Great time. The pool was open and we could walk across the street to the beach. The lifeguards were there and maybe six other people. The island had not issued travel restrictions yet. Everything at the hotel was good. We went for one night and stayed three until we were told hotel was closing. Maybe a blessing because we would still be there.

Here me out. I am insanely particular about hotels. In this case it's a motel. We pulled up and I lost my mind. I told my husband (who planned it all), all that is missing is an hourly rate sign. Nope! Of course he got mad but persuaded me to try. Seriously last month we went to Vegas and stayed in a fountain view room at Bellagio.... THAT'S THE KIND OF HOTEL GIRL I AM. I absolutely loved the location of Gaidos. Then when we checked in and walked by the pool and pool bar, I started to change my feel a bit. Check in was easy and the staff were super friendly. The room.... the room was a big surprise. The building is dated but the rooms renovated nicely. The breakfast was great, seriously, hot food and the breakfast staff were wonderful. The pool bar was great, inexpensive and the pool wonderful. I honestly just cannot say enough great about this motel service, pool, food, and bar. The clientele was equivalent to that of Walmart, but just look past it. The beds to me were comfortable. A microwave, hairdryer, 2 complementary bottles of water in the FRIDGE! Yes a fridge. Just a pleasantly surprising hidden gem. I survived! These folks are doing it right!

What can I say, plenty, for only $59 a night to stay and no extra charge for our small dog. This hotel ROCKS!! We stayed in a beautiful room with a king size bed on the second floor. Where to begin, this place was well lighted ,5 LED lights in sleeping area ,easy to use A/C that blew freezing cold air all night long. I counted 11 electrical outlets,2 with USB ports, a small size fridge that was on and cold,35 degrees and small microwave but cleaned, inside, nice size small coffee maker with 3 different types of coffee,an Iron with Ironing board and a decent size bathroom with a nice shower head ,with plenty of hot water, that came quickly! Bathroom also had a blow dryer, soap and a Ice Bucket with 4 plastic cups The TV looked bigger than it was and had lots of channels and a cleaned remote The pool was very nice and clean, and outside,we chose not to use it ,because we were always busy, doing something. If you ever down in Galveston and need a nice place to stay ,that’s under $100 ,due yourself a favor and stay here!

I am an IHG member, and we have stayed at other IHG locations for prior trips to Galveston. But this will be our new favorite. The hotel was more affordable, in a great location, plus it was super clean and did not have that beach-front mildewy feel to it. There is a nice parking garage behind the hotel, of course for a fee. Our room was very roomy, which was a definite plus for a family of four. That is probably the best advantage for this location. Front desk staff was nice as well.

Never stay in this raggedy ass motel it was almost $400 for 2 nights plus a $50 deposit. We booked before we got there when we seen it we wanted to find a different one and couldn't get our money back for at least 3 days when it would be released back to the card. I went to the store came back and there was no parking I had to park at a bar and walk back to my room. The ceilings are falling in the stucco on the walls is falling off there was a hole in my wall home made breaker box in my room. There was no hot water the wifi doesn't work the fan cover in the bathroom is falling off the ceiling the bar was bumping bass in my room all night long car alarms going off at 3 in the morning for 15 minutes the tweakers were slamming doors all night and even knocked a window out of the "motel" (as they call it I call it a disease waiting to happen).should be condemned. His best hope is a hurricane blows that piece of junk meth shack rat motel down in the sand.

So we decided to visit on a whim without any plans to be in Galveston. We wanted near the beach and we just needed a bed to sleep on. All those things Knights Inn did 100%. The place is older but it was sufficiently clean to know that people cared. It is literally across the sidewalk from the beach so I can certainly overlook sand in the nooks and crannies! Showers were hot and linens were clean. The motel is older but location seemed safe. I don't need some cookie cutter spotless location to enjoy the area. I would stay here again.

The pictures on the website look like nice rooms. The pictures must have been from 10 years ago. The room was not very clean. I don't think the room had been vacuumed or shampooed in a very long time. Also, the bathroom toilet still had pee stains from previous tenants. The locks on the room door were missing. I would never stay here again. I expected more for the high price.

