My wife and I stayed 2 nights. Arriving by train from Astana, a $3 taxi ride brought us 5 km to this new hotel surrounded by the 2011 Hockey, Tennis, and Boxing School, of which this hotel is attached. The English speaking receptionist quickly checked us in and provided our key card, directing us to the carpeted hall and our #112. The large modern room had a single duvet queen with desk and chair, TV above (CNN, BBC, Euro News), refer below, large closet, and fully outfitted bathroom. The 7 AM buffet breakfast included choices from an Apple I Pad Menu where we chose Rice/Semolina Porridge and Fried Eggs/Omelet. served in a formal lounge-type setting. We walked to the new KFC 400 meters south (across the huge flagpole) and the Korzina Supermarket 700 meters to the east. Receptionist provided taxis for ~$3 rides to Independence Square, Zoo Park, then the Central Mosque. For us, this first class hotel is quiet, in the center of the new city, and offers good value at ~$52/night.

We stayed here during a weekend business trip to Karaganda. The hotel is on a small side street just by Mira Boulevard, one of the main streets in the city, so the surrounding area has many good restaurants and cafes. The decor is very nice, with sweeping marble staircases and reproductions of famous art deco works. Our room was on the second floor and quite large, with a huge bathroom. Nice touches in the room included a complimentary bottle of water and dressing gowns. There was a fridge/mini-bar, but no in-room kettle or coffe maker - hot water was available from the bar downstairs. The bed was very comfortable and big enough for our three-month old son to sleep with us safely. The water pressure was good and there was plenty of hot water in the mornings. Breakfast was excellent, a buffet with a good variety of items as well as eggs cooked to order. The staff were very pleasant and spoke some English. The only drawback to the hotel was the lack of an elevator, which meant we had to carry our stroller up and down stairs. Despite that I enjoyed my stay very much and would definitely stay here again if I return to Karaganda.

Metelica is a relatively new hotel, close to one of the main roads through the city. Located in an inner yard, the sound from the traffic is almost zero. My room was rather tiny, with one big bed, a table and a chair, and important; a fridge to keep the water bottle cold (a new bottle every day). The style reminds me of Britain, with thick curtains, soft carpets on the floor and the heavy furniture. The hotel offers free wi-fi in all rooms. The bathroom has standard european equipment, and the shower gives plenty of water (but with somewhat fluctuating temperature). The reception offers 24 hour service and can help you with getting a taxi and such problem-solving. The reception handles the english language. Price tag is modest. My single-bed room did cost approx 35€ per night, but there are several different types of rooms. The hotel restaurant offers some pre-defined breakfast dishes of a decent quality. Nothing fancy, just a meal to get you started. The restaurant also has a dinner service with different dishes, and I recommend the grilled salmon or the grilled pepper beef combined with fried potato (really good taste). The price tag for a good dinner equals approx 10-15€. The staff has problems with the english language, but somehow things works out fine (but the service time can bee slightly long). The standard of the restaurant and the food is OK, but if you want to impress a customer with a fine dinner, I would recommend a restaurant more used to international customers. I can recommend this hotel for business stay! BTW: The gardening by the hotel entrance is very nice!

We were a party of 6 people in the City to run a regional event and the others had used this hotel before and spoke very highly of it. I was seriously impressed with the size and quality of the apartment (we had the 35 sq metre rooms). The design is excellent, with a divider separating the bedroom area, and we were able to use the sitting area for meetings and catch up. This is the first place I have stayed that had universal sockets installed as the standard. The kitchen was sparkling clean and great for making drinks etc. We dined elsewhere in the City but breakfast was a standard buffet, perfectly acceptable. Reception staff were professional and helpful - what's not to like?

We had stayed in Cosmonaut hotel 3 times and quite happy with the property and service. First 2 our stays we had chosen Suite room and last stay we had stayed in King Room, as we were always outside and found unreasonable to pay 3 times difference for Suite just to sleep in. The Suite is really great and has all necessary facilities, the King room is good but needs some renovations like wallpapers had couple of holls and curtains looked pretty old, apart of that room is fine- spacious, bathroom well equipped with all necessary amenities. Cleaning was always on a high level, breakfast was nice not too rich in varieties but had always fresh and tasty food we had enjoyed. Personal is polite and friendly, always ready to help and meet guests requests. Hotel has beautiful and very cozy lobby bar, serving food and drinks. There is Zuma restaurant next to the hotel which is nice venue to chill out in the evening and to have dinner. In general hotel is really good actually the best in Karaganda so far, just few small points, regarding room renovation I have mentioned above, made me to rate the property as Very Good but not Excellent.

We have stayed to the hotel for a night! pros: -the staff was very friendly and polite despite of the fact that did not speak English at all -room was spacious and clean cons: -poor breakfast -Internet did not work properly in the room only in the lobby of the hotel -the hotel is not located centrally (the area looked to be very isolated) -bathroom needs renovation and the light is not adequate at all - the bed was small and you could turned round with difficulty I would not recommend this hotel for more than one night
