4.69km from Mori Ladies ClinicThis was not the best of the hotels I stayed at in Japan on this trip. First, the positives. Check in staff were pleasant. The room and bathroom were both large for Japan. I had a corner room with dual aspect windows, which was nice. The breakfast views from the 18th floor were lovely. The hotel is extremely close to the station, and the walk between the two is through a mall, with a Family Mart convenience store and a 100 yen shop. The bathroom shower had great water pressure However, the room reeked of stale cigarette smoke, made worse by moving the curtains. The fridge was turned off when I arrived and this wasn’t mentioned, meaning the iced coffee I bought for the morning of the first day ended up being thrown away. I booked a double room and got twin single beds, which wasn’t ideal as I’m tall and my feet hung over the edge. The air conditioning unit was old and not great. Rokkō Island is an absolute ghost town. The river walk at sunset was pretty but there’s very little going on out there and I would rather have been closer to the action. The much-touted ‘bayside view’ is mostly port... best at night. Unfortunately this hotel is just like Rokkō Island in general: built with hope and promise but a faded version of what might have been.
