We loved this hotel. We were on a bike tour that included this hotel. It isn't near the center of town, but the bus stop is right across the street, and you can soon be downtown. The accommodation was above averge; we had a balcony, and a reasonably sized room. Our bicycles were stored in the basement, and the staff washed our bicycle clothing each night for the next day. The best part of our stay was the nutrition-oriented breakfasts (buffet style), attended to meticulously by the owner, his family and staff (eggs & coffee to order). The hotel made us a lunch to take on the bike ride that included home-made nutritious bars that they promised they would post the recipe for on their website. When we returned from our bike ride each day, they provided us a post-bike lunch at around 2pm which was quite a spread to cover us until dinnertime. They front desk was very helpful in arranging transportation (when needed) and provided counseling about local information. Their customer service was exceptional. Highly recommend.

I have stayed in this hotel a couple of times over the years and it is always the same. It is a very traditional hotel. Pine furniture, blankets and sheets, paintings and pictures on the walls. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The breakfast is nice, a choice of cereals, croissants and you can ask for cheese and ham. They make coffee fresh and the kids love a hot chocolate at breakfast. Showers are hot but it does take a little while for the hot water to come. Free Wi-fi and parking. We stayed in the family room 1 double and 2 singles and space for an extra if required. Always clean. Only problem is the train track are next to the hotel but they don’t seem to run over night. I would stay again when in the area. We are a family of 5 and my child are always happy to come.

Seldom do you get the location, quality and service from a mid range priced hotel but this falls very close to achieving all 3. Service and attention given by all the staff is something that some of the big hotels need to grasp and learn from Not a huge hotel but great location, private car park, access to shops, bars & restaurant’s within 150m Access to car routes in and out of the city quite good Rooms spot on very clean, comfy bed and good shower and well topped mini bar. Small but adequate bar with a good range Breakfast fine Small relaxing side rooms very good Well worth the money Here on Business but would have no hesitation in booking holiday trip and spending a week or 2 there.

We have stayed in this small hotel for many years now, the rooms are clean and functional, the staff very helpful and kind. The hotel is centrally situated a few minutes from the shopping areas and many restaurants and bars with its own private parking. The breakfasts are good and the lady serving/helping in the breakfast room, which is in the basement, is an absolute gem, charming and very helpful.

The historic villa has a fabulous collection of porcelin and other art work. Wedding reception was held out back and under the eaves/entrance and was incredibily beautiful. The hotel attached was mediocre at best - it was akin to an older Holiday Inn.

The business day in Milan is going to be the next day, but the Milan hotel is very expensive recently. It is not worth it. If you are driving by car, it is better to choose a small night here. At the top of the hill, the old building in 1913 has a sense of history. Although the city is 2 km away, the hotel has a regular shuttle bus to and from the hotel. The fly in the ointment is that the single room shower can't be opened.

saw five hotels this summer and this was by far my favorite. The moment i arrived and was greeted by the owner Paolo and heard sweet jazz tunes playing in the background i knew i was gonna like this place. Do not expect a perfectly managed and groomed place,it's got more of an old world family run charm. Room was large and had that same old world charm, like time stood still. But things like the new bathroom and aircon give you all the modernity you need. The only one who speaks English is Paolo, his staff and lovely mother do not. Again something i personally liked. His mother explained our options for dinner in Italian and we managed to get everything sorted perfectly. favorite moment was sitting in the garden with a cold drink and Paolo picking Courgette flowers from his garden en frying them for us[best thing i ate all summer] Very much recommended if you like old world Italian charm ,we arrived here coming from a 5 star Hilton in Rome, and it felt like a breath of fresh air. I will certainly try to return for a few days.

This hotel is very nice. there's parking area under the hotel so you don't have to mess with street parking. This is not a fancy hotel, more of a common hotel, with regular rooms, yet the service is excellent, it is very clean and the breakfast is very good. we picked this hotel in order to travel the lakes in north Italy and swiss (Lugano/Lucarno). for that purpose it was excellent. The price was ridiculously low. We have heard that next year (I guess around 2020) they will make renovation in that hotel. I believe it will be even more attractive for travelers like us. down the road (very close) there are several restaurants where you can eat. coffee shop, Italian restaurant and 1 more for stakes, burgers and Italian food. Again, I want to emphasize the crew service, it was excellent. My header is "Best bargain in a long time" means that although that it is an ordinary hotel, the service, the breakfast, the room, were very good with a very cheap price. Thank you hotel Verbano, If we will come back to north Italy we will probabely will use the same hotel.

