The Lounge Inn is what it says on the tin: a guesthouse. Literally a place to use as a base to explore Porto offering just the essentials. Let’s start with the location: though not central, the Lounge Inn is a good compromise between distance and cost as prices are very reasonable compared to similar, more centrally located properties. There’s a metro station, Marquês, located just 5 minutes away on foot, or you can walk to all the main sights in approx 30 minutes. It’s a pleasant walk down the hill and I’ve actually enjoyed that part. However, at the end of a long day walking, catching the metro offered a very welcome relief to my sore feet! The area around the Lounge Inn is pretty uninspiring: there are a few cafes and a supermarket and that’s it really. Rooms are named after wines (I think!). I stayed in room Rosè on the first floor. Rosè was incredibly tiny with a large double bed, two bedside tables and a clothes rack which served its purpose despite being a bit flimsy. Bathroom is also on the small side, but has everything you need. There’s a very small patio you can get out on with a view on the spire of a nearby church. As nice as it is, the bell tolling every hour is a little annoying. Luckily it stops past 9pm. There’s AC in the room and a VERY tiny TV featuring Portuguese channels only. I don’t mind as I don’t watch TV but surely in this day and age it isn’t too hard to get sat TV with the bare minimum number of international channels? Oddly enough, rooms have no keys as such but the lock/open via a keypad. It’s handy so that you don’t need to remember to bring your keys with you, but it didn’t feel safe (maybe I’m old school!) Now, on the negative sides, on first look the room seemed very clean, but, on closer inspection, I saw many cobwebs and dust on surfaces. There were also 4 spiders and I spotted a couple of small ants and several hairs here and there. It would have helped if the room had been cleaned with a bit more care. The room has no safe and no coffee/tea making facilities. Fine, it’s a guesthouse, however these little touches would have made a huge difference - I had to go grab the only spoon that seemed to be available to eat some yogurt I bought from the store. Bed is a little on the hard side but I don’t mind. The pillows however are not for me - too soft. The real issue in this place is the noise - from the inside. The walls are PAPER THIN and it didn’t help I seemed to have elephants in the room above me stomping their feet at 2am. I’m not kidding when I say it felt like an earthquake in bed. Structurally, the building seems weak and it needs better soundproofing. If you are a light sleeper like me bring some earplugs! Staff seems lovely - I only met a lady who seems to be doing everything from reception duties to cleaning. Sadly, she doesn’t speak any language other than Portuguese. Absolutely not her fault, but you need to have languages if you run a tourist guest house. I speak Italian, Engl

We stayed two nights in this hotel. The style is retro, but with touches of modernity, I found it aestheticly nice. As the lift is not a little uncomfortable for the baggage. The staff were very friendly and friendly 😀 The triple room was quite date and not very spacious. The air conditioner was a little complicated to light (the remote control had no batteries compartment. The batteries were kept with scotch 😅). The small but functional bathroom. The washing machine was lost and I personally had difficulty washing because the spoon shower sets consist of 10ml bags each.... You should buy a spoon shower. I found it very good! There were traditional and handicrafted sweets, not the usual packed things. And always supplied. We personally did not enjoy their parking because on the front road, even 100 metres I believe, we found non-payment parking. I see many free parkings in the area 😁 as others say is very comfortable with the metro stop.

Absolutely delightful stay at the Hotel Jaguar for my birthday. The hotel was exactly as described at booking and exceeded my expectations. From checking in to checkout, I experienced professionalism, courteous, and friendly hospitality. I didn't have breakfast in the restaurant, opting to make use of the complementary fruit plate in the room for a breakfast in bed the following morning. Chose to have dinner at the hotel in the evening, which offered a set menu with a choice of dishes that was extremely generous and reasonably priced. It's somewhere I will definitely stay again should I return to Porto.

