Haven't had a Sunday lunch in a pub as good as this for years. Great imaginative selection of starters and mains catering for carnivores and vegetarians alike. The pork starter and succulent roast beef for the main was just superb. Good selection of veg with plenty of crispy roast potatoes. The only slight negative was the Yorkshire puddings were a bit too hard. I can't comment on the desserts as all eight of us were full from what we'd already had. The waiting staff were great, friendly and helpful. The pub itself is great with loads of eclectic bits and pieces here and there. The only downside is that living in Bristol we'll not be able to get to this pub again as often as we'd like. Already looking forward to our next visit whenever that is.

We have stayed at this Travelodge before and as we were back in the area we decided to stay again. There are plenty of parking spaces at this Travelodge which are free of charge and there are plenty of places to eat. We stayed here the day after the government said that all restaurants and bars would have to close due to the corona virus. You could still get takeaway from the Burger King etc We were disappointed to see in the current climate that there was no hand sanitiser at the reception for guests to use. We had just stayed at another Travelodge and they had plenty at the desk.We checked in at the reception desk by a nice member of staff who gave us directions to our room which was on the first floor. On entering the room felt very cold as there was no heating one which was easily rectified. The room was OK could do with some extra cleaning in the bathroom but nothing too bad. We had a good nights sleep but when we went to have a shower the next day it didn't work which was annoying so we had to have a bath instead which was very annoying as both of us prefer to shower. On leaving the hotel we did let the receptionist know about the shower but she gave the impression that she already knew that it didn't work, but hopefully this will be rectified for the next guests.

I wanted a single room but they have non so was given a family room and I was asked quite rightly to use just one bed. The bed was quite comfy and the room reasonably clean though dusty cob webs in bathroom and a take away sauce container was easily found. No hair dryer in the room and when I needed one I went and rang the bell but the owners were not in. I couldn’t use my electric tooth brush as there was no shaver socket. Water for the room was in a bottle on a tray but not replenished the second day. Everything else was fine but it’s the first place I have ever stayed where no razor socket or hair drier not available. Breakfast was disappointing in respect I was really hungry after the cooked breakfast. There were no cereals i wanted and fruit but very pleasant. I don’t eat sausage or bacon so just had egg, tomato, mushrooms and beans. Usually this is more than enough for me but the portions were very small. The second day the breakfast was just warm the poached egg I would not have served my family and it was hard. I filled up on nice warm toast and as I was offered more on the first morning I had more. however on the second day there was no such offer and they seemed too busy as another couple had arrived. The decaf coffee was instant and tasted poor. The host was very obliging when I said I’d only be staying 2 nights not 3 however. They were not full, having just 2 guests the first night and then 4 guests the second night In all for what I paid as there wasn’t much of a reduction for single occupancy it was very expensive for what I got. I certainly will not be staying there again

With the world turned upside down at the moment our holiday this year was 10 nights in Devon instead of our usual continental destination. We chose this hotel mainly for its ideal location on the outskirts of Plymouth giving us easy access into historic Plymouth as well as easy access to Dartmoor and the attractive villages. Also the drive across to Westward Ho! and Dartington crystal was reasonable. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable with very easy access. The service was very good and the staff were extremely helpful, friendly and very welcoming. As we are getting on in years check in changed us to a ground floor room with easy access to our car. The bar area and restaurant were well decorated and comfortable as was the lounge area. Clearly during these strange times distancing and Covid regulations were over-riding considerations but the staff worked very well within the statutory restrictions. Overall we did not feel worried about how things were being done. We had booked B&B, opting for the buffet breakfast rather than the full cooked. It came with a pot of porridge and a jug of hot water to put in it, croissant with butter and jam, breakfast biscuits, yoghurt, an apple and a drink, I opted for the coffee. In the event we also used the restaurant for our evening meals as it had a good choice of very good food and we could have wine without then having to drive back to the hotel. The refurbishment of the rooms had been put back because of Covid problems but we found our room satisfactory, clean and comfortable with an efficient shower. We had seen revues that said that the rooms could get a bit hot so we took a fan with us and found it useful on three particularly hot days, a minor point. We had also seen revues that said that the hotel was near busy roads causing traffic noise but we did not experience this.

