The two bedroom-apartment was in itself not a bad deal considering the price level for July in the area. It was rather spacious and the standard was fairly good. Maybe it could have been better cleaned upon check-in. The late check-in time of 17.00 is simply too late - it's not good enough as the apartments are marketed as suitable for families. The wifi was unreliable and at times not working at all. The pool on the roof is a major draw for families with kids, and we found it to be pleasant and not too crowded. Having to fill out an inventory list is a hassle. The company has received major criticism for its policy of charging guests extra for bed linen and towels. Bring you own towels, as it halves this extra cost. Be aware of the extra cost and add it to the price before you decide to book, so as to avoid surprises. The overall price including these extras is still rather good value.

This was a surprise for my 50th Birthday from my partner, just for 3 days.... Upon arrival Martin came to welcome us and showed us around the restaurant and took us to our room, carrying our luggage which was so lovely and helpful. They had upgraded us to a room with a balcony and stunning view which we are so very grateful for. It made our stay even more special... Room was beautiful as was the linen and bed was incredibly comfortable, happily could have stayed in bed for much longer than intended. Breakfast was varied with fresh fruit, salmon, fresh juice, cooked breakfast, different pastries and breads - very enjoyable indeed. Coffee was great too! My only disappointment is that we weren't able to eat there on either night of our stay. We'd booked in for the first night on my birthday but this was cancelled as they had a function on., but they tried to accommodate us as best they could, offering food to our room and then booking us in another restaurant which was very helpful of Martin. Sadly the night emergency porter wasn't on duty on our final night, since we experienced issues with flights due to the storm. Unable to book a taxi from the hotel was very stressful at 5am and frustrating, especially with a language barrier and nearly missed our flight .... Just would have been less stressful if the night porter was on to handle our taxi booking. We were also given a complimentary bottle of wine too which was so lovely!! Honestly, overall the staff couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful. We both feel very privileged to have stayed in such a beautiful location. Do visit the castle and the church, both are amazing and the restaurants in the square are wonderful too. As with any new destination, you need a few days to find your rhythm and get a feel for what to do and what not to do... but we loved it! Fully recommended a stay there and I'd like to return in the future xx Claire and Stef ♥️ Thank you to Chateau Le Cagnard for hosting our stay!! x

Check-in is from 4pm. We arrived at 2.30 but just grabbed a coffee at one of the many nearby cafes/restaurants until it opened. Very nice and humorous chap checked us in. We mentioned we wanted to practise our French so he refused to speak English to us while we there - worked a treat! Room was immaculately clean and beds very comfortable. It was very small, but we knew that beforehand. Towels and toiletries ok, shower a little cramped for me. Great position, literally a 2 minute walk to beach and very close to lots of restaurants/bars/cafes. About 15 minute walk to Hippodrome. It’s not too close to the ‘city centre’ but we used Ubers (pretty cheap) and free coastal bus a lot. Well worth visiting are Renoir’s house and the medieval town at Haut Cagnes-sur-Mer (go to Jimmys restaurant here - great view and food). Finally, 10 minutes away from airport but 30 euros(!) in a taxi. Uber back to airport 15 euros.

Just left this gorgeous intimate French style hotel. Didn't want to leave. From check in to check out everything was perfect for myself and my 8 year old son. We arrived late on wed 26th Sept at 10pm in the evening. Although the reception closes at 8 the owners were both there to greet us. Even spending time to explain where we could get to by bus and train and what to see. Helped us upto a lovely double room with our bags. The rooms are tastefully decorated and absolutely spotless. Bathroom is perfect and has everything you need. Our rooms were cleaned daily. The balcony was lovely to open up to in the morning. Breakfast was offered at a reasonable 10euros but we didn't take it as we liked to get up and out early. Seeing the breakfast on display I wish we had. The owners of the hotel are just lovely and can't do enough for you. Even to giving us a roll out mat for the beach. You can hire beach towels from them for 3 euros each which is great as you can keep them all week if you wish but remember to them back. Will definitely be back to this jewel of a hotel next year. Thank you so much. Emma and Riley xx