Me and my boyfriend stayed for 4 nights at Horizon Wellness and Spa. We were really satisfied with the room, which was spacious, very modern, with a balcony(the balcony was not very clean, but thats probably because it was winter) and a nice bathroom. It was nice that there was instant coffee and tea there, but there were no real cups, only plastic ones(impossible to make a tea or coffee since the plastic cup would melt). Breakfast was OK, not a big variety of food,10 € per person. There was unfortunatley no street mirror on the road exit, making it hard to see the cars coming and this way dangerous. We loved the staff, absolutely friendly and helpful. They even gave me a iron so that I wouldnt have to pay for the ironing service. A bit dissapointed that the use of spa and pool was not included in the price,we did not have that at any other hotel. We really enjoyed our stay there 😊

My wife and I enjoyed an incredible treat at Al Borducan located the top of Sacra Monte overlooking an amazing view of Lake Varese. The serve Fancy foods with delicious flavors and drinks that blended well with each portion. The evening was set from the moment we arrived. The staff was well dressed and super attentive to us throughout the entire meal. The food comes in gradual portions with a fantastic crescendo between the main meal and dessert. It was almost too much deliciousness. Just a side note guys, if you're going to wine and dine your lady at a place like this be ready for the committment. It's a bit pricey but worth it if you're looking for a fantastic romantic evening!

We stayed at Vecchia Riva 4 nights with teenager kids in two connected rooms. Hotel located near lake and we had fabulous lake view. Rooms big, nice decorated and modern. Big shower in the bathrooms. Hotel guests can go free of charge to public swimming pool and for small fee to fitness located nearby. Hotel staff all very nice and helpful. Breakfast adequate. Is was a lot of mosquito , but we were provided with special electronic device to move them out . We didn't have a dinner at hotel restaurant, but it is very busy in the evenings, which is good sign. Varese nice town and Sacro Monte Di Varese must be visited . We definitely will come back to this hotel for the long stay in the future .

The location is beautiful, high up the mountain in a very 'hilly' area with lovely scenery, overlooking a valley on the outskirts of the village of Santa Maria del Monte, a medieval UNESCO world heritage site. This small 10 bedroom hotel is right next door to the old funicular railway too. Our bedroom (No. 3) was lovely, comfortable, quaint and elegantly rustic with fabulous views from one of the best balconies I have ever had. We were half board and the evening meals were excellent (be aware if you book half board that the restaurant closes on Sunday evening and all day on Monday. We were lucky that the restaurant was unusually booked for a private party on the Sunday night that we stayed and the chef kindly agreed that we too could dine there that night, albeit with no menu choice which didn't matter...it was yet another really good dining experience). The chef's tasting menu which we enjoyed on one evening was very good indeed. Breakfast was basic but perfectly good offering breads, cold meats, cheeses (most days), hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and yoghurts. Service in restaurant and hotel throughout our stay was very good and very friendly. I would dispute some of the description in the introduction at top of page. There was no mini-bar in our room. 24 hour room service was definitely not in evidence ..in fact after dinner on the first night we went upstairs to the bar for a drink to find that it was in semi-darkness with no-one there to serve you. Instead of perhaps playing some cards after dinner in the bar and 'bistro' area we retired to our room each night after dinner to watch something on our iPad as the tv did not seem to have any English speaking channels. I also cannot imagine where the conference facilities could possibly have been! Wi-fi in our room was good. This was though, a lovely stay and we would really love to return at another time of year. There is parking in the hotel's small car park which is essential as there is nowhere else to put your car. Hiring a car to get here from Milan Malpensa airport is essential and also to explore the area including Lake Maggiore which is about half an hour's drive away. Several other restaurants in the area, only one of which we managed to try for a lunch. We managed to pick the rainiest weekend you could imagine for our three night stay. This place would be so much lovelier without the wet and, if there was sun, it would be just amazing.