We have just got back from a wonderful stay at the Moorland hotel , we were greeted by the owner Patty who was very friendly & welcoming at this very difficult time with the covid19 , we done a Groupon deal which included a continental Breakfast , offered a full English at £2.50 supplement per person per day very reasonable. Our room was cosy with everything we needed beautiful view of the coast in the distance. We also booked in for dinner both nights & weren’t disappointed 1st night my husband had rib-eye steak cooked to perfection & very tender I had chicken so tender & juicy also went for the dessert of mixed warm berries with crumb , clotted great & black currant sorbet which was lovely. 2nd night my husband had Belly Pork very tender with crunchy crackling I had gammon steak also very good , food quality & presentation excellent & reasonably priced the drinks also reasonable for a hotel. Had a good nights sleep . The area is also beautiful we went to National Trust places Cotehele nr Saltash the gardens were amazing the best show of different varieties of Daffodils I have ever seen also lots of displays on show plus Beautiful Camilia & Azalea trees we had a really nice time , then on way back came across Shanghai Bridge & Cadover ridge with rushing rivers & waterfalls & atmospheric Dewstone Rocks so unusual a lovely place for a nice calm stroll. Back at the hotel we had a nice time staff were all really nice. Would definitely go back & you can book direct & get a good price , they also accept dogs in some rooms. Oh also the full English Breakfast was excellent & well cooked not swimming in grease like some places. Next day tried the special smoked salmon & scrambled eggs & my husband kippers with scrambled eggs both really nice but be carful of the large bones in kippers we really enjoyed our stay at the moorland lovely staff & service & excellent food. Keep up the good work . They are still taking guest at the moment but please don’t put the staff at risk if you think you or someone you know has covid19

I booked this apartment at the last minute for a little bit of sea life and escapism! Wow it was just beautiful. The view, facilities, decor. It really has it all. The parking was simple and easy and safe and it was all accessible. The location is 10/10. My children loved it and so did we. Andy was on hand to help with any questions we had which we really appreciated. Bedding etc was immaculate. I couldn’t recommend this more highly and we will certainly return. Many thanks for a great weekend!

Breakfast is very good. The chef orders it now: omelet, shredded cheese, vegetables, mushrooms, etc. It's great. Other kinds of bread, fresh juice coffee tea. Meat has sausages, bacon. Peach apple, cantaloupe, pineapple and other fruits, a kind of Danone fruit yoghurt. All in all, including early value

I recently stayed here by myself and wasn't sure what to expect. On arrival the gentlemen on reception (didn't catch his name but worked on 21.08) was so so friendly and helpful, made me very aware of all the new guidelines in place. I was upgraded to a twin room which was nice, everything was very clean and the bed was so comfortable. Breakfast was take away but lovely, good sized portion. I would definitely stay here again when visiting. My only thing was that there were no toiletries supplied, definitely needed a bar of soap in current times but everything else was great. It is an old hotel but it has character.

Myself and my partner booked a two night stay here with the intention of attending an event at The Pavilions. Arrived late afternoon and checked in with ease - just be sure to enter your car registration for free parking. Booked a standard double room and WOW it was beautiful, spotlessly clean and beautifully presented - I could find no fault whatsoever and trust me I tried..... On arrival the plight of the Covid19 pandemic was just evolving with the news that all pubs, clubs, theatres etc were to close meaning the event we were to attend was cancelled so we made the gest of our stay, using the gym and pool on the ground floor. Gym suited my training needs albeit a little cramped between equipment and the pool even though small was clean, warm and quiet. Changing rooms clean and Club Continental staff were polite, professional and approachable. Really can not fault the stay, well priced, good location, fab accommodation, great room service, polite attentive professional staff and big thanks to Ben at the Bar - an asset to the team We will be booking again when the postponed event occurs later in the year Thank you Team Continental

