We had never visited Cheltenham before and were not quite sure what to expect. As it turned out our stay at The Bradley Hotel, bang in the heart of the town, was the perfect jumping off point. We were within walking distance of a fabulous spectrum of culinary options from Malmaison and 131 at one end to delicious pub food at the other. The Bradley Hotel itself was a delight. Kerrie, the new manager there was bright, energetically helpful and very courteous. The Lounge was a joy. Huge, high ceilings, space to relax and brilliantly stocked honesty bar. Our room was superb. Comfortable and with every creature comfort to hand. The slow gin was excellent too. All in all - a very thoughtful, relaxing and timeless taste of genteel life in Cheltenham. I thoroughly recommend it.

It is a very good hotel, the big lawn is facing the town hall at the entrance of the hotel, and the back door is a big park. There are many restaurants around and there are supermarkets within a 5-minute walk. The hotel room is very nice, clean and tidy. The hotel has a rich breakfast, English, omelette or cake. The front desk and service staff are very welcoming. The Cotswold attractions are all within a 30-40 minute drive from the hotel. In short, a very good stay experience.

So we decided to have a weekend get away and chose our destination on the hotel as was a last minute decision. We booked the best room available at £360 per night which was truly stunning, quintessentially British, grand and sumptuous, no complaints and worth every penny. We arrived late on Friday night and were greeted by a queue & bouncer, not exactly my expectation of a hotel of this standard, we made it through to “reception” which was a little bigger than a broom cupboard, we had booked for dinner but were running slightly late and it all felt quite manic & stressful so made our way straight to our room. We had supper in our room which I must say was the best room service I’ve ever experienced, super quick, full menu available and nothing was to much bother for the lady that checked us in. Still happy boys. Breakfast was good though the barista needed to speed up as our drinks arrived after the food on the Sunday and we noticed this with other guests. We decided to explore the country side and were out of phone signal on the Saturday, later on I notice missed calls from the hotel, on ringing back they informed us we were due to check out that day and had packed our bags and check us out, totally my fault and understandable on the hotels part but rather distressing for myself. On a arriving back at the hotel they informed us “the best room” available was £460 a night, so we were placed in a family room which was extremely disappointing, very low ceilings, extremely hot (the windows barely open) Anyway we decided to put this behind us and enjoy some cocktails, trying to get a table was like a lottery and service was very slow, loads of staff but all seemed to lack any direction or management. All we wanted to do was play cards & have drinks, which we usually do on holiday, we managed 4 games of cards before our drinks arrived. On checking out there had been an error and we had been charged an extra amount - the receptionist didn’t know what this was for and advised they would investigate - having spent over 1000 in less than 48 hours at the point I said this was an unsatisfactory reply and would like to speak to the manager - she disappeared for about 5 minutes and came back to say he was in a meeting - she was very unhelpful, didn’t apologise for the error and at one point just stared me down. When the manager did arrive he couldn’t have been more helpful, apologised for the error removed our mini bar charge from the bill and apologised several more times - if the situation had been managed this way in the first instance then I wouldn’t have minded - but really disappointed to have to argue that it is not acceptable to have a payment taken from my card for no apparent reason and not receive an apology or refund for the amount until the issue was resolved. So summing up I totally mucked up our booking BUT we spent a lot of money a felt slightly like we staying in the trendy bar that happened to have rooms, a reception, guest lounge and space t

Having just spent 4 nights at Butlers with my husband, we had the most lovely stay here. From the minute we stepped through the door we were made to feel most welcome by the owner Paul. The room was stunning, so clean and comfortable. After walking the Cotswolds we were given a room with a bath to relax and unwind. Shaun cooks the most beautiful breakfasts and cleans the rooms to a very high standard. It’s very clear that the hosts take great pride in what they do, and go above and beyond to ensure their guest’s stay is a memorable one. We can’t wait to return with friends to enjoy Butlers and all the great restaurants which Cheltenham has to offer within short walking distances. It’s also a perfect location for seeing the Cotswolds and various other places of interest. Rosie & Joe Sweeney

My partner and I were travelling back from the Peak District and had decided we would draw out our holiday for one more night and stay near the Cotswolds also. We did not regret our decision. The hosts were wonderful and even when posed with one of the strangest requests I suspect they have had (can my rescue pigeon join us in the room?) they obliged and agreed to our unusual request. Our room was lovely, big windows and a very comfortable bed and bathroom. Breakfast was received in the wonderful big kitchen, cooked in front of us as we were asked what our preferences were. The hosts were wonderful in advising us on walks and restaurants. We would happily stay there again, and likely will do providing circumstances allow us to do so.