Very limited parking, not secure. First come, first serve. Perhaps my mistake, but missed the fact the hotel was directly on a busy road. I did have a sea view. The double-pane windows did help, but not during the day. Could not use the balcony due to noise. Thankfully a bit off-season so not much traffic at night, and there is air conditioning. Mold in the shower, the tiniest room ever. Thank goodness I was alone! Very friendly staff, check-in, coffee shop, and restaurant. Enjoyed the hotel restaurant across the road, directly on the beach. Good food, which was a relief because there are limited restaurants when going by foot. Hotel is directly across from a beautiful beach, and they have their own private beach. But that's it, if you are a person who doesn't sit in a beach chair all day, there is not much else to do here on foot.

Very unfriendly staff. We, my husband and I, did not feel welcome. The check-in process needs to be improved. At the check-in time, the very first words from the receptionist were that we were upgraded to the 3-bedroom apartment. We said that we never asked for it, as we were just 2 people, and we wanted just what we booked a long time in advance and paid for: 3 nights in Superior 1- bedroom apartment with a balcony and pool VIEW. And we paid more money specifically for the VIEW. We also specified that we would prefer to stay on the higher floors, like a picture on the hotel website displayed. Despite of that, the receptionists said that nothing is available except this 3-bedroom apartment to which they “upgraded” us. However, the hotel was only half-occupied, the garage was almost empty and it was off-season time. We were very disappointed when we got to this 3-bedroom apartment. It was on the GROUND floor with NO VIEW at all. Instead of a balcony, there was a small patio surrounded by very high bushes with no view. I returned to the reception and strongly rejected to stay in this apartment. After a while, the manager brought us to another, 2- bedroom apartment on the 2 floor with the pool view. I thanked her and this would be the end of the story, if… If the manager suddenly did not say that she did it only because SHE (the manager), is so nice and she actually did a favor to us. And then she added that it’s final, don't even think about more changes. So, my question is: "How come that the hotel sold an apartment which we already booked and paid a long time in advance?" A safe in the apartment was closed when we check-in. We called the reception but the answer was that it's weekend and no one can come to fix it.

What a great find and a super little spot. This is a smaller hotel occupying the first and ground floor of an appartment building. The service from the managers Barbara and Arnaud Lecompte and their small staff is excellent and we loved the golden lab Ramises who greets guests in the lobby. The hotel is opposite the beach and the Cote-de-zur Hippodrome and the bus stop to Nice is five steps out the front door. We had an ocean facing room with a good size balcony with a table and two chairs, The room is airconditioned, has a fridge and had two glass sliding doors providing double glazing. there is also a shutter screen that can be lowered for privacy and to darken the room. There are also sheers to protect your privacy. The room has a fridge and safe and good wi-fi. The rooms show a little wear and tear but are spotlessly clean My only word of caution if having room 7 is that stepping into the bath to use the shower could be a little difficult if your are not too mobile. I am not sure about the rest of the rooms. Breakfast is available at the property. There are lots of restaurants in the vicinity and an excellent laundrymat a couple of hundred metres away. There are some brillian boulangeries and a coupld of supermarkets in close vicinity for supplies, baguettes, cheese, wine etc. The main train station is an easy 10 minute stroll and the trains accesses up and down the riviera regularly. The Renoir museam and the old medieval town (Bourg) are an easy walk as is the Chateau Grimaldi. If going to Monaco, I recommend using the train as the bus can be slo but the views are spectacular. I would also recommend visiting Menton and walking into Italy for a drink. If going to Nice, use the bus. The International Airport is about 4 kms away but will cost between 30 and 35 Euros by taxi. If you have an early flight like we did you need to book a taxi as they don't generally run late at night or the early morning. You can use the bus except Sunday. If going to the beautiful village of Saint-Paul-du-Vence, the bus is the number 400. The stop is on the same street as the train station but about 300 metres towards Nice or the town side. It is not the bus stop outside the train station as we found out. We were so pleased to have found this hotel and had a great time. Wish it could have been longer. Loved sitting with a wine on the balcony watching the world and the super yachts cruise by. Hotel also has a lift.
