Scarborough
|1.3km from city centerGood value for money with the real plus points being the friendly staff and good food. The hotel has a small pool which is big enough to get some exercise in. The breakfast was good quality and the evening meal was of a good standard. It was a shame the restaurant wasn’t used more in the evening and I can’t help thinking that a two courses for £17 and three for £20 type daily offer wouldn’t see it used more and reward the effort the chef puts into the meals Overall a good stay and the hotel did what it said on the tin. We would book here again.

|0.27km from city centerWhen I arrived at the Granby Hotel in Scarborough I was a little disappointed, the exterior and communal areas looked neglected and tired. The reception and seating area reminded me of a working men's club! I booked in and I was given my room key. I stayed in room 5, a twin room, this was one of the few rooms available in Scarborough for that night. The room, bedding and towels were clean and smelt fresh. I settled down to watch TV but was distracted by another guests mobile phone - every time they received a message I could hear their phone buzzing and vibrating in the next room - this was a regular occurrence for over three hours. The walls are thin! Thankfully the buzzing stopped before I settled down to sleep. At around 11pm the hotel went quiet; it was peaceful and calm, I fell asleep easily. I woke once in the night aching as I sleep on my front or side and the mattress was firm, so I woke; hips, shoulders and lower back aching. Eventually I fell back to sleep and in the morning l woke feeling quite rested. The morning was similar to the evening you could hear other guests moving around, their conversations and them taking a shower! The bathroom in the twin room is small, but functional, the shower definitely wasn't a power shower! I would stay at The Granby Hotel again. There is parking to the side and rear of the hotel. The majority of the parking is pay and display with a couple of disabled bays (you still have to pay). If you have a Yorkshire County Council parking disc there is two hours free parking in bays at the side of the Granby Hotel. Yorkshire County Council parking discs are available from a number of retailers in the town and are free - they allow free parking in certain areas of the town for a limited time.

|0.19km from city centerI have just returned home from a Majestic Holiday stay at the above venue .I am going to be honest the room we stayed in was clean had fresh linen on arrival ,comfortable and quiet .It is a old hotel but the communal areas were good ranging from a grand foyer to a clean friendly reception .I have no criticism of the breakfast food and range of items,it was good.On the other hand the main meals were stodgy no inventive bland overcooked limited vegetables chicken legs that looked that they had come off very old birds pork steaks rubbery chewy and tasteless .On the last night I had scampi which was very good this was the only one of the 4 night meals I had whicn was worth eating. The sad thing is for dessert that night was I had with tinned fruit the poorest custard I have ever eaten watery made with just hot water and limited custard powder that is my last memory of the restaurant. .The bar was good earlier in the week the gentleman and the mature lady were very good hardworking and pleasant .The prices in the bar very reasonable the Tetley beer well looked after. The only team member who disturbed me was on the last night was DICK TURPIN a scruffy abrupt man wearing a black hand kerchief as a mask, did he have Covid making the bar team look like farce this did not give that area a very professional look.On checkout Imust congratulate the reception team who all holiday were attentive polite and professional..I have been truthful about this venue

|0.26km from city centerFirst the positives.
The room was very clean, comfortable and bathroom was obviously recently refurbished.
Breakfast was excellent and good value, but more on that later.
Now the not so good, or could do better!
The check in policy is ludicrous, I understand they need to have a designated check in time, but whilst waiting (40 minutes) I overheard the staff clearly stating that all rooms were ready for guests, but as people were entering the reception they were informed that check was not possible until 3pm and they had to wait or pay £10.00 for an early check in!
The result was a packed reception and when they did commence check in, due to a “new system “ it was painfully slow! Very poor customer service.
The breakfast was good value, but the attitude of the cashier guy was poor at best, probably rude if to be defined. On approaching him I was asked “ breakfast for two “ to which I replied “ no there’s only one” to which he snapped “ well I’m not to know that!”
Not expected and yes rude!

