3 rooms booked. Lovely clean hotel in central location. Bedrooms spotless, beds and pillows very comfortable. Shower powerful. Nice lounge area to meet up with friends. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Drew shortstraw in room with 3 of us (101). No safety deposit box, could only get radio on TV, heating blew cold air (thought it was just us not using it properly till end of holiday), no slippers. We felt the breakfast was a bit expensive at €14.50. Only hot items were scrambled egg and bacon but very varied other items which were lovely. We wanted a cocktail from the bar but closed Sunday and not available Monday. The 7 of us had one Tuesday, took ages for all of us to get it, some were ok and others not. Need more staff in this area. Having said all the above, we would certainly recommend this hotel to others and return ourselves.

Dayane was on reception when we arrived. She spoke excellent English, made us very welcome and as we hadn't visited Girona before took time to draw on a map where we were, the location of key visitors site and names and locations of restaurants she recommended. As it was a Saturday and we needed to book a restaurant she booked it for us and she and her colleagues booked restaurants for us subsequently. We had booked a superior room which overlooked the garden and was in essence 3 rooms - bathroom, bedroom and seating area (see photos). Very comfortable. Excellent bed and pillows and spacious bathroom with plenty of room for wash bags etc. Lovely cotton robes too. The lighting in hotel bathrooms is often 'mood lighting' which is completely useless for men wanting to shave or women applying make up. Fortunately this wasn't the case here and as well as excellent lighting there was a magnifying, extendable shaving mirror. Thoughtful touches like that make all the difference. The breakfast was excellent - a good buffet and the freshly squeezed orange juice delicious. They squeeze it to order so wait for the waitress to appear. Tea and coffee facilities in the room so saved taking my travel kettle. The hotel had some amazing scuptures and ceramics by local artists on display. We will return. Travel from Girona is easy (we flew in and out of Barcelona) so it would be a perfect place to stay to explore the area.

We were at the Ultonia, two nights, before and after the country was shut down due to the Corona virus. There is pay fting parking underground with direct access to the hotel. Rooms looked recently renovated, comfortable, with safety deposit box and nice bathroom with large shower, bidet and free toiletries. Our room had a window with view of an inviting outside terrace. Would be great during warmer weather and different circumstances. We took the buffet breakfast both mornings. It was excellent. Very complete with everything that you could desire. Eggs, cold cuts, fresh fruits, yogurts, croissants, breads, excellent coffee and tea. The staff could not have been any friendlier and accommodating. The location of the hotel is perfect. Walking distance to all important sights. Definitely recommended.

A group of 8 of us went to Girona to cycle for the weekend and stayed at the Peninsular It was a fantastic choice with very secure bike storage facilities. The hotel was comfortable and clean with friendly staff that arranged airport transfers for us and bikes with no hassle and marvellous efficiency Location was perfect with good access out of the city in all directions to ride and also a walk of no more than 10 minutes to a plethora of wonderful restaurants. there is also a very good bike shop just round the corner It is not a five star hotel but does not claim to be and for the price paid it was excellent value for money and ideal for all our needs

The best thing about the place is the location. It is literally about a 20 second walk from the basilica. And the old town part of Girona, though extensive, is not very big so you can walk it all easily from here. The staff and check in was all efficient and professional. We never had a single issue in our one night stay. The front desk called us a cab upon request at check out and our wait was probably 2 minutes. They also were prepared with a map and suggestions and things upon check in. The style of the place, including the room, is sort of museum chic or something. It’s cool and different. It’s very clean. The room was kind of small but if you’re just using it for sleep it’s more than adequate. The bathroom was actually surprisingly large and very pretty, though I have a particular dislike for the stylish showers that don’t have doors, as this one does. The shower would be my biggest complaint. I also thought the breakfast was pricey at 12 euro a person, but I have nothing to compare it to in Girona so maybe it was a good deal. Reviews say it is worth it and the foods are of the region so it was recommended. And it was good and there was more to it than the usual European hotel breakfast so I’m not too sore about that. Other than that it was a comfy stay, quiet, and I would definitely stay here again.

It is a truly 1 to 2 stars Hotel. Has a basic, functioning and confortable room with all the basics like TV, AC, hair dryer..... I've been in Hotels that they were 3 stars and they were not as good as this one. If I have to come up with something to improve it would be insulate the walls better between the rooms cause you can hear the people talking. Also the Hotel is located near everything, restaurants, cafes, close to major turistic sites as las ramblas, the cathedral etc... I would recomend it for sure!!

Location was ok, 10 minute walk to old town and city wall. Restaurants close by. Lobby and rooms were clean, a major plus. Breakfast was very adequate. Staff was helpful and polite. The room was not large but adequate with a decent bathroom and goo water pressure in shower. The two negatives would be that it was very noisy from inconsiderate “other” guests till early morning hours( mostly by children, where were parents and staff ?????). The other negative would be the “tiny horrible beds!” These beds are youth size, not even twins. The one bed had springs or something poking up very uncomfortably in middle forcing you to sleep on about 4 inches on the side. But both beds were very uncomfortable and we are not terribly picky.