We had to make a last minute booking. Our main criteria for the hotel was cleanliness, Based on the reviews this hotel was what we were looking for. We gave it a try and weren't disappointed. Hotel was very clean indeed. Rooms felt a bit small, but they were nicely decorated. Hotel was located about 20-25 min walking distance from the city center. We didn't mind to walk. Most of the time we were returning back to the hotel after 9 pm, and we never felt unsafe walking in that area. Free breakfast was a pleasant bonus. Breakfast was sufficient. I just wish they had a slight variety. We stayed there for 4 nights and they offered almost the same food every day. Another room for improvement is balcony furniture, Our room had a balcony, with two cushioned chairs on it. We checked in to the hotel same day after the rain, during our stay we were never able to spend time on the balcony, because the sits were soaking wet. Everyone who was working there was great and extremally helpful. All our concerns were taken seriously and we always received maximum help and attention. Special huge thank you to the guy working the evening shift! He was amazing. Sorry, I can't remember his name. I would stay there again and would recommend this hotel.

It's a very nice hotel. It provides breakfast with a variety of varieties. The grandma in the restaurant is very kind. She especially likes the croissants from Monday to Wednesday. It is the best I have ever eaten. Please note that it is not the small croissant coated with sugar on the outside. In addition, if friends who like pizza go to the local area, they must try the pizza there. At that time, I just wanted to finish it quickly and continue to open the map, so I randomly found a restaurant and ordered the Oporto Bella Margheritta, which is about 10 euros and 12 inches. The first bite left an impression on me. The experience of eating pizza for the first time. After eating it, you will unconsciously start to question what the long pizza-like things you have eaten before are. Increase the amount

The good things, friendly and helpful staff, clean room. The awful: We got a disabled room, not sure why, but it meant the bathroom was a wet room, so floor was always wet. The toilet was too high, the sink too low! The light came on automatically, but the timer was set for 4 seconds only, even when showering it kept going off and on. During the night it would go on with the extraction fan for no reason. We did complain and were told an engineer would correct it…..never did! The room and bed were very small, no storage at all, we had a kettle and cups, but no Coffee or Tea, no spoon but there was a knife! I don’t know how you would ever get a wheelchair up the three steps into the hotel, from the narrow street? The hotel was locked morning and early evening, it was only because another guest was there, we knew about the side gate entrance. Car parking, was a tatty, near derelict private garage across the street. WiFi was poor, kept going off!

I have stayed in this hotel recently for weeks on end, so I think I can write with some authority about what kind of hotel it is and what can go wrong from the customer's point of view. Perhaps the biggest issue is noise. There appears to be little soundproofing between the rooms, and it is clearly unfit for purpose. Worse still is how the noise can sometimes be dealt with. On a recent visit I had a very unpleasant experience on my first night back to the hotel. At 1am, there was a lot of noise from the room of one of my neighbours. I called reception and spoke with Claudio, the person in charge. I explained the situation and asked to change to another room. Claudio sounded sceptical and said he was going to check the room from where I said the noise seemed to be coming. I told him that I was hearing noise not from the corridor but from my room, and predicted that he might not necessarily hear anything from the corridor. He phoned me back and said: ”the weirdest thing is that I heard no noise”. I told him it wasn’t at all “weird” and reminded him of what I had said. He suggested that I move to the room next door - the other side of the room from where the noise was coming. I told him I wanted to move away from, not stay beside, the noisy room. Soon after I moved to the new room, a couple entered a neighbouring room and started to shout and argue. I spoke to Claudio again. He sounded even more impatient now, and again expressed doubt that there was any noise occurring. He told me that I could move to yet another room - but warned me: ”you will still have neighbours no matter where you go.” It was now after 2am, and I was exhausted. Claudio's badge was not visible as he walked in front of me, and so I asked him what his name was. He turned around and said ”Claudio” and then pointed to his badge and said, sarcastically, ”you can see it on my badge.” I asked him not to patronise me, that I was not stupid, and also that I did not have to be reminded that there are always neighbours in a hotel. I reminded him that, as a frequent visitor to Eurostars hotels (I had spent almost 4 of the previous 12 months living in them in and around Porto) that I had never encountered such unprofessional, patronising, rude and arrogant behaviour from a Eurostars employee or one from any other hotel. Eurostars later asked me to give an account of my stay there. I told them about the above experience. I did not receive any response from them. However, when I spoke about the incident to the manager, Marco, he told me he was aware of my complaint. His position about it was strangely ambivalent. After apologising, he qualified the apology with: “I would ask you to look at it from our point of view.” His point that we all have bad nights. True enough, but there are limits to what a customer should be expected to tolerate. Another night, after 1am, when I asked to change room again due to noise next door, another person in charge, Ruben, curtly told me I could on

Charming and clean hotel room, did not find it noisy at all from street (excellent sound proofing), included a safe and minibar with reasonable prices. Had a lovely balcony door that opens to the street. We didn’t have breakfast in hotel, but it’s a great location for many trendy bars and restaurants. Used the gym (you can book slots to use) - pretty limited weights (doesn’t have proper clips on it as well) and no cleaning equipment in gym - so could improve on that. Overall we loved our stay!

