We upgraded to a villa last minute and were generally happy with this choice. We had a kitchen with a washer and dryer which was really needed to wash clothes from our road trip. Cons of a villa are that they are not located within the hotel area - they are a few blocks from the main hotel. There is a small pool in the villa area, but my kids preferred the "big pool." The hotel does offer golf cart rides to and from the main hotel to the villas, but we drove our car or walk. It's not a long walk, but with young kids and all of their swim gear, it just worked better for us to drive our car. Food and drinks available at the main pool. Great location in Scottsdale. The villas are gated so we felt very safe.

My friends and I stayed here last weekend and we were shocked at how much time we actually ended up spending at the resort. The Scottsdale Plaza Resort had amazing, sprawling pools with poolside drink and food service so you can easily spend the entire day poolside. We also ate at the resort for almost every meal because their restaurants were so delicious and the service was friendly and very good. When we did decide to go explore the city, their bellhops were eager to help us find the best places to go. Charles helped us find a ride to the airport when there were literally no ubers or lyfts that morning. If it weren’t for him, we would’ve missed our flights. The room was super clean and every staff member we encountered was extremely helpful and seemed happy to be there. My friends and I go somewhere different every year but we decided we are coming back to Plaza Resort again next year!

Tub didn’t drain, dated and dirty, uncomfortable beds, pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable, foldaway bed -“Ugg”, felt like straight up springs. No room cleaning service (unless requested), which is crazy, because then they don’t refresh coffee or towels, and then you are in desperate need of maid service. They should inform you of this upon check in!!!! They don’t put water out in the lobby until 10 AM, and then they don’t refresh it when it runs out. On Saturday, you have to wait till 7 AM to get coffee at the breakfast buffet. Staff wasn’t very friendly, except the chef making omelettes. Parking lot full. Breakfast buffet and pool were nice, thus the 2 stars. Definitely not worth the price tag. It was a low rent stay, with a high price tag.

Let me begin by saying the front desk staff is very good and service oriented but there isn’t much I can say that’s good otherwise. When I was dropped off at the hotel entrance, the bellman rudely told me I couldn’t leave my bags there. Umm, I’m just checking in dude. Where am I supposed to put my bags if not at the entrance. I thought the food was pretty good on-site at the hotel restaurant which prompted me to order the same dishes for breakfast and lunch the following day. The day two meals were just not good. For example if I order a side order of bacon I don’t expect it to literally come out cold. Not room temp. Cold! The room was ok but none of the four outlets in my bathroom worked and the fan for heat/AC blows right into you as you lay in bed. The shower features two temps: “too cold for a penguin” or “hot enough to steam mussels”. I felt like Goldilocks as I just couldn’t get it right. If you have kids, there is a pool. Decent size. If you don’t have kids but want to hang out poolside with lots of screaming kids please check out the pool. I don’t mean to sound so negative but I’ve been a Marriott Platinum level rewards guest for many years and this hotel was not up to par. There are better places to stay in the Scottsdale area.

Hot city, more than 40 degrees, this is the first experience in life. . . The hotel conforms to the Hilton style. Basically, the hotel stays at Hilton along the way. The rooms are larger, breakfast options are less, and the environment is good. Not very far from the hotel (less than $10 by taxi, you can go to Little Maggiano for dinner, a chain of Italian restaurants that I have always liked).

We stayed here to be close to the airport for an early morning flight. Not Impressed. We were first put in room 149. It smelled like a skunk the minute we walked in. The light shade over the bed was caked with dust. The headboard was falling apart and had little staples sticking out. The carpet by the jet tub was soaking wet and we had not even used it. After washing my hands I went to wipe up some water that had dripped on the bathroom floor and the the rag was black. We requested a new room which they did move us to. Thank you. While we were waiting to be moved to the other room I read some reviews that that were posted a month ago noting some of the same issues we were experiencing. Hmm. Same issues still a month later. Tells me they were not addressed or fixed. We were moved next door to 147. The room was a little better at least it smelled clean. Though the lamp next to the bed was rusty. The carpet was frayed and there was plastic over the smoke alarm.???? Sorry we won't be coming back.

It's conveniently located from the interstate and Airport it's also about expectations, everyone is under staffed, so I always appreciate the service staff who are working.   I was greeted at the front desk by a young person who was so very positive and that did their best to make sure I got the room I wanted. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. They suggested a local restaurant for a reasonable good tasting take out and it was outstanding. They also have returned to serving a hot breakfast. It was typical fare and was hot and plentiful. They had the usual good stuff where you make your own waffles and have sausage scrambled egg and fresh fruit, juice, muffins, bagels and stuff like that.  I have to say I was very pleased that the attention the staff made to making sure breakfast food was hot plentiful. I always tip the breakfast person and housekeeping, it's an old school way of thinking and I hope you will consider adopting it. They have a nice outdoor area with the fireplace swimming pool and tables and chairs. The rooms were just fine for a overnight stay, or several days.