Myself and my partner booked a room here as we were seeing a show at the pavilions and we knew that this area was close. We arrived and were greeted by a lovely lady who alerted the owner to the fact that we were there and that we needed a place to park as the booking.com advert stated that there is free parking. The owner then led us to the area where his customers are expected to park. It was a damp, dark and sloped cobbled alleyway less than 2 meters wide. We have an Audi Q3 and whilst we could have made it down there we wouldn't have been able to get out of the car! AND we did not fancy the reverse back up in the morning. Plus if anyone else had pulled up in behind us we would have been stuck! We asked where the alternative spaces were. The owner moved his car so we could park opposite the hotel but we had to pay £5 for the permit. We don't mind paying £5 but we detest false advertising when it comes to hotel and guest house stays. We told him he shouldn't advertise free parking as if your car is an estate or any larger than ours then you would be forced to pay the £5 parking permit. He basically then told us we were talking nonsense. We left it as we did not want to argue. The room itself was fine. Very small and very basic. Would certainly not return to this guest house.

All the usual good things about Premier Inn, however, I had a small issue. My face powder spilt on the carpet in my room, I was mortified, asked for a hoover but Charlotte told me not to worry, go out and enjoy the party we were visiting for. When we got back you would never have known there had been a mess! The other young lady who had been on in the afternoon very kindly ran across to the restaurant and brought me fruit tea bags directly to the room, we did not have to go and collect them from Reception. I think that they both went over and above and are a real credit to the hotel.

One of the best, cosiest rooms I’ve ever booked. Most hotel rooms smell a little bit stale, the first thing you want to do is opening the window. Not this one, it smells clean, fresh and welcoming (and not because there is one of these annoying perfume vaporisers just covering the stale smell). Moreover, there are plenty of lamps with pleasant light, so you can have your room brightly or less brightly lit. And in the newly renovated bathroom, there is also bright light, not the kind of dimly lit bathroom. The shower is a pleasure to use. I had room 4 with view on the harbour, including a nice little bay window. As it was a rainy night in September, it was calm during the night. In summer, this may be different. I was surprised to have two rooms in room 4, a small one with just a bed for one (perfect for your suitcase if you do not need it) and a large one as the main bedroom. Anne’s hospitality is amazing, she offered to dry my shoes (as it was a very wet day) without my asking and offered to organise a taxi for me as well. Unless you want to walk, you have to take a taxi from the train station or the ferry port, but taxis are inexpensive. I paid about 5£ for one way.

A group of 6 stayed at The Grosvenor for a birthday treat and we were warmly welcomed by Charlie (although we wrongly thought Chorley) and offered assistance with bags. There is a nice bar/lounge area for drinks before dinner. Parking limited but idea that we were able to park. Everywhere was immaculate, very clean. Hotel faultless really and there was a good atmosphere with the staff, really nice and helpful. The shower could do with a shelf for beauty things. The slate at the rear of the property was super slippy in the rain. Other than that, I would highly recommend this place and will definately return instead of a nation chain.

A small group of six from our dive club stayed here over the last weekend in August. The pub does not have any direct parking but a free car park is barely 100m away. The pub offers both en suite rooms (at a slight premium) and rooms with separate bathrooms. Our group were happy with our respective rooms, which were clean and tidy with television, tea making facilities and free wifi. The pub is dog friendly and from a previous visit, I know has a lovely roaring log fire in the winter. Breakfast was served from 07.00, consisting of juices, cereals and hot options (including vegetarian) made to order. The pub itself has a lot of character with various nooks, crannies and beer garden to explore. The pub serves a reasonable variety of local ales and meals are available, which we found to be wholesome and delicious, but the pub can get busy, particularly at weekends. The pub is just a couple of minutes drive or 10-15 minutes walk to the nearby water sports centre at Mount Batten, and the ferry, which transports pedestrians across to the quayside in Plymouth in under 10 minutes where a large number of bars and restaurants offer a variety of dining options. Alternatively, a 15-20 minute drive will take you to the quayside. In summary, a very reasonable pub BnB with nice rooms, good food and friendly staff.

