|10.51km from city centerEverything from beginning to the end was positive in our opinion. We were very excited for visiting the hotel in our 3 weeks trip around the island, and it was all superb: registration, lobby, views, swimming pool, garden, room … everything!!! But staff was even much better. There is a lot of people in the place and didn´t get to know all of them, but everyone’s attitude was always in a good mode. Jambooo !! Mr. Abdul ‘s welcome was excellent on arrival. He was very nice and charming, calm and helpful with the information about the hotel facilities. Mr. Abdillahi took us to our room with the golf cart, so nice person, helping with our heavy cases and showing all the items in our room. Thank you so much. Breakfast and restaurant staff was always nice, same as garden and swimming pool employees. Live music at dinner time was a great moment too. Thank you also to housekeeping, our room was in a perfect condition every day. And at the end, Simai and Hamidi, both bellboys were very nice and funny with us. Also, a special mention to front office manager, Mr. Javier Gonzalez, we experienced amazing customer service from him. Thank you very much to the whole team. We would really come back and will definitely recommend the place. Ahsante sana !!!!!

It is a hotel of a human size whose staff and owner really take care of their clients, and that is whatever the time of day or night. The hotel is very comfortable and the hotel is very comfortable. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. I thank Mr ALI in particular for having welcomed and taken care of making our stay pleasant, as well as his team MWINYI AND MWANTAMA, EMMACULETA, RAJAB (and its super pancakes), HASSAN, ABDULRAHMAN, and all the others I've not mentioned. |0.51km from city centerStayed @ Smiles Beach Hotel for 3 nights, 4 days. Meal plan was Half board (Breakfast & Dinner). Road Access The road to the hotel starts off ok, but towards the middle has HUGE pot holes and after rain it’s completely filled up with mud. The driver has to move very slowly to avoid any damage to the car. On arrival On arrival we were greeted warmly with a nice cold drink, check in was quick and we were taken to our rooms. We booked 2 rooms. Both were located upstairs but not in the same building. To get to the rooms we have to climb a spiral staircase. Rooms The upper floor has 2 rooms side by side. The room door is a split door with a sliding lock and a padlock. There were a few outdoor furniture in the balcony area. The room itself looked very clean and smelled clean. Coffee & tea station, LCD TV, Mini Fridge, Safety deposit box. The bed is built in to the room. The orientation of the bed is wired. I am an average height guy, 5’8”, and when I lie down t sleep, from my ankle down is off the bed. But if the bed was orientated the other way, there would be more than enough room. The rooms are old and needs some TLC, ceiling is wood and black dirt keeps falling from the cracks. We were told that the room service will come over around 7.30 at every night to “turn down” the room. Technically, spray some bug spay outside the room door and setup the mosquito nets. From our 3 nights, this happened only on the last day. That too, the net had a 1cm hole. Bathroom Pretty large bathroom, basic toiletries available (No body lotion or dental kit). The toilets are clean. The sink is a little on the high side. If there are children, it’s a bit hard to reach to brush teeth etc. Garden, pool and private beach front Garden is kept very neat and tidy. We saw a gardener every morning sweeping the grounds. Pool is clean. The tiles on the outside of the pool were cracked and need to be careful while walking. Especially with bare feet. Private beach front is nice and clean. Its, on a higher elevation so you get a nice view. Hawkers and Masai beach boys The are friendly, but can become a bit annoying after some time. So best advice is to be polite, say no thank you. (they are not allowed in the private beach area) Food & Restaurant Breakfast was not bad, it’s a buffet style menu and had a decent variety, each morning something different. Sometimes in the morning there a few flies around and will hover over the fresh fruit. Dinner was a la carte menu and different for each day as well. The downside is that the food quality drops when they have more occupancy. The biggest issue we had was the meal service times. We had to wait almost 1 hour between entree and main and another 45 min for dessert. This was the case every day. There are few felines (cats) inside the restaurant premises. They roam freely and sometimes come and rub themselves on your legs. There were a few other guests that were not very comfortable with this. Also note thi

|1.01km from city centerWe spent 3 unforgettable weeks in this cozy hotel! And we never had any doubts about the correctness of our choice, because here we received everything we needed for a vacation! Breakfast is very hearty, varied, there is always fresh fruit and juice. The staff is attentive to the guests. The rooms are cleaned daily, the girls work hard, so the room is very clean! The rooms themselves are large, spacious, bright, very comfortable beds, we got a good night's sleep. The room has a kettle, refrigerator, safe, boiler. A very large balcony on which you can put a sun lounger and sleep there at night) The soundproofing of the rooms is excellent, we have never heard the neighbors. The hotel area is small, but well-groomed, passion fruit grows (it grows like grapes). The pool is deep, you can safely dive, it is cleaned every day. Wi-Fi works stably throughout the entire territory. The hotel owners monitor the order and well-being of the guests every day, they are very attentive and caring. Thanks to such a sincere atmosphere, it was sad to leave! Thank you to all the hotel staff for your care, attention and help!