We travelled as a group of 10 for a cycling holiday with Jet2. The hotel was perfect for us centre of Girona, big bike garage, excellent breakfast selection, comfortable rooms and really helpful staff. So, for the first two days we had the perfect cycling holiday. On Saturday 14/03/2020 Girona went in lockdown due to the COVID-19 crisis. From this point the hotel completely excelled themselves. We were unable to leave the hotel without a reason and there is only so many times you can go to the supermarket (all that was open). The hotel made available for us a conference room with an internet TV so we could run online yoga classes and watch NetFlix. They also kept a cafe bar open for (excellent) food and drinks (at very reasonable prices too) and the service from the staff was superb especially under the very stressful circumstances. As soon as the COVID-19 situation passes I will be re-booking Hotel Carlemany to show my support and say thanks for the way they looked after me and my group. I also want to cycle the bits of the Girona region I missed out on due to the lockdown as it really is stunning.

We were looking for a hotel with parking and within walking distance to the old city in Girona. Palau Bellavista was perfect. It is approximately 450m from the old town. Walking to the town is pleasant 10 mins stroll. But the walk back to the hotel requires walking upslope and heaving yourself up staircases. A taxi will do the lifting for you for approximately €10. The restaurant at the hotel serves superlative food. The room service pizza was pretty good too. The staff from the restaurant / bar and check in were truly hospitable, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this hotel.

Our flights to the US were cancelled by the ongoing Covid19 situation. That said as a last minute plan, we arranged a three week holiday across France and Spain. As Diamond HHonors members, we try to always book Hiltons where ever we travel. Unfortunately there are not that many in France and Spain, but this hotel at Girona allowed us to have a break in our long trip for two nights. We parked on the street as we checked in. The hotel does have parking, which is accessed by driving in a large circle to get to the rear of the hotel. It is an underground one, and was pretty tight for our large car, but fortunately had spaces each day. Check in was friendly and quick, our temperatures were scanned and all was good. The room we choice was a one bed King suite. It was a great space for our family. Our young children on the sofa bed in one room, and myself and my Wife in the other. With two TV's for a Spanish speaking family, it would be great. There was no English TV, which is fine, we were in Spain after all. Right now there's a bit of a heat wave across Europe, and the rooms were warm on arrival. We turned on the AC in both rooms. After a couple of hours it became evident that the sofa bed room was much cooler than the king bed side. We called down, and asked if an engineer could be sent to check out the AC. I was told that it wasn't a problem, it could be fixed from downstairs. Within an hour or so, the AC began to cool. Evidently something was switched off remotely. By the following morning the rooms were cool, and we left the AC on as went out on travels. It was incredibly hot in Girona and walking around the old town, we couldn't wait to get back to the hotel to cool off. We returned expecting the rooms to be cool. The rooms had been cleaned, but both sets of curtains had been left open, and it was incredibly hot. Both ACs were blowing warm air. A window had been left open, and there was a fly buzzing around the room. Again we had to call reception to ask them to turn the AC back on. We fully understand that hotels want to save money, but at the expense of customer comfort, it's not really a great policy. We live in cooler climes, but we have AC in our home. On low settings, they use so little electricity. The biggest draw on current is when you've had it off, and it has to fight against a warm room. So this spoiled things a little for us. We appreciate that we're in Spain, it's hot, it's the summer, but when you expect to get back to a cool room, and it's hot... it's really not good enough. That said, I'm still scoring it a high four because everything else was right. Breakfasts were prepacked sandwiches on a tray each morning, with a bread roll, croissant, jams, honey, etc. With Covid19 it is understandable to avoid breakfast buffets, although there was still elements of help yourself. Ultimately the space we had offset the AC niggles. There was a great supermarket next door. It was large, & reasonably p

The hotel is modern, clean and has nice staff. We chose it because of those features for our week long holiday in Girona. The rooms are lovely with big beds and large bathrooms. It has a nice bar where you can get drinks from. I would also recommend the restaurant to eat dinner in. The problem is that we didnt get a good nights sleep over the 7 nights we stayed. It is incredibly noisy and we could hear every movement from upstairs. We woke up 3-4 times a night because of the noise in the hotel. Every morning we were woken early by what sounded like furniture being moved around upstairs. People also seemed to come to the pool regardless of whether they were staying in the hotel or not. A large family came and blasted music while eating McDonalds around the pool while we were outside which was quite annoying! I would perhaps recommend this hotel for one or two nights sleep (with earplugs!) but would not stay here again for a week long trip.