My husband and I were needing were searching day trips from Houston and found the Carr Mansion in Galveston which I did not know existed. We typically stay on the West End closer to friends that live there. OH WHAT A DELIGHT! We stayed in the Carriage House in the back. It was so so peaceful. We enjoyed the whole experience of the mansion as well. Joellynn fixed us a wonderful breakfast and we chatted about so much going on in Galveston. She also recommended some superior dining recommendations, Rudy and Paco's and Guidos. We went to both, Guidos for our 29th anniversary on the Seawall, and then the second night, Rudy and Paco's. This was my first time at Avenue O Bed and Breakfast and I have to say my boyfriend and I had such a delightful time. He and I were trying to find a place where we could get away for a couple of days, but not be to far from home. We were both EXTREMELY grateful that we found this place. Polly and Jeff make you feel like royalty and they cater to your every need. We were greeted with a Wecome Sign, homemade cupcakes and their cute little dog Heidi. The room we chose was the Balinese Room. When you walk into this room you feel the ZEN and tranquillity of mind. There was a lot of thought that went into the decor of this room from it's perfectly matched pieces to the towels, bathrobes, and linens. Everything was of high quality. We both fell in love with the shower. It felt like rain falling upon your skin. The view from our balcony was of their beautiful garden. I could good lost in my daydreams of it's beauty. In the mornings Jeff brewed a fresh pot of coffee from a local vendor in Galveston and it was perfectly matched to the most FABULOUS breakfast that Polly prepared. OMG!! The food was SCRUMPTIOUS!! There was nothing left on either one of our plates. Avenue O is close to the beach, the Strand, Pleasure Pier and great restaurants. My boyfriend and I will be back!! I highly recommend you come here. Thank you, Polly and Jeff for your PHENOMENAL hospitality!!

First I want to say this is a beautiful, well maintained hotel. The rooms are very nice as well as the most friendly staff I have come across in my travels. It is right across from the Seawall but you do need to travel down a bit (about a mile) to the sandy part of the beach. Since the Seawall has an abundance of parking it is worth the savings for this hotel. They also have an underground parking which I appreciate for my car as well as above ground. Amazing drinks from the bar and a nice place to unwind. Now the ghost.... Not saying it is but... we had a drawer open right beside me on its own. Maybe the floor is unsteady but maybe? Then about midnight when everyone is sound asleep my husband and I both woke to a sound of a loud hissing noise. He thought it was coming from the bed I was in and I thought it was from his side of the room Well we could never figure the source of the sound so back to sleep we went. We were then woken up around 2am and everyone in the room woke to the incredibly loud noise that made us all jump straight up. As we looked we realized the entire front cover of the ac unit was laying in the floor. Not a small cover that may have just fallen off but the ENTIRE cover from one side to the other, off laying in the floor After a little maneuvering my husband figured out how to put it back on the unit. We did not sleep much after that because we just did not know what was going to happen next. Nothing like that happened again but the refrigerator in the room kept being turned off. The knob was turned to off multiple times. We were there for 3 days, same room and each time we left and came back the refrigerator was turned off. I am not saying it was a ghost but I cannot say that it wasn’t either. I did have a conversation and asked to please let us sleep better and to not make any more noise in the night and the only strange thing after that was the fridge. Overall, we have stayed in Galveston many times, love the haunted history, love to stay with our own ghostly host, and this hotel was as good as when we stayed at the Galvez for a much lower price. I do recommend this hotel!!

We spent 3 nights at Harbor House Hotel and were very happy with the location--walking distance to The Strand for shopping and browsing and to several excellent restaurants. The large size and "industrial chic" decor of the rooms was pleasing. Dee, at the front desk, was a delight. She made use feel welcomed each time we returned and always provided cheerful teasing and repartee. Our only complaint was the continental breakfast. While it delivered what was advertised--"continental breakfast"--we would have liked to have had some protein options available. We will definitely book this hotel again!

My friends, mom, boyfriend and I all stayed here for our Spring Break. Although everything in Galveston was closed due to the virus, we had an amazing time here. The staff were very hospitable to all of us throughout our stay. We enjoyed our days at the pool, exploring through the hotel and making friends with the fish in the lobby. Everyone was very helpful, especially Eric. He kept us very well hydrated with water throughout the weekend and even gave us some activities to cure our boredom due to nothing being open. I will 100% be coming back this summer to enjoy another amazing weekend with the hotel!

