      Enjoyed my two night stay at the Doubletree. I loved the view of Cedar Rapids from my room and from the top floor restaurant (which has a wonderful breakfast). Staff was great and easily handled that I had two different reservations for the two nights--I have had hotels mess this up before. Room was very clean. The elevators were very fast and parking across the street in a parking garage you could reach via a skywalk across the street. Would stay here again.

      Started off awkward, walked in waited at counter for five minutes until someone came to check me in. Finally got room key for room on second floor (stairs only, no elevator). As we are walking and hauling our stuff to the room I felt like we were going fall through the floorboards the floors were creaking and giving way the entire length of the hall. The air conditioner was dripping left approximately an 8 foot diameter puddle on the carpet surrounding it. People sitting in the parking lot in lawnchair‘s party till late morning hours. Around 4:30 AM a crowd of seven people were crying and walking around the parking lot disheveled. All of this could be heard through the paper thin walls and windows. We called down for towels the night before but didn’t receive them. The breakfast in the morning was literally apples bananas bread for toast and a waffle maker. The pool was OK the sign on the door said only four people allowed in at the same time. The water pressure was great in the bathroom sink came out like a fire hose. All in all the employees I could find were nice but the place wasn’t for us and we will not be returning.

What I love about the place the most is the people that work there. So accommodating, efficient, helpful, and kind. They go above and beyond.       We have stayed at a couple of the Hilton Tru Hotels in the United States and they are precisely the same except for the beautiful murals in the lobby which are tailored to the local Tru. They are dog friendly and the hard flooring and trendy, yet spartan, assures that previous pet misbehavior has been cleaned and sanitized. The night front desk lady was happy and welcoming at 11:00 in the evening as well as the next morning at 7:00 a.m. when she was ending her shift. These hotels are getting to be 3-4 years old and have started to show their share of wall and door dings, but we found things generally clean and well kept. We would agree with the other writers that said this would not be a great place to stay over an extended period of time as the closet space and work spaces are spartan. Interestingly, as we were checking out there were several people leaving that had been there for a couple weeks. The staff told us they have quite a few customers that stay all week and then are gone on the weekends. The view from your room is not especially interesting, but it’s also not right on the interstate like the majority of the Cedar Rapids hotels. We liked the hotel, but would not stay here for anything but a place to sleep and have breakfast. Nice people, no issues, we would come back.

      This hotel is very close to the airport, five minutes away, and there is a free shuttle bus. We went to the airport to return the car and also picked us up for free. The environment is very good, the facilities are complete, there are tools for ironing. Breakfast starts at 4 o'clock, and there are small pastries and drinks to enjoy in the usual hall. The service is very good. Must be recommended!

      Everything about our night’s stay was great. Room was clean, staff friendly and knowledgeable. Tammy went out of her way to give us directions after we got lost, then personally greeted us when we finally arrived. Breakfast the next morning was plentiful and fresh.       Yeah I stayed here only a night and truthfully I can’t believe some of the things I seen. First let’s talk about the circus out back of the building I go out there to enjoy a smoke to be attacked by people begging for a cigarette. From the apartments out back. On top of that the first room I was given they where still cleaning. There was needle glass a vomit smell to it ant the mattress had bloodstains on it. The smell alone was terrible. Then they give me a Sweet which I was trying to life. But there was Feces on the toilet seat underneath the toilet seat. I reach into the tissue box under the sink in bathroom and almost get jabbed bye a needle with no lid in it and blood inside it. So I disposed of it. Then I look there is empty drug baggies behind the toilet. And blood in sink in bathroom. I ask for a towel so I can clean it up and get an additude from the 3rd shift worker. I just walked away. Then from like 12:30 am till 3:30 am it sounded like ther was a race going on on the third floor. After notifying the the friend desk from my cell phone about it it did stop. It’s sick. When asking about booking the room an extra night I almost get my head tore off. So I won’t be able to stay here an extra night like my employer wanted. Another thing is once it gets dark you see the best of the best come out. The drug activity in there is plentiful I layed down in the bed and something poked me. It was a painted toenail I’m telling you it was a wild night. In fact I seen enough and I don’t won’t see it again.
