This hotel is historic and grand, I highly recommend it. Was once the Harbor Master's house for the port of Leith and it truly holds all of the charm of a historic building, but with many cool upgrades! The area is really charming, just off the water and a fairly quick bus ride to all the downtown sites. Every single member of the staff from the restaurant, to housekeeping to the front desk really went out of their way to be kind, helpful and attentive. This was a trip of a lifetime for me and they truly made my visit to Edinburgh all the more. I highly recommend The Malmaison. Thank you so very much for an excellent stay.

Where to start? No one to greet us, despite email stating our arrival time. We had to ring a number on the front door to be let in and was told to find an envelope with our key in it. The bedroom was very outdated. The decorative cushions on the bed looked as though they'd never been washed. I moved them off the bed straight away to find some stray black hairs underneath, which I also found on the bathroom floor and under the handwash on the sink, along with cobwebs, a daddy long legs and 3 spiders around the room (1 of which I rescued from the shower). The bedding was ripped all over. I initially saw my side and told my partner, who then confirmed it was the same throughout the stitching, exposing the duvet underneath. I thankfully took my own towels, so I slept on one of them as I didn't trust the pillows. The bed itself was quite hard and every time one of use moved, it moved on the floor a bit and squeaked which meant we barely got much sleep. With lighter nights, I drew the curtains before trying to sleep, and the metal tie back holder smashed to the floor, narrowly missing my foot. Not to mention the amount of dust actually on the curtains. The bottom of one side was even higher than the other and one side was frayed which looked awful. My partner opened the bedside drawer and the handle came out before any of the drawer did (pictured). I made drinks in very old, tiny mugs supplied, but the positioning of the tea/coffee station meant hunching over to complete the task as it was so low down. As I located the bin to throw away the teabag, the bin was broken, meaning having to touch the bin lid with my hand to open it, which wasn't nice as the room wasn't fully clean. The remote looked to have never been cleaned and was full of grime. The door to the room was very loud and needed a good oiling and the door to the bathroom required a key to keep others from using it, as it's external to the bedroom, across the hall. (That wasn't the issue). The issue was that in order to fill the kettle, we had to go across the hall, put the kettle on the floor, rattle around with the key for a while (door was hard to unlock) and then put the kettle back on the floor to then lock the door back up, before heading back to your room. A lot of faffing. In the morning, after my shower, I found the hairdryer and tried to plug it in on one side of the bed as it was near the mirror (on the back of the door), but the plugs were for shavers only. The only plug socket I could use was over the other side of the room, so I couldn't use the mirror to get ready. Overall, I did a couple of positives. One was that the bathroom was very sleek and modern and the second was the parking as there was plenty of space outside but that is all I can really praise. It seems as though someone is needed specifically to clean. When trying to serve breakfast, clean rooms and do too many other things at once, it is noticable and things will get missed. There are small things that can

The rooms are large and feature Scottish features. One kilometer from the Weavery Railway Station, about 20 minutes walk, the location is better. The air conditioner is not very cool, a little noise. In the Edinburgh Cultural Festival, the student residence near the Royal Mile was over 900 RMB a night, very poor. Later, I changed this house decisively, RMB 1150, excluding early. This price is ok in the peak season.

Hotel was well located and very clean inside. Rooms made up daily. Breakfast was ok. Odd smell in bathroom - think the drains are not right. Main issues - bathroom extractor fan continuously on -annoying. The doors to other rooms slam noisily and some awful motor/generator out back of hotel also causing constant noise. Hot rooms; window only opens a crack. Overpriced for what is essentially a marginally polished premier inn.

We stopped here for the night as had an earlyish flight out of Edinburgh the following morning. The rooms are quite dated, but ours was very cosy and comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening meal sitting in the bar, which was full of locals enjoying a drink or a meal, many of them with their dogs. (We're dog people so that made us very happy!) The food was good and the service friendly. Breakfast was plentiful and good value at 8.95 each. Would definitely stay again next time we're flying in late or flying out early.

