We spent only one night in the Hotel Cerere during our week-long tour of southern Italy. Our room was great - comfortable bed, clean bathroom, refrigerator with mini-bar, sizeable wardrobe, large balcony - and the outside swimming pool looked inviting although we didn't try it. There is a large restaurant but it was virtually empty for both dinner and the following day's breakfast as our visit was out-of-season. However, it was hot and sunny even in late October! Our dinner was tasty and Salvatore, the young sommelier, recommended an excellent, inexpensive wine to us. We also met the young but very able chef - avanti SSC Napoli! All of the staff (and we do mean all) were extremely courteous, friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English. Thank you for all your help, Federica! The only disappointment was that the Trip Advisor website indicates that the hotel is only 1 km from the ancient Greek temples at Paestum - they are actually three times as far, as we discovered when we walked from them to the hotel on our first afternoon with our luggage! This was not the hotel's fault. When we made a return visit to the temples on the morning of the following day we were able to use the hotel's free bicycles - a pleasant 15 minute ride along quiet roads. A taxi would have cost €12 each way. We wished we could have stayed for much longer!

I came here with my wife and daughter thinking we would be staying at a luxury hotel....at least, that's what their website (and prices) sold itself as. So where to begin....check in was brusque to the verge of rude. It was obvious they wanted to get it over with. Once we were in our room, that's when it hit us. It was the size of an economy motel. The view was horrible, basically the roof of the lobby. Furnishings old, and maintenance really bad.... Food: Though many of the reviews I read trashed the breakfast buffet, I was actually very pleased with it. It was fresh, tasty, and well appointed with good service. One of the issues I had was after a day of driving, I checked in and figured I'd go for a swim in the pool. As soon as I dived in, I was told, courteously I must add, that it was closed to guests every day after 12:00 PM for private events! I had to leave. This was not advertised on their website..... All in all, an average stay. I wouldn't have complained had they been honest in their representation and had the prices been at a par with the grounds/service.

Exceptionally poor place. Bathroom cloaked, the room we got was stinky and poorly cleaned, and was the most expensive when we booked. It needs a full refurbishment to be “rural”, today it is just old. Please bear in mind there is no pool, some pictures are related to a place near to this one.

My husband and I stayed here with 15 others when we were on tour. Our room was modern, spacious and comfortable. We enjoyed our meals. I have attached a few photos. The WIFI worked fine. From here we visited the famous lovely Ancient Greek ruins at Paestum. The ruins were very well preserved, with several temples and columns. Visitors could walk into the temples and pose for photos next to huge tall ancient columns. A lot of school children were visiting and enjoying learning about their heritage. The ruins are surrounded by large grassy lawns. The site is peaceful.

Never thought I would have had my first holiday as a retired person at the age of 40. So take this review with a pinch of salt and just do consider what you would expect from your holiday before judging straight from my words. I'm fairly confident that when I booked, I read an "All inclusive" formula, but sadly when I arrived at the hotel, I found out this was just a full board. Probably an error of mine, which had a repercussion in the holiday as it was a bit more annoying than expected. The hotel has a direct access to a wide, great white sandy beach, certainly ideal for families, although the sea is rarely calm and having a bath is often a challenge. The hotel itself is in need of some renovation, and - although accordingly to the national regulation they seem to fit in their star categorization, as frequent traveler I would classify Schumann as 3 stars (close to superior), but certainly not four. Exceptional with the cleaning status, things that left me perplexed was the absence of a safe in the room (though service in the reception was available), or the old-fashioned doors that don't lock after yourself or the antiquate and heavy door key, or proper provisioning of toiletries. The everywhere worn carpet, or the light controller on the bedside table, the old cracking phone contributed to my perception. A very positive note for the restaurant because dishes were delicious (two exceptions out of 5 days) and well presented, but portions limited in quantity. I was indeed annoyed by the limited fish selection (not influenced by the fish stop that will start at about mid-September), which in some cases was even frozen. The vegetable buffet was somehow compensating the limited portions, but the variety of cooked vegetables was limited and repeated daily with few variances. Very depressing the breakfast, with no cooked offering and local product selection. Table service was ok, but not amazing. Be prepared to specify your lunch and dinner preferences early in the morning. Nothing troubling, but somewhat limiting, even though I've to be honest I have not in need to change any of my choices so I don't know whether this would have been possible.

