Rooms are great and after an initial 2 nights in a room with a disappointing view we were moved to 1 with an amazing view, I explained our disappointment as it is our wedding anniversary and my birthday . The hotel were very accommodating. The staff make the hotel the food is good but find the lack of action and entertainment disappointing, Some live music in the evening would make a difference before the show , The beach is very stony sp bring water shoes. Nerja is lovely and lots to do in the area. Thank you to the hotel staff for their great service

Stayed at the Riu Monica on a Tui holiday for 7 days in late April 2022. We were greeted with a complimentary drink and quickly booked in. Our room was on the lower floor and we found that people walking to the pool or beach were looking into our room. I approached reception and they said that they would move us the following day to the 5th floor, this was a much better room. I would request a room on the higher floors if you prefer a bit of privacy. The rooms were spotless but rather bizarrely did not have any hot drink making facility, very strange even the most mundane of hotels I have stayed in have had this facility. You have to rent the safe, again would have though this simple security measure would be included as a courtesy, that said we had nowt worth nicking so not a problem (-:. Have seen mention of the towels being a bit beat up but though they were on the small size they did the job. Breakfast was lovely with everything from porridge to a full Sean Coronary fry up , lots of fruit, cheese etc.. Dinner was also very nice, lots of choices and very tasty. You can buy a bottle of wine and they give you a nice bag so you can take it away and finish it off the next night, ice bucket provided for white so all very nice, you can also buy just a glass or a beer etc.. Water not provided so you have to buy it, hmm. Pool area very clean though we did not have a dip as it was a bit chilly for us, the indoor pool was a nice option but we were to busy to give it a try. Did not try any daytime snacks as we were out and about. Evening entertainment was 'low key' and easy on the ear. Staff all lovely and friendly, very efficient so thanks to them all. The location is nice with a choice of several nice beaches and a short walk to the main part of town. The noddy train to the Nerja caves is a minutes walk away and you can buy a return ticket with entrance to the caves and free entry to Nerja Museum included. The bus station (layby) is just over the other side of town a 10 minute walk. You can get a bus to Frigliania a lovely mountain village for 1 Euro 20c, pay on bus, which is a lovely day out. Some of the bars in the main area still do Tapas with a drink, we had a large beer and water with tapas for 6 Euros you can't grumble at that! Pretty much everywhere accepts card payment so that makes things straightforward.

We stayed for four weeks from early January 2022 and were extremely satisfied with the hotel, the staff and our overall time there. We had room 306 which is on the top floor and looked out over the plaza, called Plaza Cronista Pepe Pascual, at the rear of the hotel. It had a small balcony that gave views of the lovely mountain backdrop to the town but one drawback was that it did not get the sun due to it being generally north facing. It is worth stating that no rooms in the hotel that look south, and towards the town centre, have balconies. The reception, which is spacious, always had staff available and they were very helpful when asked for advice or information. Booking in was easy and quick on our arrival and the lift and stairway to the upper floors are adjacent to the reception desk. The room was very comfortable although it could have benefited from an additional easy chair as people do not always want to sit on the bed to relax. Whilst talking about additional furniture a small table on the balcony would have been beneficial and would compliment the two chairs there. The bathroom was more than adequate although those who like a soak in the bath will be disappointed as there wasn't one! However, the shower, which had a monsoon head, was excellent with lots of hot water that is delivered in a strong, steady flow. The bed was very comfortable although those hoping for a double bed will be disappointed as the hotel follows what seems to be a Spanish 'tradition' of providing two singles. Those of a 'romantic' notion will have to endure the 'great divide' if the beds are pushed together. The decor of the room as well as the rest of the hotel was very nice, very clean and very tidy. Housekeeping called every day and towels can be changed frequently because if they are dirty then the resident can just leave them on the floor of the bathroom and clean ones are left. One small issue with the wardrobe in room 306 is that the sliding mirrored doors are quite heavy to move and did have a habit of getting slightly stuck. After four weeks that issue does get a little wearing as they have to be move frequently to access the safe. At this point it is worth noting that there is no additional charge for air conditioning and the use of the safe as instructions for the use of the latter are on the safe itself - each room occupant can choose their own combination number. A kettle is also available free of charge for making that all important brew in the morning! As previously stated we stayed for four weeks and it was on a half board basis. The breakfast is served in the dining room which is situated just behind the reception area. the range of food was excellent with the usual continental cold selection and a hot option as well. Various drinks were available, both hot and cold, as well as toast and small cakes. It was all self service but there was never a time when any of the items were lacking in either quantity or quality. The hot breakfast consisted of b