First time in Cheltenham and was surprised how straightforward it was to drive straight to the hotel, just outside the town centre. Hotel is located in a leafy square with parking at the side, no hassle at all. Welcomed by Elaine, I'm guessing it was Elaine by all the kind words on here; a friendly and really hard working lady. Registration was straightforward and we were given directions into town. The hotel is elegant with high ceilings and big sash windows. Aparently once owned by the Duke of Wellington, my dad's hero! It will take some looking after for sure. Three of us shared a big room with TV, coffee machine and a large wardrobe. One of the beds was a sofa bed but it was fine, the other bed was enormous. Shower took a bit of getting used to and if you're not careful, water will get everywhere. Lovely little bar downstairs; we used it a few times including happy hour and a nightcap. Drinks were well priced at all times and the young man making and serving the cocktails/drinks (.....and breakfast) was smart and very professional. We only took breakfast in the dining room but the menu looked appealing and I think it was fairly full on the evening that we dined out. Lovely hotel with hard working, friendly owners and staff, great stay. Hope to be back again some time.

Where to start with the Cheltenham Townhouse hotel... First of all it is important to say that there is no way we could have stayed here and we did manage to get a refund in the end... We arrived at the hotel to be greeted by a very polite receptionist. However we were advised that our room - the ‘studio apartment’ - was a 5 minute walk away and not in the same building as the hotel. This was not advertised on Booking.com where I found the hotel, so it was a bit of a surprise. We did not complain and walked to the area the apartment was. We got to the building and saw some steps going down - ‘I hope they haven’t stuck us in the basement!’ I said jokingly. Spoiler alert: the apartment was in the basement. The room was dark, damp, dingy and depressing. Despite the open window, in a clear attempt to air the room, the smell of damp was overwhelming. I had been treated to a trip away due to work stress, and picked the Townhouse because the pictures on Booking.com looked so luxurious. I was greeted with something more like a dingy roadside motel with no light, and 70s shabby cheap furnishings. I called the hotel to say that the room was nothing like the pictures on the website, and I didn’t want to stay. The receptionist said she didn’t have authority to grant a refund and would need to speak with the owner - this is where a simple complaint turned into a horrible experience. We headed back to the hotel to hand back the key, expecting the process to be in hand. Unfortunately she couldn’t get through to the owner, so said we would have to wait. We waited, and waited. The time we planned to spend in Cheltenham was dwindling. Eventually the receptionist got through to the owner and she passed the phone to me to speak to him. I have never encountered such a rude, arrogant, aggressive man as this. In a patronising tone, he instructed me to read aloud the hotel’s small print about the room being in a basement. There was no small print on the room’s location or condition. He refused to back down, and continued to blame me for the situation. I was very upset by the way I was being spoken to and I handed the phone to my partner hoping he may be able to get further with the owner. The owner eventually mentioned he ‘could’ offer a refund, but this would have to be done later (through booking.com). Fair enough, but when my partner asked for this in writing, he was accused of ‘throwing insults’ and the owner proceeded to hang up the phone! I can assure you my partner was calm and professional. This should have been so simple. Usually I could have put the owner’s behaviour down to stress, as the time we find ourselves in is stressful for everyone. However when looking at other traveller experiences with this hotel on Tripadvisor, it does appear to be just his way of doing business (in fact we got off lightly - the police/shower head incident is well worth a read!) I think the owner needs to consider some training in customer service as his patronising

We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we first communicated with them prior to booking until we left in Tuesday morning. The staff were very friendly and respectful of the measures that had been introduced to keep everyone safe during these times. The room was clean and comfortable, and we had a lovely view of the cotswolds in the distance, just what we hoped. The hotel was in a perfect location for us. Not right in the hustle and bustle of the town centre, but just a short walk away if you wanted to go into Cheltenham. We went on some lovely walks in the Cotswolds as this was our primary reason for staying here, only a 10 minute drive and you are into the countryside ready to explore. The kind reception staff brought our breakfast to our room each morning so we could avoid sitting in a public space with others and the breakfast was well presented and more importantly, delicious! We had the Eggs Flourentine and the Full English, and would totally recommend. Such a lovely two night stay away and would recommend to others :)