Sandra, who works at the front desk, helped me with my dilemma. I had an early appointment the next day, which might have run over the normal check out time of 12:00. I explain my situation and just as I was finishing she said “You want to move your check out time? Maybe one?” I was surprised how quickly she handled my problem. Her thoughtfulness did not stop at that one exchange. The next morning I was waiting for the shuttle, which was to arrive at 07:00. She noticed it was 06:50 and the driver was not there. Without me mentioning anything, she called to make sure the driver was on the way. He arrived soon there after. I greatly appreciate her professionalism. Of course, I will stay there again. That stay was my fourth and am always impressed. Sandra was a great help during a stressful time.

We stayed here for 3 nights in mid-January. The hotel was well appointed, and well maintained, both in our room and in the public areas. The outdoor pool was very cold, but the hot tub was just right, and the surrounding deck tempted us to sun bathe. Breakfast was the usual HIE fare. The staff were friendly and helpful, laying up our stock of dry ice in their freezer when we discovered that the frig in our room did not have a freezer. The one curious feature here was the absence of a microwave in our room. This was a first in more than 500 HIE stays! It forced us to take our dinner plates downstairs to warm in the communal microwave adjoining the check-in counter. This was mystifying because it was transparently obvious that there had been a microwave in our room, and that it had been removed. Forcing guests to use a communal microwave during the midst of a pandemic is an incredibly bad idea; I implore the General Manager to address this issue at once.

I’ve never left a review for a hotel, but I was so incredibly impressed with Caitlin at the front desk that I had to take the time to do so this time. Just through casual conversation we hit it off and she was always very pleasant and helpful when I’d see her occasionally during my 5 night stay. What really stood out however, was after a conversation we had during my last day about my love for Pokémon (don’t you judge me), she went through the insane trouble of sending a few beers to my room with a hand-written letter thanking me for staying at the hotel, accompanied with a Pokémon-related joke and cut-out of a Pikachu...I’ve never been so pleasantly caught off guard lol. I was so stunned I had to call my mom because I didn’t know what to do. I understand the concept of going above and beyond, but going above and beyond using knowledge coming from actually listening and giving a damn about your guests is on another level in its entirety. So hats off to Caitlin. I haven’t smiled that big in a really long time. And hats off to the hotel management team for having her as part of the team.

I’ve been staying here while here for business for the past month or so. And I must say, after driving and traveling 1.86 million miles record on my vehicles transport cars for my own business and staying and numerous extended stays, this is top notch! Alvina checked me in SEEMLESSLY and extremely customer service oriented and also gave me great insight to the happenings in the area for leisure and restaurants (and prices). She was very kind with my dog and now my dog was upset he had to leave her. When I entered the room, it surpassed my expectations from other extended stays I’ve stayed at prior across the country. Well done! This is one of the best experience I’ve had at ANY hotel!

This hotel and service are always stellar. The conference that we choose to have here every year is a perfect place. It's a quick ride to the airport and the local golf is wonderful. Rooms have everything you need and are always in mint condition. I sleep great here and am ready for each day. The only "negative" is that the breakfast is not quite the same since prior to COVID - miss those homemade omelets! However, it's still great and if you can leave the table satisfied, there is something wrong.

I’ve stayed at Talking Stick only three times in my life and the experience has been the same. Each visit has has about 5 years in between because I write them off and then give them another chance, never again. This time we stayed as part of my wife’s 40th birthday. From the moment we checked in the staff was rude. We arrived about 45 minutes before standard check in time after being told over the phone that there were plenty of rooms available for early check in. The front desk person said no rooms were open and they would text us when something came free. I mentioned that we had a reservation at 4pm (standard check in time) and we need to set down our bags. The employee told us twice that check in time was 4pm and they aren’t responsible for our plans. A courteous employee would express compassion and offer to help in this situation, especially at a hotel that is charging $400/night. I find it hard to believe that a massive hotel with over 1,000 rooms had zero availability at 3:15pm but that they would miraculously have everything prepared just 45 minutes later. While we waited, they suggested we spend time in their casino (implying we should spend more money). I’ve been to hotels before without room availability prior to normal check-in time. Often they will offer the guests a drink or some other accommodation. I would also expect some level of sincerity and appreciation for the guests. None of that took place at talking stick. The two previous times I stayed at this hotel I had similar bad experiences, and I thought they could get better. This third and final time has proven to me that their customer service will never get better and I should never go back to this hotel or casino. They offer no discounts or refunds, and therefore we were stuck staying at this hotel. The rest of the stay was similar. We experienced rude service from bartenders, table workers, concierge, and management. Even the check out email we received only shows the final total and a statement that says any unpaid charges will be added to the credit card at a later time. There was no mention of “thank you” or “we hope you enjoyed your stay.” This hotel certainly does not care for, or appreciate its guests.

