|19.58km from city centerThe views from this hotel are stunning, even though it was raining and misty! The staff are very nice, jolly and helpful. Unfortunately the whole place was rather shabby and tired. Despite this our room was comfortable and spacious although being next to the bar and restaurant it was a little noisy. The food in the restaurant has a Spanish influence but it really just wasn't that great, which is a shame because there's nowhere else to go. A shame because it's a fabulous location and could have been a memorable stay.

Again superb service on arrival which was again surpassed after lunch. Arriving back at the hotel , Atek the duty manager advised us that due to a cancellation and changes made by the staff we could in fact stay at the Quest for our time here. Atek your empathy, efficiency and caring made a difficult situation so much better. The Quest Hotel is indeed fortunate to have you as an employee and you will always be remembered by us for your caring and genuine understanding. The word has been spread around my family and friends. Well done Atek and the Quest. Again nothing but superb service and accommodation. Thank you. Mike and Kay Legge. May 09 2022.

|6.55km from city centerOriginally through work I was booked a studio room - when I checked in the lady at the front desk was lovely. When I entered my room it smelled strongly of cleaner but unfortunately the bathroom/shower area was still disappointing. There was a lot of mould and grime in the shower area and the grout of the tiles. I couldn't have showered there. When I went back to the front desk to explain, and enquire about another room, I was kindly upgraded to one of the apartments beside the Burger King and had a much more pleasing stay. The apartment was new, sleek, super clean and had beautiful finishings. I would definitely stay in the apartments again. It was near to lots of different eateries, conveniently close to the motorway and a great location.

A nice oasis that is close enough to walk to piha beaches but is also close enough to walk to several nice hikes inland, including one to the very pretty Kitekite falls. Big kitchen and lounge and lots of outdoor seating and eating space to take advantage of their idyllic private garden. Geoff is a laid back and unobtrusive host but he's right there if you need anything. The tips input box is far too short so I'll include my tip here: Mind if you're driving to Piha from Auckland close to sunset. There's a place about 5-10 minutes East of piha where the road heads directly towards the sun and if the sun is low in the sky, about 1/2 hour before sunset, you come around a corner and can be absolutely blinded due to the low angle of the sun. You can't see anything at all and if you're not expecting it and traveling at speed you must stop dead in your tracks to avoid straying into oncoming traffic or going off the road. And if you're going the other way at this time of day watch for this spot because oncoming traffic could easily veer into your lane with the Sun right in their eyes.

|1.96km from city centerLocation is in the city of Parnell, more than half an hour's walk from the CBD. This is the palace of the Queen of Tonga. It is a relatively simple holiday home, 3 floors, wooden structure, high lift, kitchen to cook by yourself, shared bathroom - good hot water, washing machine, garden. There is a supermarket nearby. If you want to cook for yourself, you can go back and buy ingredients. There is also a very lively street nearby, with some cafes, restaurants and small shops. Less than five minutes walk, you can go to the Holy Trinity Church and St. Mary's Church. Overall is good. The service is basically invisible, the store is small, and no service personnel can be seen. Upon arrival, the room was ready and clean. Other self-help is just fine. There is a small heating in the house, very intimate.

The kitchen sink leaked and flooded the dining area. TV signal got knocked out by blustery winds. Internet reception in the room is rather poor. In public areas no issue. But in the rooms, bad!
However, service is great. Issues reported were attended to quickly.

|9.35km from city centerOur family of 5 stayed during a 3 night holiday to Auckland, choosing this accommodation as not many can accommodate 3 child families, and also liked the location within close proximity to the mall etc. The layout and space was good but that's pretty much where it ends. It appears that some of the units may have been renovated but our unit was obviously not one of them. The room was rough, with holes in walls purely patched, one electrical socket was even hanging out of the wall. Our bathroom window would not shut probably so we had to ensure lights were off to reduce bug visitors. The place was also grotty, the sink etc needed a good clean, initially I thought the old timber etc might just be stained etc due to age but one wipe of a tissue over the skirting board revealed thick dust. The light fitting in the bathroom was full of dead bugs. About 3 blown bulbs in the unit. The crockery was stained and much of it with chips and cracks. The location and space means with some much needed TLC our unit would be great... but as it stands we wouldn't stay here again as for $235 per night we were terribly disappointed.