A warm welcome greeted us on arrival, and with a smooth check in we were then shown to our magnificent large room. The photos don’t really do it justice. The interior was lovely and in keeping with the history of the building and its country surrounds. Complimentary fruit, chocolates and water with a warm welcome letter were left for us. Tea and coffee facilitates too. With crisp, white, cotton bedding we had a comfortable nights sleep and then ate a hearty breakfast with a choice of continental ( fresh fruit cereals and pastries) or cooked to order or even both. Beautifully presented with lots of choice and variety. We stayed over in celebration of our friends 60th and that in itself was held in a cosy room decorated with adorable fresh flowers by the resident florist and adorned with balloons. Food was fresh and tasty all laid on by the hotel. We didn’t get to use the spa but did take a stroll around the gorgeous gardens Our stay was comfortable and made even better with the hospitality and warmest welcome by Dean and his staff. Thank you

This was a very nice property in lovely grounds. The room was spacious and well appointed. The main concern was that we couldn’t get in. We arrived around 5pm, having walked about 20 miles on Cotswold Way. The accommodation was a further mile or so off the route. There was no-one in when we rang the bell. We noted there was an information card by the front door giving a mobile number to call if there is no reply to the door, making us think this is not an infrequent situation. Regrettably there was no reply to the mobile either so I left a voicemail. It took an hour before our call was returned. Unfortunately no apology was offered and this was a disappointing end to what had been a tough day.We found the proprietors quite frosty and not especially friendly. Incidentally, when returning to the house in the evening, there was no illumination along the long access drive, making the walk somewhat tricky.

We stayed here at the weekend and our room was lovely! We had tea and coffee facilities, hot chocolate, biscuits, microwave, TV and plates etc. The staff were all about our age and very polite and friendly. The bathrooms were new and the bed was so comfy. The only cons were the early check out which should be extended an hour to give guests a chance to get up and get ready without rushing. I would have liked some shower caps in the bathroom but I could not fault our stay. Yes there is a £100 per room holding fee which is there because people do mess up the rooms but it is refunded within 3 days. The rest of the hotel could do with new carpets and a bit of an update and the car park is very small so get there in good time. Was a bit of a nightmare finding the place that's for sure as it's down a small alley way but I just want to say thank you to the lovely staff there, they were always polite and friendly to us and could have a good laugh. We would definitely go back.

I have always used these reviews when deciding on my choice of hotel and often take them with a pinch of salt as people’s expectations can vary so much. They do prove useful and hence I feel it only fair I add to the library. We have just returned from 3 nights at the Guiting Guest House in Guiting Power. This is the first time we have had a holiday in the UK for many years and after a lot of searching for the right place to stay booked this quaint guest house. Well situated to visit anywhere within the Cotswolds. Checkin was quick and easy. The owners are a lovely couple and had done everything possible to ensure the guest house stays covid free. Bed extremely comfortable. Complimentary chocolates and soft drinks were a lovely unexpected touch. Good choice for breakfast which one books the previous evening and tasted wonderful. No evening meal which we knew before we booked and gives one the chance to sample different restaurants within the Cotswolds. In summary couldn’t have asked for more and would certainly recommend and will certainly stay again if we visit the area. One cannot beat 10 out of 10. Thank you Graham & Louise.

Overpriced: style over substance, extremely noisy due to road traffic and inconsistent customer service during our stay. We were very much looking forward to this short trip but a few things went wrong. So much that we cut our trip short and stayed two nights instead of the 3 booked. The first room we were allocated was dark and small (it's room 7). We were surprised as it looked very different from the photos seen on the website. Not surprisingly that room isn't featured on the website or their Instagram (just once). We asked to change rooms and a friendly staff member helped us do so. The new room was much bigger and brighter, in line with what you would expect. The room is well decorated and the standing bathtub is nice. However the biggest problem of this hotel is the noise - the hotel is on a busy road, with CONSTANT traffic until 11/11.30pm, starting again at 6am. The windows are not just single glazing, they are also of very poor quality. We actually thought they were open as it was so noisy. We expected to sleep well and relax in the room in the afternoon and that made it impossible even with earplugs. It's beyond me how this is possible for a 4 star hotel. We had a couple of other extra issues (no space to put your clothes anywhere in the room, phone didn't work so it was not possible to reach reception, they don't clean the room because of covid at the moment but this policy was not communicated to us on arrival - when I flagged this I was told an email had been sent to me. I digged out the email which is just the confirmation of the booking, the "we are not servicing rooms anymore" is buried in the middle of the email in the smallest police possible! Not very transparent, some of the hotel areas are clearly in need of refurbishment and the bathroom was full of stains). We had friendly interactions with the staff especially at breakfast, however our one discussion with the manager was such a negative experience it really ruined the stay for us. She was rude and unhelpful, didn't offer any alternative to our issue (we were inquiring about the lack of cleaning in the room) and just kept repeating the hotel's policies. Note to management: it's not that hard to diffuse a tense situation with a customer - apologise for the misunderstanding, offer a complimentary drink or ask if anything can be done to improve their stay and that's often enough. We were shocked at the lack of awareness at what makes good customer service in a hotel that pretends to be fancy. I overheard a couple asking the leave their luggage at the hotel for a few hours - they were also told this is not possible because of covid, which seems dubious. The main issue for us though was as I said the constant noise due to road traffic. Will not stay there again. You should be able to get a proper night sleep in a hotel at that price.

