Malaga
|0.22km from city centerThis is a really nice hotel, but don’t be fooled by the name, it’s more budget than premium. The staff are all absolutely lovely, really pleasant from check in to check out. They greeted us every single time we entered and left the building and are a real credit to this hotel. So let’s start with the room. I booked the superior room with views and I’m not sure that I got that room because it looked nothing like the photographs on the website which showed two large windows and quite a spacious room. We had a double room with a balcony overlooking the square, on the first floor. This is NOT recommended. It was so noisy, and it wasn’t so much the chatter and traffic outside, but the restaurant. At opening the chairs were dragged across the ground, the bumping music was turned up so we didn’t sleep in once during the holiday. Then at night had to listen to it all again. It wasn’t at all relaxing. And if we didn’t hear the restaurant, we heard the lift going up and down all night long. This isn’t really the room I thought I’d be having, whilst there was a balcony, it wasn’t the views they show on their own website. The room was also really small, like i mentioned above, more budget than premium. One thing that really made me laugh was the room had a kettle and two cups, but absolutely no tea or coffee was supplied apart from two tea bags and two packets of sugar when we checked in. When i asked at reception if we could have a couple of coffees, just assuming that housekeeping had forgotten, I was told if I wanted coffee, I had to go to the restaurant. That’s fine, but what is the point of having a kettle and cups in the room?? Even the most basic hotels supply tea and coffee as standard, so why a hotel that claims it’s premium wouldn’t makes no sense. The bathroom was also poorly designed with the sink jutting out so far you had to go around it to the toilet. The shower, however, was amazing. Also, not the end of the world but there are no foreign language channels on the tv (no English or German) so if you’re planning on chilling out in your room in the evening or even just want to drown out the sound of the restaurant below, remember to take an ipad or something you can stream from. The rooftop bar was another great point, again the staff were great, it was really spacious and it was really cheap to buy drinks. The hotel was really clean and housekeeping did a great job everyday too so no complaints in that department. The hotel is also in a really good location, right in the heart of the city, and whatever way you turned when leaving the hotel you ended up somewhere great.

|0.4km from city centerI recently stayed in Malaga with my family and other family members for 6 nights. The staff were very welcoming and accommodating. The location is amazing, everything is walking distance. The hotel is located in a very vibrant area which is buzzing with restaurants, bars and cafes. The hotel offers a nice breakfast with a wonderful view of the Alcazaba. All in all, had a wonderful time which was made even more special by the staff, looking forward to visiting again soon.

|2.63km from city centerGreat location. The hotel is very close to the sea. The surrounding area has many restaurants, local bars and the regional market. The train station is 30 minutes on foot. The hotel is very clean, the rooms are cleaned every day, the towels are also changed. On the ground floor there is a modestly equipped kitchen (coffee machine, microwave, toaster, sink). The hotel staff is very friendly. The reception is available 24/7, so we felt safe. I recommend!

|0.5km from city centerGenerally a good experience. Comfortable bed and sofa. Good shower and toilet facilities. The kitchen area was adequate but small. Two unit induction hob, needed a steel plate to use the aluminium non stick frying pan (provided) Only worked really well on the back element meaning reaching over the pot on the front element. That aside - Very happy to recommend the COEO apartments. Not dead central, to the historic centre but very close. Possibly a benefit as Malaga is a late night city with a lot of people out till way later than Carolyn and I are up at night. Would have been a 5 out of 5 but for the slightly smaller than ideal kitchen facilities. All the plates, cutlery pots etc more than sufficient. If you’re looking for a spacious well maintained -semi apartment to come home to after a weary day in a great city, look no further. Would we come back to COEO apartment hotel, YES

|0.07km from city centerWe ended having our flights cancelled suddenly and had to quickly at 3pm find somewhere to stay . This was available and was read well and 15 mins into the centre from the airport. It was right in the middle in between the shops on 6 floors and nice and modern, greeted by friendly staff. We had a nice room , which despite requesting a double found we had a twin but as we were only there overnight , decided to stay put. Nice black and white decor with a small but nice bathroom with good accessories and good air conditioning. Have had a stroll outside, owing to the frustrating day we’d had we headed to the 5th floor to the rooftop terrace. Scaring the bar staff as we arrived bang on 5pm with no sign of anyone and were trying see if it was open when they appeared not expecting anyone to be up there. It’s a lovely place to see the city overlooking the cathedral ( merrily ring out the bells ) and served lovely cocktails and snacks to keep us going. Surrounded by loads of bars and restaurants ,you don’t have to go far to find somewhere and later on Malaga comes to life and is thriving and lively. We will come back and stay longer next time.

