|0.3km from city centerI really wanted to give this place a 4 star, but the location of a wedding party opposite my room and the surprising lack of breakfast ( just a box of weetabix and some cookies) made it a little disappointing for me….. That’s a shame as the hotel/pub is a nice place., tranquil (when there is no wedding), a few meters from a great walking path along the coast towards Nelson or Richmond and with a fine pub with good food all on site. The staff are friendly, rooms are clean (if starting to look a little tired) and have most things you could need, even a spa bath! If I was here again however I would investigate the newer and better looking hotel over the road…..

Especially watching a live game of rugby( all blacks beating the boks)
Very comfortable beds great linen and pillows we stayed in a twin poolside room with spabath and 2 double beds

Our hosts Ric and Tina were absolutely amazing and went over and above to service us. They offered beach towels for outings, washing and drying services and daily cleans. Can't recommend this place enough! 20/10!

The kitchen and bathroom facilities are complete, and the separate kitchen is suitable for those who like to cook their own meals. If you bring a child, you will have to pay for the child. Filling out the child information when booking a room automatically calculates the room rate and automatically assigns the appropriate room. If you temporarily increase your child's stay, you will need to add a child's room rate. This is a motel with plenty of parking.

The main reason for the down review is I had booked with a voucher for the first night that included breakfast. I asked for 2 more nights and expected breakfast. When I checked in, I validated it was but when we checked out was told not the case so we paid $69 (2 pax) per day for an avg breakfast that had we known we would have gone elsewhere and paid less. Mgr on duty would not budge or even apologise. Disappointed as I would have rated much higher

It’s quiet, and with a very comfortable bed meant we had a couple of good nights sleep. It’s an easy 10 minute stroll to the centre of town and restaurants. We’ll be back for a third stay in the future.

All admin staff very friendly and helpful. The units were extremely clean and well appointed for our needs. With a supermarket across the road and a walk of ten minutes into town this was a great position. Highly recommend and would definitely stay again.

|0.41km from city centerAttempting to check in when the property Network Interface was not connected, causing our Card Transactions to decline, was an all to accurate fore-taste of things yet to come. The property owners (Paul and Adele, nominally) had seen fit to 'bugger off' for the holidays, leaving poor Gail (a friend, apparently) to look after everything in their absence. Poor Gail managed to get the Network running, but the room WiFi didn't work. She fixed this, bless her. Then, the Spa bath !! It was filthy and didn't work and remained so for the duration of our 3 night stay, despite the cleaners giving the bath a good clean the next day. My advice ? Stay WELL CLEAR of this poorly maintained and poorly managed property. And, by the way. The outdoor furniture was just shoddy white iron table and chairs, in no way, resembling that in the published photograph.

Everything was perfect and we would be happy to stay here again. An added bonus was each of us receiving a quality free espresso/latte at a nearby cafe which apparently is within the same ownership.

|0.6km from city centerStayed one night with 6 birth RV on grassed powered spot in Oct 2023. First off, this site is huge. The largest we stayed on in 15 days of touring South Island. That said, the facilities are clean and all work as they should. Worth noting some facility blocks are locked up in quieter times. Wifi was supplied It is right on Tahunanui Beach which is a real bonus. Take a walk out and it is huge and beautiful in a rugged desolate way. Huge driftwood scatters the sand. The sea was dramatic the day we went and all the better for it. We had a space overlooking it and it was a joy to wake up to. Check in was easy and the map very clear. Worth noting this as it is like entering a small village. If you are staying in Nelson then you could do a lot worse.

Fantastic shower best I've personally come across. Kitchen extemely well equiped with full size oven and large fridge-freezer. Friendly owners and so obliging. Great swimming pool and BBQ area. Pool heated. Very close to eateries and the beautiful Tahunanui Beach. We didnt want to leave! 3rd time staying here and will certainly be back again.

|0.79km from city centerThe location is very good. Right next to the beach. It is close to McDonald's and KFC, liquor stores, restaurants, and children's playgrounds. Hygienic and clean. But the room facilities are older. The toilet seat lids are so old they don't look good and won't be replaced. The power safe is in the bedroom, and the sound of the current is loud and harsh. It's fine during the day, but too harsh at night. Said to fix it, but never came. There was no parking space when I went back after dinner. One day, the staff drove away her car and gave up the parking space. Later, when it was later, we tried not to drive. The service staff were very responsive, we had already left and they called to say we had left behind our children's clothes. really thankful.