Very friendly staff! The front staff who welcomed us on the day we checked in was extremely friendly and helpful, as was another staff who helped us in the evening to change to another room (the original room had a connecting door to the room next door where some people were having a rather lively party). At present, breakfast is brought to the room (see picture) and guests can select what they would like to have the day before. What we didn't enjoy too much while staying was that the hotel itself felt more like an office building and the room, although clean (apart from the cutlery in the kitchen), was not very cozy and quite cold. We would also like to suggest to allow guests to use the fire stairs as there is only one elevator. We had to wait quite a bit each time we needed to take the elevator (especially during covid times when only one household a time can use it). There's a rather big construction site next door so people who hope to sleep till late might want to ask for a room thats facing the other side.

Scenery: It's great, better than Waldorf. The decoration in England is very good. Remember to choose the castle room. Facilities: Slightly old, facilities are slightly aging, but the overall is relatively clean, does not affect the experience of staying. Location: Opposite the Ferris wheel, the location must be good. Breakfast: bought at checkin, 11 pounds per person. On the whole, I am very satisfied. I will stay there next time, because of the scenery. When I ate breakfast, I found that there were very few young people, and it was all British old men and women eating.

Aesthetically the hotel was a 5/5 if you overlook some of the minor building repairs that potentially are needed. As an older building you can understand this though. Major gripe was the missing shower door which made shower time messy time. Also meaning we had to use our towels to mop up the floor which leads us onto service. Mopping up would not have been an issue if replacement towels were provided considering we had placed them in the shower as indicated on the notice. So moaning over, the room was nice, good tea and biscuits - nice touch. The bed was annoyingly two singles pushed together leaving a crack in the middle. And don’t even start me on the blind that didn’t keep any light out. We now know Edinburgh is lovely at 5am thanks to that wake up. Bar and restaurant was brilliant and the decor was very eye pleasing. Would we visit again, hmmmm, quite possibly BUT those little touches would make the venue so much better. Eh up, there is also table tennis advertised, we didn’t find it, perhaps it’s a magical table and we didn’t have the spell?

I took my parents to the hostel for the first time, hahahahahaha but I feel pretty good ~ Just for the next day to stay with the group, the stay is very short, but the room is fully furnished, booked separate triple and double rooms, triple It is a bunk bed, separate toilet ~ very clean, very clean and very clean! Important things to say three times! Even better is a kettle. At night, there are young ladies and sisters walking in the corridors and drinking very high. This is the case for youth hostels, but they sleep well at night, not particularly noisy. The room is small hhh basically three people walking around are particularly nervous ... but this price is OK!

The check-in was very comfortable and the service was very good. The suitcase code of the day was forgotten. The younger brother at the front desk patiently ran two times and tried to help us open! The hotel is very beautiful and has an English manor! But to get used to the inconvenience caused by old-fashioned objects, the faucet of the washstand is separated from cold water and hot water, which is a little inconvenient. Free bed for us, breakfast is more traditional English, but very nutritious! Afternoon tea can also be experienced!

How should I put it, I found that it was a three-star hotel with a three-star price, but I lived in a five-star experience after entering the door... The front desk of the hotel is very friendly, and the room in the corner of the corridor is arranged, which is clean, and the room is beautifully decorated and stylish. The beds, wardrobes and workbenches are all made of wood and have a bit of an old taste, which is very similar to Edinburgh. This is not my dream room! You can see the street view and the castle at the same time, and the bathroom is huge, which is bigger than expected. Snacks and drinks in the room are free to eat. Unfortunately, because the room was only booked for one night, I moved to another hotel next door the next day. Originally just wanted to experience it, but my friends and I miss this room all the time. The hotel's breakfast is also good, and it will be cheaper to book a room that includes breakfast directly. There is also a special small room for luggage storage in the hotel, which is very reassuring! Great start to the trip! To write a small composition praise!

The Hilton brand is going downhill, and has lived in countless Hiltons from home and abroad. Every time you come to the United Kingdom, there is always a city that will arrange to stay in Hilton. Each time it ends in disappointment. 1, location, directly opposite the Scotsman Hotel, the spiral staircase next to the Scotsman Hotel can lead to the train station. If there is a large luggage, it is recommended to go out at Plantform Exit 1, there are lifts and escalators, and exit to the right Walk and turn right again for two hundred meters. A 10-minute walk from Royal mile, Edinburgh Castle, and Whisky Experience Center, these three are together! About 12 minutes walk from Calton Hill, which is different from the three attractions above 2. The housekeeping was just rubbish. On the first day of arrival, there was no mineral water in our two rooms, and the two rooms were not the same size. The one we lived in was very small. Shower gels and shampoos have obviously been used, but they have not been replaced! !! !! 3. The hotel design has serious problems. Please arrange a room for -3. We must first take the stairs to the second floor, then cross the other two third-level stairs, and then take the elevator down to -3. Rao's head is dizzy and the box Not easy to mention ~

