I was travelling with a group from the Netherlands and we stayed one night in this hotel. The rooms are nice and clean, beds are comfortable and bathrooms rather modern. We were first told we would leave too early to get breakfast and would get breakfast boxes. But then they told us they will open te restaurant earlier for us to serve us (24 pax) a fresh breakfast and still we also got the boxes. I am not sure if the tour company had to pay extra for this, but the service was excellent and well appreciated.

Our tour company booked this hotel, and it is excellently positioned to see around the city. As I wrote in the title, there is nothing for tourists here - no leaflets about local attractions, the reception staff didn't even know about buses outside, only a small map of the city was available, which at least was free, but felt like a token gesture. Through our stay this felt much more like a hotel for business, as no one seemed able to answer questions about anything in Irkutsk, apart from taking a taxi to wherever ... Each floor was 'supervised' by a stern woman behind a desk, but ours was often talking to someone in her room or just not there. Our room was OK, but the air conditioning was faulty. We rang reception and they put us through to our floor supervisor, who said she was too busy to come to the room and suggested we open a window. She never appeared to see if we were OK. It seemed that where you had breakfast depended on which floor you were staying, so we ended up in a breakfast area of two small rooms forming some kind of bar, and it was packed all the time. The staff had trouble keeping tables cleared and had little idea about the food. The tray of fried eggs was empty for some time, and when it was replaced all the eggs were quite cold. Finally, our train was leaving in the evening so we asked to leave our baggage in the storeroom - a standard request. Yes for the only time in our 4-week holiday we were required to pay a storage fee!! It felt unfriendly

Just home after staying in this hotel for 7 nights while on a business trip. I was highly impressed with this hotel and it’s staff. Everyone spoke some level of English and most customer facing staff spoke it really well which helped immensely with my non existent level of Russian. The staff were welcoming, friendly and did everything they could to make my stay a really pleasant one. They allowed me to check in early after a long trip. The bar and restaurant staff all remembered my name and went out of their way to make sure I was well looked after. The food in the restaurant is amazing, all the dishes were really well presented. In the bar I can highly recommend the burger! The rooms were clean comfortable and functional, breakfast was a really nice buffet with fresh eggs on demand. If I ever return to Irkutsk this would be my hotel of choice. Thanks to all the staff for making this such a great place.

This hotel is well located and one can reach everything on foot. The staff is helpful, the rooms are reasonable, some of the staff speak English but everyone is friendly. The restaurant has a good food selection and we were surprised about our morning breakfast box as our train left very early ie the restaurant was not open. The hotel has an elevator which they added a couple of years earlier. The laundry service is fast and sufficient! I would stay at this hotel any time!

Very disappointed in both, the hotel and their restaurant, where I had breakfast. First, the hotel...I have to mention that I only stayed one night there and moved to another hotel as soon as I could. It appears the hotel is new, and it’s still clean enough. Yet, the neighborhood is a bit sketchy and not so clean. I requested a very quiet room and was granted one, or so they said. The room on the 7th floor was not at all quiet. There is simply no sound proof concept in the hotel. Walls are so thin, I could hear neighbors caught at 2 in the morning. Windows are also cheap - I was listening to a dog barking from the outside the entire night. And this is on the 7th floor! What would have it been on the 2nd? Now, the size of the room was ridiculously small, even for one person. I could barely walk around the beds. And beds are sooooooo narrow. Just so you know - there two tiny beds and they do not combine them into one normal bed for one person stay, like in all other hotels I stayed (I stayed in many). I do not know how I did not fell off that narrow bed! Why not to combine the tiny beds into one?! - too lazy? Lastly, the breakfast. I do not like buffet breakfast and waited till 10 am when I could order from a la cart menu. Coffee was ok, but the salmon sandwich was just inedible - it had fish scales inside of the sandwich and pieces of salmon skin that I could not shew. I asked for the manager to show her the sandwich masterpiece:( she was sensible and promised to speak to the chief about the food preparation. Well, if this was a chip hotel, I would have said, ok. But by Irkutsk standard, it’s not a cheap hotel, they should at least be able to remove fish scales from the sandwich and combine tiny beds into one for a single person occupancy.

Very nice hotel, really. We stayed there overnight twice - on our way to Baikal and on our way back. A solid four-star facility - quick check-in, swift reaction to guests' requests, great lavish breakfast (never mind if you forgot to structure your menue in advance - they'll fetch your order fast anyhow), comfortable beds. But our feeling was that Mr Shigeo Nakamura, its Japanese designer sometimes somewhat overdid it. A prime disadvantage was sharp bed corners. We bumped them many times and even had to place our suitcases by to avoid injuring our legs at night in the darkness. Sooner or later the team will face (if not has already faced) a big problem with a bleeding or bruised guest or, worse, with his or her kid who has run into these stinging thingies and then there'll be hell to pay. Another pain in the ... shall I say neck? was a toilet bowl - though some people might treat it as a funny gizmo. It resembles a jet fighter dashboard so be cautious to sit upon it - a wrong button pressed and people might find you somewhere in Tokyo. A third snag was in-room air-conditioning. Both times it refused to function and in both cases a girl at the reception - but not us - started it. So it's either starting to malfunction or had something wrong with it from the very start. Such stuff often happens with smart houses. Summing up - keep it simple, Shigeo buddy! But with exception of these minor nuisances I'd definitively recommend the place. Just try to avoid beds' corners.

