Hotels Near Minas Tirith In Palermo
0.14km from Minas TirithWe had another place booked for months but they had a problem with our room at the last minute so we booked an apartment here. We weren't disappointed. The apartment was lovely and spacious, big ceilings allowing coolness and an excellent air conditioning system. Full kitchen, hob, microwave, toaster, coffee machine, fridge. Huge walk in shower with waterfall shower and detachable spray. The apartments are reached through a door to the street and up stairs. There is a lift too. The street outside is cordoned off further up as there is building work but we never heard a thing. Apparently it's part of a new metro to the port but is taking a long time. There's shops , bars and restaurants outside the door and small shops with a larger supermarket across Poliatema square. You can walk to the main areas but please note it was 30 degrees when we stayed so the distances take a lot out of you. However, it's very close to public transport, hop on and hop off buses and a little train that goes round. Breakfast is a small room so you're better off grabbing what you want and taking it back to the room. No hot dishes but do you really want eggs and bacon in 30 degrees heat outside. Great selection of cold stuff including Sicilian pastries. Try ice cream in a brioche bun from a bar or cafe too. It's close to the port and more functional than romantic but we like functional places and I would recommend the apartments

0.18km from Minas TirithOur room looked exactly the same as on the pictures, the breakfast was good, although it was a shame, that in Italy a hotel makes that kind of watery coffe (swill), which didn't looked like real coffe nor tasted like that. The sheets were clean but we needed the thermo blankets which were definintely not clean (they smelled). The bathroom was large, but the shower cabin was so small, that my fiancé could't fit in. Otherwise the staff was kind and helpful they gave us another room with a spacios shower cabin. It would be nice if there would be a kettle in the room to make a tea or coffe. BUT if you choose this hotel, take it into account that on Friday and Saturday there's party time around the building which makes impossible to sleep from 10PM till 2:30AM and the streets which lead to the hotel are messy and smell from p*ss and sh*t and next to the hotel there begins the slum part of the city. The hotel writes that they have soundproof windows and walls but take my word: next to a pub and and a roaring street music the windows and the walls mean zero. So from Sunday to Friday I recommend the hotel (despite the location) because its a good deal, but if you want to relax, don't come here on the weekend.

0.22km from Minas TirithThank you Sabrina and Danilo for taking care of us. We felt like home. The hostel is wonderful and the breakfast was a blast! We are so greatful for your warm welcome. One night only in Palermo it's not enough. We will come back soon i hope...after the coronavirus apocalypse. I hope you are healty and safe! We think about you and your beautiful city and island of Sicily. Forza Italia! with love from Polonia
0.23km from Minas TirithVery clean, beautiful room. Had a better sleep the second night after I worked out how to close the shutters doh!! It's in a good location for restaurants and sightseeing. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Highly recommend If I had to say something, I'd say the breakfast bar is a little too small, you can't see anything when tables are full with people, too many tables in a small area. Other than that perfect!

0.24km from Minas TirithThe hotel is located right on the waterfront, just across the harbor. It's nice to sip your morning coffee on the 7th floor breakfast terrace while watching the ferries moving in and out. The location is great not only because of the scenic view: the main attractions of this fabulous city, including Teatro Massimo and Fontana Pretoria, are walking distance away. Although there's no gym room, the hotel's staircase walls are painted in an attractive way to encourage the guests to climb the stairs instead of taking the elevators. However, the hotel's theme seems to be graffiti, to match the neighborhood – old buildings, some of them decayed and covered in interesting and funny graffiti. Stayed in a room located at the 4th floor, over viewing the mountain and the old neighborhood mentioned above. The concierge staff is particularly kind and helpful. Free city maps are available for free at the reception desk. The breakfast is decent. I also took some meals in the hotel's restaurant and I found the food savory and tasty, although not much fancy looking. All in all, a good accommodation option in Palermo, offering a good value for money.