Land’s End is a good-sized suite but the location of the bathroom and wardrobe, in the private “corridor” outside the bedroom, is rather inconvenient. At the end of this corridor is a door that opens into the hotel carpark. There is glass in the middle of this door which needs opaque curtains for privacy. There are a few parking spaces in front of the hotel but the rear carpark is more convenient for loading/unloading of luggage. There is no lift so guests with mobility concerns should ask for rooms on the same level as the rear carpark. Enjoyed the breakfasts. Location within walking distance of many restaurants. The nearby Hoe Park is great for early morning walks. Amiable hosts. Loved the wide selection of books.

Suitable for children, the hotel is in a great location, one hundred and two meters from the state bus station, the train station is four or five hundred meters, the beginning of the city center pedestrian street, very suitable for ordinary people to travel. We had three of the six rooms at One Caprera guest house, and all were spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds, modern ensuites with large shower cubicle and powerful showers! A small table with two chairs and kettle, with tea/coffee/hot chocolate. All the rooms were cozy in size, as to be expected in a house conversion, with a slightly larger "master" bedroom on the top floor, all decorated to a high standard and well maintained. A decent sized smart TV with Netflix was a refreshing change from the usual disappointing hotel TV's! Their is a family sized dining room with a large dining table, sofa and TV for communal eating, and a lovely kitchen that appeared to have quite a lot of staple items in the cupboards for those who might wish to cook their meals. We were only visiting for a funeral, and didn't use it, but it had a nice homely but modern feel to it. A private walled area outside with table and chairs provides an area for the smokers in the group, or for enjoying the gorgeous Devon air and eating in the sunshine. Communication with Christine was fantastic, a very professional and welcoming manner. We stayed during the lockdown for our mums funeral, and Christine could not have been more helpful or understanding, while keeping with the advice surrounding the lockdown! We never met her, keys were left securely for pick up when we arrived, and the whole place was spotlessly clean on arrival! Thank you for making an exception for our stay, I will definitely be staying here again on future visits to Plymouth, the city that still holds a piece of my heart! ❤

We stayed here for two nights as part of our short break - first one post-lockdown so really happy to get away. This is a lovely guest house and Rob and Sue are very friendly and can't do enough to help and advise on local items. Our room was a lovely size with very comfy bed. A nice touch were the USB charge points in the room. Everywhere is scrupulously clean with sanitiser as well. As has already been said, the breakfasts are fab. All freshly cooked to order - you really should try Rob's special cheesy-hammy-eggy while you're there! I am a fussy coffee drinker and it was lovely to have a cafetiere at breakfast. If you book direct with them, you get a free parking permit for your stay which was very useful and we managed to park outside. It's handy for everything - just a couple of steps from the Barbican itself. I'm so pleased we found this little gem and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again and would recommend it to everyone who's visiting Plymouth. Thank you again, Rob and Sue, we had a great stay.

We have just come back from a one night stay in 10,Clarence house,Royal William Yard, the location is Great, the apartment was spacious and clean but the only thing which let it down was the blinds in the bedroom which were broken, Sharon did tell us about it on arrival but it did feel a bit intrusive as we felt people could look in, funnily enough the lounge blind was ok and that room would’nt have bothered us as much, I thought it was disappointing as the rent charge isn’t exactly cheap! We would use plum locations again but we did feel the blind situation affected our stay. Sheila & Bob Dawson

