We stayed on a travel zoo deal in October and at £159 for 3 nights, I still wouldn’t consider staying again never mind that they generally want more than that per night! To start with we were in Room 32 - pentreath, clearly shoved in here because we booked on a deal. In summary: - Old decor room not a refurbished one - Right over the main bar door which slams sooooo loud - Bathroom very old, tired, grubby looks like a caravan - Dusty, dirty tea tray - Ripped duvet cover After 1 awful night we asked to move rooms. We were told they were fully booked saturday but we could move sun night - found online they had a family room for sat and sun night free- so I went back down and they allowed us to move. Throughout this there was no apology just offhand comments from a woman with serious attitude problems. We were then moved to 33 - Minack. This room was more modern, the bathroom was really well done, big fluffy towels but that’s the end of the positives here. The guest info book in the room was dirty, covered in food on the covid clean page how ironic! They have refurbed the whole room yet still there’s old orange pine furniture? Seems odd when spending so much on bathroom/ carpet etc to leave that there. But it shows their greed and laziness to detail. Speaking of, there were 3 lamps in the room, every one had a different shade bulb? Why?! The window didn’t close fully either, the catch was broken so when it looks closed it could be pushed open (great security). Also great for sleep when it’s blowing a gale of an October night, NOT. The sad thing is it only need such minor improvements and it would be superb. They seem to have absolutely no inclination to do this, taking profit over service every time. They rely on the tourist location for one time visitors they’re not interested in service bringing people back again. They own the saddle and stable rooms a mile along the road and it’s the same there - springs in your back on the mattress, bedroom doors don’t close. It’s such a waste of this great place. They’ve spent more on downstairs areas that people can see instead of the rooms and peoples comfort. The location is fantastic, we love Sennen and it’s a shame they can’t offer the service so many other places do. The breakfast here I will say is fantastic, freshly cooked to your choosing but it’s not worth the stay just for the breakfast! Plenty of other places to stay, Airbnb’s etc in the area

My partner and I stayed at the Wellington for one night as we planned to explore the mining coast the next day. We were greeted with a smile in the pub and shown to our room. The room and en suite were both immaculately clean. The bed was comfortable, we loved sitting in the window and watching the world go by outside in the square. The hotel has a lovely menu but we decided to have fish and chips from the shop opposite. There is also a co-op in the square. We both slept well. In the morning we enjoyed hot showers, plenty of towels provided. There was complimentary tea and coffee in our room. We had a lovely full breakfast and chatted with the owners who were in the restaurant, they are so friendly.I would highly recommend this place to stay. It’s a stunning area, lots to see within a few miles. We will definitely stay again!

Well what can I say. I wanted to take my grandmother out for lunch while visiting for Mother's day and oh what a meal! As a chef I am hard pushed to find somewhere I genuinely enjoy my meal Today was easily the best Hake I have ever tasted and the service was second to none my Partner has a brilliant ploughman's and Nanny had a delicious Cesar Salad. The wine was fresh and the desserts we had cheese board and Eaton mess was to dye for! Good Cornish ingredients and cooked to perfection. I hope the Queens gets re discovered as a place to eat. A very quiet dining room that I hope to see bursting at the seams for this amazing food and service. Thank you all so much for lovely afternoon. We look forward to being back on the summer!

The room design is very special and the accommodation is very comfortable. The attic room is hot during the day when it is sunny. The hotel does not include breakfast, but there is a restaurant downstairs, which tastes very good. There are some specialty shops near the hotel, which are worth visiting. Most of Penzance's accommodations are on the hillside, not far from the hotel from the train station, but it is tiring to climb the slope with luggage. To all major attractions is to take a car from the railway station. There are several Chinese restaurants on the market steet, which taste pretty good.

Was on the fence about whether to even review this place as our experience was really mixed (both good and bad). However, having been swayed to book here by overwhelmingly positive reviews, we thought it best to share our honest experience. The Good- Fish served in the bar was good (but you have to book - see below) Wi-Fi worked well Room was big Convenient location for station The Bad - Bathroom needed serious attention. There was black mould. The shower leaked all night every night. The cold tap was put on backwards and wasn’t even actually attached to the sink. The room needed some TLC. It was dark (overhead light very dim and only other light from small bedside lamps). The wiring for the TB was a mess and definitely didn’t match the “boutique” description of the rooms. There was also water damage on the ceiling. The stepladder was left in the hallway all week. The pub seemed to shut at strange hours (and earlier than published). While there around 8pm on a weekend night, we watched staff turn guests away for food. It seemed odd as we had just ordered. Staff told them they were fully booked when the place was actually quite empty and the kitchen was listed as open for another 45 minutes. The staff didn’t even recommend possible other options in town but left the guests just standing there awkwardly. It was complicated by the fact that the guests were dark skinned and everyone else was white of some description. The situation was awkward at best and discriminatory at worst. It made the few of us in the place feel deeply uncomfortable. Having said that, the staff were young and it struck me that they perhaps needed more training/guidance in handling situations because we didn’t get the sense they intended to put paying guests in such an awkward situation. Our overall experience wasn’t great in part because our expectations were high based on other reviews. If we’d paid less for our rooms and/or had lower expectations, we may have had a better experience.