Our family of four (daughters aged 9 and 11) stayed for 11 days in interconnecting rooms 105 and 107. The rooms were very good; they were quiet, with effective air conditioning, comfortable beds, spacious and with a mini bar (you have to pay for mineral water in the room). The hotel have lovely gardens with a tennis court and a large semi circular pool, that is unfortunately not well maintained (our daughter cut her foot on a broken tile and we saw a nappy which lurked in the bottom of the pool for 2 days). There is a 5-10 minute walk to a private beach club which serves great food at lunch and dinner and has a small swimming pool, free sun loungers on both grass or a soft sandy beach. The sea has medium sized waves but our daughters could still stand 20 metres from shore on all but the windiest days. It really is a great beach and club. The breakfast at the hotel was also great (delicious fruit, cereal, yoghurt, pastries including donuts and pain au chocolat and an omelette station). The breakfast is taken in the restaurant in a lovely open air, covered room with wonderful views of the gardens and mountains. The dinner is fine dining but we found the menu challenging and only ate there twice. The other days we either dined in the beach club or in other local restaurants which were a 5-10 minute drive away. We particularly enjoyed eating at Nonna Sceppa and several restaurants around the Greek temples. The temples in Paestum are beautiful and well worth a visit. We also took the ferry from Agropoli to Capri which took 75 minutes and was a great day trip (we took the chairlift to the top of the mountain and ate lunch at the Caesar Augustus hotel with views of Vesuvius, Naples and Ischia). We also visited the beach at Palinuro where the sea is calm enough for pedallos and there a 20 minute boat trip to the Blue Grotto. We visited Castellabate a beautiful village which has stunning views and had a great afternoon of fun at Aquafarm. Overall we loved the Cilento, the Savoy and our holiday and would whole heartedly recommend this as a family holiday. A hire car is essential.

Difficult choice between three and four stars. Easiest to sum up positive and negative points. Positive: private beach, recently painted, parking, lift, good breakfast. Fast WiFi. Three course dinner, a choice from two items for each course. Negative: Beds not comfortable, shower is minute, an hours drive from Salerno, next to noisy camp site due to dogs barking. Lack of hot water on third day.

This was a lovely hotel in the foothills of the Cilento National Park just 10 minutes from the main road and the lovely Graeco-Roman ruins of Paestum. There were only a few guests (it was low season) and we were upgraded to nicer rooms with wonderful panoramic views across the Mediterranean to Capri and (with binoculars), Paestum itself. Thankyou! Gabriella the manger gave very helpful advice about things to do and nearby walks (we’d recommend the hike up a local peak Mount Vesole - a 20 minute drive from the hotel and with 365 degree views to the coast and across the peaks of the national park). The on-site restaurant was excellent and the waiters welcoming and friendly, welcoming us with a glass of prosecco and finishing off our meal with a complementary glass of limoncello. Lovely seafood and local wine made from the anglianico grape. Couldn’t have been a better start to our stay around the Amalfi coast region. The only fault we could find was the lack of tea/ coffee facilities in our room.

We’ve just returned from 5 wonderful nights at the Paestum Inn beach resort . After a relatively quick transfer from Naples airport (1hr 30mins) we arrived to a wonderfully warm welcome . It was gone midnight but the lovely Adele at the front desk had laid on a beautiful selection of food and a complimentary welcome glass of Prosecco - Such service! Although the property is only 4* The service was really second to none . Special thanks to Adele at the front desk for checking on us and chatting to us daily. You don’t get this in big hotels! We also received charming and genuine service from Nello in the bar who was just so good at his job and comfortable in his role (thank you for our cheeky pool cocktail !) You could see that he takes pride in his job and did his upmost to make us feel welcome and comfortable at all times. In the restaurant, we relieved excellent service from Francesca and Luca , who between them delivered great service. Our only criticism would be the lighting in the restaurant during the evenings, perhaps it needs to be lowered to make it more intimate and ambient. The room itself was of a high standard , comfy bed with an adequate bathroom . If we needed more towels, we could always request them and there was always the daily clean / turn-down, a lovely touch for a small resort. If we had any room for improvement it would be to have a couple of complimentary bottles of water in the room as the Italian tap water is not safe to drink. We enjoyed our walks on the beach as it was so nearby via a decked walkway . The resort itself is very quiet but that’s what we wanted - peace and quiet . The free bikes were great , a lovely amenity. We checked out very early the morning of our departure and were very touched to receive 2 large breakfast packages to take with us. We had a lovely coffee with the night porter before our transfer left at 6am. Finally a beautiful touch from Adele was a small token of appreciation we received - a branded candle with some sugared almonds inside - so sweet, we were so touched! We have stayed in many resorts around the world , mainly 5* and have never received such thoughtful, genuine service . We hope to return and wish the Paestum Inn a very successful future summer season ! Thank you for making our stay special.

Stayed here sept 2019 .there was 2 or 3 weddings on every day from Thursday when we arrived to the Tuesday when we left . The pool was closed everyday for a few hours when the weddings were taking place. At night there wasn’t much at all to do in the local area so we had to stop by the hotel but felt we shouldn’t be there as it was full of wedding guests .. the bar drinks were quite expensive too so was early to bed every night . We had breakfast and evening meals. The breakfast was mediocre and the 4 course menu at night came up with some weird stuff to say the least we are not fussy eaters but omg some of the stuff served up lol. The hotel was a 35 minute walk from the train station or a rip off 15 euro in a taxi. We got the train every day to various sites like Pompeii Vesuvius Salerno /ferry to amalfi and very easy and cheap to use .TIP..make sure you stamp your train ticket before boarding the train otherwise it’s invalid ! the hotel provided free bike rental so we went to a buffalo farm only a mile away and the paestum ruins . The hotel itself is nice but would not recommend as out the way in a very quiet scruffy village the walls are paper thin and could do with some serious sound proofing the staff friendly and helpful but the catering for weddings didn’t make it acomfortable stay for the holiday makers. We wouldn’t recommend this hotel .