Hotel just fine! However, 24 hours after I made payment on the first day of booking another hotel on Ctrip, Ctrip sent an email to inform the hotel that this room type was full. When I booked again on the same day, I found that the hotel can still book the same room type but the price has increased by 20%. After paying again , Ctrip still notified 24 hours that the room type is full. On the third day, continue to pay attention to the room type and still be able to book. Ctrip knows that the hotel of this room type is out of room. I wonder how much liquidity they can get every day this way? I really doubt that I have chosen a financial company to book the hotel!

The University of Edinburgh student apartment is in the old town, very safe and quiet. It looks like a newly renovated building. The exhaust fan in the bathroom didn't know how to turn it off, and the sound was loud, so I had to pull out the card while I was sleeping. The most inconvenient is that there is no elevator, it is terrible to carry a large box on the fifth floor. . Although the room is small, there is a small kettle, which is satisfactory.

The staff was great however the hotel is not great if you are use to hotels in the states. Floors felt like I could fall through and the tub/shower combo is about a foot and a half off thr ground and slick. I almost fell twice getting out! There is no ac and the room are stuffy and hot. The wifi is spotty at best. I know hotels in the uk are older and most do not have ac but this one needs some work. A highlight is that they have a filtered water station for you to fill up your water bottles. So water, location and staff is the pluses for this location. Floors, shower and bed are awful.

This hotel is so good, why is the rating so low? The hotel has more than 200 years of history, although there is no elevator, but the equipment in the room is very advanced, the toiletries are all L'Occitane, especially mentioning that the bedside table has a radio that has been placed in the light classic is very soothing, lying down without having to watch TV like this The music is very comfortable. Breakfast bread milk fruit is self-help, other such as bacon sausage eggs can be cooked, especially Amway fried poached eggs super delicious. In the UK, if you go out to eat breakfast or lunch, you will have more than 100 pieces. The price is very high, and the price will be high. I will stay here next time~

This hotel really likes it, and the decoration style of the room is very elegant, including the reception and the environment at the front desk, which are very in line with Edinburgh's elegant British temperament. Because the first night in Edinburgh was too tired to go out to eat at the restaurant, I ate at the restaurant on the first floor of the hotel. For hungry people, the taste is not bad and the desserts are brilliant. The rooms are very clean, and the important thing is that they are quiet at night, which is the best for those who are sensitive to sleep. If you come to Edinburgh in the future, this hotel is definitely the first choice.

I booked this hotel to go to the tattoo I knew it was a no frills budget hotel but was not expecting how small the rooms were probably ok if travelling alone or maybe a one night stay, we stayed 3 night and were glad to leave the hotel, we were told that all rooms in this hotel are approximately 8x8 square basically a box room with a bed and a toilet and shower cubicle and nothing else no chairs no where to put things there is a tv in the room. But we did not use this the up side though is the location which is fantastic and close to everything, the staff know the problems and were exceptional in helping and understanding our needs, I can not fault their efforts and the rooms even thought a little ruff around the edges were very clean We did have a few issues with maintenance of our room the bathroom (if you can call it that) handle kept falling off and there was a piece of tape holding the skirting on Even as a budget hotel there should be certain standards followed

I had the separate house in the back and it was lovely, with a garden room downstairs. I picked the location so I could walk to Craigmillar Castle ruins. It was further than I thought, but worth it. The Park is lovely, and the B&B was very clean and nicely appointed. I would definitely return. Only think with all these lovely old B&B's, to consider is stairs, and you might be on your own with the luggage.

The hotel is newly renovated and the facilities are relatively new. Good location, easy to walk to city. The bedding was comfortable, but the double bed was a bit small. The little brother at the door greeted him in a Scottish skirt with special enthusiasm. I almost forgot something when I checked out today. Fortunately, they reminded me to help me find the bag, but I didn't lose it. Breakfast is just a regular English breakfast, nothing special.

Best bathroom in a hostel I’ve ever seen. Extremely clean with an adult respectful crowd so you can actually sleep.