When we checked in we were very disappointed with one of the superior rooms we had been allocated. This was quickly sorted and we were offered an alternative room which was more to our liking due to the lovely view and easy access to the pool. Breakfast was fine but more choice of cereal would of been nice. Some areas of the hotel needed a little TLC and a good dust but for the price we paid we never expected luxury. Spent time round the lovely pool area but it was difficult to relax due to the loud noise a nearby manhole cover made every time a car drove over it. Happy hour each day from 5 until 9 was great and each afternoon we enjoyed a couple of drinks before getting ready for the evening. Staff were very friendly and it was always service with a smile. On our last night we ate in the hotel restaurant and I have to say the food and service was outstanding and extremely reasonable. We really enjoyed our time at this hotel and for us the location was great. Despite a few little niggles we would definitely return if we ever visit Nerja again.

We stayed at Hotel Villa Flamenca for the 3th time and it was as good as before: bright and clean rooms, we enjoyed the balcony and views! The breakfast was almost too much, staff was very friendly and helpful. Only the pool was - as expected thistime of the year - quite cold. We nevertheless enjoyed short swims. Luc & marijke - Belgium

We have stayed in this lovely hotel in Nerja on several occasions now. The cleanliness is this hotel is exemplary and the facilities are great, we particularly like the sundeck and hot tubs on the roof. On this visit we had just got married in Malaga on the previous day and we were given an upgraded room with a balcony and we arrived to find the room decorated with balloons. We always find the staff at this hotel to be very friendly and helpful. On this visit we would like to say a special thank you to Belen who was on reception and was so helpful throughout our stay. We will visit again as we visit the area regularly and would strongly recommend this hotel to anyone.

We stayed in a top floor superior room at the Parador de Nerja for 5-nights in late April (€204/night). We picked the hotel as a rest & relaxation break on a busy trip that had included a week in the Emirates, stays in Madrid, and travelling through Andalusia's major cities. It delivered what we were looking for. As one of the “modern” paradores, it was a bit dated in some aspects (1960's tiles, scars on wood trim where hinges were once located, a telephone jack in the bathroom), but the Parador chain's attention to detail and quality has generally maintained a high overall standard. Our room was spacious, with a king bed and side tables, desk and chair, 2 upholstered chairs and small table, luggage table, two large clothes closets with a safe, and a small TV. The bathroom was large with a double-sink vanity & bathtub/shower. The room opened onto a full-width deck with chairs, table and a bar to dry towels and clothes, and a great view over the pool to the ocean and distant headlands. The hotel's grounds were expansive, with lawns (with lawn chairs and umbrellas) around the pool and down to the white fence along the edge of the steep bluff. The pool was huge and well maintained, but a bit cool at this time of year to have been well used. The restaurant served an excellent breakfast, with an egg station, great pastries, and everything else you would like, and seating indoors or out on a large, patio. Staff were generally good, with the exception of a few of the front desk personnel who seemed to busy to want to help and too gruff to care. The location was great, with a private elevator down to the beach, and a 10 minute walk to the Balcon de Europa and all of its bars and restaurants. Parking was available, at €14 per night (€10 for Amigos de Paradores – everyone can join for free, and get complementary welcoming drinks to boot, so why not?), but we easily found free parking on the street. Overall, a very pleasant spot for a break, but what was delivered was a bit short of what I would expect for the price.

We stayed here last week, my partner and I and our two furbabys and Honestly we could not believe our eyes when we arrived, not only a beautiful quaint villa that’s a hidden gem, and so unassuming, but the facilities we’re perfect, pool, balcony, WiFi, everything you’d expect from a boutique hotel, was beautiful, it was spotless, so so clean, even provided hand gel in the room along with antibac wipes, nothing was left out, the breakfast we absolutely could not fault, fantastic selection and choice, (I must have that coffee machine! 😁) and the attentiveness of the hosts, simply amazing, we especially loved the cute lil dog water bowls that were provided to our room, the bed was out of this world (we did not want to get out of it) the hospitality of the hosts was second to none, we had the most fabulous time and we cannot wait to return, we felt like we were in 5 star and we we’re certainly treated that way too, thank you guys for a really great experience, we very much look forward to seeing you again real soon, we WILL be back :) xx
