Arequipa
|1.3km from city centerAs part of a group of seven who stayed at this hotel during the current lockdown for covid-19, my wife and I were impressed every day with the care of the staff. They faced the challenge of getting to work without public transportation and returning home before the evening curfew. Without fail they were on duty, cheerful and accomodating, keeping the facility clean and functioning well. Because all restaurants were closed, the kitchen staff prepared dinner for us, as well as the excellent buffet breakfasts. Access to the conference room facilities and the roof-top terrace contributed to good days, in spite of the lockdown.

Arequipa
|1.87km from city centerNice decor and styling in the rooms, large and comfortable bed (we had a private room just a bit back from the pool area). The inclusion of a fridge was a plus point. The cleaning staff were helpful and courteous. When we checked in, the guys working reception helped us up to the room with our luggage (I had been volunteering in Arequipa for 2 months prior so had a few bags). However, when I asked on our way out if they had anyone available to help take our luggage to the taxi, it was a hard “no ofrecemos ese servicio” 😕 So I guess it depends who’s working that day as to what level of service you get. The bar area around the pool was nice with lots of seating options to chill out, but the water in the pool was absolutely freezing and even cold water swimmers wouldn’t be in there much more than 10 minutes! I removed quite a lot of bugs during my swim, so a regular clean with a net wouldn’t go amiss. The worst aspect of this place was the obnoxiously loud and unrelenting music. I couldn’t even get peace and quiet in our private bathroom. I get that the poolside party is their vibe, but I really don’t think they need quite so many hours of it in their schedule. With retrospect, I’d have chosen a quieter hotel. Finally, we booked a massage. I thought it would be a nice way to round off our trip, the price was equivalent to about £30 GBP which I thought was a good deal. I’d had an excellent massage at Selina in Baños, Ecuador, so I was looking forward to it. Well, both my massage (hot stones) and the one my boyfriend had (regular massage) were so comically bad that we still joke about it 6 months later. I asked the masseuse in fluent Spanish 5 times and in a variety of different ways to really use a bit more pressure, but no…. the two of us spent an hour each being half-heartedly rubbed with oil by someone who clearly had received very little training and was unable to locate any knots, any areas of tension, anything. I actually left more tense than I went in! I did tell the reception so I sincerely hope they have recruited a new massage therapist. Overall, there are some benefits to Selina such as the relative proximity to the city centre whilst also having a pool. However, I wouldn’t rush back and didn’t find it quite as good as the other Selinas I’ve stayed in in Central and South America.

|1.82km from city centerIt is not the first time being in this hotel and service was always avarage to good. The restaurant staff is very helpful, but in reception it is mainly poor. Qualifying my last stay, there was a request to change rooms which was denied without any effort of the front desk staff to make a change, as asking friendly, being unfriendly we were attended. Regarding the dinner, there was a very loud party in the dining room - non consuming - during our diner and we just asked to be a little less loudly. Later I received a complaint of this hotel staff via my company because of our unfriendlyness and also non flexibility at a dinner. Receiving tips, saying thank you and afterwards complaining? It is not very profesional.

|1.33km from city centerWe would definitely recommend this hotel. We stayed for four nights and everything from the service to the room was 5 star plus. (Bed, WIFI, Hot water, fridge, complimentary breakfast, view, fluffy towels etc) We stayed in the King room with the balcony overlooking the city, you can see the church clocks from the Arequipa Cathedral and we were a few steps from Plaza de Armas. Lots of great restaurants near by and the area is completely safe for walking in the evening. (perfect location) A shout out to the staff of Ariquepay Hotel - Graciela, Jonathan, Nickel and Jose. They take great pride in their jobs and took good care of us! Great value for the nightly rate. Would definitely stay here again. We highly recommend the hotel!

