      The hotel is situated in the tiny village of Gersau which lies on lake Lucerne between Vitznau and Brunnen. The hotel itself enjoys a favourable position as it is directly on the lakeshore commanding wonderful views. The exterior is surprisingly very modern for a hotel in central Switzerland as it is a white building with balconies painted in blue, and bright yellow shades. The medium sized lobby is brightly lit and pleasantly decorated in pastel colours. The bedrooms are also of a good standard with coordinating furniture. Although they are fairly narrow, they are long enough to include a small sitting area which leads onto a balcony overlooking the lake. The hotel has a cafe as well as the gero-stube which serves typical dishes, a garden restaurant and a bar - all decorated in modern style. There are also a few meeting rooms which are used to serve group menus. This is a good hotel for groups which offers a high standard of modern amenities and a beautiful location. 19/01/95 This is a modern building The hotel enjoys clear views of Lake Lucerne, situated about 40 minutes from Lucerne city centre.

      We made a restaurant reservation two weeks in advance to make sure we get a table on the beautiful terrace with the breathtaking view we saw online. As we arrived (at 13:30) we realized: 1) the reservation was totally obsolete since only 3 of aprox. 40 tables were occupied 2) nobody greeted/welcomed us in, we waited a few moments and had to go after the only one waiter who was there to ask if we may be seated or just pick a table ourselves. The rest was sadly no improvement to the first impression: nice menu and nice dish presentations but sometimes rather small portions. The service seemed to be a "first day for beginners" training session: nobody seemed to be responsible for our table and when someone did, we had to ask for everything several times and wait quite some time: - ask for the bread basket, - ask if we may order, - ask if we may have another bottle of water (they did not see we were out of water half way through) etc etc. We just did not feel being taken good care of. We all thought: What a breathtaking location but what a pity! With the right service and gastronomic concept, this may certainly be a big hit!

      My husband and I and our two adult daughters had a wonderful weekend at the Hotel Vitznaurhof. The location is stunning! The view from our lake-facing corner room could not possibly have been better. We loved sitting on the balcony watching the sunset over the lake. The service and ambiance at the hotel was top-notch. Breakfast was substantial and scrumptious. One minor downside was that the mountain facing room was smaller than expected, with a small double bed instead of the twin beds that we asked for, but in no way did this spoil our weekend. We drove to Weggis for a more casual but equally delicious dinner at one of the restaurants there. Would highly recommend the scenic drive from Vitznau to Brunnen and beyond. All in all, a fabulous weekend. Thank you to the Vitznaurhof team.

      This was a stop over trip to break up the driving to South of France. We arrived at 4am and staff were alert and ready to check us in. The hotel was clean and staff were friendly. The staff definitely went the extra mile during our stay. The room was a suite facing the sea which was great. If the room had a dinning room table would have helped with room service orders. There was only a 2 seater table as well as a coffee table. The indoor / outdoor pool was epic. I definitely will return without the kids to really enjoy the spa facilities. We also went to riggi mountain which was great as well. It was -2 on the ground but like summer in the mountains. Loved every minute of it. Food at the grill restaurant was incredible. I have never eaten cauliflower like that before 🤯🤯🤯.

      Wanting a calm retreat ? Don’t stay here. Although the restaurant is really good, the soundproofing is not existing in the rooms. We had a room 3 floors above the restaurant and we were disturbed by the chairs of the restaurant sliding between 7 to 10 am and 6 to 10 pm. And that was in the room with a view on the lake. Also, the hotel is non-smoking, but they put ashtrays on the balcony. Unfortunately our room neighbors spent the evenings/nights smoking like chimneys, and that disgusting cigarette smoke was coming into our room through the balcony window. And on the other side of the hotel the road has some heavy trafic. Oh, the delivery truck at 5 am is noisy too. And the cleaning ladies were talking very loud (one shouted a big “Scheisse” which surprised/shocked me and another couple in the hallway). It’s a shame, because the rest of the staff is really really nice, but it’s not a hotel to rest.

      I tried to get to 4 out of 5, but need to be honest. The hotel isnt responsible for the view and the view makes up for a lot of negatives in the hotel. Check in was friendly and quick and we had the key to our room on the 4th floor no more than 5 minutes after we arrived. Parking was a bit of a search because we arrived on a sunday during lunchtime and apparently this is a popular time to have lunch at that hotel. The room we got is on the 4th floor and is a standard room with lakeview. The room is very tiny! Washbasin is in the room and the shower and toilet are separate but really tiny space too! If you are with 2 and you have your luggage then the room is completely filled up and no space to store anything. There is a ventilator, but no airconditioning. But thats OK. we could open the window and the fresh breeze over the lake came into the room. But also the mosquitos! So maybe they can place some mosquito net in front of the window? There is a watercooker in the room, but with a very short powercord, so the only place where we could use it was on the washbasin, but that was not very stable. The bed was not comfy, hard and the pillows are non existent. The wifi was good and fast! Then breakfast. It was a "buffet", but it was very limited. Some bread you need to cut yourself, thats OK, but with Covid? And the rest was just some cheeses and meats, some sweet things and thats it. Coffee was from a machine and juice from a tap. It was ok, but not really memorable. We didnt have dinner here because we read some reviews and watched what other guests ordered and compared prices and we decided not to do it. Check out was not really check out, it was just paying the bill and thats it. The desk agent didnt ask how our stay was or wasn't interested at all. So all in all too much things I dont like about a hotel at this price level. The views and location is priceless thats true. But it was like that the hotel is managed without passion. Thats a bit sad.

      We spent just one night but the direct connection with the SPA and the friendly and uncomplicated staff gave us a fantastic experience. Our 2 kids of 10 and 9 years old had a separate but adjoined room. Rooms spotless and very confy beds. Only negative note was a missing fan into the closed bathroom. We could use the SPA the last day till the end of the day, if we wished to stay and hotel provided all linen for the family. We chose a formula with breakfast included and we regaled ourself a very copious one. We had dinner at the restaurant and the ordered dishes were just delicious! Plenty of excursions possibilities in the surronding area and view on the Alpis was outstanding from the room as well as from the thermal bath. Highly recommended
