A nice hotel, clean rooms and friendly staff, especially the breakfast staff. Decent breakfast, the mohinga was excellent. My only complaint is that the eggs were always really cold. Good location 5 minutes walk to the Junction mall and 15-20 minutes to City Mall. You can find restaurants, Bread Talk, a supermarket etc at the Junction which is very convenient.

I didn't have high hopes for this hotel, but the photos and rating seemed good. I should have been more cautious and read the reviews more carefully. First, there is no elevator. My fault for not checking that, so no negative rating for this. The hotel has 8 floors so you may have to climb 8 stories to your room. The biggest shock factor was how old and beat up the rooms were. The website pictures look nice but are either photoshopped or so old that they no longer are accurate. The walls are dirty and covered in the blood of many dead mosquitoes. The bathrooms used to have white grout, but now are black with mildew. -2 rating for horribly accurate pictures. Second, the hotel does nothing for mosquito control. I stayed in multiple hotels throughout Myanmar and every hotel was proactive at controlling the mosquitoes. This place does nothing and the rooms were filled with them. We got bit multiple times during the night. -1 rating for mosquito control. We got the entire floor (two rooms), and one of the rooms smelled of cigarette smoke. -1 rating for that. +1 rating as the staff seemed nice, the breakfast was decent, and location was good. That adds up to a +2 rating. I would not recommend this place at all.

HOTEL BALMI, After staying with 4 of my family in the HOTEL BALMI for 20 days, my experience in this hotel will not disappear in my life time memories. The rooms are huge, high security for the family, spotless clean, high tech light switch, amazing temperature control (even water for shower), very convenient to access to China Town and with fantastic house keeping team. My favourite activity was having a drink & delicious foods and looking the stunning sun set river view from roof top restaurant that is smashing. On the roof top restaurant, Opposite of the river view, I can even see the Shwe Dagon Pagoda (the greatest landmark of Myanmar), WHAT A GOOD LOCATION IS. All the staff are well trained professional in their rows, very polite and willing to provide their relevant services to the guests at anytime even in the 2:00am. My favourite staff are Patrick (F&B Supervisor) Shine Ko Ko (F&B Captain) Zin Ko Khant (F&B Service) Tin Win Aung (Bartender) Thura Maung ( Operation Manager) Than Naing Lin (Bell Boy) Soe Aung (Night Security) Then, I celebrated my 43rd birthday party at the HOTEL BALMI roof top restaurant. All the decorations, live music, foods & drinks managed by restaurant manager Patrick & team. My birthday party was my best party I have ever had. All my family really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We strongly recommend to stay at HOTEL BALMI whatever the reason in Yangon, Myanmar.

This is our second visit together and yet again expectations were met. This is a unique family ran team, from housekeeping, restaurant service, through to reception staff and general staff. Every member well trained and focused on their responsibilities. Great food and service in the bistro, perfect execution of dishes and waiting staff incredibly well versed in their duties. Breakfast is OK, there are more types to choose from. Breakfast is the same as most hotels from 6:30 to 9:30. The room I stayed in could not have an extra bed. Suitable for children. The location of the hotel is very good, easy to find, very close to the Ruiguang Golden Pagoda. There is a small parking lot in the hotel. It is no problem to park five or six cars, but there are only one or two cars in normal times. The front desk service is especially good. If you go out to play more expensive, they will help you to call the taxi price will be more reasonable. When I left the store, I was in the morning flight. The breakfast at 6:30 allowed me to dine at six o'clock. The front desk service manager I have contacted many times is a man who has been a 13-year-old man. He is a good man, humble and courteous, and good at English. The only problem that arises is that the location of the hotel does not match the location indicated on the map. Great hotel close to the airport and reasonably close to town. The hotel has shops/restaurants and easy access to both downtown and the airport. Stayed 1 night after arriving in Yangon. The hotel is very slick, well run and professional. Check in was easy and straightforward. The staff were helpful, friendly and informative. There is a bar and coffee shop serving Lavazza coffee and other guest services too. The room service menu is good and spa services are very reasonable too. The room was very clean and had a nice, modern over sized bathroom. Although breakfast starts at 6, the restaurant is functioning and fully operational by 5.45. I was leaving to catch an early flight and managed some breakfast before leaving. A big thank you to reception and the chefs/breakfast staff for being very organised. Overall a good stay in a decent hotel. Would recommend.

