I stayed here for several days and had a fairly good time. At reception I was asked to pay for my online Expedia reservation in cash even though the website listing said they accepted credit card. It was a distressing interaction as I pleaded to use my credit card because the cash that I had was reserved for other things and I had no easy or cheap way to withdraw more cash.In the end they allowed me to put the entire stay on my credit card. Anyways, here's a pro/con list for you. PROS: - Decently priced - Close to public transportation (Nippori JR station) - Very close to restaurants and supermarkets - Friendly staff that speak a variety of languages - Very clean- with an army of staff doing a full clean of the space every morning (I think this is a little too much, you could scale it back to every other day). - An abundance of showers and toilets- I never once had to wait for something. - Free coffee/tea/water/apple juice in the lobby (they have a dispenser machine that does it all). CONS: - Don't expect to do any cooking here. There is only a microwave and a small fridge with very little counter space to do anything. The microwave is intended to heat up pre-made meals purchased outside. - The mid-day and 1am closure of the lounge/common area isn't helpful - especially if you need to have a voice conversation with someone in a different time zone in the middle of the night. - If you're at all worried about animal rights then it might be difficult to see their pet owl in the lobby corner. - Even though its close to public transportation, it is somewhat on the edge of things, so you'll need to either walk 30-60 minutes to some attractions or take the metro/JR. - Wifi in the lobby wasn't very strong To conclude, I think the pros outweigh the cons and you'll have a pretty good stay here.

I picked this hotel purely because of the location and the price. Right next to the Nippori station. You'll have to find the right door and go to 3rd floor by elevator to reach the reception. Staff was nice and tried their best to communicate, even though their English was not good. I got to leave my luggage there supervised for a couple of hours, as I arrived before I could get to my room. I got a smoking room (I don't smoke inside but didn't have a choice about the room when booking via a third party) and the smell was horrible, but I knew beforehand that would be the case, and fortunately there was fabric freshening spray which really helped. I didn't expect best quality when I didn't pay a whole lot, and I think I got what I paid for. A safe, clean place to rest between exploring the city. The room had basic cleanliness, but clearly everything was somewhat old and a bit worn out. There were nice restaurants near this hotel, and the Yanaka Ginza street, old cemetary and Fabric town are just a couple of steps away. The best thing about this hotel is the location next to the station. The Yamanote line stops in Nippori and takes you for example to Ueno, Tokyo station, Shibuya and Harajuku quickly. Unfortunately the best thing about the hotel was also the worst. My room's window was facing the station (no view whatsoever, just a grey wall) and I could clearly hear all the noises. The trains don't bother me one bit, but all the other noise, such as announcements, jingles (yes... the trains have jingles) and warning tones were super loud and disruptive. It went on until 12 at night and started again at 5 am. I had ear plugs with me but didn't sleep too well with them, because I usually don't wear them at night. But to be able to get some sleep they were absolutely necessary. So bring them if you're staying in this hotel and I really mean it. Overall, not a stylish place, but functional. Wouldn't stay here again though, because of the station being so loud.

The hotel is very big and the lobby is very big and new. It can be called a four-star hotel. The location is also very good. The surrounding business is developed. The main thing is that it is only 200 meters away from the Nippori Station. The Narita Airport can be used for 35 minutes by スカエライナー (天快线). The Yamanote Line and the Beijing Line also have docks and the rooms are very new and very good.

This was probably the cleanest hotel I’ve stayed at. The location was excellent because it’s right next to the Nippori station for easy access to the airport train and the main train lines for the city. Most popular attractions are within a half hour commute and the neighborhood is way less crowded than some of the popular areas which is nice. The room was bigger than I expected it to be. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom had everything we could possibly need including full size bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. For the price, this hotel exceeded our expectations. The one thing that should be noted/expected: since the hotel is so close to a transportation hub, you will hear the trains - after one night, we just got used to it tho. Overall, I’m very happy with our choice.

