I have been staying in this hotel off an on for the last 5 years. The only major problem I notice is that nobody speaks English here, There is no improvement in this area & I don’t know whether this is to discourage foreigners. Also breakfast food quality has gone down a lot & so as the the attitude of the reservation people at the front desk. Though the breakfast time is 6to 10AM, you won’t see any quality food there if you go after 8.30 AM. They hardly replenish.

The hotel is located near Bangkok's Skytrain BTS Nawatie Station. Exit 6 and turn right after going down the stairs. The OLIVE logo on the outside of the building is very eye-catching. The hotel lobby is located on the second floor, and the first floor is the parking lot and the restaurant (the restaurant is just a few tables, there is no food service). Did not book the hotel breakfast, listen to the front desk said it was delivered to the room, 150THB one. The hotel downstairs is a 7-11, all kinds of small food are cheap and can be heated for free. The hotel bed is large, the waiters are very friendly, and communication depends on English. The less satisfying thing is that the shower doesn't have much water.

I stayed for 1 month here. Had a room on the 5th floor. There is no elevator but got used to walking up the stairs everyday. Staff are friendly and helpful. Loved the view from my room and so quiet and peaceful. Walking distance to Punnawithi BTS but you could always use grab bike if you don't want to walk. I guess a short stay tourist wouldn't stay here as it's not in a touristy area like silom/Siam etc but I really enjoyed the stay. Everything was just fine.

1. The double bed room is actually made up of two small beds, one of which is uncomfortable! What brain circuit can change the room type like this? 2. This hotel is the standard of domestic Samsung before choosing this exhibition. 3. Service: A little unpleasantness occurred during check-in. The front desk used a cold English sentence: Check UR BANK. Feeling LOW, what attitude! The doorman is very nice, it will open the door for you 4. Give me the feeling that this hotel was born for Chinese? The room is also a variety of "not allowed" Chinese slogans, and the restaurant is also not allowed to waste Chinese slogans. Is it only the Chinese who do not observe the rules in their eyes? !! What about a good target?

We stayed here for the novelty effect and also because we have a 9 year old who loves to play cops and robbers. Can I just say the service here is amazing!! Yes it might not be like other star hotels but it definitely makes up on the style quotient and their ability to take customer service to the next level!! I arrived here early in the morning and they not only checked me in but also gave me access to my room at 7:30 am!! I also left my shoes here as I moved to another hotel (on the other side of town) and they sent it over by courier without a fuss!! Its worth a one night stay for the photo's alone but like other reviewers have highlighted - its a prison themed hotel and they are trying to be authentic (so please don't expect a Marriott)!!! The coffee here is the best money can buy in Bangkok and the staff always have a lovely smile. I would definitely recommend a night stay here just for the novelty element!!!

Annie is so hardworking, considerate, and helpful! Her hostel really feels more like a guesthouse. It's very clean and quiet, and if you're looking for a peaceful place to stay in Bangkok—look no further than here. My partner and I stayed in a double-ensuite room for three nights. The room was a bit small, but that is to be expected for the price and the location. It would have been fine for a solo traveler for a few more nights, but I think if you're traveling as a couple, it may be a bit cramped for longer-term stays. The hostel is located right by the BTS, which makes it super convenient and easy to get around the city. If checking out the madness on Khao San Road is on your to-do list, there's also a bus stop right across the street, where you can catch an air-conditioned bus for 20 baht that will take you straight to Khao San Road. (Annie has tons of maps and will be extremely helpful in terms of telling you exactly how to get to wherever you need to go. She's also very detail-oriented, and she will go above an beyond to make sure you are aware of all the ins-and-outs for each option.) There are a few 7-11's on the main road right by the hostel, and there's a Starbucks, a Tesco & Lotus with a food court, a Tom N Tom's coffee, and a small new mall at the next BTS stop (On Nut). (You can also easily walk there in about 15 minutes—maybe even a little less.) The aircon worked quite well in our room—just needed to give it a few minutes to get going, and there were plenty of outlets in for charging. Hot water works well, and the water pressure is quite good. Annie provides free bananas, tea, instant coffee, and toast for breakfast. (But she politely requests that all eating be done in the communal area to avoid ants in the rooms). She also offers laundry services if needed. The WiFi is pretty good. We noticed it was much stronger on the first floor (communal floor) than on the fourth floor (where we were staying). I'm an English teacher who works online, so I really need strong, consistent connection in my room. While we were staying here, I needed to turn on my personal wireless router to teach. Just a heads up if you're in a similar situation. But also know that Annie is friendly and helpful enough that if you were in a bind, she'd probably find a way for you to plug in directly to the router. All in all, a great find! For the price, facilities, and hospitality, I don't think it gets much better than Chan Cha La 99. Highly recommend! Thanks so much for everything Annie! :) (Plug: if you're looking for more SEA-related travel tips and advice, you can give me a follow on Instagram @abbyfaires.writes.)