|1.3km from city centerWe booked a 4 night stay at this wonderful house and it was absolutely delightful. The staff were superb and couldn't do enough for us. Sadly after 2 nights we had to leaved due to ill health, but the compassion/help by the staff was superb. A beautiful place to stay at as the standard in this house are more than A1. It is impeccable and truly a magnificent place to stay at. The breakfast was lovely and a huge choice. However, apart from booking an apartment which has a lift, there are many stairs to climb, which could be problematic to people who have certain needs. Also breakfast is served in the basement which adds to more stairs.

|0.3km from city centerMy wife and I stayed at The Grand back on 25/03/22 and we were so impressed that we just had to return. The staff are still helpful and friendly, the food is excellent and the room we stayed in was impressive. It was clean, comfy and had just been decorated and fitted with a power shower. The seagulls on our window sill could be quite noisy, but remember we are at the seaside! We paid £200 in total for bed, breakfast and evening meal, which I found to be excellent value. Disregard all the negative reports that you read about this hotel, make a visit and decide for yourself. Perhaps, if these people want 5 star, that will have to pay 5 star prices. We will certainly be visiting The Grand again.

|0.71km from city centerNo hot water for bath or shower, water little more than lukewarm. Nothing was done to address this despite two reminders. They knew of issue but failed to inform us at time of taking room. Breakfast in room booked for 8am not delivered by 8.30so called to chivvy it up, hadn't arrived 20mins later rang again, another 15 mins hadn't arrived was about to go down, but had eventually arrived over hour after booked. Same on day three, no apologies or asking if we had enjoyed our stay. This spoilt a badly needed break , room had been upgraded hence 2*, but poor for hotel of this 'standard', have stayed many times in past, but never again. It like a place that is near to closure, and cares more about money than the customer. Won't repeat a stay here again. Also could not book a table in dining room on two out of three nights between 6 and 8pm, as they had coach party. So we voted with feet and took our money elsewhere, thank God we did!

|1.73km from city centerHeading here for work accommodation as a Nurse commuting to the area, I'd had to catch 4 trains and had lots of delays, a 45min walk from the train station lugging my pile of bags . I walked in the entrance of the Premier Inn and got the warmest welcome of all-time staff member Jacob had a massive genuine smile and right away asked about me, advised me and supported what I needed . Totally brilliant Chap should be a Manager great represention of the brand , I'd employ this guy every day of the week The hotel is newly built very smart. There is parking including disabled parking ehich near the entrance but its pay by the day. The entrance is well illuminated and very smart. As well as stairs there are lifts available. The rooms are large well represented. You do have to leave your door card in the socket to keep the lights on. Hair dryers are wired into the rooms with their own mirrors . Lots of hanging space and a large draw for storage Plenty of plugs all around the room with usb poets built in next to the bed. Windows are none opening so you can't get a nice breeze my only flat with the room. Showers are very powerful and hot but are the stand inside the bath rather than a shower cabinet Large TV but you can't get to the USB slot to add your fire stick or chrome cast etc . Kettle and a range of supplies tea bags coffee sachets are in each room. The hotel is perfectly placed for North Bay attractions with good views due to its elevated position on the top of the hill The ground floor has several vending machines which are well stocked I can't comment on the restaurant or food because its all closed at this time due to covid There are plenty of food delivery services in the area which deliver to the hotel and there is a Tesco Express with 3 mins walk. I would refer people to use this hotel and I would use it again myself.

|0.47km from city centerNothing better than amazing we arrived and were welcomed with a warm greeting everything explained and could preorder our cooked breakfast for the morning, shown to our room a little different to what we expected but none the less comfortable and well presented,if I'd realised how close to the sea we were I would have booked for a sea view but there is always next time as we would most definately stay again, found a lovely Chinese restaurant just around the corner have some lovely sea air strokes and then retired to bed for the best night's sleep. Came down for breakfast nothing too much trouble had a table set with sea view just perfect can't fault the amazing breakfast and the best huge pot of coffee we will certainly return worth every penny