While they style themselves as “hostel“ and there are indeed dormitory rooms available, Wagokoro is actually a fully featured hotel. Everything you expect from a hotel is there and much more – 24 hour reception, ensuite bathroom and even common kitchen/dining room. The hotel is nice a mix of traditional Japanese ryokan and modern hotel. We especially liked that you have to remove footwear and use provided slippers when you enter the lobby. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Though official check-in time is 3p.m. our room was ready as early as 12:30 p.m. – very welcoming after long flight and jetlag. Even if some of the hotel staff don’t speak English well we encountered absolutely no language barrier. Japanese hospitality is what you really get here. Our room for 3 (western style) was a bit small but that’s expected from Japanese hotels. Bathroom was also very small but it even contained a bathtub! Spotlessly clean. Wi-Fi connection was very fast and stable. Some may find beds and pillows hard but again, that’s Japanese way. Wagokoro is situated in a quiet neighborhood, there are all usual 24/7 conbini just around the corner and a lot of restaurants near train station. Nippori station is just 5 minutes walk (or 410Y taxi ride if it’s raining or you need to haul heavy luggage). The station is directly connected to Narita airport – Skyliner is faster and sometimes cheaper than NEX train. Yanaka cemetery and Arakawa tram are in short walking distance. I must say that Wagokoro provided best value for money from all hotels we used during our two weeks trip in Japan.

My friend and I stayed overnight here for our cross-Tokyo jaunt to Nippori Fabric Town. Our rooms were clean and comfy, and available several hours ahead of check-in (a pleasant surprise). The staff is very friendly, and the in-room fridges and microwaves are perfect for snacks and dinners from the local conbini (there are also on-site vending machines). A perfect little place for crafters and sewists making a visit to Nippori! The hotel is a quick two-block walk from Nippori Station, and one block away from the main street of fabric shops.

I chose this hotel as it was almost half the price of other Tokyo hotels of the same standard and I am reasonably happy with the standard of the room. I loved the screened off area in my room where you can leave shoes as per Japanese custom. There are many convenience stores including 7Eleven and restaurants across the road as well as around the hotel as well as the Mikawashima Railway station which connects you via 1 stop ( Nippori ) to Narita Airport terminals 1 and 2. Just catch the JR ( Japan Railways ) Joban Line to Nippori and then get the Keisei Skyliner to Narita Aiport v.v. The hotel staff use Google Translate to talk and offer the bare minimum service which is not mentioned on the agent's site. However, issues that the hotel needs to address in order to remain competitive are as follows ; Tesheras checked me in ,late in the evening of 17th March 2018 and summarised on his screen that my stay is for 4 nights I fell asleep around 2300pm. I was awoken at 0930am the next morning by 4 loud knocks on the door. Tesharas had his mobile with him and via Google Translate was telling me that I needed to have my room cleaned as checkout is at 10am ? I reminded him I requested a quiet room at the time of reservation and again at check in - for the first night I arrived late so didn't notice the noise, the second night I slept all day as I was exhausted from a previous trip and was annoyed by the noise and the loud air conditioning ( later found a switch to switch it off ! ) On the morning of day 3 I had found the noise of the street unbearable ; people's conversations in the street, cars, trains at the train station across the road could all be heard clearly due to the very thin and non enforced windows. The room was changed to a Western room whose toilet had a urine stain in the middle front area. Unbelievably, there is no safe, wardrobe or Iron - definately not somewhere you can leave valuables or check out from and head straight to an event/the airport with ironed clothing etc. I left my valuables in my locked suitcase. Great if you want a Ryokan style room with private bathroom ( which Ryokans don't offer ) but again, the bare minimum service is offered. No breakfast or meal facilities are available although a hospitality tray is available as well as complimentary bottled water and free decorative room slippers and a gown as well as luxury toiletries ( large bottles which are refilled ).

Breakfast did not eat, but it is worthwhile to count down, 400 yen for one person to self-help, a sandwich is about 250 yen, the breakfast here is bread and coffee buffet. The ramen is quite delicious near the hotel. It is lighter than a ramen noodles, like ramen noodles 780, dumplings 380. The street next door to the hotel is a bistro, all in one street. And the basics of staying in the hotel are all foreigners... I don’t know if it’s a public bathroom washroom before, I don’t provide toiletries, I need to bring my own supplies, it’s not convenient, the room doesn’t have TV, others are not bad.

We've stayed at Annex Katsutaro on our every visit to Tokyo since the early 2000s. What keeps us coming back? First, the warm and friendly welcome from the managers and staff, who always make their foreign guests feel at home. Second, the superb location in the heart of the old working-class district, near traditional local shops and restaurants, yet just a short train or bus ride from historic Ueno and downtown Tokyo. Third, the excellent value for money - AirBnB may be cheaper but we think this is better value. The only thing some people might see as a drawback is that all the bedrooms are Japanese style, with futons to sleep on and floor cushion to sit on. But if you're still flexible enough to get up and down easily, it's closer to the traditional Japanese lifestyle. There are plenty of Western hotels in Tokyo, but we prefer Annex Katsutaro. Only please don't all book at once, because then they may not have a room for us on our next trip!