|15.96km from city centerThe hotel was in a good location, 10mins from sea turtles! The staff were lovely and very polite. The room for the most part was cleaned, however they did forget to clean the room and after a reminder on the Riu APP they came and cleaned it whilst we were at dinner. There is food in abundance .at the designated restaurant in the resort. However, when we arrived (around 10pm) from the airport we had no food options on arrival as the hotel does not offer room service and we had to wait until morning for a proper meal. The Spa was amazing! The beach was great. The entertainment was really good too

The decoration style is very modern. There are more than a dozen houses without elevators. They are like a scenic spot, in fact they are. In this way, you should bring a bracelet after you come in. The facilities in the hotel and the swimming pool can be used. All meals are included, and unlimited drinks and beverages are included. It is a good place for leisure and vacation.

|1.25km from city centerVery good resort. Facilities are top quality and well-maintained. Food was very yummy, although breakfast could offer more variety for a 5-star hotel (e.g. there was no smoked salmon for breakfast - I consider salmon to be standard at 5-star hotels catering to international clientele). Staff are well-trained and very professional. The resort also offers spa services as well as tour bookings, but we did not avail of these. For our travel dates the all-inclusive package on trip.com was by far the best value for money compared to booking directly or through any other website. One potential area for improvement is the provision of a mini rack on the balcony/veranda where guests can hang up wet clothes after a tour - would be a nice thing, which I've seen at some other resorts, as some guests just want their clothes to dry, not necessarily washed.

|7.88km from city centerThe hotel is a very nice hotel with a nice view of the famous Pwani beach. The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and is very comfortable. Des serviettes de piscine/strand sont mis à disposition dans la chambre à l'arrivée. Grande bouteille d'eau tous les jours. The whole team is adorable, the household is just perfectly done every day, even several times a day... The breakfast at the map ”made home” every morning is delicious. I would just like to have a little more choice after 1 week on site, but we really gave ourselves in all cases. Exits can be organised (we have made Mnemba and Jozani) everything was very easy thanks to the reactivity of the Manager and his assistant... I can really only recommend a stay in this peacekeeper ! I was a nice one to have a romantic dinner, and I would remember it long! The hotel is a very good place to find a peaceful place.

|0.42km from city centerWe stayed here for 8 days. The property is aging and trying to maintain its charm. The staff are generally friendly and trying to elevate the guest experience. However, our stay was less than stellar missing the mark for what we have come to expect at a Hilton property. The beach vendors are extremely aggressive and not deterred by the security, several bartenders are working deals to reduce bar tabs in favor of their personal tips, and hot water in the shower was unreliable - varied morning to evening with no determined pattern or schedule. The menu at the property was also a disappointment. It was the same menu at the various places to order food, and the supply chain seemed to suffer while we were there and menu items became unavailable while the remaining food quality diminished daily over the course of our stay. We actually opted to leave the property and eat elsewhere toward the end of the week. Beyond these issues, the lack of ability for the property staff to provide change was a constant issue. Everything on the property is tip based and local ATM and banks only distribute larger bills in local currency. This limits our desire to tip, or leave us overtipping with the available bills we could acquire. The property seemed to have no ability or desire to assist us as guests, just hoping we would use larger bills. Overall, we are disappointed with Hilton and would not recommend to stay at this property.

|18.06km from city center5 stars for the location, barely 4 for the rest.
Beautiful looking hotel, good location, wonderful swimming pool, nice pier and the little islets for the rooms are quite nice.
For the rooms it's another story, it may have been a 5 star 10 years ago but not today.
Furniture stained and user, ditto for bedding, average cleanliness. Overall it deserves a major renovation to regain 5 stars. We had to ask to change rooms…
Average but correct food, a big plus for the Jetty restaurant whose dishes are simply excellent.
In short, in summary the value for money is very average, if you have this kind of budget, take another 5 *, otherwise pay less and take a nice 4 * at half price.

|7.34km from city centerJafferji Beach Retreat Hotel is an amazing place for you and your family and/or partner to relax and enjoy. The location is unbelievable, right next to a beautiful sandy beach. The activities offered are snorkelling and diving, but you can also organise one-day trips to other parts of the island, as well. In the hotel itself, you can enjoy incredibly good and fresh food. The pool is quite nice, not very big but not too small, either. There's a small spa where the kind beautician/masseuse will offer a whole variety of treatments. Maurizio the manager and all his staff are very nice and super available. Mr Munisi, Witness, Tumaini, Margareth and all the others will always be there to help with a big smile. They will make sure you feel at home! I honestly couldn't recommend the hotel enough, it is a 4+ stars hotel experience at the price of a 3 stars. Amazing value for the money.