When my wife told me she booked a hostel for us and two kids I was like "no way" This was just after new year, I thought the place would be full of drunk noisey backpackers. But no, it is no where near the drinking areas no crazy noisy people. We stayed in a private room not the dorm. Positives. Two minute walk from BTS. It is a little out from main city but does not take long. We were allowed to have our two kids stay, we pushed the beds together 4 of us slept very well. Actually the beds were better than the hotels we stayed at. The rooms were large and clean, water in the shower was good and hot, room was more like a hotel than a hostel. Breakfast included, very simple, toast and instant coffee. (lets not forget it is a hostel not hotel) 7/11 is right next door. second hand book store a few stations away. Staff were great. Negatives. The common room was next to our private room, There was a young girl Talking on skype, and sound was very clear in our room. I asked her to go downstairs and she did. After that was very quiet. A little far from main areas. ( I am talking 15-20 minutes at the most) Not many negative for what you get and the price. We stayed two nights, I slept very well both nights. it is also not far from the airport 16 km I think it was. We walked to the main road, got a taxi to the airport we were there in around 30 mins. location makes it very easy to leave Bangkok. As it is not in the main areas you dont have the crazy traffic.

Booked an executive one bedroom and one living room. The hotel has been contacted by email approximately one week before departure to confirm the order, room type and flight, and would like to arrange high-level and quiet rooms. But unfortunately when we found the room, we found that the 12-storey hotel was arranged to the second floor and the view was towards the parking lot. Very very disappointed, even if there is a beautiful terrace, there is no view, although the price is very high. But this time it was an unpleasant room arrangement. I don't know if the price is so flat because of Ctrip booking, so the view is so bad. In addition, the hot water heater is a water storage type, so there is only a period of time when there is hot water and it returns to cold water. Be careful when you take a shower.

Only one advantage is that it is close to the airport. Everyone else can do it. When I booked, I need to pick up the phone in the order. When I was ready to take off, I didn’t know how to pick up the phone. I called the hotel and asked him how to pick up the phone. The hotel communication was not good, it would not be Chinese and English. I understand that he replied to me to find a booking website, and then I found Ctrip, Ctrip as a middleman, this is not good enough. Then I waited for an hour and a half to Ctrip to reply. After arriving between 4f3 and 4, there is a place of 5 square meters dedicated to the hotel and various pick-ups. The names are people, many people are sitting inside. L24 is shared with another hotel, a piece of paper, and then everyone can unclear the order and show it to others. Don't ask, others will help you find the person in charge of your hotel shunting, because sitting inside There are so many people, I was not sure if it was the place to pick up the plane. The person responsible for dispatching the vehicle is a very full woman. Without a smile, the tone is fierce. The driver who picks up the plane does not take the initiative to help with the luggage. If you sit in the first row, you can see that the driver’s center console is very deliberate. A 100-pig banknote, and when it arrives, it has the action of taking the center console. I asked for a tip, but the people I passed didn't see it. Only when I saw it, I chose to ignore it. First, I didn't like to reach out. Second, his service was not worth my tip. If you want to drop off (only one-way pick-up service) or late check-out (check-out time is 12 noon), you will have to pay an extra 100 pigs.

This was the time I lived on a self-help trip nine years ago. Going back again is to ask for a convenience and parity. It is on the edge of Khao San Road, but it is not troubleous. I want to make a road to Khao San Road. It will be quieter and safer than living on Khao San Road. There is a swimming pool upstairs, but this time we didn't go up, we will consider staying here next time, because it is too convenient and too cheap~ but the room is simple enough for backpackers. I like the design sense or choose another one~ The picture is a laneway restaurant that comes out, and the atmosphere is quiet at night~ It is another style of Khao San Road area~

Well, where shall I begin! This was our first stay at The Athene Hotel and check-in was first class. We were facilitated by Sopeido (hope I've spelled that right), such a polite individual with a lovely smile. We were upgraded (lovely) to a delightful king sized room on the 24th floor. Our room had everything and more to make us feel that little bit special and the bed was so comfortable and cleanliness was at a premium. All the staff we encountered were so helpful and nothing was a problem during our stay. The gym and pool facilities are excellent, in particular the gym equipment is so modern and the changing rooms are 5 star. Breakfast is up there with the best of 5 star buffets. So much choice and tastes across the board. Again the staff were so helpful in these stressful times. The lobby area is luxurious and the ambience so relaxing. Will we visit again? You can be sure of it and we are already looking to book a stay again in the near future, but for a longer period of time. Many thanks to all the staff we encountered for which the management must be so proud.
