize for the wait or anything! With an attitude she said “you got a reservation?” Ummmmm yes!!! Because why else would I be standing here at 2am! I handed her my ID and credit card and I could barely hear anything she was saying through her mask and the plexiglass. She handed me keys and walked away. This was the start of poor customer service for three days! The next morning my husband went down to grab my daughter and I some juice and the front desk agent didn’t even speak and say good morning. When he walked past the desk again he said loudly “good morning!” Which forced her to speak. When I worked at Hilton the standard was to greet all guest! They could care less about us and it showed with us and other guest as we observed. There was one gentleman who I wish I grabbed his name, he spoke every time and even asked about our daughter. On night two an employee was standing outside and saw my husband had a lot Of bags and I’m carrying the baby looking for The room key in my purse. He said “y’all got a room?” We said yes and he acted like he was going to help open the door but then didn’t. As a corporate sales and customer services trainer myself, I was very disappointed and wish we booked at another hotel. My husband said something to the front desk agent upon check out regarding our experience and told her you never know who is staying in the hotel and you all treat guest poorly but never did she say thank you for staying with us, have a

The hotel is Fairly new and the rooms are clean and modern. Lots of places to plug things in. It is connected to the convention hall by an enclosed heated overhead bridge. It takes less than five minutes to walk directly into the West Hall. There are now dining options in McCormick place area. IL Cuiaccino is a good Italian option less than a block away. Pizano Pizza is next-door to that. Excellent deep dish and thin crust options. Fat pour is next to hotel and serves up very good pub food. There are other options as well. If you don’t want to spend 20 bucks at the hotel for breakfast there are options. The Subway Restaurant across the street is open for breakfast. My favorite was the McCormick market. A little bodega a block to the left of hotel. It’s a General store that has beer, wine and liquor. Go to the back and there’s a small grill. They serve a made to order oversize breakfast sandwiches They are served up on your choice of bagel; English muffin or croissant. They have good coffee too. The sandwiches will set you back only five bucks and they are huge. Go left out the door of hotel and walk to the light. Cross the street and it’s on your right. All in all a decent hotel although you can tell as evident by the popcorn ceilings in the rooms that the hotel was older also the mirrored closet door was a bit on. We were fortunate enough to get what we requested which was a corner room on a high floor we were the 23rd floor which the hotel is 24. The hotel does feature a pool and fitness center on the 10th floor and a business center on the lower level I did not visit the Business center so I don’t know what to say as far as how good it might be. First the good. The corner room had a beautiful view and lots of windows as you can see in the third picture below so it was a beautiful view at night and big screen TV which I think should be the norm but amazingly enough many hotels still have like 32 inch TVs. The TV also has one thing which allows you to plug in a fire stick or Apple TV and you don’t have to go through any kind of weird configuration to get it to work you’ll just need to connect to the Internet. The room was very roomy bed was very comfortable lots of light the heater/AC works good. You can tell that the hotel was renovated. There were plenty of USB ports on the side of the bed where the TV is you have for plug-ins and three USB ports on the other side of the bed you have two plug-ins in two USB ports then there are plug-ins elsewhere around the room but I didn’t see any other USB ports. The refrigerator is hidden as part of the desk it seem to keep things cool but not cold. Bad: it doesn’t have a walk-in shower it’s a bathtub shower combo narrow bathtub but that did have a big rainforest showerhead. The hotel has been renovated at some point as you can see from the pictures of the lobby it’s very nice modern but it was like they took the cheap way out because they left the popcorn ceilings and the bathtub shower combo and mirrored closet doors. There was also where they added crown molding around the top of the room there was about a quarter 2 1/2 inch gap between the ceiling and the crown molding in certain places which made no sense. Be prepared to pay $59 a night to park at the attached garage or your spot hero and there are several parking garage is an open parking lot within a block or two blocks walking distance I actually parked in a parking lot for $15 overnight versus the 59 the hotel wanted to charge. Keep in mind the hotel does offer at their own parking garage in and out privileges for that $59. Also if you spot hero a lot yourself more time than you think you’re going to need because I missed my time by less than 10 minutes of my time I was supposed to be out of the parking lot and it took an act of God almost to get me out without pain for an entire day. So in the end good hotel it’s a great location you’re just a couple blocks off of Michigan Avenue there’s plenty of little shops around there there are blue 24 hour eateries there’s a Taco Bell or Subway Dunkin’ Donuts Baskin-Robbins a few other fast food there’s also a Trader Joe’s nearby a Whole Foods about t

Loved the shower! We visited the restaurant, used the shuttle and used room service. This team was a delight and every single encounter was just a pleasure. Thanks for making our otherwise stressful time so much better. We shall be back soon and will stay here when we do.

