      The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable. It looks a little bit disgusting. Our room on the back was quiet, good air conditioning. The hotel is located a short walk from the city centre (very pleasant!). Quality is suitable for the price: 3 stars. Reception staff friendly and adequate. Duche very small, be so short that you can't sit on it with a average leg length. For one night, fine.

      The hotel is incredibly stylish, in a very welcoming and homely way. I've never seen anywhere else quite like it. The furnishings were eclectic and fascinating and it was great having so many books available (in a variety of genres and languages). It's very well-located for seeing Desenzano, right on the edge of the main shopping and restaurant area as well as many tourist attractions. It's also very easy to get the ferry to anywhere else on the lake. A bit of a walk to the train station (as you would expect) so better by taxi if it's very hot or you have heavy bags, walkable otherwise. We booked a view of the lake in case my mobility was limited, and it was well worth it. We had 3 balconettes, all with a beautiful view. On arrival the hotel gives you a pack with all the information you could possibly need to make the most of the Lake Garda area, but staff are always available to give recommendations too. The breakfast selection is fantastic, I can't think of anything that was missing and, more importantly, it runs to a good time. The restaurant is lovely with really good food and perfect portion sizes. As someone with a restricted diet (for health reasons) it would be useful to have at least 1 more vegetarian option, but that's me really trying hard to find a criticism and with the quality of fish in Desenzano naturally local menus are dominated by lovely fish dishes. But the highlight of the stay was the staff. They were all so friendly but not intrusive. They were patient with my Italian speaking (I can get by but am still studying for a language exam). The housekeeping is impeccable.

      Nice hotel located right on the lake a few minutes walk from the centre of the town. The hotel was warm, quiet, well appointed, clean and the staff were very polite. My advice is book a lake view room on the first floor. Large rooms with a huge balcony right on the lake shore. Stunning views of the lake, the town, the mountains and Sirmione. I didn’t have break least included in my room rate so cannot comment on the food. There was somebody in reception 24/7 so getting in/out of the hote was never a problem. There is also free hotel parking for 20-30 vehicles. The train station is a 20 minute walk or 5 minute drive away. I took the slow train to the lovely city of Verona for 8 euros return and Venice is about 1 hr 30 mins away on the train. I drove to Venice which was a mistake and I chose to visit during one Italy’s Easter festivals so Venice crowds were like being at a football match. Another mistake but the lake area, Verona, the mountains and Venice are amazing.

      Hotel Oliveto

      Myself and my partner visited hotel oliveto for 5 nights at the beginning of April. We had a lovely time, and Desenzano is absolutely beautiful with really easy links to other parts of the lake as well as Verona and Milan. Flights & transfers - We flew into Bergamo airport, we took public transport to get to the hotel which was easy enough and very inexpensive, just long winded - the Trainline app was so handy for purchasing tickets etc. Due to our departing flight being so early we couldn’t use public transport so the hotel booked a taxi for us which cost €139 (£110 approx). Hotel - The hotel was totally average, the public areas are nice but the rooms are so outdated and TINY. When we arrived, the plug sockets, TV, fridge and Aircon were not working, so we went down and told the receptionist and he had someone come to the room to take a look. We then went out for the day and when we returned, everything was fixed except the aircon. So fair play to the hotel - the room was really hot and stuffy but this wasn’t the end of the world. You really do get what you pay for, it’s a cheap hotel and the quality reflected that, we only slept there so we weren’t too fussed, it didn’t ruin our trip. The staff were friendly, I read the reviews about the manager, and I understand what people mean, but when you speak to him he isn’t rude or intimidating, he just seems to be a serious person. Rented towels seemed difficult, and when we enquired about the pools the staff said that we had to pay €10 to use the indoor pool and the outdoor pool wasn’t open, entrance to the spa was €20 for two hours - this was irritating because you’d expect to be able to use all facilities available when you have paid to stay in a hotel. All in all the hotel was okay, it wasn’t great but wasn’t so bad that it ruined our trip. Things to do - If you walk into the town centre you can rent a boat without a boat license, it was about £100 for 2 hours and it was AMAZING, I highly recommend, make sure you shop around though cause some of the companies try to rip you off with fuel prices. Restaurants are beautiful, and cheap, and the food is to die for. Every Tuesday is market day and you could spend hours walking around there were so many stalls. We took the ferry over to Sirmione for the day, this was gorgeous, lots of shops and restaurants and the big castle to visit. The ferry was €6 return and took 20 mins. There was a thermal spa at the Aquarius hotel, we went for the sunset session from 1900-2200, it was €24 per person and you get a complimentary drink and snacks, and a robe and towel included in that. It was beautiful, you have great views of the sunset over the lake and the thermal pools so so relaxing. Highly recommend. We also went to Verona for the day which was 20 mins by train, super easy and Verona is beautiful, lots of shops and boutiques to look around as well as the amphitheater etc. Overall we had a really lovely time, probably wouldn’t return to the ho

      Location very good on the lakeside away from the centre so less busy but close enough for convenience. Staff super friendly, very professional and helpful. Rooms are modern, bright, functional and comfortable. Room was meticulously serviced every day. Breakfast buffet was very good, quality food, healthy options well presented. Breakfast space was covered but outside mainly and very pleasant. Bar staff super friendly and professional at reasonable prices. We did not use the restaurant for dinner but would be confident it would be very good also. Price paid translates into good value. We had to cancel the last two years due to Covid restrictions but the hotel honoured the prepaid value for some of our party that did the prepay in 2020. Summary: very satisfied, excellent experience and would definitely return.