Cleanliness was really good, the only thing would be that because there are no windows in the room there is a musty smell every time you enter it, having come from outside. The service would be an area for improvement more so around knowledge. When signing the room contract I was asking the receptionist questions about how to do early check out and what is turndown service but she said she didn’t know much about the contract and didn’t she didn’t advise us that to get a “2nd key” we needed to download an app to gain access to our rooms as we had to use the keycard we were given for powering the room. Also functions on our TV weren’t working so we called the receptionist and he said it should be there, but the HDMI option wasn’t showing. So he finished our phone call with I don’t know, we can’t help you with that, we don’t have a technician. I managed however to work it out using Google.

|0.65km from city centerOK, it's a great hotel, excellent rooms, supplies, service, nothing wrong there. I only have two complaints, and it starts with their breakfast lounge Advieh. Excellent food, indeed beautiful, but it does not require loud music. People are there for breakfast, not for loud music, which is obviously only for the staff, not for customers. Make it more welcoming please. And the other problem is the access if you're driving. There is valet parking, but the area is very inconspicuous and it will be invariably occupied by taxis, often in two or three rows. The unadvised driver will not be able to stop, or drive in, unless you want to stop all traffic behind you as you wait for the taxis to move out. So do not try to turn left and drive around again, as traffic directions will take you all over the North Island before you make it back to the hotel. Just carry on on the same street for another block and you will drive around this massive car park, overnight cheaper than the hotel valet ($40, as opposed to $80 at the hotel) and you can comfortably walk to the hotel directly through a covered pedestrian walkway above the street. But if you do want to use the valet service at the hotel front, do stop by the taxis, honk like crazy and they will slowly move away to allow your car through - remember, that is your spot, not theirs. But I honestly advise anyone to use Uber to get to this hotel, and not drive in.

The breakfast has a special chef made for each guest on-site, which is delicious. The service staff was very friendly and welcoming, and also reserved a parking space for us. In short, everything is fine, will stay again next time.

This time we stayed in a 2 bedroom unit which had a small lounge area, table and chairs and a kitchenette. Once again a pleasant enough stay but there have been little improvements so it is getting a little aged. The beds especially were too soft and definitely need replacing. It was however a nice enough stay. Quiet room and a very friendly and helpful gentleman who was at front desk. He was even kind enough to try to find us a nice recommendation for dinner and allowed us to use his computer and printer to do our online check in for the airport.

|1.16km from city centerI stayed in the eight bed female dorm and had a generally positive experience. The room was very sheltered from outside noise and roommates were considerate. Bunks are a bit creaky and there isn't a huge amount of space for everyone's bags, but the shared bathrooms are clean, showers good and kitchen usable. WiFi was also good enough for video calls and films. The surrounding area is a bit intimidating after dark and the hostel is tucked away up a random concrete staircase. I didn't have any issues though. Basically, it's a simple no frills hostel which does what it says on the tin and is in a good central location.

Ian was very accommodating - when we checked in, we weren’t sure how many nights we would need as our flight had not been re-booked at that time, so he moved us to a room that was available for at least 3 nights. Our room (12) was spacious and clean and had everything we needed. The mall at New Lynn is within walking distance and has plenty of food options as well as shops. The motel provided great value for money in our opinion.

My encounter with Jamie in the front desk was a happy, serendipitous and memorable experience. He tried to help and delight me in every way possible. With my injured waist, he even helped me to carry my luggage downstairs. The feeling and vibe was extraordinarily positive. I recommend.

The rooms facing the sea are OK, the rooms to the backyard are small without view. The house is beautiful with its art deco era and comfortable furnishings. Despite a sizeable storm hitting Auckland we were cosy by the fire in the lounge and then in our comfortable bed in the Karekare room. Everything is clean and the kitchen facilities were excellent. We’d book again for sure.