My family was in Wyndham to celebrate our son’s first birthday. We asked the staff to help us with the decorations if possible and they did help us with all the decorations as much as they could. Shortly after, the hotel staff ran the door bell and surprised my family with a complimentary cake for our son. The 4 staff who came to surprise us Yee Mon Kyaw, May, Phillis,Myint Myint, my family would like to sincerely thank you all for your effort and kindness. Staff were friendly and helped us a lot. We mentioned when we booked the room that we were going for our honeymoon. The hotel immediately upgraded our room, upgraded our standard room without windows to a luxurious balcony room, and the view of the Ruiguang Shwedagon Pagoda from the balcony. They even prepared roses in bed and bathroom. Another thing that surprised me was that when we finished the view and returned to the room, we found the hotel sent us a beautiful cake and a postcard full of blessings. I was very impressed by their care and service to customers. In addition, the breakfast buffet they offer is very rich and delicious.

This is a huge hotel at the central of Yangon, with nearby shopping mall which is very convenience for traveller who need to do some shopping, it also has many food selection in the mall. This was my 6th visit to Yangon, but my first stay at the Golden Butterfly. The hotel was chosen for its close proximity to the Shwedegon, our only reason for this visit. The hotel is ageing, aren't we all, but it still maintains some of its old grandeur with its beautiful entrance displaying timber craftsmanship of days gone by. The reception was managed professionally in a friendly welcoming manner. The room allocated was airy and clean, with a very large bed, TV and room safe. The bathroom was of normal size,clean and well maintained however the old style shower bath configuration may be difficult for the aged or those with hip and back problems as the bath stands approximately 50 cm high. We were only at the hotel for three days/two nights and as stated earlier our sole purpose this visit was to see the Shwedegon. During OUR stay the staff were friendly and helpful, arranged taxis for us and provided us with guidance as to shopping. The restaurant staff could not have been more helpful and friendly, providing me with a large mug for my breakfast tea rather than the usual 'thimble' size cups. The pool area was clean and a nice place to finish one's evening with a cold beer and a glass of wine. Overall this is a low to medium priced hotel ideally situated for a visit to the Shwedegon. Recommended though older or infirm guests should check out the bathroom configuration before booking.

As an international student in Myanmar, I recently spent a week at Hotel Scion Yangon and had a fantastic time. The hotel is conveniently located near the airport, which made my arrival and departure very easy, and their pick-up and drop-off services greatly helped this. The staff was friendly and they were always willing to help with any questions or requests. I particularly appreciated the high-speed internet, which allowed me to stay connected with my work and friends back in Australia. The rooms were also clean and had a nice comfortable beds, which were all very well equipped with all the necessary amenities. Additionally, I appreciated the fact that the hotel has a lot of plugs available for multiple devices, which made it easy to charge all of my electronics. Finally, the rooftop bar was my favorite which offered fantastic views of the pagodas around the hotel and is a great place to relax and unwind after a busy day of exploring. Overall, I would highly recommend Hotel Scion Yangon to any international students visiting Myanmar.

The lobby is just as good as the rooms. The layout is similar to that of Vienna in China, but there are no office desks. The price/performance ratio is more expensive than in China. As of March 2022 This hotel is being used as a quarantine facility for overseas arrivals. The hotel site is the largest among hotels along a lake in Yangon City, and it is good for guests to take a cool walk in the morning/evening except for quarantined people. It has the lowest cost of accommodation among hotels along the lake, but since it is an old hotel, you can feel the signs of time, but it is not to the extent that you feel uncomfortable during your stay. The quality of breakfast/swimming pool/gym is not at the very high level of a luxury hotel, but considering the daily lodging cost of the hotel, it can be seen as good value for money. Amenity is offering an Australian brand called METIS. There is a bathtub in each room, so you can take a bath in the bathtub, but it is not recommended because Yangon's water quality is not good, but it is better to take a shower. If you want to relieve fatigue in the bathtub, it is better to prepare in advance so that you can cover the bad bathroom with a bath agent.
