Our room lightings were not so good so everything looks old and food did not look appetizing. A small garden in front of our room on the third floor had so many tall weeds growing and disappointing. That’s why I gave three stars. Dinner and breakfast were served on time in our room and futon beds were made on time as well. Our server was very pleasant and accommodating. Hot spring bath was very good. I did not go to outdoor hot spring bath, but it looked good. It is located on a hill. We took a taxi from Yumoto JR station and paid 1,000 yen. It may be too far and too hilly to walk from the train station. We received a gift to stay this hotel but I think we got a lower end of accommodation and meal set (estimated one night stay 20,000 yen per room for two people and two meals each) so if you paid more, it may be more pleasant stay there. Over all it was average good with three stars for our stay.

On the website, I booked a standard double bed room on floors 3-4, with a view, but I lived in a camping room outside. The toilets and shower rooms are shared outside. The hotel rooms and campsites need to walk up and down a mountain road, which is scary at night. Dinner is a set meal with barbecue. It is windy and cold on the mountain, not recommended.

The actual experience turned out to be more than satisfactory, after the initial disappointment of a narrow and crowded lobby. As the property was initially a resort apartment residence and not a hotel, rooms are actually fully equipped and spacious. The dinner was way better than at similar properties, with a high-quality buffet in addition to tasty and copious dishes prepared and served at the table. The 60-minute all you can drink is good value, and the breakfast buffet was also well appointed. The hot spring, although quite small, is pleasant and accessible from inside the hotel. The property is also barrier-free, as our family included a wheelchair-bound senior. Prices are more attractive if you avoid Fridays and Saturdays and the shuttle service from and back to Atami station is smooth.

The service and meals are very good, the invincible sea view room, and the open air bathing soup are all good experiences. It is not enough to go into the hotel, and it is not enough to eat and drink. Both meals are in the room, the service is super good, and the level of cooking is quite high. I took a photo and it seems that it is too big to be transmitted. Anyway, the visual taste is good.

"Geihinkan" means "Guest House" and this is part of the Atami Golf Club, a beautiful facility situated high above the center. One doesn't need to be a golfer to stay here since the rooms in the Geihinkan are open to all. And what lovely rooms they are. My wife and I stayed for two nights in a twin-bedded room on the 3rd floor (the entrance is on the 2nd floor) overlooking the ocean. Far bigger than the general hotel rooms in Japan, it was well-appointed with plenty of cupboard space and a spacious bathroom, capped off by a constantly flowing onsen bath. What a delight that was! I wish I had one at home but digging almost 2 km to achieve that isn't really feasible. The staff are extremely courteous, very friendly and most helpful. The hotel in general is kept very clean and tidy. The only negative point I found is the quality of food and the sake (nihonshu) which I wish, and hoped, would have been better. Whilst there were some good dishes, the sashimi, apart from the Hamachi (Yellowtail), were quite disappointing. We had ordered the optional food upgrade menu which included Ise-ebi (Spiny Lobster). This was quite good, although very small. The sake was fairly expensive and the selection not so good, but this is a personal opinion and others may find them to their liking. Breakfast was Japanese style. This was fine but it would have been nice to have had a Western-style option. A few other points: The hotel is about a ten minute taxi ride from the station at a cost of around 1100-1200 yen. The queue for taxis can be quite long at weekends and national holidays, with the mid-size taxi line being far shorter than the small size (not much difference in cost). For the return, the hotel will call a taxi and it takes around ten minutes (maybe slightly less) for it to arrive. It's not advisable to walk since the road is long and winding, and very steep. Dinner and breakfast are taken in the club house building which is a very short walk, outdoors, from the Geihinkan. There are also onsen baths for men and women in the club house building but while the locker rooms are quite large, the baths are small. We found no need to use them in view of the wonderful bath in the room. All-in-all though, we were very happy with our stay and will probably go again.

Typical family-friendly hotel, staying experience is very good, come and comment. Transportation: We take a taxi to and from Atami Station. I later learned that the hotel has a shuttle bus, which runs about half an hour, which is very convenient. Sakura Street and the sea are within walking distance, not far. Service: The service staff who picked up the car downstairs was not very enthusiastic, and the restaurant upstairs was pretty good. Baths: The hotel has two large baths, one is the sea view, on the fifth floor of the main building, this is open at any time, as long as you want to go (there are also open-air soup). There is also a leisure bathhouse where the famous open-air infinity sea bath is located, which is called Fuua. This is a special feature and hotel guests can enter and leave for free once. Fuua is beautiful, comfortable and worth the experience. Breakfast: the disadvantage is that there is no espresso, and the second is that the breakfast reception time is too short. Other perfect, typical Japanese breakfast, delicious. Indoor facilities: The room is bigger than expected, the sea view room is super beautiful, and the mountain view is also good. Two single beds can be pushed together to become a large bed. Don't worry about families with children. Overall the staying experience is great, next time I go to Atami!