0.26km from Minas TirithAPARTMENT: I stayed in Olivella a very large one bedroom Palazzo Planeta apartment, with a pleasant streetscape outlook. It was on the third level for which there was an efficient lift which I only used with my baggage when I first arrived and finally departed. Otherwise, I much preferred the grand marble staircase of this stately and very secure building. Olivella has timber floors with rugs, a mix of antique and modern furniture accented with a few interesting pieces of Sicilian pottery. The separate kitchen was well-equipped enough to prepare a dinner party if you wanted. Of greater importance to me were the coffee machine with a supply of capsules and an easy-to-use, very efficient washing machine. The bathroom had overhead and hand-held showers over the bath plus toiletries LOCATION: Central and convenient. I arrived by plane and the airport bus dropped me off about five minutes walk away. Monumental Quatro Canti is less than 15 minutes’ walk away. Almost next door to that is the equally imposing Fontana Pretoria (fountain) and three churches which are all stunningly beautiful in quite different ways (Byzantine, Baroque and less-is-more simplicity, the latter being the one with the three red domes, an emblem of Palermo). About another 10 minutes’ pleasant walk takes you to the cathedral with its tower and crypts then a short distance on to splendors and magnificance of the Royal Palace and the Palatino Chapel which must be seen to be believed. And beyond them is Catacome dei Cappuccini with its thousands of fully clothed standing and recumbent skeletons, the like of which you’re unlikely to have seen before. PEACE: Palermo is a vibrant city but the double-glazing muffled most external noise. The sounds I did hear did not undermine the overall pleasure of staying here. WIFI: Easy connection, fast and reliable. SERVICE: Excellent from booking to departure. Before making a reservation directly with Palazzo Planeta, I had some questions to which Alessandro replied with helpful answers. A pre-arrival welcome email from the Palazzo Planeta put me in touch with Mariella, who was to be my greeter. At the time I was having some difficulty sorting out the Italian timetables for getting to my next stop after Palermo, Catania. Before I’d even arrived in Palermo, Mariella emailed detailed and helpful bus and train alternatives (in English) which made planning easy. She was equally cordial and generous with her extensive local knowledge when she greeted me on arrival. VALUE FOR MONEY: Outstanding. The tariff was reasonable in itself and unbeatable value compared to a four star hotel offering comparable accommodation. The pluses were the central location with so much space, the opportunity to relax with meals I could prepare myself from the excellent local Sicilian produce plus the convenience of a washing machine. NEXT TIME: Definitely. I stayed here for four days and while that was sufficient time to explo
0.26km from Minas TirithWhat a lovely and pleasant stay we had! We normally stay in hotels but found most hotels in Sicily appeared to be old, dated and overpriced. So we booked B&B In Centro Palermo. From the moment we booked, the lovely Federica contacted us with regards to location, parking and checking in details a few months ahead, so if we were not sure of anything, we had opportunities to check. Our plane arrived in the evening, and Federica kept us informed as soon as we stepped off the plane and ensure our arrival to the B&B and check in all ran smoothly. The room was modern, contemporary, large in size, and cleaned every day. Bed was comfortable. Breakfast was included each day and we were served by a sweet lady who remembered our tea and coffee orders every day we were there. Normally I don't have high expectations when it comes to options of breakfast in Italy, as most items are too sweet such as biscuits, sweet pastries, but it did offer fruit, yoghurt and cereal, toast and eggs which was more than I expected. The location was between old town and designer shops area, so most sights, restaurants, shops and bars in Palermo were all within walking distance. I would highly recommend this place and all the helpful friendly staff as comfortable base in Palermo,

0.26km from Minas TirithExcellent location in the heart of the upscale shopping area. Near to the opera house and decent restaurants. Typical size rooms for a downtown, city, hotel. Staff, was nice enough. Certainly not over the top. Breakfast was a weak point. Staff very nice, offerings relatively sparse. Bar run on request. Parking is interesting, across the street, in the basement of a building, and you better know how to handle your vehicle. The spots are tight and require substantial maneuvering.
0.28km from Minas TirithReally glad I chose this place, super location and very stylish room. A delicious spread for breakfast every morning, including Sicilian pastries. I loved the view from the balcony, watching cruise liners and ferries arrive and depart. The staff were super friendly and I would definitely stay here again as it was such great value.

