Stayed two nights for business. Was upgraded based on Titanium Bonvoy membership to a Deluxe room overlooking the lake. The rooms are beautifully remodeled with nice furnishings, updated bathrooms and little amenities you’d expect from a higher end Marriott hotel. The staff at the valet, front desk, restaurant and, housekeeping were all very accommodating. While they are all still learning their jobs (only open 8 days during my stay), they were great. Only suggestions are for the restaurant - suggest a few more lower-carb option and the glasses of wine were very small - 4 sips for $15 Hahn was disappointing but the food was fantastic and service great! Great having a Marriott right on Main St verses only the Courryard. I’m in LP monthly so I plan to stay often. Nice having access to run around the lake, stroll on Main St and many dining options nearby (although I like the restaurants in Saranac Lake a bit better - try Bitters & Bones for a fun bar/restaurant scene) Great job on this new hotel!

The Crowne Plaza is my favorite place to stay in Lake Placid, or I guess I should say ***was*** my favorite place to stay. I booked a trip for Christmas 2021, but had to postpone bc of covid exposure. The folks at the booking site were lovely and pushed my stay out until my birthday weekend, this past weekend, with the assurances that I would receive the same room and room rate. I get to the property and discover that my room is now $100 more expensive per night and I would have to fight with the booking site to get my money back. Fine. Whatever. They then take us to one of the oldest rooms facing the hvac on the roof instead of the lake view in the newer section that I had booked. And that was the last straw. I asked the desk to switch us to a better room and they did, but it still was in the older portion of the building. Put it all behind me, went to enjoy the weekend. Ate dinner in the great room and breakfast in the dining room and both times the hotel charged my room, not only for my meal, but another party's meal as well. The second charge they reversed immediately, the first charge is still pending in my account for over $100. I noticed the charges as they were coming through my account and alerted the front desk immediately. They were snippy and unhelpful, telling me there was nothing they could do and that the charges were just pending and would fall off. Now. I'm a banker of nearly a decade. Charges 'falling off' happen over night. The charges should be out of my account now. And they're not. So, I phoned the hotel, and again, got angry customer service and no resolution to the problem other than 'it will fall off in 5-7 business days'. So, not only does this hotel have an extra $200 of my money from the overcharged room, they have fraudulently charged my card for a meal someone else ordered, another $100+. Now, I've been in customer service for over 15 years. Had my employer overcharged a customer or wrongly charged a customer, my entire staff and I would be horrified and apologetic and rectified the situation immediately. And also provided the customer with some sort of remuneration for the time and trouble they spent bc of our malfeasance. Bc that is what you do. If businesses want to survive covid, they're going to have to make sure their customer service is buttoned up tight. This was a major disappointment in a lovely town. Advice: if you're staying at the hotel and eat in the restaurants, don't give the restaurant staff your room number when they ask and only pay cash so they can't mistakenly charge your card for someone else's order.

I’ve been coming to LP for over 40 years and stayed at various hotels and camps . I was looking for something newer and saw this hotel driving by it the last time we visited. We had a standard room with no balcony which didn’t overlook the lake. You need to book when there’s no sports event etc going on for a better choice. The room was clean, bed was quite comfortable , ac kept the room super cool. For the price, breakfast buffet was included. This was good and very convenient. We enjoyed the busy location for a change . Normally we like total quiet but this time it was fun to watch everyone enjoying themselves on the beach etc. It’s convenient to walk into town too. I didn’t care for the typical hotel pillows that squash to nothing but next time we will bring our own.. No biggie. The staff was interested in making sure yourre pleased and were helpful to us. It's certainly not the most luxurious place in Lake Placid, but the Rodeway Inn is a lovely hotel which exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and modern and came with all the expected accouterments (fridge, coffee machine, new TV, etc.)...except a microwave. That was slightly inconvenient, but if I needed something nuked I went to the lobby. Another slight quirk was that the complimentary breakfast menu varies depending on the day of the week. On weekdays breakfast is served in the lobby (where there is 1 small table and 3 chairs) and consisted of coffee, tea, toast, English muffins, apples and honey buns. On weekends breakfast was served in a large room in the main building and included three different kinds of cereal, pancakes, bananas, and orange juice. No complaints. The facility had a laundry room, and indoor pool and meeting areas and still has a Bible in the nightstand. I liked this place and my whole family said they would prefer the Rodeway even if we had the opportunity to stay somewhere else. P.S. front desk worker Cece was particularly amiable and helpful.
