This hotel is a hidden gem. After considering several nearby hotels for a special occasion reception and dinner for 30 guests, we selected the Bethesdan for its variety of catering and bar option packages, selection of function rooms, location within walking distance to the Metro, and reasonable price. Out of town guests raved about the size and contemporary appointments of the rooms, and the food at the reception and dinner went well beyond typical hotel banquet food and exceeded our expectations. This is a newly renovated property re-established as a Hilton Tapestry Hotel and therefore was pretty much below the radar of many of the attendees who lived nearby. Staff and management were flexible and attentive. Highly recommend.

We stayed at the American Inn and used the Metro to get into Washington DC to do some sightseeing. This hotel is about a 15 minute walk to the nearest Metro station. By purchasing a metro pass, you can get anywhere in DC and not have to attempt the traffic, which is a HUGE plus. Not to mention, this hotel has tons of restaurants around it, and a top rated Mexican restaurant in it. You won’t lack for choices here. The rooms themselves are nice and clean. Not a lot of modern touches, but you get super fast WiFi, and Directv service. Breakfast is complimentary and is served from 6:30-9:30 am and has hot and cold choices. Again, everyone can find something they like to start their day. The staff are very pleasant and welcoming. Parking is limited, but also free. If you can’t find a spot on the site, they work with you to accommodate for it. We chose to stay here based on recommendations from friends. The rates are less than finding a room in DC and the free parking and breakfast was a bonus. Let’s face it, you aren’t going to be hanging out in your room all day, so why pay extra for something. The American Inn was a perfect fit for us, and I would definitely recommend and return here in the future.

This was our third stay - the last one being 9 years ago. I have given 2 glowing reviews in the past. Unfortunately, this hotel has gone down in quality. The room our in-laws stayed in had very old dried dog poop in the corner behind the chair. Front desk apologized and moved them. For us: although the thermostat was off the first night, a vent facing the bed was blowing very cold air out. It luckily resolved itself the second night. The bathroom floor never fully seemed clean, nor did the shower (random hair found throughout). The fitted sheets don't fit the bed and kept coming off (others have mentioned yet it remains unchanged). The bathroom sink was very slow. I expressed these concerns to the front desk and they were apologetic and sympathetic. So the staff was nice, etc. Would we stay again? Maybe? But I'd definitely check the prices of other hotels in the area first. P.S. The lobby coffee is awful so I highly recommend going to Tattee down the street.

This property is wonderful. Not your typical full service hotel but it has a very historic feel to it. The front desk staff was very sweet . The gentlemen who checked in (the night of 03/09) was very knowledgeable, informative, & welcoming. The rooms were spacious and clean. A bit outdated but still felt comfortable. The bed was big , the pillows were soft and comfortable, and the blankets were nice and clean. After long day of traveling and working , this was absolutely perfect. The front desk attendant in the morning (03/10) was busy but still ensured that my check out was easy. She was kind and helpful. Thank you for a wonderful stay. If I ever come back to the area, this will definitely be my go to spot. -Tara Ifill

I have stayed at this hotel repeatedly over the past 5 years. I was surprised to see these recent reviews describing it as dirty. (I wonder if housekeeping broke down over Covid?) My most recent stay was on the 8th floor. It was quiet, clean, and pleasant, and large rooms. The suite feature gives one plenty of room; many large city hotel rooms are tiny. Full breakfast open 7-10 am with made to order omelettes and pancakes, along with many other choices. They used to have complimentary Happy Hour about 5 pm, that has not yet resumed since Covid. I found the staff to be exceptionally gracious and helpful. They helped me with my IPad connection. When the business center copier was down, they made copies for me at the front desk. When I needed help with something, they came up. When I checked in, I was served by a very tall (over 6’) young woman who was just delightful. If you want a quick bite, you can walk over to the Cheesecake Factory which is just steps away from the hotel front desk and you don’t have to go outside. Very convenient. The hotel sits atop the Friendship Heights Red Line Metro Station and you can enter the metro via elevator, To see sites, the metro is often faster than a cab. If you arrive at DCA, it is easy to take the metro from the airport to this hotel and back again. The swim lessons in the pool is true and a pain. Tip: business center is on 3, you can make copies and print from internet with their computers. Room key opens the door. Tip: If you are staying for any college functions from the surrounding universities, reserve well in advance. They often get full quickly. Tip: One of the closest nice hotels to American University.

I stayed in Washington for a few days. On the last day, because I caught up with the police week, all the hotels rushed to the price and had to move from near the scenic spot. For one reason, next to the red line subway station, it is very convenient to go to Union Station the next morning. . I don't like the front desk staff, the attitude is hard. I also asked for the address when I checked in. I asked why, saying that Washington is unified. However, none of the hotels I lived in the vicinity of the White House a few days ago requested to fill in the address. After I raised this point, the front desk turned a blind eye and ignored me. This is still 1300 blocks a night, will not come later.

This is a long time coming. I stayed at the hotel in January just for one night. I’d stayed there before but it appeared to not be on record. But anyway, I was checked in by Ethiopia and she was explaining the hotel and I mentioned I’d stayed before. Love the hotel which is why I go back. Shortly after getting to my room I get a knock at the door. Low and behold it’s Ethiopia with a “welcome” bag with all these nutritious snacks. LOL! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. That was AMAZING customer service!!! So again, kudos to Ethiopia!!
