Papirfabrikken is without a doubt the best hotel in Silkeborg. It is a modern hotel with modern rooms. The standard rooms are quite small but the business rooms are very good. The bathrooms almost all suffer from a bathtub with a shower instead of a shower cubicle but overall the rooms are nice. The breakfast selection is large and attractive and overall this is a very nice business hotel but not really a place you would go for a family holiday.

Hotel Dania is well located right at the center of Silkeborg next to the old City Hall (now a very good tapas place) and walking distance from the historic baths. Service is good - the team contacted me in advance about my check-in time, and then let me check in a couple of hours early - and the breakfast buffet is extensive. (I would have liked some maple syrup for my pancakes, however.) The hotel is historic in every sense of the word - an 1848 building with traditional furniture, traditional dishes in the restaurant, and even staff that seems to be made up largely of mature people. My small room had an up-to-date bathroom with good water pressure and was very clean, but had old-fashioned electrical outlets that had to be turned on and off with a switch. It was quiet and bed quality was good. Bottom line: this is a historic hotel, but not a trendy historic hotel. If those are your expectations, you'll have a good night's stay, as I did.

This is a modern hotel set within an old country house/mansion which was at one time a sanatorium. Our room was comfortable - with a very comfy large bed. There was also a small balcony, large enough to sit out on, with garden seats provided. The wildlife and sculptures gave plenty to look at. We did wonder at the fly swat hanging on the back of the door, but given the proximity to the woods and lakes, no doubt there can be a need for it. Only one wasp ventured into our room and soon found its way out again. The hotel is situated close to the main road (Route 52) on the edge of Silkeborg, so you either need to use the (free) bikes, have a car or use the bus to get anywhere. Silkeborg itself has a picturesque centre on a large (long) lake and the town is well-positioned for days out by car to Aarhus, the west coast, the north of Jutland and of course the real Legoland. Breakfast buffet was excellent with a wide choice of fruit, imaginative home-made bread, cold meat, cheese, cereals, yoghurts, eggs, bacon and pancakes. We were slightly disappointed there was not more choice of food available in the evenings, although the quality of the sandwiches in the lounge and the very upmarket food in the restaurant was all excellent. All-in-all, wish we could have stayed longer.

Vejlsøhus is located so beautifully between forest and Lake. The staff are welcoming - at least the few that I saw. Annonced my late arrivel to the receptionist before the start if the stay - and was told that the reception would be open until 6 p.m. I arrived at 17.30 in rain, debris and darkness. Impressive, the place looked from the car - so big and beautiful. My joy dropped slightly as I made my way to the entrance. An envelope was pasted with tape on the door to the hotel, on which my name was written in capital letters. Get off the tape, open the envelope - and there in the dark - whitout an eye - I would have to figure out how to get in. I succeeded - and inside the hotel I could read through information and to do quietly. Into the elevator and up to the fourth floor - all alone - without meeting a human being and without hearing a single sound. It is problably the most empty and sad meeting I have ever had with a hotel. Food and drink for the evening I had in my suitcase - the kitchen was not open this Saturday evening. The room was fine and mega hot. In the washbasin were leftover toothpaste from previous guest. Breakfast buffet was okay and space was reserved at the buffet with name. Definitely a beautiful place - it’s just not a place I will visit again. The best thoughts for Vejlsøhus from me.

For me, Scandic Silkeborg was a really good choice of hotel - and I had also been highly recommended. The hotel is centrally located and beautiful and easy to find. The foyer exudes comfort and I was greeted by a really sweet and positive receptionist who happily told about all the hotel’s facilities without being to pushy. I got a nice room in street lever and the room was really well tempered - absolutely fantastic, it doesn’t happen often. Either the room are too warm or too cold - but not here. It was so comfortable. The hotel offers a great atmosphere - and their breakfast buffet is really delicious and inviting. It was such a nice visit that I joined Scandic Friend - and I will visit the hotel again and again for next year’s time. The hotel gets my best recommendation.

A quirky experience of rural Denmark in the 1930’s. Accommodated in a double room with river view on 1st floor, a bit dusty but cosy and full of antique furniture, lamps and loads of trinkets. Tiny, basic bathroom. Bed OK, not particularly comfortable. Dinner: The local speciality ”Pramdragergryde” very tasty and well prepared, served in the very cosy restaurant with a unique atmosphere. Breakfast basic. All in all: Medium comfort but 4 stars for the adventure.

My family and I went out, for what we thought would be a wonderful evening with great food.but that was not the case. First of all the place was so dirty. After ordering drinks and food we sat for 40 minuets before our drinks came. We waited an hour and a half for our starter and the kids didn’t get their food, until to hours in to the stay. The food was flavorless, cold and not worth to eat and really bad service Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place.