We arrived on the Trans- Siberian from Yekaterinberg at 10.30pm at night with information from this hostel, that if we were coming by taxi to make sure we paid NO MORE than 250 roubles for the journey from the station, and to have the CORRECT change ready. Luckily, we were forewarned. We found lots of taxis waiting (all ready to pounce on unsuspecting tourists!!!!) First, we arrived at a very dark address, which I knew, right from the start was NOT in the right direction of the hostel, as I’d been to Irkutsk before. We then insisted the driver find the correct address and stayed put. After some time and driving round and round in circles he FINALLY brought us to the front door. (I have no hesitation in believing he knew exactly where we wanted to go, as Irkutsk is not Moscow and the drivers know well, their way around this town and especially when we were on a main street) I’m ALWAYS sus about taxi drivers, so we got our luggage out of the boot and were at the front door of the hostel before I paid him. He requested 4500 roubles!!!!!!!! And was hugely irate when we went inside, and then paid just 250 roubles (being the correct fare) After 10 minutes, the hostel receptionist had to go into the courtyard and remind the driver that he was on their surveillance camera before he would leave. It was quite frightening for 2 gals so late at night to have to go through this on arrival, with a taxi driver swearing at the top of his voice and banging on the door, but the practice IS widespread in Irkutsk sadly right now. I have no hesitation either in believing the driver would have been violent with us, had we have not been so far inside the building when we paid him. The Hostel were pleased we had not been ripped off, and are WARNING everybody that this practice is rife and supported by the local police. The hostel had NOT had anyone arrive in the week we arrived, who had not been caught in the sting!!!!!!! BE FOREWARNED AND DO AS WE DID FOR SAFETY. We booked a private room at Z with private facilities during our stay and it felt just like home. The room, with 2 double beds was fresh and clean with an open window, crisp white linen, duvets and fluffy pillows. The bathroom was spotless. It was wonderful to be able to catch up on our laundry after weeks of travelling. The washing machine and dryer were well received. All receptionists were charming and helpful with our trip planning. Our special thanks to Helen who could not have done more for us. The kitchen and common room was packed every day with lots of travellers (the place was full) and there was a good vibe nightly as everyone congregated around the TV to watch the World Cup. The kitchen facilities were well laid out with a full cupboard of utensils and there was always someone cooking up a feast night or day. We didn’t eat in, but found the best restaurants of our trip up and down Karl Marx Street 5 minutes from home with Helens help. Our particular favourite was Antrecot and the

A lot as it happens, if your like e you’ve read the reviews, your stunned when you see it The word boutique hotel is small, the rooms nice, the beds comfy, and u have your own bathroom, tea coffee in the room, u go outside the room there’s hot water,my room wasn’t made for 2 days, the first i was shocked, the second seathing, its more honest to say limited cleaning The girls at reception all speak english, and very helpful.it does not have a lift,it has stairs, a lot of them, you then press a buzzer to b let in,the Restraunt is downstairs, more stairs, but its very authentic, and the Restraunt is spiral only to guests staying there, between certain times, then open to the public, its the area however, very unsuitable, not safe at all, after 6pm, disgusting area ,people(men loitering about),and what r they doing at 2am?I dont want to know!!! On the plus side its not far from st petersburg, but didnt feel safe the cottage cheeses pancakes were yummy

I checked into this hotel for 2 nights after spending the previous 5 nights camping at Lake Baikal. Check in was easy (I had a reservation) and the check in agent was very friendly and helpful. My room had twin beds, which I didn’t mind, because the bed was comfortable and the sheets were clean. The room was very nice, though there was no coffee maker, writing paper or pen (I’m used to those being standard but their absence wasn’t a problem for me). The bathroom was nice and clean, and shampoo, shower gel, soap and shower cap were provided, as well as disposable slippers. Breakfast was included in my booking and I had no complaints about that either. There was adequate variety to satisfy anyone, in my opinion. I also used room service (after 6 days of hiking I didn’t feel like walking even 5 steps away from the hotel to find food) and was pleased with the prompt delivery of my meal. The shop assistants in the lobby shops were also very nice, helpful and friendly. The only down note for me was that my flight was leaving late in the evening (then it was delayed for a few more hours) and I wasn’t able to get late checkout or even to pay for a room for the extra hours (I was told that there were no available rooms to accommodate this). Still, the staff kindly allowed me to leave my bag in the baggage room and I hung around the lobby for the hours until it was time to go to the airport, using the cafe and facilities there. Overall, I had a very positive experience at this hotel and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

The hotel is not in the city centre, but close to the airport, 5-7 minutes by car, the reason why I chose it. The hotel looks new. The room is small, but all necessary was in it, even a tea kettle but no tea bags. Comfortable bed, good shower. I was given a bottle of water at check in. Wifi worked very well, but to connect it is necessary to have a Russian telephone number. I did not and asked the receptionist, she used her phone number to get a code by SMS for me. Check in, check out was quick. Efficient and welcoming staff. It was a good place for a night stay before my morning flight.

Hotel location is very good, go out is the commercial street, next to the Holy Cross Cathedral, go out to the north and follow the green line all the way, the service staff is fluent in English, the communication is smooth, the morning flight, check out the luggage and go out for a day, ten Point the mall back to the hotel, let the front desk help to get to the airport, 220 rubles. The room in the twin bed is very comfortable, that is, the bed is not too big, it is one meter. With the baby, I can put it together to sleep. When I check in, I have a menu to choose the food and meal time in advance. I can report the room number in the past. The restaurant is very furnished. Warm. (Heart tear reminder: When you store your luggage, remember to take out the hot things like chocolate. The luggage in the storage area is attached to the radiator. When you come back, you will not be able to sell it. You will be able to go back to it in ten minutes. ), this area is completely aimed at Chinese tourists. Many restaurants in the commercial street have Chinese menus. Of course, if you want to find a more cost-effective authentic restaurant, you can go far and explore for yourself.
