A successful attempt to blend a hostel and hotel together, this place has touchless check in and processing. I loved being able to get in the door with a code, get my key card with a code and go directly to my room. Do I worry they never change the codes and one day that might be a security risk? Yes. But I accepted it. The rooms are small with not great sound proofing, but private, cozy, functional, and bathrooms are small and worked. I would like at least one more hook for wet stuff but more importantly- the rainshower head was not working for us and the water spills everywhere in the bathroom. You can see the damage on the wood door already. Also- no washcloths. I had brought my own but be aware. I also couldn't really figure out the towel warmer/heater thing. The vending machines, free coffee, basic plates/cutlery/snack drawer were perfect when you need them. I could not figure out breakfast- one morning there was a huge delicious spread. Other mornings, nothing! Was it one big group that set it up? Who knows!! Expect nothing. Leaving luggage was easy, elevators worked fine, everything seemed very clean and kept up. If your priority is to save a chunk of money on hotel and you are ok with a car or bus tours, this will be a good choice since it's easy to get to and there are grocery/restaurants around. For a first trip with no car though, I would say it's worth a bit more money to get a center city hotel. The buses and taxi systems just aren't secure enough for foreigners to rely on and it's so much time/energy getting to and from without a car.

The location is not the best but 20 minutes walk from the downtown is acceptable. Love the designs of the hotel and the amenities. The room is very spacious and has most of the things you’d need for a stay. It is really nice to see coffee machine and fruits in room. Everything is very neat and tidy. However, the check-in process was not satisfactory. It is really hard to reach out to a staff in the hotel. The self-check-in process requires an email from the hotel that tells you the room number and passcode. Since the only pin is got was the booking pin but not the check-in pin, it took me long time to realise I did not possess the check-in pin to enter the hotel. The hotline provided by the hotel was not working at all. Thankfully trip.com’s CS was really helpful in contacting the hotel for me. The hotel’s staff were really friendly and polite but the fact that I didn’t receive the room no and passcode beforehand was still very frustrating. Therefore the best advice to book this hotel is to check whether you have the room number and passcode at least 1-2 days before your stay. Other than the check-in issue, I had a nice stay here.

This hotel has a lot going for it, but it's held back by the fit and finish of many of the hotel's spaces. Overall, the hotel just feels dated. The red carpet in all of the halls is faded and stained, the wood floor in the room had a lot of damage, and the spa is way past its prime. On a positive note, the furniture in the room has been updated recently and the pieces were nice plus I found the bed to be very comfortable. Also, breakfast was really good! The service at the hotel was also great. But that spa, ugh. It's a perk of being a gold/diamond member, but the spa is just not in good condition. Most urgently, something needs to be done about the steam room, it smelled awful while we were there and even made other parts of the spa smell. But overall, the spa was just not in good shape with damage everywhere. Also, the location of this hotel isn't great if you're looking to explore Reykjavik but, if like us, you want somewhere with free parking for you to explore the rest of Iceland, then this is a great location for you.

Great hotel. Faboulous size family room for 2 adults and 2 teens- proper big and comfy beds for all and no sofa beds! Lovely buffet style breakfast with hot and cold food. We like the location which is about 20mins wslk to town centre but local to fantastic swimming pool with lots of thermal springs of varying temperature. Hotel had free parking so was very convenient for us with hire car. Spa within hotel was also a bonus. Resturant and bar within hotel served great food. All staff was friendly and helpful. If we ever go back to zIceland will definitely stay here again.

When we return to Iceland, we will most likely look first at staying here. It was very clean and comfortable, the people at the front desk were super helpful, the lobby was beautiful, and we enjoyed the free garage parking very much. We stayed here our last night before flying back home, and we had to leave at 6am so we were unable to enjoy the complimentary breakfast, but they did have coffee and pastries waiting for us in the lobby before we departed. The location was just a short 5 minute drive to the center of town, and the person at the check-in desk gave us very good directions for parking and even made a great dinner reservation for us at the Seafood Grill. We had a wonderful time.

It was a true pleasure to stay at Hotel Lotus during our visit to Reykjavik. This hotel can offer modern and newly redecorated rooms with very comfortable beds. The breakfast is fresh and delicious. And last, but not least - this hotel is run by the most welcomming, nice and helpful hotel owner that I have ever met! I would love to stay here again

We stayed here for two nights by the end of our holiday in Iceland. It is located a few minutes drive from the city centre. The studio was of very good size with wide window. The bed and the pillow are reasonably comfortable. Towels are provided every other day but fine to us. The table which was supposed to be for dinning is pretty small though. We did not use the kitchen which has limited but sufficient utensils. The bathroom is on the small size but quite functional with strong shower. But there are a few things. First, there is no on-site staff and the entry was keyless by codes which are supposed to be emailed to us. We have not received the email. We called the number displayed in the notice on the ground floor which was immediately answered. It was found out that the email provided by expedia.com (I made booking through Agoda) was not related to me. The second problem was that, after resolving this without delay, we entered the room and found that the bathroom door was damaged to the extent that it could not be shut. Called again and this was not resolved by the first staff without returning a call to us as promised. We called the second time when Maria was a lot more helpful but was not able to contact the manager after many attempts. This was not resolved until the next day. The third problem is about parking, there were no instructions or advice as to where should we park, except for display of some non-English signs.