This "out of the way Inn" was a really fabfrigentastic find. The price was very low compared to others in the area. We were really surprised at how clean the room was, bathroom looked like it had recently been remodeled. Parking there was not a problem and if you were staying there for a cruise, you get free parking while on the cruise, a real bonus! Friendly staff, gave us a map of the area and had brochure cards for almost anything in and around the area. We have stayed at 2 of the many Laquinta's we went to in the past that were substandard and the Scottish Inn was far better than they were. However, when an event is in town, the prices go up so check that out in advance. I highly recommend this Inn for your stay while in the Galveston area.

My wife and I decided at the last minute to take a weekend getaway and go to Galveston and decided to stay here for it’s location and the cleanliness of the rooms and past reviews being positive and having handicap accessible rooms with shower chairs available for guest use. I am disabled and am a bilateral below the knee amputee and needed an accessible bathroom and shower chair and was assured at the time of our booking that our room was accessible and would definitely have a shower chair and as we checked in my wife asked about the shower chair again and was assured it was already in our room and we had nothing to worry about. After we booked in we went to our room to leave our luggage before going out to the strand for the evening and found there to be no shower chair in our room and that the shower wasn’t a roll in shower like we had been led to believe we’d have but instead it was a regular shower/tub combo with grab bars which would of still worked had there been a shower chair and decided we’d just go out and ask about it when we got back because people forget to do things and with our reservation telling us it was available we had no reason to doubt it wouldn’t be corrected later on. After going down to the strand and having a great time and fun dinner we came back and asked the new desk clerk for a shower chair because it had not been in our room as we were told it would be when we made our reservations and also what we had been told when we checked in by the desk clerk only to be told there isn’t one available anywhere in their hotel except in the handicap accessible room which was already booked by someone else and that desk clerk then totally tried to fully blame the booking agent for falsely claiming that the hotel had any other shower chairs available for guests except in that one specific handicap accessible room for false advertisement and that there wasn’t anything they could do to remedy this problem and they were sorry but tried to stress the point that it was the fully the booking agents fault for false advertisement trying to completely sidestep any responsibility for not having a any other shower chairs available. This was supposed to be a romantic weekend for my wife and I and it was our first weekend trip as husband and wife since we were married on December 23rd, 2019 in New Orleans and to only be able to take a birdbath in the sink pretty much sucked all of the romance of being able to shower with my wife out of the evening completely and left me feeling disabled and as a second class less then human being. If you’re disabled and use a booking agent I wouldn’t believe anything they have to say and definitely don’t expect this place to honor anything the booking agent has promised or even attempt to make things right or give you any alternative way of taking a shower except for a washcloth, bar of soap, and enough room to roll your wheelchair under the bathroom sink to scrub-a-dub-dub. I was left feeling like a round peg

My husband and I recently stayed at this Best Western location to be close to my father who was in the hospital due to complications from COVID-19. We weren't sure how long we were staying, and ended up extending our reservation twice. Although all of the staff we came in contact with we're very nice, Rene really stood out. She helped us each time we extended the reservation. My husband had to leave for a couple days to go home for work. While I was there alone, she made a point to ask me how I was doing, as well as ask about my father. She was cheerful, friendly, and I felt that she went above and beyond to help make us comfortable while we were there. The next time we stay in Galveston, we will definitely come back to this hotel.

It is only a two-minute walk from the beach. There is a Chinese restaurant on the front and back of the hotel. There is a bar in the restaurant, which tastes good. There is a small swimming pool in the hotel, the water quality is average~ but the sea is very close! The basic configuration in the room is shown in the figure, and the air conditioning is very comfortable! There are refrigerators, TVs, microwaves, hair dryers, and the mattresses are more comfortable, clean, and cost-effective. Breakfast is relatively simple, with fewer types of food, and is part of the configuration of a cheaper American hotel~ Free parking! Free Wi-Fi!

