We ended up staying at Hanajukai pretty much by accident, as the heavy rainfall of July 2018 made it impossible to reach our hotel in the Iya valley. Our decision to spend the night here turned out to be one of the best of our stay in Japan, however. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a stunning location up a steep hillside overlooking Takamatsu city, and remarkable attention to detail within. If you keep your eyes open, you will find yourself endlessly running into little decorative pieces, terrariums and all sorts of fascinating things. The rooms are wonderful, with a perfect combination of Japanese tradition and modern convenience (and, again, the stunning panoramic views of the city). The kaiseki dinner in the restaurant was also delicious (not to the extent that I would recommend anyone come here for the food alone, however). As indicated by the title of my review, the staff were the highlight of our stay, though. Incredible attention to detail (even by Japanese standards), combined with genuine warmth and a more personal touch than in most Japanese hotels. I cannot recommend this hotel enough, and will definitely stay here again if I ever have the pleasure of returning to Takamatsu.

It takes only two minutes to go to Kawaramachi station. The guest house is near the biggest and busy shopping area in Takamatsu. Besides, it offers comfortable environment of accommodation. It is definitely a good place to stay in Takamatsu. 來高松將近一個禮拜,Traditional House 十分便利,位在高松市中心的瓦町車站旁邊。Host人也非常Nice,英文日文皆可溝通 住宿環境也相當不錯

It’s a really small surprise hotel. It is only a 5-minute walk away from Lilin Park. I didn’t expect to sleep. However, I saw the elegant and dry home clothes in the room (and changed every day), and there was a feathered blue coat in the closet. It was dignified and flat, and I was wearing it in the hotel. Needless to say, if it is small, but the space is reasonable, the aisle can be completely opened to the chassis, and the bathroom is also standard on the Japanese. Wifi is stable, small appliances are equipped with 6 pieces, the air conditioner goes out continuously, and the automatic light entering the door has 3 functions to be adjusted, and there are 7 sockets in several rooms! On the second night, I used a self-service laundry service, washing 300 yen, cleaning agent 100 yen, drying 100 yen, and the clothes came out with a new look. I regret that I should throw all the washable items in the box. No breakfast at the hotel, there is a microwave, drink and cup noodle vending machine on the second floor reception and on the first floor elevator. The first floor parking lot is next to a high-stakes bakery! Open at 7am! (Japanese cafes are mostly opened at 11 o'clock) Every day, freshly baked European bread is used for breakfast, and the morning light is spent! Finally, the service, the front desk is mostly older Ogisang and Obasan, basically do not speak English. The front desk has a list of English FAQs to solve various problems. Check out I wrote a note on the day and asked the hotel to call taxi to the JR station, which is also smooth and accessible. All in all, it is a very pleasant stay, especially for backpackers and business travellers with small luggage. Have the opportunity to live and taste the breakfast next time🥣

Hotel location is good, opposite is Lilin Park, the park is large, people are small, the air is very good. The airport line goes directly to the hotel and then walks about 300 meters to the opposite side of the road. Although there is a little distance to the pier and JR, the hotel has free bicycles to borrow and it is super convenient. This whole bicycle has replaced the walking. The first day, because I don’t know the way to Hyogo-cho, I actually ride a bicycle from the back of the hotel. Go and ride less than 5 minutes.