The hotel is about an eight to ten minute walk from the station. It's downhill going so fairly easy but quite a climb on the way back, especially with a bag in tow. The quickest route from the station takes you to the back of the hotel. On entry a staff member greeted us and we were asked to take a seat while they checked the reservation and paperwork. All went very smoothly and we were taken to our room and the facilities explained. Perhaps half the rooms do not have a view and I chose one that didn't since it came with a private onsen bath. The twin room was quite large and had double wash basins, a separate toilet, a small refrigerator, a pot for boiling water, and tea and coffee packs. All the necessary amenities such as toothbrushes, razors, shower caps, cotton pads, brushes were also provided. Towels were plentiful also. If you use the communal onsen baths, you take the towels from the room with you. The hotel pajamas are excellent. So good, in fact, that my wife bought a pair from the gift shop near the lobby and the only reason I didn't was the size. Negative points: care needed to be taken when going between the bed area and the washbasins since there was a slight step where one could trip or stub a toe, and there is also a raised bar when entering the bath area. The onsen bath needs filling for use and this takes about 40 minutes, and the wifi in the room was very slow, about 5mps. After dropping off the bags in our room, we headed down to the lounge area where coffee, various teas, juices, and cookies are provided to guests, free of charge, between 2pm and 5pm. We had dinner in the restaurant (French) on the 3rd floor. This is also where breakfast is taken. I had reserved the course menu for the first night only, in advance. The food didn't disappoint, the wine was quite good although a bit overpriced, and the service excellent. Following dinner we headed to the bar, which is on the 2nd floor up the stairs from the lounge area. My reservation included free flowing cocktails (and wine, basic whisky) for 2 hrs. How good is the bartender! I had some of the best cocktails I have had in a long time. As a note. the free-flowing drink option can be had for 3,500 yen a person at the time and, of course, other cocktails and liquors are available at individual pricing. Breakfast started at 7.30 and this is a vegetarian (or vegan) paradise. I don't think I have ever seen such a wide variety of fresh vegetables available in any hotel. There were also gratin dishes, eggs, small sausages, yogurt, fruit, cereal, bread, deserts, juices and a number of small bowls containing a variety of other options. Very filling and quite nutritious. The next two evenings we took dinner at izakaya not too far from the hotel but we returned in the evening to the bar, and those great cocktails. All-in-all, a great stay, with excellent staff. We will no doubt choose to stay here again on our next visit to Atami. (extra note: the car park is, or was, 1200 ye

Stayed for 4 nights after trawling round several different places in Japan. Had originally booked to stay somewhere else in Atami but I’m glad I changed to Megumi. It’s very close to the railway station. Hint: check your emails when you book as there is a quick and easy route from the station to the guest house which is not the Google maps route. The guest house send you a link to a 3 minute YouTube video which shows the route from the station. I stayed in a dorm room which had added privacy curtains to the roomy beds. It was a little stuffy in the evening as the a/c doesn’t generally get turned on until 9pm. Free tea, coffee and water is provided in the tv room and there are all the usual things to ensure that you can be self sufficient. The rooftop terrace has a tremendous view over the beach and sea, as do some of the private rooms. The staff are friendly and helpful. There’s nothing I didn’t like about this place.

Stayed one night in the ryukan in a tour. Amazing experience like a real ryukan. The room is big and during the yum traditional dinner they made the traditional bed. The view from the rooms are aging over the sea but I needed earplug for the crashing waves. The onsen is a must visit so relaxing and includes the shower toiletries and yukata . Breakfast was a little chaotic but good overall. And finally the free shuttle to atami is great

This is my favorite retreat for the weekend from Tokyo. Atami is only 40 minutes away from Tokyo by Shinkansen. Taikanso is the authentic Japanese hot spring Ryokan, which was originally the country retreat of a Japanese steel tycoon. It is perched on the hill overlooking the Pacific Ocean and Izu islands. I particularly love the recently introduced suite room, consisted of a separate twin bed room, large Japanese tatami room, living space with comfortable sofa and cutting edge high-tech massage machine, as well as dedicated bathroom with wood bathtub and 100% pure hot spring water. The Japanese bathroom opens up to the wooden balcony with deck chairs. Everything is meticulously maintained and super clean. Bathroom has ample amenities. All rooms have wifi, which works nicely. Taikanso also has three different large public baths, where you can enjoy different atmosphere and scenery. If you have time, the large Japanese garden has flowers of seasons and a Japanese pond with beautiful carps, You can get free fish food from the front desk during the morning time. For dinner, you can enjoy very authentic Japanese course, Sushi course or Japanese top grade beef grill. As this is Japanese ryokan, you change into Japanese Kimono (Yukata) once you arrive and can move anywhere and enjoy dinner in Kimono (Yukata). So relaxing. If you want to relax more, you can arrange aroma massage as well as foot bath and steam bath. By prior arrangement Taikanso is running a shuttle bus from Atami station which is very handy. Hotel staffs are very well trained professionals and they tend to all your needs before you notice. All in all, this is the super weekend Japanese authentic retreat for relax, detox and recharge.

hotel web said all room are seaview, but actually some rooms are side face to the sea, especially every floor room 1and 2 face to a very old dirty building. Room 3,4,5 is good view but a little expensive. Hotel is new , room is not big but clean and pretty good for younger or solo, the balcony bath is true hotspring water. Food is buffet , just so so. If u can get sale price this hotel is not bad. for me, I will not go again if normal Price.