|0.48km from city centerSo the good bits first .. Location - edge of town, so cheaper than the centre for everything but also convenient as only 5mins to the tourist part. Staff- Very friendly and helpful Breakfast - we didn’t book but it looked reasonable Improvements needed.. 1) This is not my idea of boutique there are at least 4 floors and over 100 rooms 2) The balcony is Juliette so no room for sitting but you could see the castle, mountains and Cathederal from ours 3) this is not set up for long stays , as you’ll see from the picture I mainly had to live out of my suitcase - no storage for clothes ( I saw previous complaints so did take a few hangers but hadn’t quite factored in NO drawers at all and just a suit hanger thing) 4) no bin in the room 5) most importantly for those with mobility issues ( I cannot do stairs easily due to prosthetics) not all rooms are accessible by lift - this is not shown or explained on the website . I attach a picture of the stairs to access the front rooms. In my opinion this is a great ‘weekend’ or ‘business trip’ hotel but it still has a lot of improvements needed to make it Boutique and good for holiday makers. TOP TIP- visit the ‘authentic Sherry Bar ‘ just round from the hotel - an experience not advertised anywhere but not to be missed !

|0.44km from city centerFirst the good parts: - Staff is friendly and helps within the limits of their possibilities - Beds are comfortable - Was given a new room when I had concerns about another guest coughing a lot - location Now the bad stuff: - lockers are too small for most people's bags, which are then placed between the beds. I could fit my backpack only because I can dismantle it - curtains only cover half of the frontside of the bed in some rooms - and even if the whole front is covered at the back there is plenty of room for light to come in - the bed construction is not sturdy enough. If the other person moves, the whole bed is rocking - showers and bathrooms aren't clean. I've seen worse, but also way better. - This seems to be hostel for party crowds. Don't go there if you plan not-party-based vacationing or actually want to sleep at night and not during the day, which many people seem to do - people in the hallway and on the street might as well shout in the room. There seems to be no sound isolation. - when staff was alerted (by multiple people according to their own account) that there was a person who seemed infected they didnt seem to talk to that person and ask for a quick test or that he sleep with a mask. Instead they moved me to a different room upon request and presumably filled the room with someone else since they were fully booked. All in all this was by far the worst two nights during my vacation. It was IMMENSELY OVERPRICED considering what the hostel has to offer. I would NEVER come back and not recommend this to anyone. I even considered moving out early, but I couldn't get a connecting train that would fit my schedule.

|1km from city centerWe really enjoyed the location of the hotel on the hill above the old town, next to the castle. It is a steep walk down/up the path and it takes about 15 mins but we enjoyed the challenge a few times - the other times (when we’d eaten too much at dinner), we got a taxi back up for about €7! The number 35 bus also stops at the hotel. The path is lit at night so doable then too. There’s plenty of parking at the hotel and this is free. Our room was nice - comfortable and spacious with a sun-trap balcony with chairs and sun loungers. The bathroom is a bit dated in places, but well maintained and clean. Breakfast was good - the buffet had a decent amount of choice, plus there was a small menu of hot items.

|0.28km from city centerWe stayed in 4 rooms as a group of 8 friends doing a speedy mini break in Malaga. The standard rooms were set up as twins as we requested and we all very keen and really well appointed. Great water pressure in the shower! All of the front desk staff could not have been more helpful and accommodating. The hotel is so well positioned for a malaga city break just steps from the Cathedral. We had lunch at Matiz which was tasty and even after a miscommunication due to a translation issue they were quick to correct the problem. breakfast was included and was simple and what you would expect - it would be nice to be offered the hotter options as we didn’t realise we could get those until after we had finished our last breakfast!. Our only real disappointment was on our last evening when we were going out for a special meal and wanted to have a cocktail on the roof top bar. We had left 45 minutes but the waiter (v curly hair) wouldn’t serve us at the bar and insisted he would come to take our order - despite telling us on 2 occasion he would just be 2 or 3 minutes (and serving others arriving after us) , it was 20 minutes later and we still hadn’t had a drink so left to go to our dinner reservation which we would otherwise be late for and had a cocktail there instead. It seemed a really disappointing thing to happen and left us very disappointed given the standard of all the other staff and service at the hotel otherwise. We would defiantly return but perhaps steer clear of the rook top bar.