We like to stay in Dormy Inns for the public baths and evening ramen, but sometimes the rooms are too small for our liking. We will only book the largest room they offer which usually suits our needs. Check-in was easy even though we arrived early and had the hotel hold our luggage while we walked around the neighborhood. The very helpful staff gave us information on area supermarkets and suggested the best one, Marunaka, even though it was a bit further away. We accidentally left a cane on the table of the free coffee service and when we went to retrieve it it was gone. A staff member had found it and brought it to the front desk for safe keeping. Our room was clean and comfortable as we expect from all Dormy Inns. We choose the “no daily cleaning” option and were given fresh towels and amenities daily for our 3 night stay. We don’t need clean sheets each night. The public baths were excellent for both men and women and they are natural hot springs not just hot bath water. The hotel is quite new and everything was very spiffy. The evening free ramen [and beer or soda (not great beer, but free!)] is standard Dormy Inn fare. We always buy additional toppings, vegetables and a salad to go along with the noodles to make a meal of it. The supermarket was a ten minute walk, by no means impossible. It is one the shopping street right near the hotel. There is a Family Mart just across the street if you don’t want to walk further afield. It is an easy 15-20 minute walk to Ritsurin Garden, which makes this location ideal for a garden visit. The station for our day trip train was close by, but the JR statiion is not. A taxi is necessary to get to JR station if you have luggage. One final bit of advice: take care when booking - there are 2 Dormy Inns in Takamatsu, this one and an older one (Dormy Inn Takamatsu) in a different part of the city.

The staff spoke good English and were able to provide suggestion of restaurants that spoke English too. The deco is nice and homey. We stayed at a private room for 3. The amenity is basic but gets the job done. The shared shower room is clean. Shower is strong enough with stable hot water. The only downside is that the wall is not sound-proof. Unluckily our next door neighbors checked out at 4am and I got waken up by the noise. But this is something expected in a small guest house.

All are very good, the only downside is that there is no shower in the room, the public shower room is open space, and there is no privacy in the Japanese small bathhouse. I don't really like this kind of bathhouse, so if you don't like the public open-air bathhouse, this store is not recommended.

All good. Only thing is that they charge a crazy 790 yen for a single espresso and 1580 for a double espresso!!! I tried to explain them many times that they should not charge double the price, that it was outreageous. The single espresso was very good and concentrated, but they made it 1cm long, when I asked them just to make it longer, they refused, saying that then would become a double espresso and should charge double. Had to explain many times double espresso charge is based on double the portion of coffee, not water. By the end one waitress gave up on me and allowed me to have during my stay a longer single espresso.... what a nightmare coffee in Japan!!!

Hotel has a luxurious appearance, very quiet and peaceful. Staff were very polite and helpful. Rooms were small but comfortable, quilt was a bit too warm for the time of year. Nice amenities, but no fitness centre. Breakfast was a combination of small buffet and hot option served at your table. Club room was really nice to come back to at the end of the day, and enjoy a complimentary drink and nibbles (hot rice with toppings, a couple of tapas, chocolate, nuts and veg crisps). Very good location, within easy walking distance of the train station and a good choice of restaurants offering different cuisines.

Stayed for 2 nights in early February and we both very please for the stay. Buffet breakfast in the 2nd floor was outstanding in terms of quality and variety, even the most picky person should have no problem to find their favorite items. Room was very clean and comfy, both rain shower and bath basin were included, the shower place was as cosy as most top rated resort hotel. A massage chair inside of the room was also a nice touch. Don't look around, just book for a stay there.

A four-star hotel with a good value for money, and the service environment is really good, right next to the entrance of the commercial street. The airport bus leads directly to the hotel. Walk to Takamatsu Station and the port are very close (turn left from the hotel and go straight), you can visit Takamatsu Castle by the way. Take a city bus to the bus stop across the road to Lilin Park. The hotel has a restaurant, which looks good. There are breakfast coupons at check-in (front desk at 2F), and local wines are also tasted free in the lobby. If you want to save some money, you can go to the commercial street to eat a pine house.

I've been travelling around Japan and as far as capsule hotels go this one is up there. Very stylish and modern. The capsule is quite large, has a curtain, an led torch, a mirror, hangers, a shelf, plug and light dimmer inside of it. You are also given a towel and slippers. The toilets and shower are fantastic and clean and they even have Dyson hairdryers which dry your hair very quickly! I stayed on the 11th floor (women only) and the view was amazing. There is also a full kitchen where you can cook food (includes oil and salt and pepper) as well as a fridge freezer, micro and kettle and of course a drinks vending machine! You also have luggage storage with a lock and a large locker (although it won't fit a laptop but probably an ipad). Would definitely recommend this place. It's close to a long shopping street and is about 20mins walk from Takamatsu train Station.