I stayed for two nights and the room was not cleaned the next day (there was a sign saying room cleaning). It took several calls at the front desk for someone to answer the phone and ask for new bath towels. The front desk replied that they were busy at the moment and if necessary, you could go to the front desk to get the towels yourself. The room is clean.

Everything was perfect. The room size is excellent. We stayed at another place in Iceland before coming to this hotel. The best part was the water from the tap; unlike the other place, there was no unpleasant smell due to sulfur content at Aska. I would rebook, if I am visiting Iceland again. The best part about Iceland is, bus stops are near to all the hotels.

We really enjoyed our “bigger” room as a family of 4. Very spacious, modern and has nice lighting. The kitchen island was brilliant as we were able to let the kids make their dinner while we went out to a lovely restaurant nearby. The location is perfect for the charming old downtown area. It’s only 5 minutes to the downtown airport if you are flying out domestic. They have some parking right in front, which isn’t the case for other high end hotels downtown. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Would absolutely stay again!

This hotel is the perfect location for a visit to Reykjavik. The main shopping street and many restaurants are within walking distance, as well as the old wharf where the whale watching ships are located. The staff was great, the coffee house excellent. Make sure to get a superior room; the second time we stayed we were not given that type of room and it was smaller and on the noisier side of the hotel. On the weekends, the bars close at 4:30 am, so there is much partying going on!

The guesthouse itself was nice enough. Note that if you stay in one of the economy rooms, you will only have access to one bathroom per 5 rooms (unless you are willing to walk back to the main house and use one of the bathrooms there). This was not an issue during my stay, but I woke up super early to avoid it becoming an issue. The real issue for me was the lack of communication. I ended up needing to spend an extra 50 dollars on long distance calls because this business failed to check their email or Facebook messages. On top of that, I had to call twice because I was given incorrect information the first time. Note that booking this property is a risk if you book through a third party (Expedia etc) because you may not receive the email with instructions on how to check in (this is why I had to call repeatedly after they failed to answer my emails).

This one is somewhat tough to review. Service was 1-star. We received no instructions to enter and had to spend a fair amount of time on the phone (at costly international rates) to receive instructions. The instructions we received were not detailed enough. They did not mention entering through the restaurant to get to the first-floor rooms. Rooms on the second floor do not have to do this. The room itself was okay to decent. The kitchenette was nice, but the dishes were in the dishwasher when we arrived. The room lacked commonplace security features like an interior deadbolt, security chain, or a peephole. Combined with the strange way to enter the ”hotel” this made us feel uneasy. The fact that this hotel is not staffed and entry is through code would have been fine if detailed instructions were provided. Plenty of AirBnBs do this well. For the price, this would be much better value if they had better customer service and detailed instructions along with some additional security features. As it is I wouldn't recommend.

First of all, this is a building with many rooms, not the concept of a single-family villa. I feel the name of this villa apartment is a bit hehe! Of course, close the door, the space of the room is your independent use. Finding a house by navigating is not very smooth. Surroundings are the pattern of shopping pedestrian streets. Parking can basically be satisfied. But you have to find an empty parking space on the commercial street. The house was booked at night, and the reception was a handsome guy, but I felt that the service was not very warm, because I lived for two days and saw hair on the bed. The handsome guy insisted that the bed was clean. Although I have a slight cleanliness. But don't want to care, even if it is. The house layout and facilities feel good. The kitchen equipment was useless, because I opened the drawer in the lower right corner and there was stains. I only used the kettle. The bath water is hot enough and the water is large enough. The surrounding punching spots are within walking distance. Downstairs is the commercial street. No breakfast, a family of three enough to live, can bring children. No parking, the hotel location is not very good looking.

This hostel has a practical and functional location only. The only reason to stay here is for it’s convenient pickup and drop off stop for tours and the airport. The room was a 4 bed dorm and was stark. Located opposite the kitchen and above the main entrance meant it was quite noisy too. The bunks are very, very basic. There aren’t charging points at each bed in this particular dorm (3) and the blanket provided is a decorative throw. The cleaning left a lot to be desired. Regularly had to ask reception for hand soap in the toilet, paper towels and toilet paper. The Wi-Fi is non-existent and the reception staff are totally ambivalent; they are pleasant but absolutely no desire to help. Plausible deniability comes to mind. You only stay here for the location that allows you access to all that Iceland has to offer.

