I was compelled to select this hotel as the road way to the hotel i had booked was under water due to the inclement weather. The appearance was far better than most of the hotels i checked out which were accessible. The lunch which I ordered was a simple Sri Lankan Rice and curry with crabs was very expensive and the manager was adamant on the high price and was not willing to compromise. I could have paid a few more hundred rupees and had a fantastic buffet spread at Taprobane Restaurant - Cinnamon Grand, with crabs, prawns smoked salmon and lamb etc etc The toilet seat cover couldn't be placed down (room 11), the room door couldn't be closed it had to be shut hard, the hotel needs a lot of maintenance. Staff were not in uniform. We stayed there for less than 11 hours, our beds were unused and again the manager was not willing to compromise in charging half rate. He seized the opportunity being aware that I was desperate and depended solely on the hotel for the lunch for 16 persons and accommodation for 2. This is not a trait for those in the hospitality trade, business is a win win situation and not to be ripped off. Certainly NOT VALUE for money. We were the only guests in the hotel and offers could have been thrown in, given the highly priced room rates and meals. The service was good and nothing to complain about.

We were visiting Batticoloa to help the victims of the Easter attack at Zion Church. The hotel we originally were to stay was a dump. We came across Naval Beach Villa on trip Advisor and what a find it was! .This place is run by Mr Suresh an ex- banker and highly motivated person. We were given 5 star service. We even extended our stay to 3 nights . Nothing we asked was difficult for him, served us sumptuous breakfasts and even organized dinner for us. We bought crabs from the market and got it cooked . After a long day of work it was so refreshing to comeback to base. Lovely smiles and hospitality at its best. The beach is just round the corner and lagoon too. The place is clean and the garden is beautiful . We will go there again and recommend this place so strongly . The rates were very reasonable. The future of this place is bright !! Thank you Mr Sruresh and team for making our stay so memorable !!

2019 it's been the most emotionally and spiritually challenging phase of my 36 years of live. I spent most of the year suffering from debilitating anxiety, overwhelming depression and driven by fear. After a long and miserable year a relaxing week by the ocean was very much needed. I have travelled throughout the world staying exclusively at 5* hotels. And when I was researching where I should go for my healing holidays I had a certain expectations. I wanted a tent that was luxurious and privet and for everything outside my room ( like food, drink, facilities ) to be high quality and affordable. It might sounds like a lot to ask, but I promise Karpaha Sands ticks all these boxes. I knew the resort was going to be amazing from the reviews, but once I arrived it completely took my breath away. When you entering the Palam suite, you feel like you're in your own private paradise. All the tents are well spread out to ensure privacy. Included in your room will be delicious daily breakfast and complementary bottles of water. I stayed at Palam 5 with ocean view and it was my PURE PERFECTION. I could jump right into the ocean directly from the comfort of my room. My tent was spacious, had everything you could ever need, so I really wanted to stay there forever! From my bed I had the most incredible ocean view and I was surrounded by coconut trees. In the morning, the sun rose right in front of the tent so I just has to open the curtains to see phenomenal sunrise. Needless to say, the bathroom was every girls dream : huge, bright and with outdoor shower. Several small details around the villa showed that a lot of thoughtfulness had gone into not just providing comfort and luxury but also the warmth of personal touch. Don't come to Karpaha Sands expecting a party scene. This place has a relaxing pace of life and you are more likely to found yourself. For those looking for tranquility, this is the best choice. The only sounds were the waves and birds. Shanthi Ayurveda Spa The word of peace does not even begin to explain the state in which I come out of my " Head Over Heels " 5 Ayurveda treatments. I was able to balance my soul and body. Priyanka is simply the best. She is a bundle of joy and made me feel very welcomed and relaxed. Priyanka is very very knowledgeable and was able to tell me things about my body that amazed me. Such a smart, kind and honest lady. Karpaha Sands won me over with their heartfelt hospitality and warmth. Service was honest, genuine and with smile, that type of service that makes you want to come back. Sometimes, luxury is defined by the simplest of human values, empathy and care. My favourite time was definitely at sunrise as I could see both the sky changing colours and the reflections on the water. If there is any place I will gladly return again and again, it would be the Karpaha Sands, place where I found my serenity... The resort is wonderful and extremely well kept and well

This is a wonderful place to relax. We went for Valentine's day and we both enjoyed our stay. The staff was wonderful with good meals. The chef prepared a tasty seafood dinner with the romantic set up on the jetty. Few improvements needed especially with a hot-water shower (our room unit was under repair). I was able to charge my electric car by my room side which was one of my main requirements. Took an evening drive to the beach (15 min through the village). Beach needs cleaning, full of rubbish and plastics. A special thanks for Hyder (manager) and his wife who gave that human touch to our stay. This is a developing property so there are some shot-comings and you have to be prepared to adjust a bit. The natural pool was not ready but it didn't bother us.

Came across this place after a problem with a guest house nearby and we hit the jackpot. It's a lovely place , quite relaxed with cabins and rooms within a tree wooded area . Lovely helpful staff . It was very quiet when we got there but this suited us admirably . The room we had was clean and comfortable with Aircon and fan and a comfortable bed with a terrace/balcony with fan which overlooked the complex and lake. There is a swimming pool which at times we had to ourselves . In the restaurant freshly prepared good food was available at all times of the day . Well worth going / also only a short walk to the sandy beach and to the town across the bridge.