I liked the most among European hotels I went to this time on my honeymoon. It's a small but lovely and very pretty hotel. When I was curious, it was said that it was built in 1829, but it is in excellent condition. It was rather antique and very good. When you open the window, the view is so pretty as if it were in a fairy tale. In the plaza in front, they perform performances, and they are gathered right in front of the bar restaurant, so the location is the best. If I go back to Porto, I will definitely stay at this hotel!! (Breakfast is tidy, but there are too few eggplants.)

We visited during a very quiet time for the hostel due to the pandemic however the hostel was beautiful with two really nice common spaces (one of which has a balcony with a view). The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful with us - giving us some really good tips for our short stay in Porto. The double room was beautiful and really spacious - possibly the nicest hostel private room I've stayed in! Bathrooms were spacious and pristine. Free breakfast was the icing on the cake. Thanks Oporto Invictus, we really enjoyed our short stay!

I stayed at this hotel last year and the experience was very positive. This year had to return and my first choice was to book again. The hotel is very central and allows you to get everywhere. The staff is amazing, from reception to the restaurant they were all amazingly friendly and attentive. I must say that last year i was served by Carla Teixeira and this year when i went down for breakfast, was served again by this amazing lady. She has the most positive attitude and is very helpful with everyone, i ve asked her for a recommendation where to get a birthday cake made for the same day and she gave the best recommendation.

I should say from the off that I stayed here almost a year ago, so my review predates Covid quite considerably. I booked the apartment well in advance and a few days before my stay received an email with instructions re check in and where to get keys etc. I messaged back accordingly with my estimated arrival time and again once I was en route to the apartment. I have to say it wasn't the easiest place to find, but this isn't the fault of the rental company but my navigation app. Ana met me outside the apartment and she was reallly friendly and helpful, making sure that I knew where everything was and how to contact her if I needed anything - I didn't but it was reassuring to know that the option was there. The apartment was for me fabulous - I had the ground floor studio which was perfect for a couple or indeed a solo traveller like me. I never had issues with loud fridges or loud anything, and I'm a very light sleeper. The apartment just the right temperature - important for a menopausal woman! There was a small table and a few chairs in the main room with an expandable wardrobe which I never used and of course the bed, which was one of the comfiest I have ever slept in. The kitchen and bathroom were at the other end of the studio behind a partition which could be closed at night - I left it slightly open so I could find the bathroom in the dark. The kitchen had everything I needed with plenty of utensils including a small dishwasher and a food sized fridge. The shower was great too with plenty of hot water and nice fluffy towels. Once I got to know the city I realised that this is a perfect location - close to the city centre and the river but also quiet and secluded. You can walk to most places within no more than 15 minutes or so and the train station is not much further away. There are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets close by for those want to eat out - or prefer to self cater. I did a bit of both. All in all for me this was a brilliant place to stay - very well located for an excellent price and really comfortable and well equipped.

The G.A. Palace is a great boutique hotel property located within walking distance of many restaurants and attractions of Porto. The property, from its rooms to its lobby to its pool area, feels luxurious in a relaxed, understated way. My room was large and extra-comfortable. The staff attending my room did an excellent job keeping the room in pristine condition during my 4 night stay. The lobby/front guest staff were always helpful with recommendations. I was able to book a great last minute wine tour with their help. My favourite things here were the amazing breakfast each morning downstairs, the relaxing pool/spa area, and the large-sized room. I would definitely want to stay here again and again. Kudos to the great team of staff working to make G.A. Palace such an enjoyable experience.

