Loved the Retro room. I like the extra sink outside of the bathroom. Room and bathroom were a good size. Hardwood floors. Bed was comfortable and lots of pillows with different softness/hardness. We were on the second floor Room 206. Yes there is a pot smell in the hallways its the guests fault for smoking in their rooms. Yes people were slamming doors, also the guests fault. We always make sure we close our door quietly. That is not the managements fault. We ate at the Coppersmith Tavern attached to the Hotel, you can get to the restaurant through the Hotel. This Hotel was a very good price.

Love the room, the pool and spa, the friendly people, the easy access to Portland, but more than anything I loved that my room came with a full-on massage chair. I never wanted to leave. Best stay I've had in a hotel room in a very long time.

While I realize there is a pandemic, this is the first time I have stayed at a hotel since the pandemic began and I was quite surprised and not in a good way. I realized there would be no hot buffet but the bagged breakfast could have been a bit more satisfying. But my biggest complaint concerns the lack of cleanliness. They do not service the rooms but they also make no allowances for the collection of garbage or used linens. Fortunately, we only stayed two nights but I could see this presenting quite a problem for a larger family. I was extremely disappointed. However, all interactions with the staff were quite positive and they were always helpful.

This is my second time back at this property. My husband and I visit Portland a few times a year for long weekends. We arrived late Friday night and checked in quickly by, I believe his name was Michael. Room was very clean and well taken care of (room 102) I probably would not pick this room again as it was close to the side entrance/exit where guests (with room key) could enter anytime which was loud. This is not a normal hotel suite, No closets which some old school folks may not like the set up of, but it works for us. Everything in the room is very functional and the bathroom is plenty big. Breakfast is always very good and plentiful for it being complimentary. Stations were always full/clean. My only complaint, and this has NOTHING to do with the hotel--Across the hall from us were 2 rooms of young girls. They looked maybe 18/21 ish and they had a habit of opening the doors and letting them fall shut on its own 10-12 times in a 2 minute span. And having full on conversations outside out door, which at 6am or midnight when we are sound asleep was not so great. Along with vacations for us parents, we like to have a good nights sleep. I brought it to the attention of Derrick and Joe and they said they would speak to the girls. It happened 2 nights in a row probably at that point these girls were just trying to spite us lol. But Derrick and Joe really did all they could. Like I said, you never know who your hotel guests can be and it could have seriously happened anywhere. Of course, we will be back as we love this hotel. It is so close to shops, downtown, and easy on/off the highway.

So, I had a complicated travel itinerary that included two stays at this hotel with a three-week gap in between. My husband and I needed to leave clothes for a wedding at the front desk for those three weeks. Because I have a few neurotic tendencies, I think the entire front-desk staff was aware of this plan, but Sara, with whom we checked in during the dead of night for each of our two stays, was particularly wonderful to work with. She was so kind and friendly and reimbursed for us cab fare, since the airport shuttle stopped running around 1 a.m. She also gave us a late checkout the next day, which was incredibly helpful. I'd highly recommend staying here if you need a super comfortable, super friendly place to crash upon arriving in Portland. If you're in town for a wedding, as we were, it could make sense to spend the night of your arrival here, then stay closer to downtown or wherever the event is on the actual night of. It could also be used as a comfy base before starting or after finishing some sort of outdoor adventure, as well.

I live only 15 miles away, but just stayed here for three nights while I was working down the road for a few days and needed to be at work before sunrise each morning. Located in the Maine Mall area of South Portland. About seven minutes to PWM Airport. Ten minutes from downtown Portland. And 15 minutes from Old Orchard Beach. This is primarily a business hotel, but would also be good for leisure travel to Portland if you don’t want to pay more to stay downtown. Or, if you don’t want to pay for parking while staying downtown where it will be required at any hotel. Located in a quiet business park, there are many fast food, casual chains and casual local eateries in close proximity. As well as many strip malls and any kind of general shopping needs you might have. A large shopping mall -The Maine Mall, largest shopping mall in the state- is just a few blocks down the street. The hotel is about 10-12 years old, but was updated recently. (There’s a surprising lack of updated room photos on the reviews here.) Our Single King, 1 bedroom suite, Rm 202, was up to date, very clean and well maintained. Not showing any wear and tear. Clean carpets. Comfortable bed. Kitchenette with full sized refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove cooktop. They also have a full sized guest-use propane BBQ grill on the back patio as well. Same can be said of all public area. Very Clean, modern and a solid Homewood Suites property. Unfortunately, the evening reception and food service was unavailable due to COVOID. Breakfast was downgraded to a bagged breakfast to go. The breakfast buffet would have been nice, but not having it was no big deal for me. Reduced services were expected. However, to my surprise, the pool and hot tub were open. Reservation was required for a block of time. It nice having it to myself and my girlfriend for our forty five minute block after cooking dinner in our own room. Also, as a smoker, the property was welcoming, with quick side door access from my room without having to go down the corridor, waiting for the elevator, and then out through the lobby each time I went out. It took about 15 seconds to get outside. (And, they don’t force you to retreat two miles from the door, as some non-smoking properties do.)There were cigarette buckets placed outside all the side doors, and even in the back courtyard patio. Of course, the inside is completely smoke free. I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again if I needed a decent hotel in South Portland’s Maine Mall/Airport area’s.