|0.58km from city centerEase of check in left our bags at 11.00 as we couldn't get until 4.00 the concierge peaks very good English said he would phone when room was ready. Had a few ours sight seeing and shopping. The room was Fabulous we paid extra to have the roof terrace well worth it, we sat outside watching the world go by while having a few drinks. In the room was a list of restaurants listed by what they offered and price. While we were there we tried three of the restaurants amazing and a local bar. Plenty of hot water nice fluffy towels they do not change towels or sheets unless you ask and there is a charge, not sure if its different if you stay a week The one thing that stops it having 5* is you have to take your rubbish outside to the nearest public bin and hope its not full as we found on our last morning and my husband had to go to the next street to find a bin not good at 8.00am.

Malaga
|4.89km from city centerI am newer to hostels, but I have stayed in several and have a general idea of what to expect. Communication wise, they were excellent. They asked about the time I was to check in. When I responded that it was what they considered ”after hours”, they made arrangements for me to have keys ready and available for me to enter the building and my room with no issues, They were easy to get in touch with after hours with problems, as I arrived and my room had not been cleaned (dirty linens, half empty water bottle, dirty towel on the floor, hair on the pillows, etc. They apologized profusely, and gave me free breakfast for my stay. However that was only available after 8am everyday and consisted of small pastries and cereal. Facilities were ok. The internet functioned, as did the AC in my room. There was a washing machine that was available, and worked well. There was also a fridge and freezer that travelers could keep items in. The only thing is the kitchen (which also housed the washing machine) was only open after 8am, so if you needed to be somewhere before then, you were out of luck, as the room was locked. There was supposed to be a desk and reading lamp in my room, neither of which was present. Also, note, that there are only 2 bathrooms. One for men on the 3rd floor and one for women on the 2nd floor. So, I ended up staying on a floor with a bathroom I couldn't use and had to go to a different floor every time I needed something in the bathroom-- not too convenient. Cleanliness: ignoring the room being dirty at check- in, the hostel didn't seem to clean to me. Im not sure how often they clean, but it didn't appear to be a daily thing- especially the bathroom. All in all, I would not recommend this place for anyone unless there were no options or unless staying near the beach was mandatory (<5minute walk).

|0.06km from city centerWe were totally amazed by the hotel! It was ideally located just off the main shopping street in Malaga. The bells of the cathedral could be heard from our room! |0.52km from city centerWe stayed here for two nights in May to visit the wonderful Malaga old town. We were greeted with a glass of fizz as we checked in and were granted an early check in. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and well equipped. We had a cathedral view room which I would say was well worth the additional expense. We had a large terrace with a table and chairs and a stunning view across the city. The only downside to the room was the lack of mirrors, there was only one in the whole room which was in the bathroom. The aircon was fantastic and kept the room wonderfully cool. The bed was also extremely comfortable and we enjoyed our nespresso coffee sat in the morning looking at the view. I would just be aware that the rooftop bar was extremely expensive in comparison to other bars in similar locations across the city. It was €6.50 for a 125ml measure of house wine and a 330ml beer was €6.

|0.48km from city centerWe have just returned from a wonderful second visit to the Suites del Pinter. This very well equipped accommodation is immaculate. There is a lovely roof terrace with sunbeds and sofas. Perfectly situated and only a short walk to the city’s historic centre. All staff are very welcoming, kind and helpful. The Teatro de Cervantes is just a 150 meters down the Road where we experienced a performance by the Malaga Philamonic Orchestra and 80plus persons choir. Amazing! Also close was the Museo de Arte Flamenco,Peña Juan Breva where we enjoyed an incredible evening of passionate flamenco in an authentic setting. Malaga has so much to offer and staying in this accommodation made our holiday extra special.