Pros: Location, location, location close to Scottsdale Stadium and Old Town Wonderful friendly staff Cleanliness in the common areas and rooms Nice pool and jacuzzi area Well maintained landscape Large suites Cons: Rooms are dated Bathrooms are extremely small and because of the placement of the toilet paper roll, the bathroom door can’t be fully opened, I wish it opened out instead of in Living area is large but the couch/sleeper is old and very low to the ground The refrigerator had a large amount of ice on the upper section The floors are so thin we heard the people staying above us stomping their feet every day at 7 am and 10 pm for 15-20 minutes straight, it was very annoying tip- book a top floor if you stay here The air unit located in bedroom does not circulate air to the living area but there is a fan. Unfortunately we were either too cold or too hot in the bedroom, no in between The bed has a top sheet and a duvet made from sheets, our thin comforter kept coming out of the sheet duvet leaving us covered with mostly just sheets. Because we didn’t have housekeeping services, we had to fix the thin comforter in the sheet duvet cover every morning. The mattresses are also old and not comfortable. We stayed for 4 nights and didn’t’ sleep well any of the nights. They no longer have the happy hour/manager’s reception. The free breakfast did not have many options if you don’t eat meat. They ran out of cinnamon rolls for the day before 7:30 am and were also out of English muffins. We stayed at this hotel 8 years ago and loved it, sadly we didn’t feel the same way this time. I hope it will be upgraded soon.

This hotel is in a very good location, central to everything in Scottsdale. It could be a very nice hotel if they just cleaned it up a bit. But unfortunately they have let it go and its starting to get a bit shabby. The carpets in the hallways are trashed, stained and dirty. The carpets in my room had stains and smelled like sweat and dirty feet. Otherwise the room was clean. The mattress on the king size bed was sloping to one side and had a large "crater" where too many people have slept, it is time to replace that bed for sure. The room has an upgraded modern look. One downside, there is no ventilation fan in the bathroom and the wall between the bathroom and the room is paper thin, you can here everything if someone is using the bathroom. Ask for a room away from the pool area otherwise you can hear all the noise from the pool until 10:30 at night. Staff was friendly. They were taking all the covid precautions. The hotel really doesn't offer anything other than a room and the pool. No restaurants or bar or any other amenities. I only have one real complaint and that is they don't tell you that you will be charged for parking. Even though they do not have valet, a garage or security parking. They just have a regular outside parking lot. I think it's a scam to not tell guest upon check in about that extra fee. Its $7 a day that is added after you check out. They say it's in the "fine print" on their site, but it still seems like a rip-off to me.

Went there after husband and I decided to extend our tour of Arizona. When I got there to check in, the young lady at the front desk seemed a little out of it. She took my credit card and ID, made copies, and then proceeds to tell me to sign and except. The person she pulled up was not me, but she told me to sign it anyway. I refused. Then she said she'd fix it on her end and gave me the keycard. The room was stuffy, sketchy, and poorly maintained. We didn't want to stay but it was only one night. It has a motel kind of feel to it. People were standing outside our door talking. There was water damage in the bathroom, the faucets were loose, and the water barely drains. The place is grimy! The next morning, the room service was banging on our door screaming "you need to go to the front desk, you did not pay". I thought it was strange, maybe they had the wrong door, but that was rude! Then 10 minutes later, another barrage of banging! This time my husband answers and I heard a lady screeching about payment and her company calling her. When we finally arrive to checkout, this lady had a completely disgusting attitude. I did not know she was the lady banging on the door. But she should thank my husband for not telling me! There was no problem with my payment, but I will be keeping a very close eye on my statements! DO NOT GO HERE! I saw an 8.4 rating for them somewhere, but it is a lie!

We had a 2-bedroom at Scottsdale Links Resort. It used to be apartments at some point, so the rooms and closets were good size. Has a large family pool and a smaller adult pool with hot tub, kids play areas. Also a fitness center but we didn't visit it. Unfortunately, our balcony overlooked a busy street, but there are plenty of buildings/rooms that were not directly on the street. You definitely need to have a car. It is about a 7-minute drive to a large mall area, but not able to walk there. Staff were excellent. We found quite a few places to visit in 20-45 minute drives.

This is my 3rd stay at this hotel and 1st since Covid. My other stays pre-Covid were as expected from a Hampton Inn. However, this time, 2 years into Covid, it is still an excuse for not providing housekeeping services. Upon arrival I was given a letter saying that because of Covid housekeeping would not be provided at all except upon special request by 9am. The first 2 days I did not request housekeeping. The 3rd day at 8:30 am I requested housekeeping and extra towels. When I got back at 10:00pm, my room was how I left it. I called down to reception and was told that even though I had requested it on time it wasn’t done because it was a “turn over” day (I believe every day is a “turn over” day) they did not have enough time to do my room or leave towels but I could come down and get some towels. What is ludicrous is that Arizona has basically no Covid requirements, mandates or rules about Covid yet the hotel uses it as an excuse for no or limited service. In addition, this Hampton hotel’s prices do not reflect the lack of housekeeping service. I am paying $350 per night for an 8 night stay…at a Hampton! Housekeeping is very important to me as I am coming back after 12 hours and I want to come back to a freshly made-up room. This is a terrible policy and in addition, if the burden of getting housekeeping is to “opt in” each day, there shouldn’t be any excuse to not provide the service no matter how many rooms need cleaning.