It's really the best... First of all, it's just the best. The location is close to the subway station and the supermarket, and I can feel that they put a lot of thought into the interior of the room. There's also an elevator, so I could easily move my luggage. The service is also hotel-level. They cleaned the room, provided water and towels, and prepared a welcome drink. The heater was on so I stayed warm, and they even helped me with the laundry. They even distributed white and black clothes. I was very impressed, the owner was very kind and spoke English. The stop of the metro (Marques) is only 300 mt away. The hotel is clean, friendly and available staff. Single beds at a half-stage square where you're resting charming. The hotel is really nice situated in a central location. It matches new design, embedded into old walls in a stylish yard. The vibe is really special. It has a classy groundfloor restaurant and a rooftop bar with a beautiful view of the river. Rooms are spacious, cosy and very clean. Some small details could be improved, like a shower door scratching against the floor, or a funny smell coming out of the overhead unit. But generally, very well designed and maintained. We also got a stunning balcony! Fire doors need some attention in the staircase as without door stoppers, they slam incredibly strong. Could be a health and safety issue, but certainly a very loud noise. The restaurant serves really good food and has a nice selection of wines. My only complaint was no ironing board in the room :) as a result we requested for my shirts to be ironed for ”tonight” on the same day, specifically stating they do not need to be washed. When our anniversary dinner came, we were told the shirts would be ready at the end of the day, obviously too late as we had to leave. When raising this, the lady who I believe managed the staff (so sorry I forgot the name!!), went above and beyond and made sure we get it on time. She saved the night, which we are very grateful for! I can really recommend the hotel, a great place to stay in Porto. Could be a bit cheaper I guess :)!

At the end of a week-long stay of rainy days, my daughter and I were both wet and cold from that day's rain, and walking from the apartment we stayed at while my daughter attended a conference. We checked in too early to get our room, but the staff did their best to accommodate us and get us into one sooner. We were so grateful to be able to take off our soaking clothes...and delighted to find a tiny carafe of port wine for us to enjoy upon entry. The room was a tiny studio but very well-appointed and cozy, and in a great part of Porto close to good restaurants and sights...all within walking distance. The staff was absolutely terrific.

This hotel is terrific! The location is terrific near the metro, shopping, and good restaurants. Katarina at the front desk was incredible resolving an issue we had with transportation to the airport. Everyone was helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean and the staff very responsive. You can't go wrong staying here! It was the best hotel we stayed at in Portugal!

Stayed four night as a base for Porto centre. Would give it 3.5 if possible to use halfs. Rooms were clean although showing signs of wear. Bed made up daily and fresh towels. Lack of shelf space in cupboard. Used for breakfast once but also tried the Mitica Inspiracao out of the back door twice for a more relaxed setting and no temptation to overfill v the buffet. Shower has good temperature and flow. Friendly and helpful reception staff. Nearby supermarket for anything you need. The bus from the airport took 50 mins during the morning midweek, and initially goes away from the hotel before heading back towards it. If I was doing it again I would take the Metro to Ramalde the nearest stop and then get an Uber to the hotel. The airport Metro is just behind the road at arrivals. Bus 304 seemed the quicker bus than the 300 or 301 into town. Had issues with bus reliability getting back from town after 8pm using information from route planner on Google maps .. chasing round various bus stops near the Town Hall Square to no avail. Ended up prefering to get the Metro back to Ramalde and then €3 for an Uber. Opted to use luggage lockers at Trindade Metro, €6 small for upto 12 hours rather than detour back to the hotel on the last day. Other sizes available but limited availability.

We stayed at the One Shot, Porto for three nights in mid October and found the hotel (apart from the ongoing metro works nearby) charm personified. All the members of staff we found friendly, polite, and warm, with a an excellent knowledge of the local places of interest. Quite obviously this is to be expected of most hotels, however on our last nights stay I had the misfortune to have left my travel documents in a taxi. It was close to nine o'clock. The duty manager, we felt, went above and beyond his role by providing all the help we needed to obtain copy documents. To which we cannot thank him enough. When booking the One shot do not be put off by its price and opt for cheaper alternatives, and the end of the day its all about the service one receives, and as we all know the cheaper alternative can often prove the more expensive in the long run. If the owners are reading this review give the members of staff a huge pat on the back for services above and beyond a call of duty. Richard and Ann Sinclair.