Building is unique and close to shopping, restaurants, and highway. Pool is lovely and not too deep which is great for little kids. Staff was beyond kind. I was their from MA so I’d have less stress on the morning of my father’s burial. I was understandably in grief and every gesture and greeting felt genuine from the staff who didn’t even know until the end. Wonderful people work here.

A multi-faceted mission within our home state required an overnight stay in South Portland. Home2Suites fit our current criteria with its location and amenities. The kitchenette and versatile furnishings allowed us to bring our own food and beverages and avoid restaurant crowds. My husband and I found the staff caring and the room well-cleaned and thoughtfully designed. It's not a dream trip hotel or site, but fulfilled our needs of the moment entirely. We've already made a reservation for the next time we require accommodations in the area.

Years ago I praised Embassy Suites. I have a 5-star review from the past proving it. My wife and I loved our traditional anniversary dinner at the Cafe Stroudwater (now Waypoint). I had a pretty rough stay early this month. We had a gross room which was embarrassing considering the health concerns brought on by COVID-19. The bathroom was not clean, and immediately I lost faith in the hotel having clean rooms. I brought my concerns up at check-out. I shared my number and was told I would be contacted later (strike 1 - should have addressed that concern immediately, especially if it's cleanliness!), I never heard back and sent information to Hilton corporate. Without the Embassy Suites being involved, we finally reached a resolution of a full refund because of the headache of back & forth conversations on what should have been a simple "I'm sorry, here's how we can make it right -" I would have ended it there until I saw the bragging on Facebook about their rooms and how they take cleanliness seriously, I groaned and dropped a photo of what my room's condition was, both dirty and broken. One of the PR staff, Kyle, mentioned that Hilton "took care of it". In a second email, Kyle then accused me of lying about timelines of how long I have been waiting for a resolution. It's 9/30 and I still don't have my refund in hand, it has been a month and I'm still sitting here for a resolution for this garbage stay. Kyle, it's not Hilton's job to take care of this, it's your job. It's your manager's job. They blamed it on having outdated contact information - correct contact information was provided to both the staff at checkout and Hilton's corporate line (who, by the way, were able to get in touch with me just fine.) The Embassy Suites is not like it used to be in Portland. This location is poor, and that's heartbreaking for what used to be my wife's favorite spot. Crappy management putting customers in danger with unsanitary rooms, and then getting defensive and argumentative instead of a simple apology for when they screw up. Embarrassing - I won't be caught here again. For those looking for a recommendation - try the new Home2Suites (much cheaper, full kitchen and more amenities). As to the staff here, it's time to go back to class and learn how to catch long-time customers before they go elsewhere.

We were heading home during the outbreak of COVID-19 after staying in South Carolina for a month. We had stayed here at Sable Oaks on our journey south before the world pandemic. This a great property and we have frequented for many years. We have always found the hotel to be a wonderful respite from the travails of travel. When we pulled up to Reception entrance, we knew this was not going to be a normal experience. Jason at reception remembered us and was genuinely glad to see us. Other than a few long-term guests, we were pretty much alone in the hotel. Room service wasn’t available because of COVID concerns, but they did have special meals to go menu. Mary was our hostess and after some pleasant banter, she revealed that she was a member of the Sable Oaks Management Team. She told me she wasn’t able to share my tip so I made a more generous one in the hopes that those staff still on site would benefit during these crazy days. Our room was spacious and the bed was oh so comfy. Getting up to get back on the road was not easy, as we both would have preferred to linger. Kudos to the staff for making us feel at home during these unprecedented times. Thank you for remaining open so that our journey home was less stressful.