0.29km from Minas TirithOK, let me start by saying that My friend and I were supposed to go to another hotel within the area which I did, but it turned out to be very old, dirty and just one big mess. I decided I could not to stay there so at the last minute I was looking for a hotel, bed-and-breakfast or anywhere that was clean and professional for us. Fortunately, through some miracle contacting places, I found Antonella. We told her the situation and she was more than happy to help. She came late in the evening to greet us and make sure that we were situated very well. We got into the room and it was absolutely beautiful, clean and very comfortable. Antonella treated me and my friend like we were family she would check up on us to make sure we were OK, see if we needed anything and she provided many recommendations-she was just a delight to be around. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and she always had fresh fruit available (if you needed a little snack). Everything about this place was wonderful the location, the room, the hostess, the breakfast ...everything from start to finish was excellent I highly recommend this bed-and-breakfast. When I return to Palermo, this will definitely be the place I stay!! And honestly, Antonella is amazing you will love her!
Hotels Near Minas Tirith In Palermo Review
In Jun/July 2019, a tragedy occurred in my life and had to find a way to move forward and a place to stay while I took care of my things as I needed to leave my home due to a terrible situation. I booked myself into Casena Dei Coli, a place I had wonderful memories from, so I thought, I’ll go there to feel safe while my life was falling apart. With a minor issue during ordering, which wasn’t their fault, they helped me get a room, one that I almost lost due to this mistake of online booking through a third party. Deborah who was handling the situation was an angel, like many that week, so many wonderful people came to my rescue, hidden angels all teamed up and showed me what a wonderful soul so many had in my most desperate hour. From Deborah the receptionist to the manager, to the kitchen staff, they were all incredibly supportive and kind, it brings a tear to my eye how wonderful they were with me. Attentive and understanding of what I was going through, they took good care of me. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, it is a perfect little heaven, hidden from the rest of their surroundings. With wonderful room service, amazing breakfast with delicious items to enjoy, they gave me an incredibly safe and happy environment to pull through during my tragedy. I will forever consider them part of my most precious memories from Palermo. Everyone was beyond helpful and beyond perfect in their care for me and the hotel is amazing. I’ve been there many times and I will return again and again. I’ll send friends there and I’ll bring whoever I’ll travel with there as well. I know I praise them a lot, but I don’t do this just because… I’m not paid to say any of this, I am speaking from my own experience and their service and professionalism was beyond perfect… they are a true hidden gem in Palermo… utterly kind, utterly professional and my stay there was healing. Thank you to Deborah, to the manager that day, to the kind dude who helped me out after work… Because of you all, and so many in that week, I got out safely and with so many helping souls who I now call dear and close friends. My highest recommendation goes to the staff and this hotel for being so professional and going out of their way to make me comfortable and offering care and assistance in my time of need. I’ll be seeing you all again shortly when I come back visiting. Have a happy New Year and a successful one! Gracie mille amici ❤️
My Husband booked this hotel for us to rest up after our lovely wedding, as it was stressful during these times. I emailed the Mercure ahead to see if they could offer us an upgrade or something nice for when we arrived. The Mercure replied positively. They booked our taxi from the airport and we were looking forward to our stay. When we arrived, we were offered a room on the 3rd floor. There was no mention of this was the upgrade I was asking for, not even a congratulations. Our room was a nice size and the bed was comfortable. There was a large balcony with no furniture, and when we first arrived, there was a man on our balcony, we think he was cleaning, and wanted to cut through into our room to leave. The WiFi can be a bit hit and miss, but mostly ok. The air con is noisy but it can be left on all day and turned off a night if needed. The shower temperature seems to be in the wrong place. There is a danger of knocking the lever with your arm, making you scold or freeze before you have realised you have knocked it. The bathroom floor is very slippery when wet. The room was clean, although housekeeping did forget to clean our room on one occasion. The hotel is in a great location and Palermo has excellent street food. So I would strongly advise to not pay extra for breakfast at this hotel. It is far cheaper to go elsewhere. Due to social distancing, the food is now served to you, and you have to queue up for it. If I wanted scrambled eggs of on toast, I would have to queue for the eggs and for the staff to put the bread in to cook. I would then have to queue again to collect the toast and my eggs would be cold. Hot drinks are supposed to be offered to you once seated but we were sometimes missed. We gave up on breakfast we had paid for on a couple of occasions and went straight for the street food. Because of the location I would stay here again, but I would do a few things differently. I would not pay for the breakfast, there are plenty of places you can eat at a much cheaper price. I would also bring a travel kettle and milk for the empty fridge in the room. That way I can have a hot drink every morning.