Having had to leave our previous 'hotel' as it was so horrendous we arrived here where we were greeted with very friendly staff and a warm lobby. They sorted us a room and must have given us a really nice room following our bad experience as we were on the 6th floor at the back with a lovely view of the city. The room itself was really quite large and the bed was extremely comfortable. We slept so well! There was a TV, free wifi, AC/heating and a really nice bathroom. The bar/room service menus were reasonably priced and the staff had great knowledge of the city. The hotel itself is about a 5/10 minute walk from the main station you arrive in to from the airport which was really handy for our early journey on our final day. Would stay here again if I went back to Porto!

We stayed 3 nights from 6th May in room 307 with city view ( which it worth paying for ). Location was great, staff very helpful and friendly, also great at accommodating our checkout request. The room was big, modern decor and great shower, cleaned every day, it didn’t have an iron though but we didn’t ask for one either. The breakfast was ok, I would have liked more choice especially hot food. The coffee in the room situation is weird. You only get 4 coffee pods for the whole stay ( although we stayed 3 nights ) so what I would suggest to the hotel management is just take the coffee machine out and put some instant coffee sachets in since there is a kettle. This ways you won’t annoy your guests… I would return!

If possible, I would suggest avoiding this hotel. There were many issues with this stay. Let me attempt to break this down in a structured way: Hotel: This hotel has no Porter, no trolley cart. So if you’re traveling with a family and have bags / need baggage assistance you’re on your own. There are A LOT of mechanical issues at this property. When I went to use the urinal in the lobby the pee quite literally just poured out the bottom of the urinal and straight onto the floor as though the plumbing were not even connected. Yikes! And they admitted that they were aware when I told them they NEED to close that bathroom. The entry way automatic doors were misfiring. Randomly opening and closing. Kind of like an obstacle course. The elevator sensors didn’t work and on 3 occasions tried to eat me or my kids. At one point the elevator door closed so violently that it knocked me backwards and my 2 and 5 year old were left in the elevator by themselves. Thankfully they pressed the correct floor number. Service: As a Lifetime Titanium Elite we’ve grown to appreciate the little things that a property can do to make your stay special. That’s not really in the vocabulary for this place. For starters, we booked 2 rooms because we knew that with 2 kids and 3 adults we needed to have space. Despite reaching out to the hotel and letting them know that we’re a family traveling together they tried to put us on 2 separate floors. Cmon. Also we submitted our Suite Night Rewards which is a voucher that you earn and it entitles you to a suite upgrade if one is available. Not to be confused with just “expecting” an upgrade. Oddly (and against company policy) they redeemed our Reward but then didn’t give us a suite because they claimed that only the room that the person with the status was staying was eligible. Sorry, but that’s not even remotely true. It’s like saying that you can only redeem your points for the room you’re saying in. 🤣 And let’s talk about the little things. Water. Guests with status are entitled to 2 bottles of water per night. I’ve stayed at over 100 properties. Congratulations AC Porto on being 1 in 100 in the worst possible way. They refused to give us water and advised that we could buy it from the mini bar. We were given 1 bottle per room. So 2 total bottles of water for 5 guests. For 1 night. If you have status and you’re reading this, I apologize for making you spit out your coffee. But seriously. It’s bizarre. You have to stay 75 nights per year to earn Titanium status so there’s a lot of revenue being fed to the chain. It’s a bottle of water for fffffs sake. Oh and again, for folks with status, you’ll know that you receive a welcome gift. It’s either points or breakfast. Here at the lovely AC Porto their breakfast is €15 per person, and the Welcome Gift is €10 credit. So in essence they’re giving you 1/3 of breakfast. And that’s only for ONE room. They do not extend that amenity to the second room that we paid for. Room: S

OK so we arrived very early and the whole of the front and one side of the hotel is surrounded by construction for the new metro. I really feel for the staff but they were handling it well. We did have to wait a long time to check in but that was because they wanted to give us a room away from the building work. The junior suite was great and the welcome was fab. Breakfast was stunning and the staff were adorable.

The single rooms are very small, but sufficient for a multi-day city trip. The hotel is very clean and completely renovated. Complimentary water is also offered. The staff are very friendly and gave me a lot of tips on arrival and were very helpful. The reception is not open 24 hours. When I rented a bike for several days (also overnight), I could store it inside in the luggage room (got a key for it). Very accommodating and recommended. Location is also ideal.

The room is not big and parking is convenient. There is no heating, so you need to consider beforehand when entering in summer and winter. There are some commercial services around, the old shop is relatively outdated, the room is small and not suitable for children