We stayed at this hotel because they offered a park & ride for our Journey Cruise. For their cheapest room, the shuttle service & after tax we paid almost $183.00. If we would of parked at the Galveston Port of parking it would of been about $150.00 for the two weeks of parking. Now this hotel uses Moody Gardens for their shuttle service because somehow these two companies are linked together. Here is the down fall to this deal. Since Moody Gardens Hotel is the shuttle service their guest come first & are high priority. So the shuttle picked us up first then went to Moody Gardens to pick up their people. After sitting their for 20 minutes the driver came back & said they didn't have anybody to pick up at that time so we went to the port. He told us the pick up times where 9:00 am, 10:30 am & 12:30 pm when we return & where to find them. So when we returned we found the driver & got loaded to be returned. Now since Moody Gardens in priority they got dropped off first. The driver called in all their valet numbers so their vehicles were waiting for them up front when we arrived. Then he went into the hotel to get their keys & then unloaded their luggage. This whole process took us a half hour of messing around & we didn't get dropped off until almost 10:00 am. If I was to ever do this again I'd just stay at Moody Gardens or park at the port which is much faster.

This is the more difficult Yilin Hilton I have ever lived. Compared with Hilton, compared with other Doubletree Hilton, the service is really bad. Two waiters, knocking the door twice and entering the house directly! twice! The front desk clerk is also awkward, don't say hello (I have lived in many different places, Hilton or Doubletree Hilton, hospitality is their common point, except this one). An umbrella cannot be provided throughout the hotel. The bar was closed very early at night, as if it was closed at nine or ten, which happened to be during Christmas. There are very few breakfast dishes, but the breakfast waiter has a good attitude and the only one is as passionate as most old Americans.

I'm increasingly becoming a fan of Super 8's after a few recent stays. The rooms are very comfortable and clean. This one is no exception. Over the years I've had occasion to stay at many different motels in Galveston. I think this one is one of the best. However, I do have one minor complaint. There were no electrical outlets near the bed. Since I sleep with a CPAP machine this was a inconvenience. It was also surprising because I inadvertently reserved an accessible room. You'd think any room that would have convenient outlets near the bed it would be this one. My second inconvenience was that the door to the restroom wouldnt close. I mean we all like a little privacy in this room. But that's hard to get when the door sticks and wont close. And this is a relatively easy thing to fix so there really shouldn't be an excuse. Anyway, this motel is still a great value and is conveniently located. With a little work it would be even better.

My husband and I stayed here before we went on a cruise that departed from Galveston. This was our first time to Galveston and we really liked it and all the many things there were to do. My husband likes to research the area before we go and tries to find unique but luxury hotels. This one was a jackpot. This hotel is exactly as beautiful as it looks in the photos and on their website. The architecture is amazing and they just don't build them like this anymore. The landscaping is lush and gorgeous. At night, the lighting highlights all the building features and it is so welcoming. We enjoyed the Adirondack Chairs on the front lawn - a great place to sit with a cocktail! The hotel has a ghost and learning about her history and sightings was so much fun. I'm not sure what I believe but I have to say I felt her presence several times in the elevator, when I was alone...or was I? The staff at Hotel Galvez are simply amazing! They provide first class service with a friendly smile. We sat at the bar each night and really enjoyed talking with the bartenders, as they provided a lot of good information about places to visit and also some great stories about the ghost. We had to mail something very important that came up after we arrived but the local post office was closed on Saturday. One of the front desk staff was so kind and helpful to my husband and her customer service was extraordinary, as she actually took the letter to another post office on her off-hours. That act of kindness was so very much appreciated and started our vacation off on such a positive note. The hotel accommodations are wonderful. The room was kept very clean, the bed was comfortable and the TV was large. Everything we wanted! The hotel provides a free shuttle to downtown Galveston to their sister hotel, The Trent House. From there you can walk The Strand, where everything is located. The food at Hotel Galvez was excellent and we had the breakfast buffet on our last morning and everything was delicious! The hotel location is right on the sea wall with a short walk across the street to get to the beach. A few blocks up is Pleasure Pier, a fun spot for kids. It was chilly when we were there but we enjoyed our walks on the beach and exploring the area. The pool is enclosed by a curving rock wall and wrought iron fencing. The detailing was stunning. The lush plantings and tall palm trees gives it that Hollywood feel. It was a good size pool with plenty of loungers around the entire pool area. There is a swim-up bar and a hot tub. We absolutely loved our stay at Hotel Galvez and highly recommend it.