I’m trying to write a balanced review … so here goes … Benefits: Location Clean rooms L’OR coffee machine … but there is a but later on …. Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

My sister and I stayed here for two nights at the end of our Iceland holiday. Centrally located just a 5-minute walk from the Hallgrimskirkja and a 20-minute stroll from the harbour. I had been a bit worried about parking so I had emailed the hotel in advance to ask and got a very prompt response. It was astoundingly easy to park close by and we got a lovely friendly welcome from the hotel staff; in fact all the staff we met were really friendly and chatty. The room was a reasonable size (initially made up as a double but this was swiftly altered to a twin while we were out whale-watching) and had everything you need (including a fridge). It was a bit stuffy in the room, even with the little window open so we had the room door propped open for a while but, as I think Iceland was experiencing record hot weather at the time perhaps it's not fair to criticise! Our room was on the first floor but we didn't experience any of the noise from the restaurant/bar that some other reviews have mentioned. Would definitely recommend as a good location for a stay in Reykjavik.

I stayed here for four nights ONLY because my positive Covid test, the day before my scheduled flight back to the U.S.A., required that I self-quarantine for five days before I could request a ”Fit to Fly” Certificate to get on my return flight. Needing to quickly find a place to stay for several nights that was not too far from the BSI Terminal, I felt blessed that this place met my needs at a price that significantly less than other lodgings. Unfortunately, the number of negatives were simply too much for me to ignore. Let me be clear: I am not fussy when it comes to sleeping accommodations. When I do wilderness backpacking, a roof over my head & an outhouse are luxuries for me. I knew this place had shared bathrooms but figured (correctly, I need to emphasize) it would not be a problem for me. First, the positives. Good location in a quiet neighborhood at a budget price. Warm, comfortable beds. Very clean rooms, including all common areas. Excellent wifi. Spotless kitchen had more utensils than I expected, with plenty of refrigerator space for your food; thus allowing you to save on meals. A hair dryer was in the room. Negatives. Unless you are walking along the Snorrabraut sidewalk, with a good idea of where this place is -- it's right behind the bus stop, BTW -- you'll never see its sign. With a lack of street signs in the area, I can't say I'm surprised I got lost trying to find the place. There is no elevator; it was not fun to carry my suitcase up a flight of stairs. Check-in was not till 3pm, and there is no place to safely store your luggage. I've gotten used to mid-afternoon check-ins, but having to sit around till then is also not fun. My room was supposedly designed for four people, but I see no way for more than two people to not trip over each other. The paint on the white table was clearly coming off, and any attempt to move it resulted in its legs falling apart. TV had ONLY Apple TV, meaning you must pay extra for anything you wanted to see. I enjoy watching news & free entertainment, but this was literally impossible. The washing machine was broken while I was there. ANY ability to do laundry is a nice feature, and getting it free is a real treat. But not if it's unusable. My room has radiator heat, meaning you have two choices: lots of heat or none at all. I must state that my biggest negative was lack of communication about getting a room key. All I got was an email message stating ”Front door: xxxxxx” and ”Room code: xxxxx”. I've spent a lifetime training people how to use technology, often after I had to teach myself because of bad instructions, so I'm pretty good at figuring out how to get things to work. And I had no problem getting in the front door. But getting my room key took me almost fifteen minutes because there was nothing more about unlocking the box beyond the above words. I shouldn't have to email a request for instructions when I arrive at a lodging; they should be available before or at arrival. And I ne

Convenience store (Vikivaki, I believe it was called) is just right in front. ”Bonus” grocery store is also nearby (around 5 mins walk). Good base for tours as Bus Stops #9 and #10 are just close by (around 3-5 mins. walk). Apartment was very clean and cozy, with soft comfy beds. Good amount of space to move around. Kitchen essentials were available - pots, pans, dishwashing soap, plates, utensils, spices, coffee machine and pods, tea, spices were available. Bathroom was clean and spacious. Perfect for stays with family (4-5 persons)!

First of all, the parking lot is convenient, close to the pier, 13 minutes walk to any capital attractions, and there are many dining options around. Second, the front desk staff are very good, the breakfast food is also good, the hotel rooms in the downtown area of Iceland are very small, this hotel is not small, and the bathroom has a heating towel rack, convenient for drying. Very nice hotel 👍

Location is across from the Harpa, very close to Bus stops for tour pick ups, 5-10 minute walk to fantastic restaurants and shopping. Rooms on smaller size with wall shelves for storage and a little worn out but are clean, showers hot, full amenities. Breakfast hearty and really enjoyed the baked granola bars! Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a tour leaving at 6:00 AM and was provided a continental breakfast. Highly recommend!

Great location for shopping on the way to the main attractions of the (very walkable) city. On arrival staff provided us with clear directions for our first day of touring. The room was very comfortable and our request for a quiet courtyard room was granted. Breakfast was outstanding as were all our interactions with staff, including the booking of our bus ride to KEF airport when we departed. Recommended,

We had a room on the 4th floor with a balcony, overlooking Laugavegur. Even though it was a Saturday night, we weren’t disturbed by any noise, and the room had a nice view of Hallgrímskirkja. We were pleasantly surprised to be able to check in at 12pm when we went to ask if the hotel could store our bags for a few hours until check in at 3pm. The lack of breakfast was not a problem, as we tend to skip breakfast and do brunch instead. I would stay here again. If you have a hire car, park in the P3 on Skulagata and walk the short distance to the hotel. The lady on the reception was very hospitable.
