Really great location, very close to centre and the beach with great views from our room at the front of the B&B. There was also a large balcony area shared with other guests so if you wanted an evening to relax in the B&B you could quite happily. The owners and staff were mostly absent but very friendly and I imagine wouldn’t have been hard to track down if needed. There are steep-ish steps leading up to the B&B from the square which weren’t a problem for us, we thought they were charming. Continental Breakfast was great - cereal, ham, cheese, salami, croissants. Although bread was stale on day 2 and 3 so could have been a tad fresher. The room was again charming and air-con worked a treat but the bed unfortunately was very old, soft (not in a good way) and lumpy and gave us both back ache. The shower didn’t drain properly and nearly over flowed after just one use. Not the priciest place in Amalfi so cant complain too much but the bed definitely needs replacing and the shower needs unblocking. Just needs a bit of investment and updating and it will be perfect!

We enjoyed a night at DieciSedici. Carmen was very helpful and friendly. She was the best part of our experience there. The room was as advertised, very clean, and quite a nice renovation on the inside. Good bathroom and bed, so in that sense it is high end and quite nice. It isn't really like a grand hotel, but rather a collection of converted apartments on a corner of a piazza near the lungo mare. It was quiet, which is good. It is worth noting that there was not much of an internal part of the hotel, like lobby, or bar, or shared guest area. When selecting the hotel, we saw good reviews about the breakfast, and were disappointed to find that restaurant was temporarily closed due to a family emergency. Carmen Kindly refunded us the price difference, which was appreciated, so that we could go to another location and buy breakfast. In the morning to return the key, we what's apped Carmen, and left it with a young lady who was waiting out front to start her days work. She was very nice, but I wasn't all together comfortable with leaving a key with someone on the street. Carmen confirmed that this young lady was staff, so it wasn't a problem. The hotel was kind enough to watch over our bags for the day whilst we went boating, so that also was appreciated. All in all nice people and a clean comfortable room. Not much else as far as extra's or anything notable.

Excellent place. The room look better than on the pics. We were at our honeymoon and they just made so much better for us- the location is just perfect and so convenient. We have to give 5 stars to dear ANNA that was so nice and helpful. When we Arazi even Anna talked to us via emails and after that gave us her WhatsApp number. They did a valle parking to our car (only 20 € a day) and took our luggage to the room that was amazing welcoming! During all of our stay Anna made sure we are having good time and helped us find our way with the activities and was super helpful. So to summarize you must stay there !

We've visited Amalfi many times over the years but this was our first visit to the Antica Repubblica and we're sure it won't be our last. This wonderful hotel is charming and full of character. Other reviews have mentioned the helpfulness of the staff and rightly so. Like many others before us we had a very warm welcome and were made to feel that nothing is too much trouble. Our room (il Conte) was very spacious and comfortable. The bathroom could perhaps do with a bit of updating in a couple of corners but nothing to detract from the pleasure we felt on returning to our cool and beautifully cleaned room each afternoon. We loved the view from the terrace over Amalfi's main street (so much to watch!) but also appreciated how good the windows were at keeping the noise out at night - we slept very well in our large comfortable bed. The roof terrace was delightful - we loved having breakfast there in the mornings. Mostly standard fare for Italian hotel breakfasts but with the welcome addition of various hot savouries (including baby sausages on some mornings). I also enjoyed the varying baked items and I'm grateful that the hotel managed to keep up with my insatiable need for nutella in the mornings! :-) We'd recommend using the room terrace in the afternoons as well - beautifully quiet and peaceful spot to read or write postcards. We also had a sneaky night cap up there one evening (the room mini bar was well supplied and kept stocked up). So for us, this was a great find with so much going for it. The only slight drawback might be for those who have mobility issues. The hotel doesn't have a lift and the stairs are a little steep, especially those that go to the roof terrace. On the other hand, the access to the hotel isn't nearly as bad as we were expecting - there are some steep steps going up from the main road but there is a slight less direct route from the second, smaller square in Amalfi which limits the steps to about 5 or 6 allowing you to wheel your suitcases along the beautifully characteristic alleyways to the hotel. My husband and I are in our fifties and not at all fit but we had no problems at all. Unless you have particular mobility issues, we can thoroughly recommend this hotel. We're certainly looking forward to our next stay. Thanks to Cristian and the team for making us so welcome and looking after us so well.