Shout out to Fazil and Saloum (apologies if i spelt wrong), and in fact all the staff for making our stay memorable. some points to note. Pool is fairly small and salt water, beach is rocky and breakfast is not buffet (choose items you want and cooked fresh - less waste) but that didn’t stop us from having a most memorable family holiday.

|14.91km from city centerMy husband and I stayed at Gold Zanzibar for 6 days for our honeymoon. Everything was amazing and beyond our expectations! The room was super clean, and the food was amazing. We also got two coupons for dinner and a massage as a present for honeymoon, which was just a cherry on top! But the reason, the resort will stay in our heart forever, is the staff at the hotel. They were all so nice and really made us feel like at home. I would like to mention Jackson from the reception, who always helped us with the right answers and Issa from the restaurant who welcomed us with smile. In the evening, the staff from towel center played volleyball with us, so we got an opportunity to meet and hang out with them. They were all so nice and kind, especially mr. Said who put a smile on our face everyday. Staying and Gold Zanzibar really was an experience of a lifetime!

Each and every staff we encountered over our 9 day stay was helpful, warm and accommodating. I have never felt so at home so quickly as I did at Kasha Boutique Hotel. One staff in particular, Godbless, stood out to my family and me. We were lucky to have had him as our waiter throughout our stay. He not only was always polite and kind, but offered helpful and personal insight about the surroundings, culture and customs. Godbless is such an incredible worker and dynamic person. Thank you for making our trip so memorable. Looking forward to our next stay at Kasha Boutique Hotel.

|10.72km from city centerMe and my husband stayed at The Mora for 5 nights as a second part of our trip in Tanzania and Zanzibar. Started off to a rocky start, we acknowledged we arrived to the hotel early as our flight from mainland Tanzania into Zanzibar was at 6am, and we was happy to relax and chill out in the lobby until check-in time. Our check-in time was 2pm but apparently the guests that were staying in our suite 'went missing' according to staff, so we actually did not get checked-in to our room until around 2:45pm. By this time, we were exhausted and quite irritable. The reception staff were very attentive to make sure we were ok and to keep us updated. Once we got to the room, it seemed to have been prepared for us in a rush. It was clean, but there was no shampoo in the bathroom and the minibar had no drinks. We had to chase up twice in an hour to get some drinks in. As for the room, we stayed in the Superior Suite Ocean View with jacuzzi. For the most part it was a lovely room, the only downside was the shower. It had orange mould in the corners and the shower floor tiles did not look like they had been cleaned properly. There was also an awful stench coming from the drain within the shower, we had to move one of the room diffusers into there as it was unbearable. For a 5* hotel, this is quite unacceptable. It would be nice if there was more shelf space in the shower too. Housekeeping were very pleasant and always said ”Jambo” in the morning which was lovely. However, I don't think they are doing an adequate job of actually cleaning the rooms. A lot of the days our room wasn't even mopped and you could see the dirt from our shoes on the floor from the day before. Often our room would be serviced but no towels would be left for us which was a little bit annoying, especially after returning from a day by the pool. The pool and beach areas are really nice, we didn't have issues with finding a sunbed, and members of staff were always there to assist if it was busy. Sometimes service for beverages or water was a little bit slow and we had to approach the bar to order but this was not a massive issue for us. Occasionally, towels for the poolside had run out by 10:30am and sometimes we would be waiting a significant amount of time for fresh ones to be brought out. The beach is nice and clean and the diving excursion to Mnemba Island was a lot of fun, Suleman was a great snorkelling guide. Because our check-in was delayed, we could not book our food in advance via the app. This system is awful. Its extremely stressful to rush to book your slots. To our horror, we saw there was no availability for our whole stay in any of the hotel restaurants. My husband approached reception and spoke to Anna who was extremely helpful for the duration of our stay. Anna made our stay very personable and managed to help us book slots in the restaurants. She constantly checked up on us which really nice and also left us a lovely note in our room on our anniversary. We was also re

The ecological environment is very good. You can see all kinds of marine life when you catch the sea. I even saw a family of sea anemones and clownfish.
The disadvantage is that the room is relatively small and the facilities are relatively simple