The room was so clean, comfortable and well maintained and owners Edie and Jon were so pleasant and helpful that I'm more than happy to recommend this motel to anyone considering staying in Nelson. As a bonus, the location is only a short walk from the central city and all it offers.

|0.63km from city centerWe booked a family room with 3 bedrooms for 3 couples and 2 kids. The kitchen was quite small for a 3 bedroom family room and one of the rooms was quite small - not even enough space to open suitcases. It was cold and we found that the smallest room’s electric blanket wasn’t plugged in. To top it off there wasn’t a power outlet in the room either. Went to call reception but the phone wasn’t connected to the phone point either. Had to move the furniture to connect the phone and reception staff said the house keeping staff will look into it. I told them no one can add a power point in the room now and they said we can give you an extension cord and try and find an extra heater!!! We were traveling with parents and little kids - extension cord wasn’t an ideal solution. Went up to the reception and at one point the receptionist (who was in training) said she can give us our money back and we can leave. Where were we going to go at night with the whole family??? Eventually to resolve the issue they offered us 3 separate rooms upstairs, at least they had working heating. Next morning while trying to heat up some food, we found the microwave in one of the rooms wasn’t plugged in and there was no outlet for it either!!! Hopefully the hotel invests in making sure their appliances work and have outlets to plug them in. And provide better training to staff so they don’t put the responsibility/shift the blame on each other (reception putting it on house keeping and vice versa).

Our ensuite room was clean, comfortable and very reasonably priced and we appreciated being able to store unneeded luggage while we were away. Lots of good eateries within walking distance but if you want to self-cater there is a large and well equipped shared kitchen. The hosts were very welcoming and helpful. Take up their offer to book your taxi to the airport - the subsequent discount on the fare was a nice little end to our holiday!

|0.43km from city centerWe stayed here for two nights before and after walking the Abel Tasman Track. The welcome from the receptionist on the 15th March was very professional and polite. We had a King Studio on the 5th floor for our first stay which was clean and spacious. If you are short it would be difficult to reach some of the kitchen items on the top shelf. The central location was brilliant as we could walk to all the shops, galleries, gardens and cafes. Fresh Choice supermarket is just down the road. Kitchen is well-equipped. Great to have a washer/dryer to wash all tramping clothes after the walk. Our second stay was in a second floor room which did not have such a good view but was still excellent. We did not hear any other guest noise in either stay apart from occasional doors shutting. Outside noise is obliterated when the windows are closed - this noise was minimal anyway. House keeping staff were polite and friendly. Definitely recommended. The baggage storage facility was great for when we did the Abel Tasman Walk. Reception staff were very helpful. We felt very relaxed and comfortable in the apartment.

No bath in our suit and a little tricky carrying my fat baby up and down the stairs but considering the extra effort they went to, to make me and my sons stay as comfortable as possible it was hardly an issue. My cousin says she stays there frequently and says they always accommodate you and she has lots of kids too!

Rooms are dated but reasonably well equipped. Parking spaces are small, designed for small cars, not the huge SUVs and trucks that we all wallow around in now. Host David and his team are great, and go out of their way to help. High-speed WiFi, hundreds of Sky channels, outdoor table and a BBQ area made for a great stay. Warm and friendly holiday accommodation - recommended.

|0.39km from city centerVery warm and friendly and welcoming hosts. They went above and beyond in every way to make my stay memorable. For eg. I had traveled over 30 hours before I reached the hostel, my check in time was supposed to be 12 noon I recall (still much earlier than all others who only allow check in at 2 pm). I reached there by about 9 /9.30 am, and to my utter surprise they were kind enough to accommodate me and allowed me to take my room. It made a huge difference to me, given my tired condition then. The next day for some reason I had a small debacle with one of the tour bookings and that threatened that I would have to stay in the hotel instead of checking out if I couldn't go on the tour. They assured me they would keep the only vacant room then available in the hostel for me until my issue was sorted out. The issue got resolved and I went on the tour, but I cannot thank them enough for this gesture, it allowed me to tackle the issue with a calm mind. They also retained my belongings when I went on a trip to Abel Tasman and held it in their storage room under lock and key until I checked in again. The hostel vibes are very positive, the chocolate pudding idea is fantastic apart from the chocolate being delicious, it allows everyone to mingle. Enough wash rooms and toilets, clean place, good drying area. It is an easy walk from the market, more so the walk is a very pleasant one, as the route is nice too. The hostel is in a very nice residential area, so gives a good feel of Nelson. If I go back to Nelson, I would make sure I stay here again.