From the moment that we pulled up to Lost Bayou until the moment we had to depart, everything was simply perfect! Barbara met us at the front door, got us all checked into our room, showed us around the house-and the smell of freshly baked banana muffins also greeted us! We found out the next morning that they were as delicious as they smelled! Our room was just lovely-the Oleander-with everything that we could have asked for. There were plenty of electrical outlets for charging electronics, although I hardly looked at my phone the whole weekend, as this was a true getaway for us to relax and just enjoy living in the moment. And the bathroom was gorgeous-complete with a claw footed tub! The bed was very comfortable, and as Lost Bayou is located in a residential area, it was quite quiet and we slept so well! We stayed for two nights and breakfast each morning was delicious! Barbara and Dave are wonderful hosts-and cooks!-and we enjoyed our first breakfast meeting the other guests. And since we are both vegetarians-and one of the other couples were vegan-Barbara made sure of our dietary restrictions as soon as we booked the room, well ahead of our arrival date. The food was fabulous, so if you have special dietary needs, you will be very well taken care of here! Our second night was a Sunday night and all of the other guests had left, so we had the place to ourselves. Barbara had asked us on Sunday morning if we liked mushrooms-a resounding yes from us!- and since we were the only guests for breakfast on Monday morning, she made us a fabulous mushroom, egg and parmesan dish! We had the opportunity to visit with Barbara and Dave and they are such lovely people! We can't wait to come back again and again. And the location is perfect for just about anywhere you'd like to go. It was pretty hot this past weekend, so we decided to drive where we were going, but in cooler weather, walking would be a great choice, as nothing is really too far away. If you are looking for a place where you can relax, enjoy wonderful food, and hosts that can answer just about any question about Galveston for you, this is the place!!

My husband and I booked a 2-night stay here. We chose a queen sized room, and it came with a kitchenette complete with dishes, pots, stove, and dishwasher. We were impressed! The bathroom was big, and the desk in our room was also a nice size. Our bed was a little too firm for my liking but it was fine. The attendants were very helpful. The hotel offers “borrowed items” where you can request to borrow household things, like a crockpot or even a small game console, for example. I thought this idea was really cool. One downside, I guess, was the price. It was a little too expensive for my husband’s liking, as it was over $400 for our 2-night stay, but I wanted our stay to be great- and it was! So keep the price in mind, but you will be paying for what you get!

My Mom and I traveled with four kids to Moody Gardens for the day and chose this hotel to stay the night. It was one of the only hotels in Galveston that had rooms that accommodated more than four people with a sofa bed and had an indoor heated pool and hot tub. We had a great experience from start to finish. Check in was quick and easy. Our room was spacious and clean. It showed some wear and tear, but nothing major. Rooms have a small refrigerator and a microwave. We got a room with a balcony, which had a nice view of the bay, but disappointingly no patio furniture to enjoy it. We used the pool and hot tub twice. It was warm and clean and the smell of chlorine was not overwhelming. The complimentary breakfast was fully stocked with a nice variety. All the staff members we encountered were helpful from bringing extra towels to providing a toothbrush to helping us collect our swim trunks from a tree when they had blown down from the balcony. Beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was great. The kids reported the WiFi was super fast. We got a great rate and we’d definitely stay again!

My stay was great no problems in the room. Not for from where we wanted to spend the day. Staff was friendly and helpful. Food and seawall only about 5 to 10 min away from hotel which was great when we arrived late

Stayed with my mom and 8 year old for 5 amazing, relaxing days. Jay at the front desk was SO great checking us in and getting us the best suite possible for our family. The suite was clean and decorated perfectly. Even though with Covid there is no housekeeping available, all you have to do is call the front desk and the will run up extra towels sheets. Kitchen was small but perfect for our needs and saved us tons of money since we didn’t eat out. My only suggestion would be to provide a kitchen sponge as well as the towel / cloth. Bunk was perfect size for my 8 year old and bed super comfortable. I would definitely book again!

Trying to find a cheap option to get away near the beach but don’t want a place with bug or that is dirty this place is the place to go. Simple with everything you need! Not the best hotel in town but the best bang for your bucks!