I would have given it 2 stars if it was not for the below incidents. The hotel did upgrade us to a room with a balcony even though this should have been booked in a first place. However, this seemed to change staff's attitude towards us, after this they were not that helpful. Apparently a new service they offer is for guests to be dropped off for free at a near by location, which we booked for the first day. Once we were dropped off, the driver gave us a card and said we could contact them when we want to be picked up, which we did but apparently they were busy. The car never worked or they were always busy after that, sad to say but true the service was always available for Italian guests. Although the hotel was clean and has good WIFI, it is NOT near a beach. The nearest beach is very very dirty. The garden was lovely but we could not use it as it was extremely hot and staff refused to open the umbrellas, apparently due to strong winds! It was so hot that no leafs were even moving. We wanted to sit outside under the only umbrella that was opened but had no tables and it was in the shade, so moved couple of chairs. Staff came out immediately and asked us to move in the sun and took the umbrella down, no explanation, nothing. The restaurant is constantly hired out to weddings, birthday parties etc, which was okay the first night enjoyed the music, however this was at least 5 night in a row and music was so loud it went on until 0300 am at least every night. Those guests were able to use whatever they liked, it felt like we as a paying holiday customers were an inconvenience and a bother most of the time. Coffees for staying in customers should be charged at 1 euro, we were constantly charged 2.50 per coffee and in the end it was pointless discussing it. My son bought water from the hotel and was charged 4 euros for 1 litre bottle, the next night he was charged 2.00 euros for a bigger bottle. On arrival no one mentioned the check out time and hotels tend to usually confirm this, as it was a package holiday and they had all the details I assumed they knew that we did not have to leave until 1830. Fine, maybe I should have double checked but not even checking that we know, I was in the shower and got a call which my son answered and he was told we must leave immediately. He tried to explain I was in the shower, in the end I had to come out get dressed and go to reception. We were given an hour but when I asked what the check out time should have been it kept changing, 11 then 12. They did let us get all our last luggage together until 1300 but spent quite a bit of time discussing it. After we left they did take out bags in an empty room (which was nice), it was a very hot day and we did not want to travel or walk anywhere so we went and sat in the cool where the bags were. Staff came in straight away and said they needed the room at 1800 as it was booked, so I said fine we would have left by then and only wait 30 mins in the sun for the tran
We had a comfortable stay at this hotel. The best feature was the great location right in the centre of the old town. It is ideal for anyone who like me, likes to get to know a city by walking it. It was less than 1 min walk to Quattri Centro and 2 min to the lovely Piazza Bellini, Santa Caterina and Martorana churches & the wonderfully named, Fountain of Shame. It was just 5 min to the Vucciria market and 10 min to Teatro Massimo and Capo markets. This meant that we could easily explore the city by foot. The entry and lobby are quite grand. It was originally an 18th century palazzo and it retains some of that charm and a sense of faded old-world elegance. The hotel itself is of a palatial size and is a bit of a maze. Although I got lost every single morning on the way to the breakfast room and occasionally got lost in corridors going to my own room, I liked that the long, winding halls and hidden corners were styled with antique furniture, vases, artwork and ornamentation. Front desk service was consistently friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean but a little dated and a bit dark, without much natural light. The bathroom was a reasonable size and certainly big enough for two people. The shower was a bath/shower combination and there was a generous supply of shampoo, conditioner and other toiletries. Importantly, the room was quiet at night which, given its central location, was a big plus. All in all, it was an excellent room for the price range. The buffet breakfast was particularly good and included yoghurts, juices, fruit, cold meats and cheeses, a selection of hot food and a large range of pastries (cannoli, cakes and chocolate croissants). The breakfast room itself was an attractive space with high ceilings, white tablecloths and antique dressers. Overall, the hotel was good value and in an excellent central location. I would stay there again.
This is a budget B & B but it is immaculately clean and in a very convenient position for train and coach and city tram. There is no reception as such but access is by pre-booking. You will then receive a code for the outer door and the key safe. All straightforward and simple. There are two flights of narrow stairs to climb so a heavy case can be a little difficult. Breakfast at 5 Euros was outstanding. A continental breakfast but varied and plentiful. Highly commended