Although I'm writing this review in March 2021 we actually stayed in Cowley Manor for 5 nights last August 2020 having had to cancel our holiday abroad. Having visited family in Herefordshire, Cowley seemed like a good option and we actually picked it out from a Sunday Telegraph review of top family hotels (we have 2 teenage boys). Good things first - the grounds are lovely, breakfast was very generous and complementary, full size shampoo, shower gel etc was very welcome and although the approach to service was random and you had to be prepared to ask several times, the staff in general were pleasant and seemed to be trying their best. Standard of food was also good when it arrived although you wouldn't want to be in a rush. Now to the not so great news - having booked 2 double rooms we were placed in 3 storey stable accommodation with incredibly sleep staircases on 2 floors. There had been no prior consultation about whether we were happy with this or whether we could manage challenging accommodation. Whilst we had no mobility issues I was genuinely terrified each night about my husband getting up for the loo and falling on the very steep stairs, particularly after half a bottle of wine - not that much to ask on holiday. The bedroom and living room areas we full of cheap MDF paintwork (even the sockets were painted over with blue paint) and reassembled a cheap student bedsit. The shower cubicle resembled the inside of a cheap caravan (plastic wall enclosures) with a permanently wet slatted wooden floor that can't possibly be hygienic - I had to grit my teeth and not thinking about everyone else's feet that had been there before. Dressing gowns were frayed and there was a cigarette burn on one of ours. One of the reasons we went for Cowley was because of the indoor pool which I thought meant there would be something for my teenage boys to do if the weather was bad. However beware - hotel guests aren't allowed to use the pool which is located in the spa area between 11am-3pm (it is apparently exclusively for spa guests during these times although this isn't made known until you arrive). The rules about pool access are marshalled like a communist dictatorship and my husband was asked by one of the spa staff to leave the pool with our two boys one day at 11.02am even though no one else was in the pool area at all. During the entire 5 days we stayed there was no sign of a general manager at any stage. Had there been someone to talk to I might not have ended up leaving a less than positive review. I did mention I wasn't happy with the rules about the pool and just got shrugged shoulders and a message that this would be passed on to the spa manager. I appreciate that the whole industry is facing tough times and as someone who runs their own business I totally disagree with key board warriers who write unfair reviews with are unfounded. However if Cowley is to survive, particularly coming out the other side of curren

The bed is very comfortable, and if you need it, you can change the sheets in three days. Someone cleans it every day, which is great. On the day of check-in, we will prepare milk bread and some fruits for you. Check in is the main room of the hotel. Personally feel that the facilities are a bit old, not as fresh as the picture. The kitchen supplies prepared can only be used for simple European-style meals, and Chinese-style dishes are reluctant. The washing machine had to complain about it, it was very dirty, there was hair and dirt, but it was useless.

Was very impressed that they rang the day before to see if I wanted dinner or breakfast booking. On arrival it didn’t look that nice an area, it’s on a busy road, car park shabby, beefeater outside looked shabby. Inside it’s clean and smart, very clean very safe. Staff were very nice and helpful. The room was clean and a lot smarter inside than some of the other premier inns I’ve been in. The room was cold though and drafty from the windows. We tried to put the heat on, it came on smelled of burning and went off. My friend went to the desk and they said we’d get a heater, after an hour she went back and they’d run out of heaters, they ended up giving us the heater from the staff room which was good but not very safe a two bar heater. Clearly they have a problem with the heating if they were giving out heaters, shame as it was a great place to stay before going into Cheltenham. It was reasonably priced and the beefeater on site was excellent.

So, it’s important to note that this review is based on the fact that it’s a bed for the night There is off road parking to the rear of the property, enough I’d say for 8 cars maybe before you start blocking people in. So it’s a first come first served basis I’ve stayed here twice, the most recent being 31st May 2019 It’s cheap, the sheets are clean, the floor is clean and the rooms are self contained with a kitchenette, fridge, sink and basic crockery/ cutlery Cctv installed on site as well as access control to the main entrance. The keys to the rooms are in mini ‘safe boxes’ outside each room You get text the door code to get in and the room code to get the key Shower rooms (and toilets) are shared but well presented... I did not use the shower as I say it was a bed for the night The only thing is that it’s a good 20min walk from town centre but there is a tgi’s a 5 min walk the other way but the bonus to this is other than other guests coming back drunk and rowdy it’s a quiet area and the room was pretty much blackout It served its purpose and I didn’t catch aids or anything!!!