If you loves omakase breakfast at Toyosu market, shopping at Venus Fort, Diver City, Aqua City, visiting the TeamLab Borderless and TeamLab Planets, and hot-spring at Ooedo Onsen, that's the perfect location. Even gives you quick access to Disney resort and Haneda Airport! Small rooms as usual but the one with twin double beds is excellent for parents with two young children. The only downside is no car-rental nearby.

Check in was a breeze, efficient and high tech. Godzilla head is an interesting feature of the hotel (esp. for fans), and location is great, right in the middle of the happening area. room size is good, can even be bigger if the toilet is joined with the bathing area. can bring the 2 single beds together to form a large bed.

Suidobashi/Tokyo Dome
Their service is nothing short of excellent. They have staff who are fluent in English (and other languages as well, I suspect). Me and my friend came thinking that we would be staying in a Single Room with Extra Bed since that was what we booked as we attempted to be more economic. However, to our pleasant surprise, our room was upgraded to a much much bigger room for free. We are very thankful to the helpful staff for making our stay pleasant and extremely comfortable. The location is great as it in located somewhere in between Iidabashi and Suidobashi which is pretty much close to the geographical center of Tokyo. Head east you will be able to visit Akihabara and Asakusa quick. Head west, you will be able to hit Shinjuku, Harajuku, and Shibuya. The neighbourhood is fairly quiet and the Tokyo Dome is just a 10-15 minute stroll away. If I am coming back to visit Japan, this hotel will be a clear top choice for me. Haven't had the opportunity to have the breakfast at this hotel, but I will certainly try it out on my next stay here.

Location is perfect, in the heart of shopping district Shinjuku. It's also walking distance from Shinjuku station. Economy double room is very small for two people. The plus point is the Airport Limousine Bus counter is just right at the hotel lobby and the hotel is one of the stop for the airport limousine. Overall is very good. Will come back here again if we travel to Tokyo.

Shinjuku
Great location. Nice places to eat all around. And a market with Sega machines and video games. Lots of convenience stores and cafes. 7 Eleven, Lawson, etc. We are vegetarian and found an authentic Indian restaurant on way to station from hotel. Hotel has shops and restaurants on Ground Floor (called 1F) ie. Family Mart - great for instant food packs etc VERY difficult to locate Reception/ Check-in Counter. Come to the THIRD Floor (3F) and you'll find it! Very secure. Use your hotel key in the lift to go up to your floor. Very small rooms at the hotel - Take one with TWO SINGLE BEDS - then bed size is very decent for 100 kilo women!! Rooms have TV, lots of ports to charge phones etc. Fridge. Electric kettle. Bathrobes. Slippers n shoe horn - See pictures... VERY LITTLE space for bags. Loos are amazing. Electronic pots etc. BEWARE - getting tub is very high - So buy a small ¥400 foldable footstool to step in and out - buy from shop called Daisu in underground passage to station. CARRY your own TEA (Chai) if you are used to it. Only green tea and coffee in room. No milk provided in the room either. So if you took the room with free breakfast, that's good - You can pick up milk and sugar sachets there. See instructions for coffee carefully. Its not simply a sachet. Water has to pass THROUGH it. Response to room service usually VERY prompt 5 restaurant choices for free breakfast (if you took that choice) of which 2 are American and can serve you vegetarian choices. See pictures attached for the Manhattan restaurant view! Very hearty breakfasts! 2 bottles of mineral water provided daily. All linen is changed daily, EXCEPT for bedding. Most staff understand English - else use Google Translate. If you choose to reach this hotel from the airport via Shinkansen, reach Shinjuku JR station, ask where the cab stand is, expect to pay approx ¥650. If you choose to walk with luggage, then take a 4-wheel medium sized suitcase each at the most. 2 choices - walk straight out of South Exit and cross road just once 10 minutes later. OR use the underground path for easier movement of luggage, and walk about 15-20 minutes (if with luggage) towards Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building - plus may have to climb one small flight of stairs in final stretch.