Arequipa
|1.14km from city centerFamily of four (50, 49, 16 and 14 YO) stayed 12/29/23 - 1/4/24 The location is perfect! Directly on Plaza de Armas, adjacent to the cathedral, the hotel has a view of the plaza from the fifth-floor balcony and the second-floor restaurant. We had one room on the fifth floor and one on the third. The rooms were nice, comfortable, and very clean. We looked at the Casa Andina Premium - the building certainly looked nicer but the location is not nearly as good. The location was too good to pass up. Food at the hotel's restaurant (LaPlaza) was great. Excellent breakfast which was included with the stay, and we ate dinner there twice. So nice eating outside on the patio with a view of the Plaza. I would have given it five stars except for two negative experiences: One - we arranged a shuttle from the airport with the hotel (Ashley Guzman contact), in advance that never showed up. I confirmed with the hotel the day before our travel. It turned out to be relatively easy to order an Uber while at the airport, but by that time we had already waited 45min. When traveling on family trips to new cities I like to order a shuttle ahead of time. I don't feel like waiting and/or negotiating with taxi services with a big family after a long flight, and Uber tends to be spotty in smaller foreign cities. I tried calling and emailing the hotel while waiting for the ride but couldn't get through and they didn't respond to emails. For some reason Uber drivers in Arequipa cancel trips often, i had three cancel at the airport before one finally accepted. Two - I made dinner reservations through the hotel at Alma (Casa Andina Premium restaurant) for New Years Eve two weeks in advance. I confirmed multiple times (Paolo Rodriguez contact), including the day we checked in, 12/29, as I was concerned about not having reservations for New Year's eve. When the time came we got dressed up, walked over to Casa Andina Premium and of course, they had no record of our reservation and couldn't accommodate us. It was quite frustrating since it was New Year's and we had no backup plan. However, putting the experiences into the context of our broader experience in Arequipa it is not surprising. Arequipa is not as tourist-friendly as Lima, which is what attracted us to it in the first place, and reservations just don't seem to be common in the city.

|1.16km from city centerThis truly is a beautiful Hotel it really echoes the character of the white City. The friendly professional attitude greats you from the moment you step in the door. The rooms are lovely, the breakfast is cooked fresh every morning to match your requirements. The team clearly enjoy working together and have done so for many years. I want to give a special mention to Fabricio and Yilmol who booked us a room to relax in prior to our late transport for our onward journey. Many thanks team I will definitely pass your details on to other UK travelers.

|0.6km from city centerWe had such a great time staying at Queen’s villa. A hidden oasis amongst the city. Hotel was very clean, beds were SO comfortable. The pool was so relaxing, service was incredible and breakfast was delicious! My husband lost his phone on an outing while staying here and as we are not proficient Spanish speakers, the staff was so very helpful in helping us track it down and getting it returned to us. Would 100% stay here again..

Arequipa
|1.51km from city centerThis hotel is in an excellent location on a quiet street in Arequipa, a close walk to major attractions. The tented 'lobby' and public spaces are beautiful, with gorgeous antiques, wall adornments, metal sculptures and a lovely ambiance. The rooms are clean and comfortable, but very standard, with nothing that would remotely qualify for a five star rating by Peru standards. The staff are helpful, and friendly, although efficiency is sometimes an issue. During our stay the fumes from new paint in our room (or at least we hope it was paint and not something else) were quite unbearable, but our short stay didn't warrant requesting a move - so we had to keep the window open at all times. Because repairs were being made to AC units on sections of the building, we would find a man on the roof right outside our window at select times, making for poor privacy. These were minor problems, and we found the stay mostly quite comfortable. The restaurant on site has very good food and breakfast is relatively extensive by Peru standards.

|1.46km from city centerthis hotel was wonderful and accommodating and clean. we arrived by overnight by bus and were very tired in the morning but the staff brought us breakfast (helped me discover how much I enjoy Altomayo instant coffee - yum!), which enjoyed from our balcony and watched the sunrise. Our only regret was not booking enough time here and in Arequipa - seriously considering returning just to explore the city more and absolutely would stay here again. I had to work the day we were here and the wifi was strong enough for my work most of the time. Very safe location and they stopped my partner when she entered and didn’t notify them who she was, which we understood and appreciated. We also checked out very early the following day and they were equally as accommodating and friendly as when we arrived. Very close to city center and lots of accessible walking to historical and cultural sites of interest.

|1.68km from city centerFantastic hotel close to the Plaza de Armas. Beautiful colonial house with a discreet addition in the back that houses the modern and well equipped rooms. Excellent service and delicious breakfast and beautiful public areas. Some rooms have the volcano views, other the church and city. Equally beautiful. Frankly I'm surprised Hilton didn't make this a Curio brand. It's probably the best Hampton I've seen anywhere. It even has a jacuzzi on the roof top and you can also the see Misti volcano from there. It's got all the amenities and comforts of an international chain but keeping to the traditional architecture and charm of Arequipa. Definitely worth staying here. In fact we stayed here twice!