|0.6km from city centerSpent 4 nights here and were very pleased with the hotel. It’s a short walk to the train station, the old town and the shopping centre. We had a late flight and when I contacted the hotel, there was no problem with a late check-in. Room had a king size double bed, bed settee and kitchenette. The fridge contained complimentary water and there was a tea and coffee making facility. Bathroom was excellent; both a bath and a huge walk-in shower. Separate toilet, which is very useful. Despite the hotel being right in the town, soundproofing was excellent m, so we were not disturbed, despite the Holy Week processions. My only gripe is there were lots of shelves, but only one drawer. I don’t like my undies being on display, so removed the hair drier from the drawer so that husband and I could share the space. Also only 3 hangers and no hooks for coats etc. Please supply more hangers!!!!! We didn’t eat in the hotel, as there are so many places nearby. Staff were very welcoming and efficient. Would definitely return.

|1.47km from city centerStayed at Hotel beginning of October for 3 nights. Brilliant location if travelling from Airport by train (10 minutes & about 3 euros. Hotel attached to Maria Zambrano train station (don't go to Central!) 2 minute walk from escalators. Also convenient enough for Malaga old town. Staff were all really friendly & helpful. Room was good - large, well equipped, large comfy bed - air con a bit noisy. Small roof top pool with bar a great place to relax. Breakfast buffet brilliant - OK the scrambled eggs were a bit overdone, but even the toaster made good toast quickly (usually the bane of hotel breakfasts!) And a whole honey comb with real honey on offer. We really enjoyed our stay - wouldn't hesitate to go back if we were staying in Malaga.

|1.21km from city centerWe loved this hotel. It has an elevator (lift) Our room was spacious, very clean and the beds were comfy and made up daily. The bathroom was clean and the shower worked well. Breakfast was included for us at Hotel Don Paco, about 2 blocks away. The breakfast buffet was excellent with eggs, bacon, mini croissants and bread, cereal, fruit, coffee and several juices. The hotel is just a short walk from the Maria Zambrano train station, perhaps 15 minutes. We also found several tapas bars a couple blocks away, plus an ATM 4 blocks. HINT: We found it hard to flag down taxis in the vicinity of Hotel Zeus. The best way we found was to walk to the train station, where there is always a taxi waiting!

|0.29km from city centerstayed for 5 days, cant beat the location. walkable to every point of interest in the historic center. The hotel is designed like a ship so it feels kind of tight inside the hallways and elevator is tiny. Nevertheless, the room design was modern, comfortable and ecofriendly. Cleaning staff does an excellent job. Amazing view from rooftop and food at the restaurant up there was good. NOTE for business travels, or anyone needing to use wifi. Their WIFI is NOT GOOD, it did not work in our room unless we stood close to the door our outside in the wall and common areas. Not helpful when you need to work or use your phone in the privacy of your room. We spoke to staff about it and they were not much help, it is what it is. They say 'you can use the internet in the common area' Okay.. Breakfast buffet is expensive so not really worth it. Doorman will continually ask you if you're staying there, even after seeing you every day lol- guess that's their job. ALSO not friendly for anyone with disabilities or mobility issues, there's no ramp at the front, you have to lift your luggage up the steps. meh

|0.34km from city centerThis hotel sits on the bank of a non-existing river just at the very beginning of the old town of Malaga. Actually, it is on top of the old medieval town wall with some Roman parts. It can be seen through the glass floors you walk on at the entrance to the hotel and even better a half level down. It is fantastic! The whole reception area is very airy and beautiful. Our room was large and very nice. The bed was soft, a very unusual luxury in continental Europa which I very much appreciated. However, there could have been more than one chair in such a large room. It is now completely dominated by the bed. The bathroom was rather big and included two wash basins. Even if it was a bathtub and not a shower, which I prefer, it was well covered with full glass doors, so it worked fine. The only disadvantage was the high walls of the bathtub and together with the internal three steps stair up to the bathroom and entrance it is not very good for those who have restricted movement abilities. Our room had three full lengths windows, so called French windows looking out into a nice car free area. Unfortunately, the hotel was in my view overcautious since they had put a number of large red stickers on them that completely spoiled everything, otherwise it could have been very nice. The breakfast was good with a large buffet, the only thing that could have been added was an omelette chef. The staff in the breakfast room was very nice and even more so those in the reception. I liked this hotel very much.