Vincenzo, his mama Lidia, and their team including Sergio exceeded our expectations! The rooms were lovely, especially the tile! The location of the hotel was extremely central, yet when you closed the windows/doors and wooden shutters, all was silent for sleeping. The views from the rooms were great, as well. The attention we received from exceptional! Lidia treated us like her own grown up children and touched base with us every time we walked or down the stairs past the lobby! She always wanted to know what we were up to! The family's restaurant (out the door and to the right 2 minutes) was delicious! Vincenzo's sister took excellent care of us for our meal there! Other friends in our group ate their multiple times - we highly recommend! And the breakfasts - ahhh the breakfasts on the top floor (eat inside or outside on the terrace in sun or shade) were to die for! A terrace selection of foods and Sergio and a young lady (we didn't learn her name) delivered up fried eggs and lattes to our crew upon request every morning! We miss those breakfasts! Thank you so much for a delightful stay! We are so thankful we stayed with you!

My family and I just recently stayed at Casa Mao in the Amalfi coast and we loved it! Although I was nervous about having to climb 160 steps in order to reach our room- it was worth it. We probably had the best room which was a two story apartment. We had two balconies with killer views and an amazing view into the valley from our bathroom. The room was clean and well maintained. The owner Gianfranco was amazing. He made us all feel at home. He was helpful in making suggestions about to how enjoy the area but most importantly, he was kind and sincere and you could tell he took pride in his establishment. I would definitely go back. If you are driving to the coast be aware that there is a parking fee as well as a luggage service fee (if you have a lot of luggage, you would want to use this). Neither are cheap - only downfall. But other than that - fantastic place to stay.

We couldn't speak highly enough of our apartment. Our room was in the heart of the town, 5 min walk from the bus terminal, and our host Paola helped us with everything we needed. She organized for us to attend a free tour of the town with local host Michelangelo, who left us feeling a sense of connection to the town which beforehand we knew about. Our newly refurbished apartment, including brand new bathroom was VERY clean - something that's a high priority on my list. Even though we were in the heart of the town we didn't have any noise so we had a lovely sleep. We would definitely recommend this accommodation and would love to come back ! Thank you ! :)

5 days with no Wi Fi and this hotel promotes free Wi Fi on their website and gets better first day I check in, was given the Wifi password. Was told her phone worked but mine didn't very suss. Had every right to be. 2nd day a different person told me there was a problem outside of the hotel. Just so you know their private internet works fine because their eftpos , their printer, and laptop worked fine. But forget Wifi! Floors were filthy, I had to wash my feet before getting into bed. I could only open 1 door on my balcony and air conditioner wasn't that great. My overall experience was a let down as I had limited contact with my family and I was traveling solo. The big shower head was covered in mould needs to be replaced. Have to hold shower head to wash. Biggest gripe no safe in the room, only provided a lock draw with key and a wonderful sign out the front that states we are not liable for thefts in the room. I didn't have any issues but feel safer with a safe. 100 steps and its tough on the first day with luggage so small cases are best. My view from my room was beautiful and the bed was comfy. If looking for a place to put your head then this is it. Wasn't fussed on breakfast but it's food that is part of your stay If you can't live without Wi fi for 1 week forget it.

This was our final stop for 2 nights after our visit to Sorrento and Capri for my fiancé’s 50th birthday. As soon as we arrived we were accompanied into reception and luggage taken by the porter to be sent to our room. Check in was easy and staff were welcoming. We were shown to our room and were then treated to some fresh strawberries and chocolate. We also had 2 complimentary bellinis, I would recommend them! We had the sea view room (40) and if you can upgrade to this room I strongly recommend it. The view is amazing. There is a shuttle bus that takes you into Amalfi until midnight. We used this facility often and it’s definitely a benefit as you are away from the hustle and bustle of the town but can visit any any time during the day. Breakfast was continental buffet or hot food made to order. The bar area was lit by candles at night and was very pretty. We treated ourselves to full body massages at the spa on our last day, pre booking is recommended. Andreina de risi was an amazing masseuse. We asked for a medium strength massage with lemon oils to loosen our tired muscles from walking. If you are looking to unwind, I would definitely recommend it! We also visited the main restaurant for our last meal and we were definitely not disappointed. With a pianist in the corner of the restaurant creating a romantic and relaxed atmosphere. The staff were attentive, helpful and friendly. We had the chateaubriand and was not disappointed. The room was cleaned a couple of times throughout the day and slippers and water on the side of the bed left by the maids at night. We never got to use the pool area as we didn’t have the best of weathers but we did take some pictures and can see it being a great place to relax in the heat. If you are considering a luxurious stay in Amalfi, this is the hotel to be. Thank you Santa Caterina.
