Coming here in later September was gorgeous, I imagine this large hotel is quite busy in the Summer months, but in September it was lovely and quiet and we had the pool all to ourselves. Our room had a gorgeous view over Lago D’Orta and the island, plus we overlooked the remarkable pool on the lake. There is parking available underground and the staff was friendly. We were lucky to stay here on our anniversary and the hotel surprised us with a lovely bottle of Prosecco and nibbles to help us celebrate. Truly above and beyond and something so special we will remember forever. We had dinner in their restaurant which was a tasty night filled with beautifully prepared food and fine-dining service. Well located in the middle of the city, I recommend taking a sunset walk into the main square, grabbing a gelato and watching the sunset with the locals. It was a magical night.

Charming property sited above a charming village. Rooms were fine, with good electronic support, nice bath, and decent bed. Fridge in room. Tiny balcony with lovely view. Room not spacious, but not tight either. The pool is immaculate and the views from it spectacular. The walk to town is about 10 minutes, and there is a climb on the way back, but your payoff is sublime views and total quiet. The breakfast is quite good, with a maitre d. and really great views of Lago d' Orta. If you go out for the evening, you have to leave your (old-school) physical key at the desk. As we noshed on breakfast goodies, the hotel was setting up for a wedding reception, which looked beautiful and romantic. We felt like we were stealing a piece of the charm. Nota Bene: U. S. residents, you have to stop noting that European hotel reception staff don't speak English to your satisfaction, or are not effusively friendly. You're not in Texas. As we were checking out, the woman at the front desk was dealing with five couples departing: she switched from Italian to French and German, and then handled us in slightly broken English. It was my job to roll with it, and admire her for her proficiency. The world is not Disney.

I have fond memories of my stay here and hope to return. Everything was a pleasure, from the exquisite original moorish decor to the exceptionally helpful service. The free parking lot was secure, spacious, and convenient. The delicious breakfast (made to order and brought to the table, not buffet-style) was served in a long, narrow garden gallery. There are plenty of wonderful sights nearby (village, island, lakeside loop walk, and above all the mind-boggling statues of the Sacro Monte). Awesome restaurant (separate review). Highly recommended!

We stayed heee for a week five people age 75, 48, 58, 21 and 19 The hotel is very mixed some of the rooms Have been refurbished our first bedroom had a broken shower and the air con did not work so we got moved to another room which had a lovely bathroom but no toilet seat, apparently they couldn't get any to fit! The bed was comfortable but a total mis match of bedding, no balcony and on a pretty busy road, the towels were so thin you could almost put your finger through! The air con wasn't that efficient and frequently went off apparently they can't do laundry and have the air con on at same time! Breakfast was a strange affair, cereal no toaster and lots of cheese, quiche, pizza and hams and fish the fruit juice was like water The hot water urn broke and there was nowhere to get hot water for tea apart from the coffee machine but if you went near that you ran the risk of being shouted at by the staff! Staff were mixed some nice some rude and really quite unhelpful The snacks during the day were a nice touch We used the car park which was handy as the walk was too far for my father to walk into the centre Rooms and clean towels every day although often at 5:30:6pm when you wanted to come back and get ready for dinner Not brilliant and I wouldn't stay again I'm afraid

We stayed 2 nights and enjoyed the Hotel Bocciolo very much. We opted for the room with jacuzzi and terrace and it was worth the extra cash. Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent breakfast and nice quiet location close to the lake. 15 minute walk to Orta San Giulio or a 2 minute drive. If we come back to Orta we would gladly stay here again. Thank you to Elena and the lovely team at the Bocciolo.

We are very lucky to be able to extend our stay here to 2 weeks. Despite the complications that COVID 19 is causing everywhere, the hotel has lots of systems in place to keep everyone safe whilst still being able to thoroughly enjoy the stay. The hotel is very beautiful and it’s position on the water is stunning. Only 11 rooms, but the hotel feels very spacious with communal rooms galore - other hotels would have aimed to squeeze in more bedrooms, but not here. It’s a really beautiful, informal ‘home’. Breakfast is delicious, and the same for dinner. On our first night we did the tasting menu with wine pairing - excellent quality and value for money. We have set Alberto (who has worked at incredible 5 star hotels across the world) a task of feeding us each night ‘off menu’ which the chef will gladly organise: so far the duck and chateau Briand have been excellent. Rooms are very comfortable, all with views, and the toiletries are very good quality. This hotel is a brilliant choice, probably because the whole team genuinely want customers to enjoy their time here. Daniela, the lovely owner, checks discreetly that everything is in order, and Simona who manages the hotel will arrange for every single request to be seen to immediately. Nothing is too much trouble. The same is true of every member of staff from the cleaning team to the breakfast team, all working really hard with a smile. It’s a really excellent quality hotel and an excellent choice.

We stayed here for one night before leaving the next morning from Malpensa, and we are so glad we did! The room we had was sstylish and spacious, with a huge terrace, a well appointed bathroom, and even a loft with a bed for our daughter. The reception area offers cake, coffee, and both bubbly and still water all day long, and there is a lovely seating area in the garden, which is surrounded by fruit trees. We were lucky enough to be there on a Thursday so that we could enjoy the 32-euro zillion-course tasting menu at the restaurant. It was one of the best meals I have had in my many years living in and visiting Italy, on par with much more expensive restaurants in NY and SF. They were kind enough to prepare something simple for our daughter, who actually ate every bite of her meal for the first time on our trip. The farm is not that far from the train tracks, as others have noted, but the only trains we saw were small electric commuter trains that do not make much noise, and in any case, the doors and windows must be quadruple paned because we could not hear a thing inside the room. Do not let the presence of nearby train tracks deter you from visiting.

this is a great Hotel. Clean generous rooms and friendly staff. Its worth to go there even though it is not at the waterfront. The food in the restaurant is excelent and not too pricy. One of the best mid range Hotels we had during our trip.

We stayed at the Hotel Cortese as a family for 4 nights. It’s a beautiful hotel with pretty grounds and a swimming pool which our son loved. The staff were very polite and knowledgeable particularly Ilaria, Alessandro and the night porter (I’m sorry I can’t remember your name) and another gentleman who gave us excellent information regarding our visit to Milano.....thank you. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit, yogurts, pastries, and cereals, the staff were again very polite and helpful. Our room was fine, it had a large walk-in shower, lots of bathroom toiletries and thick, fluffy towels. The beds were fairly comfortable with duvets and plump pillows! Thankfully we had a fridge which was very useful for storing drinks. The room was cleaned every day with new towels and once again the cleaners were polite and friendly. We had a beautiful view from our window which overlooked the mountains, on our last day we had cows and goats grazing outside on the communal grass, the bells around their necks made such a beautiful noise and such a lovely sight to see. Ilaria the receptionist said the local farmer did this regularly so the animals can keep the grass short and have a change of scenery! All in all we loved our stay at Hotel Cortese and Armeno, so pretty, not touristy at all, the supermarket close by was very well stocked with lots of Italian treats. Thank you Hotel Cortese.

Stayed here for four nights during a business trip. Staff are very friendly and welcoming rooms are basic but has everything you require. Breakfast is no thrills but I think this is what most hotels offer. Internet works well and is complimentary. For the price it’s good value