I stayed here for the Cheltenham Cricket Festival, July 2018. Yes, it was a curious arrangement. It is more like an apartment, but in this big splendid Regency house. It has a big lovely garden out back. You don't really see anyone but can come and go as you place - just make sure you have the codes written down. It was perfect for me as I'm a bit of a night owl, and I'm not really a Breakfasty chap. I generally am happy with a cup of team (there are facilities for this) The decor was a bit run down maybe but it had character - I prefer this to modern business hotels. I quite liked it. I brought a portable fan for the heat as we were having a tremendous heat wave; I could imagine people struggling without a fan so I would take a fan if it is summer. The croissant was a bit disgusting mind, with chocolate inside. My only slight gripe was it was a bit of a walk towards the town centre (and then the cricket venue) but perfectly possible if in reasonable fitness. I would certainly consider staying again if I return to the Cheltenham Cricket Fest. Thanks very much.

Stayed for 2 nights whilst working close by on business. The hotel is very close to the train station which is handy. The hotel is above a pub and the staff are very friendly, however, the hotel is badly in need of refurbishment and the standard of cleaning could be better. The hotel was sufficient for my work trip as I really just used it as a place to sleep, however, if you are looking for more comfortable surroundings then you may wish to look elsewhere.

I booked here following reading their booking page that includes parking. After payment I was told that there was none available, I couldn't cancel and that I would have to talk to the director but hey he's out and I can't give you his number. I gave them my number and asked for a call to discuss and nothing. So out of pocket, I had to stay. When I got there it's on a side street covered in broken glass and litter and all the parking bays are empty. I reckon the roller shutter is broken and they haven't replaced it. In side it smelt funky and had more stains on the carpet than a teenage boys bedroom. Most appartments include shampoo, some biscuits, tea, milk often more but this was basic. Tea bags for one day and dishwasher tabs even though I had booked three nights. The location was good and I got parked 1/4 mile away at John Lewis at a charge of £14 per day. The annoying thing was I had decided to book the Colon serum appartments because it had parking and premier Inn didn't. The duvet and mattresses were worn out. The duvet was paper thin and the mattresses sank to nothing as soon as you lay on it. We had our own electric blanket but there was no other spare bedding in the appartments. After three nights poor sleep I had back ache and my partner a stiff neck and headaches. We had a balcony with a view of the neighbors lounge and alley way and underneath, next to the fire escape was a month's worth of rubbish bags waiting for a cigarette to be dropped on them. In short this business says its a stay for professionals but I would say from my experience that it's a training accommodation for backpacking through the third world while still having to pay UK city prices.

Edinburgh Old Town
The Hilton brand is going downhill, and has lived in countless Hiltons from home and abroad. Every time you come to the United Kingdom, there is always a city that will arrange to stay in Hilton. Each time it ends in disappointment. 1, location, directly opposite the Scotsman Hotel, the spiral staircase next to the Scotsman Hotel can lead to the train station. If there is a large luggage, it is recommended to go out at Plantform Exit 1, there are lifts and escalators, and exit to the right Walk and turn right again for two hundred meters. A 10-minute walk from Royal mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Whisky Experience Center, these three are together! About 12 minutes walk from Calton Hill, which is different from the three attractions above 2. The housekeeping was just rubbish. On the first day of arrival, there was no mineral water in our two rooms, and the two rooms were not the same size. The one we lived in was very small. Shower gels and shampoos have obviously been used, but they have not been replaced! !! !! 3. The hotel design has serious problems. Please arrange a room for -3. We must first take the stairs to the second floor, then cross the other two third-level stairs, and then take the elevator down to -3. Rao's head is dizzy and the box Not easy to mention ~

West End
The hotel rooms are very nice, the retro feel and the design is very good. It is recommended to come to Edinburgh, you can try it. The service is also very good, the front desk staff are very warm and there is a grandfather wearing a Scottish skirt. Very enthusiastic and also voluntarily said that you can take a photo and take the initiative to take the box. It was raining when we stayed, and we went to the front desk and borrowed an umbrella~ Book in Ctrip in advance, just say your last name. Quick search~ When I booked, I just started to watch more than 1,000. The second time I saw it was more than 600, and the price rose very scary. The restaurant is also very nice, but there is nothing to eat in order to catch the trip. So if you have time, try it, but put apples and lemonade at the door~