This is a small nicely renovated establishment that provided us with a comfortable bed, a large clean bathroom, TV, WiFi, and a quiet room at a very reasonable price,.but without some of the usual frills (hair drier, closet, iron, water glasses, phone, etc.). The rooms are on the second floor of the building, reached by a flight of 20 steps (no elevator). Breakfast consisted of a nice selection of foods, including eggs, which the guests assemble for themselves (except for coffee, which was already made). There was no plastic. Guests put dirty silverware and dishes into the dishwasher of the well-equipped kitchen. Instead of key cards, the doors operate with keypads, making the room key one thing less to keep track of. The neighborhood appears to be entirely residential and very quiet at night. We parked our car on the street in front of the building and took the Red Line, about 6 blocks away, downtown. There are also two bus lines a bit closer. We find this trend towards simplicity very congenial, although it might not be for everyone. We would consider staying at the 5863 again on a future trip to Chicago.

This B&B was perfect for our intimate wedding! We rented out the entire house for our family to stay at for the weekend and they LOVED IT! The location is perfect (about 7 minute walk to Damen blue line stop) and within walking distance of the wicker park businesses/bars. Also, breakfast served each morning was great and they even prepared gluten free food for one of our guests. Laura (owner) is such a great owner and went above and beyond to make sure our wedding weekend went smoothly. Be sure to stay here if you’re looking for a Chicago neighborhood vibe!!

We stayed at the Kinzie hotel from March 2 through March 7. Martin, the hotel manager, went out of his way to accommodate us with our requested room. Service was outstanding from every employee; doorman, housekeeping, front desk, bartender, and even the maintenance person. Location couldn’t be better. I loved the layout of the room with a long desk bar in the bedroom and a full countertop in the bathroom (no lousy non-functional decorative pedestal sinks in this hotel). An empty refrigerator was available in the room, perfect for in room beverages. We’ve stayed here multiple times and look forward to returning.

Went to the Ace for a local night away and the Ace thoroughly impressed me. Since the pandemic I’ve been to a handful of properties to get away locally. I’ve never stayed at the Ace before but have been there for a wedding when they first opened and another art/music event, some time ago, pre covid. As far as how they’re operating, I haven’t had this experience at any other property. They give you sanitizing wipe packets upon check in for the room. As we approached the room, there was a sticker seal on the door - indicating that the room was cleaned and hadn’t been opened since then. On their site, they share they are keeping rooms empty for 24 hours after cleaning for precaution. These things were a nice touch and I appreciate that as a guest in a covid world. The room was nice and not particularly small even though it was a “small” room. Large shower and toilet with the sink separate from the enclosed bathroom. Comfortable headboard which I want to find for myself. Room was clean and the record player with records is an awesome touch. I liked that there were shelves for my beauty products/hairbrush in the sink area as opposed to having to leave it on the sink top. Hangers and extra hooks, but no drawers in the room, which I would’ve liked, but wasn’t a big deal. There’s a hot water kettle in the room but no glasses or cups, which was a mild bummer but sharing so you can note and request at the front desk, which I imagine could provide. Reservation came with breakfast which was grab&go from the front desk and pretty impressive. Likely due to City Mouse(Lula) running their food service. Options that morning were smoked salmon, yogurt parfait, or overnight oats. We got the smoked salmon and parfait with coffees to go back to the room which tasted like a decent medium/light roast. The smoked salmon came with crisp bread, creme fraiche, hard boiled egg, red onions. The salmon was beautiful and easily one of the best quality lox I’ve had in this city. Yogurt parfait came with Greek yogurt, fruit cup(berries and plums), Honeycrisp apple, and a house made granola bar that was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at the Ace. Between the location and experience, I’d come back to stay for sure even though I live 10 minutes away.

We have to admit when we first pulled up we were a little surprised as it looked a little older on the outside than what we were expecting. However, we were immediately greeted and helped at the front desk by the most friendly and helpful man. Gave us dinner suggestions and explained perfectly how the process of breakfast, shuttle, leaving our vehicle worked. Our room was somewhat the same- looked old (especially the bathroom) but it was SO CLEAN! The breakfast options were good and the shuttle was right on time. All personnel we dealt with were so friendly and helpful! When we returned home our vehicle was running and warmed up for us with water bottles and a small treat waiting in the front cupholders. We were extremely impressed and would use this hotel for a park and fly again any time we go out of Midway! Oh and if you like doing more of your own food vs eating out there was a mini fridge and a microwave in the room along with a small table/eating area.

A 3 week stay and zero complaints! My husband and I kept having to extend our stay and everyone was very accommodating. Grace, the front desk manager, treated us like family and we started literally referring to the hotel at the end of our day as "let's go home!" Grace worked magic again and again to meet our every need. The rest of the front desk staff is also very helpful and welcoming. There is even a well trained adorable little dog named Pita that greets guests. Our stay was the end of September into October and the lobby restaurant was closed but we could still enjoy relaxing there with an unobstructed view of Wrigley. Anthony at West End bakery on the street level made us excellent coffee (complementary) every morning and he is personable and efficient! The valet Tuisant is super helpful and friendly and looks great in his vintage converse low tops. The hotel is very clean and we felt the proper health precautions were taken to keep guests and staff healthy. The beds are very comfortable and our room was large and attractively decorated in a low key baseball theme. Fantastic floor to ceiling windows offered an awesome view of Wrigley and Clark street was still bustling despite Covid. All the non hotel restaurants were open and offer outdoor heated seating.