|7.39km from city centerJust returned from one of the best holiday so far in Tanzania. After spending the first week in the mainland safari and sightseeing we travelled to Zanzibar by ferry and after two days in Stone town and a visit to Jozani natural park, a friend and I spent the remainder of our holiday in this beautiful accommodation. Anton, his wife, and their team are running the place beautifully. Very warm welcome, very comfortable accommodation, tasty and varied breakfast and delicious food (many compliments to the Head chef and chef Nasra for her amazing cooking and beautiful smile). In times like the current one we all need support and while we go through this unprecedented global situation, please do not stop dreaming about travelling. |0.43km from city centerSmall boutique hotel in Matemwe that has over the top service. I was there 2 weeks and after a few days they will call you by name. I was greeted at the gate by Mercy the lady running the place with a smile and hug. Facilities are nice and kept very clean. Separate beach area to keep the vendors from driving you crazy. Beautiful views. My only complaint was the food. I am a picky eater who doesn't eat fish or seafood so that ruled out a lot for me. Breakfast was a mix of to order and buffet items. After a few days I was dying for something different but we were not the typical customer who is only there for a few days before or after safari from what I gathered. Staff arranged a couple of wonderful private excursions for us that were well worth the money. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone who isn't a fussy eater like me. Staff made it absolutely wonderful and grounds are lovely. Huge shout out to Mercy, David and Dekker who went above and beyond for us.

|15.15km from city centerThe hotel is well located on Kendwa beach. It is a large hotel but the rooms are spaced out so it didn't feel busy. Although the rooms are clean, sadly, they are tired and not well maintained. Our shower door was cracked with a large shard of glass jutting out - had one slipped in the shower, this could have been very dangerous. We advised the hotel but they didn't do anything about it. The towels are old and worn through. The aircon units are particulary noisy so it was difficult to sleep at night with the noise. The wifi only worked in certain spots of the hotel and not in your rooms or in the public areas. The restaurant had a variety of options on the menu and the food was tasty. Service was quite slow. They are one of the few hotels on this ***** that allow guests from other hotels to use their pool and beach loungers so the place was often overcrowded and you waited a long time for service. Breakfast was mediocre and they charged extra for espresso coffee but they had instant coffee or filter available. The front desk staff are helpful but their roles are limited so there isn't much they can do if you point things out to them (such as broken shower door) but they are very helpful with things that are within their scope of duty.

|0.32km from city centerOverall a nice stay, lovely beach setting with beatiful pools with plenty of sunloungers around the pool and beach. Very picturesque! Was relatively quiet overall, though not situated in a great area for walking around and exploring (apart from the beach side which is stunning) Rooms are clean and pleasant and staff polite and try to help. Even after our flight was unexpectedly delayed they still waited and picked is up at the airport which was very much appreciated. Unfortunately for me it did however fall short of its boutique status. Several things such as taps and toilet roll holders fell off, had to ask every day for coffee/sugars to be refilled. The beds are solid/hard so if this isn't your preference i would be wary of this if staying more than a couple of nights... i got such a bad back that i asked at reception twice for a dry cushion from a sunlounger that i could perhaps use on top of my bed, despite saying this was no problem I actually never received it and resorted to using the cushions from my sunlounger from the room. (if you like a hard bed though then no problem, beds are personal preference so no reflection on the hotel for this, just something to note!) Breakfast was very meagre in their portion sizes for the price you are paying. The restaurant is lovely, situated by the pool and beach however very expensive and the food just average.... if you go right outside the resort there is a couple of small local restaurant selling authentic fresh food for a quater of the price which i would highly recommend and where we then started to eat every night. The hotel is super clean.. however having staff start cleaning and brushing outside your room waking you up at 6am every day was a little frustrating so perhaps a higher up room would be advised if you like a bit of a lie in. There is no air con... which it does state and we were aware of... however they do say the natural airflow is adequate... unfortunately not found to be the case... i had 3 fans in the room all of which they had on full time which didn't do very much and would have used more electric than necessary so sort of defeated the aim of being ecofriendly. I wouldnt recommend booking excursions or taxis through them. Very overpriced. They quoted us $90 for a taxi which we refused and got a local taxi driver for $40 instead and gave him a large tip putting the money straight into the locals. Overall a lovely place and despite my few shortfalls(which i was picky with due to the price and boutique status they advertise at) i would still recommend a stay here... just eat and book out with the locals!

|1.57km from city centerWe stayed at the Kena Beach hotel between December 19 and 29, 2023. The hotel and the garden are very beautiful, clean and well maintained. The rooms are large and offer all the conditions. The staff is very friendly and well trained. We also celebrated Christmas at this hotel. Everything was wonderful and well organized by the hotel manager. Everyone was wonderful but Elizabeth, George, Grace, Ramadhani and Khalfan made our holiday perfect. The food was very good and very carefully prepared by the chef. We had many fruits and delicious sweets prepared by Chef. The service was impeccable. Also the recreational activities were great thanks to Kani and Momo from Oclub, who were sensational. The hotel's private beach is wonderful, supervised and well maintained by the hotel staff. Mr. Kombo, who lives right in Matemwe village, organized some memorable trips for us. We want to return to Zanzibar and obviously, we will spend our vacation at this hotel again. We recommend the hotel to everyone who wants a perfect and peaceful vacation.