I can't fault any of the staff that I dealt with on a one night Saturday stop-over to see my team lose at Home Park! They went out of their way to be as helpful as possible. The Room was great- warm, spacious and clean. I heard no noise problems as others have mentioned. Why do Premier Inns have endless corridors from reception, or at least a second door in and out - the Swansea one is the same! Low point.....The location is close to the Batbican, but involves walking around dingy, twisty paths or through a longer twisty road full of industrial units and you can encounter some dodgy locals on your walk! The shops and station is a long hilly walk and you know what the weather can be like in coastal towns! Would return though due to the pluses outweighing the negatives

I'm always one to support the underdog and needed to find a bed for one night in Plymouth. Google presented me with Mariners and after a quick direct phonecall I was booked to stay a few days later. Leading up to the point of check-in a flurry of communication was between us about expected arrival time, COVID protocols and a link to a required COVID health form. Upon arrival everything was clearly explained about how they were following UK Gov's advice. Hand sanitisers and reminder notices throughout the building. Breakfast was table service for eveything (not just hot food pre-COVID), and the big table itself safely partitioned between guests. After breakfast was cleared away the room was zapped by some ultra-violet light - big notices on the door warned guests not to enter. I understand one of the owners previously worked in dental/healthcare, and this was clearly evident - they took COVID seriously and both guest & staff health was high priority. I overheard one guest being told the rooms are somehow fogged as part of the deep clean process. You could probaby eat your dinner off any surface in this guest house! The room was clean, the bed was comfy, the full English breakfast hit the sweet spot (after sampling some famous Plymouth gin the night before...) and the price per night was staggeringly good value. To conclude, the Mariners is run by two professionals who take pride in their business and safety is a high priority. Fortunatey for me, one of my oldest friends lives in Plymouth - so it's a no-brainer who I'll telephone when I'm down that way again.

We booked for two nights vis the St Austell Brewery website ( some good deals on here) we were immediately impressed with the building when we arrived. I had last been here many years ago before St Austell bought it. The duty manager was extremely pleased and showed us to room 1 what a lovely room. We eat in the bar and the menu is excellent and the food is superb the kitchen is open plan and the chefs are happy to chat. I had a good chat with the duty manager on the merits of proper job on draught. The cask ale is excellent. Breakfast is superb. On the second night we met a couple of friends and eat in the restaurant. Why go anywhere else, the food and ambience is superb. We had a cracking stay and loved it. I would recommend this place 100% but as said have a look on the company website.

Twice I have been here (last time was 2 years ago). Just as good as I remember. I had booked a twin room which was all they had left at the time (I was going alone). Apparently the room had been double booked so I was switched to a room with a double bed! I didn't complain! Pros: - Very comfy bed - Nice hot shower - Fridge in the room - Plugs are close to the bed so easy to charge your laptop while using it - Nice and clean Breakfast in the morning very nice, plenty of it too. I do have a couple of minor niggles. One is the Wifi kept dropping out during the day but worked better at night. Also the extractor fan comes on whenever you turn the bathroom light on, and stays on for a set time. This wouldnt normally bother me but in my room the fan was really loud and sounded squeaky, so if I used the bathroom in the night i'd have to not turn the light on, or suffer the noise for several minutes after. Minor issues though, would recommend this place to anyone. Close to the sea too.

Our room was a superior King overlooking the green and the war memorials and out to sea. The food and service was superb from start to Finnish. If you worry about Covid safety, then this is the place. They follow strict guidelines however done in a way that does not take away any of the fantastic service. We stayed out all day the day of our cream tea so they even packed up scones for us to take home. And as the owner was on his way out as we departed he gave us a lift to our train. The whole team at The Invicta were incredible. Please go and stay, you will have a lovely, safe and pampered time in glorious surrounding. Thanks so much. We will be back.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was varied and delicious, our room was nice if a little small. What disappointed me were the Spa facilities. Aside from the reception area, they are a little run down. One of the hot tubs wasn't working when we stayed which was a bummer. The steam room was a little noisy at times. The water in the hot tub wasn't warm enough in my opinion. The staff were absolutely lovely
